[Q] Problem with proxyimity sensor? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Friend bought xperia z and it does not turn off screen when phone is close to face while talking on the phone. Is there option to turn on/off that function or it is malfunction?

Some screen protectors can cause the proximity sensor to malfunction as well when some dirt is covering the sensor it might not work properly. If non of the two then most likely you've gotten a faulty phone and should exchange it.

Do a repair first with sus or pcc.

Camera ring

OK so today I pulled my phone out of my pocket and oddly enough, the silver ring around my lens was stuck to my case. (I like to keep my phone protected. Sue me.) It was glued on (cheaply) and wasn't even metal.
Has anyone else had this happen?

I lost the ring at the audio Port. Luckily I'm getting a new one in a few days (due to a other malfunction in the device which they can't fix, so I'm just getting a new one xD)
Now I'm hoping it will still have unlockable boatloader!

I pulled my phone out of my pocket yesterday to find the camera ring stuck to my finger, grrrr it is just cheap plastic, I was able to stick it back on at the time but fear the initail adhesive has been comprimised it will only be a matter of time before this disappears. But to me fair I dont think the phone with the ring missing affects the asthetics of the device in too significant a way.
I agree completely on this. The phone is beautiful enough, IMO. The ring is simply an accessory. I was just wondering who else has had this happen.

The 'metal' ring around the camera lens of my Xperia T fell off too. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it happen, so it's now missing.
I contacted Sony Support via a web chat - they wanted me to send it in for service, but it is too much hassle for a cosmetic problem - I was hoping they could send me a replacement part that I could fit myself.
I think what happened is the phone got warm while in use - this would heat the glue up and cause the adhesive to loosen.
In My Xperia T also the camera ring is missing.... Where to buy it.... ?

Same just happend to me today
i do still have the plastic ring though. Maybe going to try super glue it (hoping i don't spill any on the lens )

Damage

How can you tell if the HTC One has water damage? My phone seems to be fine, but I had to put on the Xtremetech Screen protector and squiging the device led to a few droplets of soapy water to touch my dual speakers and sides. I don't think there is water damage, but I want to be sure about it. Thanks.

The camera flash should turn red.
The camera flash is normal. Nothing red like at all.

Then the water sensor didn't trip. As long as your phone is working, I guess its okay. I usually stay away from wet install screen protectors.

Dust on the screen

Hello! I have SP c5302, that is 2 month old. Near 2-3 weeks ago i have seen dust under on the screen under the glass. It is in the middle of the screen, but it's small and i can see it only if screen is off, but every week some more dust is getting there, that is more visible even if screen is on.
Please tell me how to solve this problem? Dissasemble the phone, and clean dust manually, or use conpressor?
Thanks!
Same here but it's not the worse. I also have some small white dots under the screen. I think I should send it for repair bit I'm lazy to unroot and relock and everything...

It's interesting, is there any way to remove dust without disassembling the phone?

I also have this dust problem on the right bottom corner. Its getting more and more. I hope this is a warranty reason.

I too have the same problem. However, mine was already sent in for a repair (LCD Replacement) and found that some specks of dust were present in between the LCD and the glass. So I again asked the technicians over at the service center to clean the device. They went nuts when I insisted that they should clean it again, maybe around 2-3 times, before the noticeable specks were gone. Some dusts are still present on my phone as I comment, but are only visible only when under a strong lightsource.
I suggest you go to a service center and ask them to clean it for you. Better bring a flashlight to check if some specks would still be present, though I doubt the screen would be 100% free from dust.
OR if you plan on disassembling the phone yourself, you can try to use the aspirators used in cleaning camera lenses.
Thnx! I want to do it myself, and I need to know hows is the screen connected to the front glass, how to disassemble screen sandwich.

Go to a repair centre and ask them for an price indicate. If you mess with your phone you will lose your warranty for sure. If you go to a repair centre you have warranty and keep your warranty

Hi just dropped my xperia z from about 5 foot height onto pavement and the screen is not broken but it isnt responding to any touch.

just asked the guy who fixes my phones he said bring it in and ill see, said it could be digitizer which if it is then im ****ed.
had enough of this, broke the screen 2 months ago and spent £150 fixing it and £20 for a broken sensor.
arghhhhh.
Flashed a new firmware on it whilst deleting everything on the phone through pc companion but still no luck.
Im confused here, the phone guy said the digitizer is built in with the screen but im checking on ebay and theyre selling a seperate digitizer.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-Touch-S...K_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4d1637f583
So if the screen is ok and digitizer broken would installing a new one fix it?
Let me know please, confused and angry,
Apparently the screen and digitiser are glued together, making it extremely likely that one or the other will break when attempting to separate them.

It started working all by it self.
Thank god
Hi I'm trying to find a case that will protect my screen something like a thin plastic sheet my mate has such a cover for his iPhone 5.
Or is there a thick screen protector that someone can recommend?

[Q] Dust between LCD screen and touchscreen

Does anyone have this problem? My Xperia SP, when you looked in a room with lots of light (or in an outdoor environment) it is possible to realize a lot of sand between the touch screen and the LCD panel.
Not to mention my touchscreen, which displays a little "loose" the arc of the phone.
Someone managed to solve it? I've been thinking about dropping my touchscreen without removing your phone (with all care of the world, go through a credit card around the edges to loosen the glue) and then clean the LCD screen and the touchscreen using a soft brush, removing any sand present in that place. Is this a good idea?
Thanks in advance..
I saw a teardown of the phone and the lcd is not glued to the touchscreen this device is really easy to teardown but you won't get further then removing the back cover because of the side screws

I can partially remove the touchscreen without disassembly the phone? Without removing any connector, just to clean the screen.. can i do this?
You have to completely disassemble the phone to separate the digitaliser and the LCD as with most phones manufacturers tend to start with the screen and build up from there is RMA an option because that's the sort of thing covered by warranty

Is really easier? More than disassemble a Xperia Play?
@zenug I have never tried the play but from looking at photos I would say the SP is easier. It's not a difficult phone to disassemble nothing like as hard as certain fruit based phones. Just make sure you go slow there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for a new ribbon to arrive because you damaged one. There are videos on youtube of the teardown. One last thing vv important if it is sand or dust in between the LCD and digitaliser use a can of compressed air to blow it away sand will scratch the glass and ruin the LCD. Fingerprints and smears from cloths are almost impossible to remove. Think fitting a screen protector but cleaner, much cleaner. Try and avoid touching or wiping either surface if possible.

Well, I've cleaned the screen using my ninja technique (passing a card around the screen edges to loosen the glue, I used a brush to clean properly) and not to the problem appears again, I used a kind of "glue" to stick the edges and prevent the entry of dust on the screen. I do not think that is a definite "fix", because it is a McGyver technique that should be resolved by Sony.
sorry for my bad english
Even i have got the same prob
If i take it to service centre(phone still in warranty)
Will i be charged?

No you will not be charged its a hardware failure and make sure they reseal the screen not just clean it or the dust will get back in
