Swype in the email application issue - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hey all,
So I just turned on the Swype keyboard on my One the other day and I'm loving it so far (came from a qwerty phone previously). However, I noticed that only in the email app (Where I am getting work email via MS Exchange), the auto-capitalization and auto-spacing in between words does not exist. I have to manually capitalize the first word in every sentence as well as type in spaces in between each word. Nowhere else on the phone do I have to do that. Anybody else experiencing this? Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change?

I'd say this is effecting everyone. Same issue on the HTC EVO 4G LTE Sense 5 Mod.

Yup, noticed this as well.

Cool, thanks. I guess it's good it's not just me, but now we just have to hope HTC figures it out

If you don't mind spending a buck ($.99), version 1.5.0.15186 available in the Play Store fixes the issue. Although I would think an update from HTC would be imminent to fix this free of charge.

I am on version 1.5.3.15724 of Swype from the Play store and also have this issue. This is the newest paid version I believe. It's also strange that from withing the email app it highlights every word after entering it via swype. It's a but htc needs to fix. For now I guess I can just hit space after every word.

UPDATE. I fixed it. I didn't have the purchased version (Swype + Dragon) selected. I switched to that and now its working. Swype + Dragon version 1.5.3.15724 in the Play Store $.99.

I can confirm. Just bought the $0.99 paid version, upgraded from Swype Beta. Now auto-space and auto-capitalise works perfectly. It still does highlight/select each word you type, but that doesn't seem to upset how Swype works.
So relieved since I use Swype all the time. I have tried other keyboards, even permanently switched to others (and paid for the full apps) but each time I go back to Swype it just works better and more efficiently.
BTW - my current paid version installed today sits at 1.5.6.16934
Also, my handset is the unbranded version running stock 1.29.707.16

Why is this not available from Amazon?
This sucks being forced to buy it from the Play Store. I trust Amazon with my credit card #, but Google knows everything else about me so I'm not giving them my credit card too. I wonder how much Google is paying Swype on the side.

TouchPal Curve?

Anyone tried this yet? It's in beta right now.

Tried it, you can find it for download on Google if you search. It sucks, it's definitely way worse than Swype or the other more easily available swipe input methods. I'm sure it'll get better but right now it really isn't worth getting.

Where'd you get the download? I'm interested because I retweeted their message so that they'd send the beta download, but havn't gotten a message yet going into the 2nd day now.

I got the beta, I like the fact that its kind of a mix of of swype and a gingerbread kind of keyboard, but I the swyping is not even close to as accurate and well done as Swype's. It takes me several swypes just to get the word "the." The only thing that that it does better than swype is type normally.

Sadly Mobilism has its own set of problems. The site has been down for much longer than I expected. I did manage to still easily obtain this download simply by viewing Google's cached version of the site, which shows all the external download links to all the apps [sweet!]. Anyway I just wanted to include that bit of info for anyone else searching this or other APKs on Mobilism; the website is currently offline.

@BlackSideburns Is this your version? TouchPal v4.8 Beta 20110729
Official website doesn't post a beta version number so I am just interested in having the latest.
If you got your beta version as a PM from retweeting TouchPal's video link, I'd be interested in obtaining this APK from you. If there is no login required like Swype's beta, it's probably already circulating around, but an upload would still be appreciated if it's different from the above 4.8_2011 07 29 version.
On one final note, I had a VERY similar experience with this "curve" enabled in TouchPal curve (it has to be enabled in options apparently) as BlackSideBurns. I have the exact same problem for the word "the" when "curving", I was forced to tap-t-h-e then shift back to the swipe method to save time. It felt the same but slight differences I had to get used to, such as how there is very little support for symbol swyping as Swype has lots of support for. It is still a Beta though right? There is always room for improvement
It's true the tap method works better than Swype! The advertised "blind-typing" isn't the best description, but it certainly does hold up it's word if you are not fan of Swype/Curve.
Also bnichs5 stated above that the new version is TouchPad not TouchPal. I can't find any other references of TouchPad.. so I'm confused about that statement.
Sorry for the super long reply I hope someone reads most of it lol.

Actually version 5 has already come out of beta and is available on their Chinese website: http://www.chubao.cn/input_download.html
I find its predictive engine much better than Swype, and the ability to tap and swype at the same time works great for me.
I like it a lot

Order and Chaos 1.0.3 now with official Xoom support

Order and Choos version 1.0.3 is now officially supported for Xoom and A500. However, I'm an Asus TF101 owner (sucks to be me) and cannot DL from market. Keen to hear from anyone how the new version stacks up with official honeycomb support.
It still says game is not compatible with your device. The update notes show support but I can't get it to download. Has anyone else been successful?
It also shows support on gameloft and is for sale $4.99. They also don't recognize my purchase order # from Android Market.

Did you pay for it on your device and try to download it? I have an unrooted wifi xoom that I was able to download and start playing with.
In case you still dont have it working....I just bought my xoom today and was getting the same error when trying to open the game. I called gameloft and they emailed me a download link. Went to my downloads in astro and installed it from there. Seems to be working now.. Its currently downloading the extra 677.4 MB but it has opened further so far than it ever has. If it ends up with the same error I'll let you know, if it works I'll be busy playing lol good luck.

The Best keyboard

I installed the best keyboard in my view - A.I.Type Plus keyboard. It actually mimics the WP7 UI kb almost exactly and is the closest I found in precision and ease. It is quite accurate and those of you who used WP7 and the keyboard that came with it know what I am talking about. It even clicks the same.
Available from the Market and I think there is a free version available, as well as paid one. I have dual Mango and Android and always felt WP7 had a much better keyboard, even with all sorts of options available for Android - tried them all, loving the A.I.Type.

htc keyboard is also good !!
try it ! !!
My personal fave is Thumb Keyboard as it allows you to have the cursor arrows at bottom like on the HTC keyboard. It also has a good prediction engine/auto-complete and skinable.
Will check your recommendation out aswell though, thanks hun
I use Slide-It,which works accurate and fast!
Costs a couple of euros, but really worth it!
Flext9 is the best one for me.
See you

Swiftkey X is my choice.
With the rapid typing setting and its prediction software, often I don't even have to hit the first letter of the next word. Especially in repetitive messages like typical text messages or email replies. The more you type, the more it can learn from you.
Had heard great reviews of it in the past, and one day a month or two ago it was the free app of the day over at Amazon. Even before it was free that day, I was on the verge of purchasing it.
Also for our worldly friends, it supports a ton of languages.
I tried SWYPE, SwiftkeyX, HTC, Slide-It, Better Keyboard, WP7 no droid etc - had a few over the past few months. I just really enjoy the one that comes with WP7, so was looking for the closest match and A.I.type is the best adaptation in my view, it has copy/paste and all sorts of other cool options. SWYPE would be my second best, probably because I got so used to it.
i've always prefered the sense keypads over every other eon but since moving to amioui based rom and go launcher, i have given go keybaord a a go and i like it alot
As for me GoKeybords is best for now.
SmartKeyboard rocks!!!! gestures, one click language change, a lot of skins
I tried SwiftkeyX and I'm not sure why I didn't like it. Somehow typing felt more difficult and I had to concentrate much more then with the HTC-Keyboard. So I went back to HTC...
I used to use smart keyboard pro (3 months), but then I tested the new Swype beta. Haven't changed my keyboard since, it works great

I was talking to someone recently and they had mentioned a KB that would actually predict phrases and sentences that you would say, similar to the old school Nokia phones where certain button combinations would type out full sentences in no time. Does this sound like anything someone may be familiar with?

Fire-Style Launcher?

I'm posting this here because this is really only relevant to those of us who have flashed custom roms.
Like many of us, I was interested in flashing because I didn't like the limitations of the FireOS, especially stuck on Android 4.0. Sadly, the CM13 launcher doesn't pass "the wife test" the way the original FireOS Carousel did.
Turns out some people in my family actually enjoy using the Kindle as a... you know, Kindle. Yes, I'll be installing Amazon's apps so we don't lose access to that, but is there any way to get a launcher similar to the Carousel? Or a way to get the Carousel launcher apk (would that even work)? That way we can have our cake and eat it too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't isn't that a thread about putting the entire FireOS back on and wipe out the newer version of Android I'm running now? That's not what I want to do. My wife likes the Carousel UI for browsing the latest books and videos, but we otherwise hate the browser, softkeys (back, home, menu and search somehow look so dorky and out of place compared to the modern 3 shape setup), and inability to install most apps which require kitkat or later.
In other words, I'm happy I'm not running FireOS anymore. The only thing I liked about it was the Carousel launcher. I'd love to get the original launcher back if that's somehow possible, along with its ability to tap into my Amazon account and offer suggestions based on our habits. But I recognize that its probably more likely I'll manage to get an alternative launcher than port the original.

You can flash Gapps, root it. So you can have "carousel" you want. But still be able to I stall play store, etc... There is another i found on a different forum that you may be looking for. It's a hybrid FireOS and aosp android....I'll have to find it. I will when I'm off work.

Oh, interesting!
Update: I had actually read about Kinology, but I think it is still based on ICS (4.0). A bunch of apps I'm trying to install keep throwing parse errors, which I've gathered is due to the way later versions of Android handled APKs versus earlier ones. Older versions of things have sideloaded fine, but for example, the last few releases of Kodi require at leat Kitkat (4.4), and keep throwing errors upon installation. I'm afraid Kinology will have the same issue since it is so old!
