Here's a thread for the P990, where somebody figured out which ALSA audio controls need to be set, and I've incorporated those settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177766
And "sudden36's" alsa_amixer script for that phone is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38831550&postcount=8
Beware though that finding a way to enable FM audio, as difficult as it may be, is often just a small part of the work required to make sure everything from ringing to audio notifications to headset jack removals all work OK.
BTW, is there another FM thread for P970 ? I thought I saw some other effort, but it's hard to keep track of the multiple P9xx threads.
So can anyone write here if t worked for u?

i have found these two threads on slider sounds but can anyone help to see if they will work on the xperia?
Would be cool if they work...
I have downloaded but cant seem to get them to work?
Im hoping someone with more knowlege would help to solve it.
You could get some good sounds going
PLAzmA's Sliding Sound Pack
Probably the easiest way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369736
thankyou
will try this tonight
Works a treat
Thanks for pointing out the thread if anyone else is interested then read the instructions and the last posts on the thread.
Hmmm. just had a go with my X1. It plays the open sound, then crashes.
I have tried different sounds, and combinations, but same every time.
Perhaps its something else i have installed not getting on with it.
Never mind.
Thanks to Plazma for the proggy, though. Maybe it'll work after my next hard reset.
Cant get it to work on my X1..anything i'm missing here??
follow method 2
worked fine but make sure you go into settings once installed and set it up, enable "run service on startup" and also make sure it has the correct location for the sounds otherwise it wont play.
More slider sounds for you:
Transformers,
scifi,
zip,
Startrek doors,
Kitt (from nightrider)
all available here

Hi all, my first post here
Mine also crashes after play once, but when I reinstalled it and save it to memory card then it hasn't crash anymore so far
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366681
Might be worth giving the above a try. It's how i got it working on the touch dual.
It involves doing it manually but all you need is in the first post.
Mine did not crash at all just install to device.
follow method 2 on the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369736
Is any way to make slider sound in registry?
There are SlidingSound an Notifications keys are present...
Not work for me, any solution????

Any solution? Someone is working. Someone's not.
edit: Now works. Install only slidesound.cab on storage card. In program setting check only play sound.
Installed into device of my X1, works perfect now!
Storage card installation crashed after first slide out...
Hi all,
I have searched the forums, and tried a few apps and I haven't been able to find a solution to this - I was wondering if anyone else has or would want a way.
I like to listen to the radio to hear up to the minute local news, interesting local programming, some good new music and regular local humorous/comedy programs. And sometimes while listening to these I may get interrupted or may hear something I'd really like to share or refer to later - so in the past I'd just click the 'Record' switch on my MP3 player and then replay whatever I missed/saved later. Sometimes I also hear a good song and I'll record a few seconds to get enough of the lyrics to Google it later.
Knowing the X1 had an FM radio and WM6 I figured there must be an app out there to do this, the Samsung Omnia 2 apparently has this feature out of the box. I know some phones have the FM radio direct connected to the headphones/speakers, but I also know on the X1 has RDS and people have even found ways to use it as a TMC receiver on this forum. So I'm hoping there might be a way to record from FM - nothing fancy, not the full schedulers of the Chinese clone phones, but just some app that might at least let us hit a button and record a few minutes would be awesome.
Does anyone know how or if this can be done on the Xperia?
Thanks a lot,
Peter

Yes, I've checked many different programs and most that say they do record are actually Internet Radio stations and not FM. Actually when I clicked your link the first many results were already purple from when I searched it last week before posting.
One interesting thing I just came across is that Apple announced last week that their new iPod Nano will have 'Live Pause' functionality on it's FM tuner. That would be dream functionality for me, especially if it also included an actual recorder function to share the content later (which I doubt). But I really, really don't like Apple - and my X1 has let me leave my pocket digi cam, PDA, mp3 player and old phones at home and do it all with one device. It would be awesome if it could also record, even if rudimentarily.
99% of results you get with this search is either people who posted asking and were ignored, Internet Radio apps, info on clone phones or mp3 players or Call/Video recording software.
Thanks for your reply,
Peter
i used to have an ATOM exec that FM record function
go to their sub forum and see if you can get someone to make you a cab of their application. it might work
after this is done the next step would be is just to create a calander reminder to remind you to record

Thanks man, I'll do that . I'm ok with not having a scheduler attached, though it'd be nice. I'd really like to have the ability to hit a button and record though because sometimes there's some useful stuff on.
For example today they had a financial analyst on talking about GICs vs. Stocks vs. Bonds, etc..., and giving advice to someone on a situation almost identical to mine and he made some interesting points I wanted to remember to research further - luckily I was at home and had an old mp3 player that could record, but if I was out I'd just have to try to memorize it and probably end up just with confused recollections if I even remembered it at all. Missed a lot in the time it took to find the player though - just starting it from the Xperia - that would be awesome .
Thanks,
Peter

By the way, The Grizz, would it be the same application you were asking about in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493868&highlight=fm+recording or would it be something specific to the Atom Exec?
Thanks,
Peter
P.S. I see you were on the quest too man - good to know I'm not alone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493761 - I did find the HTC/Diamond FM Radio App, which seems to work faster than the one with the X1 natively, but no recording, still looking around... Atom app seems to have scheduler, everything - would be awesome if we can just get this thing ported
I spent a couple of fruitless hours trying to find and fm_radio.cab or similar file for the Atom Exec - no luck, though a Chinese board seemed like it might have it, the page gives an error in Chinese when I tried to read it - either that the post doesn't exist anymore or you have to register or some such thing.
I found a couple of other FM apps that work, mostly for the HTC Touch HD and similar devices. I found about 3 others that don't work, giving various error messages about missing files or the Radio failing to power on.
I eventually searched for fmradio.exe and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284477
A lucky hit - "From O2 Xda Atom Exec..." - fmradio.exe + some dlls. I tried this on my X1 though and unfortunately I just get the message: "FM Radio requires Stereo Headset to be connected to function." I do have my headphones plugged in though. No idea if there is some way to get the app to bypass this check to see if the rest of it will run. It may also have something to do with where the dlls are - I just put all the files in my main Windows directory - no idea if they should be somewhere else, or if I should leave my original files as well. My X1 Radio is broken possibly from my previous 7 other apps tried - so this app might work if tried with a fresh flash.
So close
No luck, I flashed on WinMo 6.5 and then back to WinMo 6.1 with Jack's ROM - but I can't seem to get the O2 Xda Atom Exec FM Radio app to run. It just says that there is no headphone in the port. Is there a way around that or could I be missing some files? Or maybe I put them in the wrong path?
This is only one way to attack the problem - any other suggestions or ideas would be good as well.
Thanks,
Peter
A friend of mine lent me his Omnia, which can record with a click. I got all the files, but unfortunately it just gives an error that it is missing files or a trust certificate. I found the fmradio.dl file was hidden in the \Windows directory.
I found some other fmradio.dll files online for various Omnia models, but still no luck with those. It may be that they are not the right file for this program, or they are incompatible with the hardware. It's too bad I can't at least run the program, and then find the FM doesn't work. That would feel more satisfying then it not working at all.
So, so far no luck. Unless the creators of Power Radio here on the XDA forum do infact add FM Recording to their application...or we find another way?
Has anyone been able to find a way to do this on the X1? Or maybe perhaps the circuitry or software is different and it is possible on the newer X2 hardware?
Thanks!
I'm thinking, if it were possible, there would be an app for it. It's probably a hardware limitation of the X1 just like call recording. The output of the radio may not even pass through the CPU/chipset and goes straight to an output.
Resco Audio recorder records calls in X1
Hey guys, I am not sure whether there has been a fix found for creating your own mp3 ringtone sound louder with your XPERIA X1 without messing with your phone settings.
So what I thought was why not mess with the mp3 itself and see if it makes any difference. Again, I don't know if this has been suggested before but I was wondering if anyone would like an mp3 file they have that I can test and post back here just to see if it works.
Any volunteers?
*ps*: forgive me if this method has been proposed before
yes this has been posted before.

i tried increasing the sound in audacity but it gets to a point where it just gets really distorted if you keep increasing it but if you can strike a good balance then it works well!

Yes, this is what I meant. You can emphasize certain frequencies and minimize certain frequencies in Audacity and you can get a pretty fine ringtone.
You specifically play with the equalizer option to get your ringtone to sound according to your preference.
At any rate, it's all about balance like you said.

rudem0e, I am having difficulty finding anyone mentioning in that thread how to increase the ringtone sound without having to modify the phone registry settings or installing any cabs. Can you please tell me what page on thread 490391 you are referring to?
Thanks
Hi all ... just installed CM9 stable release and it looks like is working great ...
only a question for the forum Q&A section
does "quiet hours" works ? I have tried it but I cannot make it work
I think it can be very useful ...
any suggestion ?
Did you make sure to check the "Mute Notifications" checkbox?
Also note that this will not affect incomming calls.
/Croaton
Otherwise you may try Profile Scheduler, for instance. This app allows us add contacts to white list.
Think I understood why was not working ...
thanks all for the help

Hi guys.
I am in need of a developer for Android to build a simple app that quickly scans radio stations.
Either FM or Internet stations is fine, whatever is easiest.
This is for Ghost Hunting.
Please help me!

Do you have a particular device in mind? Most phones these days don't have FM radios any more. (how I miss my HTC G2)
