I've read the thread over on the Euro HD2 part of the site, but there's little said about car & bike mounts that fit the TMOUSA HD2's. I'm especially interested in mounts that can charge while using GPS/Sat Nav (evidently some charges don't provide enough output). Any recommendations?

Well it's not any use for bikes, but brodit makes the best car mounts I've ever used, and you can order them with or without a power connection built-in. The one I used with my wizard charged it even faster than a wall charger. They also will let you flip the phone from portrait to landscape (and back) as needed.

sirphunkee - thanks for the info on the Brodit adapters. I was looking at both the Brodit adapters and the Herbert Richter mounts (not a fan of the vent mounts) from http://www.pdahut.com/store/home.php?cat=2717 . The one nice thing I can see from their stuff is that you could have a Herbert Richter car mount and bike mount and use the same Brodit adapter for both. Anyone using any others with success?

Actually Brodit/ProClip does make a mount for bikes... Brodit Bike Mount. I don't own the bike mount myself but I can definitely vouch for their car mounts, I've used them for my last two devices and now presently for my HD2.
Nice! I just ordered my ProClip Auto Mount for the HD2 (USA). This is more money than I wanted to spend, but it looks like a great solution and I really like where it will mount to my dash.
Again, Great forums, and great site.
Two thumbs up for ProClip
I don't want to sound like an advertisement, but wow, the ProClip is a spectacular car mounting system. Good quality mount, that works very well. It was more money than I wanted to part with, but I am satisfied.
I didn't think about the fact that I will have to ditch the rubber glove the HD2 comes with. I suppose I better invest in a clear shield solution and a belt clip case like the RIMs used to come in.

If you're referring to using a clear shield while it's in the proclip car mount then it wont work. The clear shield will make it to big and not fit properly in the mount...I tried the same thing a couple devices ago.
try www.bracketron.com. They have just about everything I could think of, and decent prices. I love my universal usb charger.
Also, if you wish to get the bike mount, looks like all of the brackets, waterproof cases, etc have universal slots on the back to fit any type of mount.

Good tip. Darn! Well I guess I will have to just use it bare. I really wish the HD2 had a finish like the original HTC Dash for T-Mobile. It was a slight rubbery texture that didn't slide at all. These slick finishes lead to drops and falls.
Bicycle Mount
I just bought this from Amazon and used it today. Did 15 miles and it was awesome. I use a GPS app and listen to my music via bluetooth headphones and it was nice not to have to put my phone in my pouch.

Here's an interesting and inexepnsive alternative that I just ordered. Will let you know how it is when I receive it.
The best car mount?
Anybody use this from Brodit? I am just about to buy one...

I have used Brodit stuff in the past and I am crazy about their products. Every now and then they have one that does not fit exactly properly, however I believe this one should work well - for the US T-Moboe version.... anybody have this?

On the first page of this thread there are many posts of users (including myself) who've made this purchase and love it. You can't go wrong with this mount, the best I've used to date.
is there a way i can use the pro clip and still maintain use of the micro usb slot? I have a carputer and i tether the hd2 to my PC, so I would need to be able to access the micro USB port to connect a usb cable to the pc

Yes, the usb slot is always accessable with pro clip mounts. The need to be able to charge the device while in the mount is crucial.
Actually, the proclips are available with and without a built-in charger...so if you want to keep the port free, just be sure to order the one that doesn't have the charger cord/plug attached.
I wanted to share this link from Lifehacker with anybody interested in getting a car mount for their HD2 but not wanting to spending $25+ plus.
http://lifehacker.com/5593245/build-a-custom-phone-car-mount-for-under-10
I tried this out but substituted a dash mount for a windshield mount. I got a cheap hardcover case and the universal Garmin mount from eBay. Both items were less than $3 and I got them with free shipping. I also had to buy some super glue since I didn't have any, I just got a small tube of it for $1.50 from Target.
It's worked like a charm so far. I will say that the case I got is a bit tight so my phone doesn't pop out of the mount as easily as the example shown.
Cheers!
So I got the car dock and like everyone else says the quality is great. But it is really hard to find anyplace to mount it if your windshield is far away. So I had to take the dock apart. I did not use the suction base but unscrewed the thumbscrew and just used the mounting clip. I just bolted the clip and part of the swivel to a vertical flat spot in the car. So I do not have much tilt but it work.
Anyway, with that done I realized that I could no longer use the suction base since I needed another clip and swivel. I went looking on the web for parts and found what I think is where Samsung gets some of the parts for the dork. Check out the iGrip Traveler. Looks like the same clip and swivel. So I ordered one. I will let folks know if the clip will connect to the samsung plate. If so I will have a nice car mount and a nice charging desk mount in one.
Just wanted to share this and didn't see it anywhere else. I had an old HTC Thunderbolt Car mount from iGrip using the PerfektFit system. I took off the phone portion and took a gamble on the suction mount piece being compatible with a cheap N7 car dock bought off of eBay (the mount holes looked the same, but the item description did not explicitly say PerfektFit compatibility). The two items paired nicely and has been very stable for me. It is also small and slim and did not require me to do any major changes to the car. The N7 mount only cost me $14 (search for "Dashboard Non Slip 360 degrees Stand Holder Car Mount for Google Nexus 7") and obviously, I already had the iGrip mount. You can get cheap iGrip mounts off of Amazon. Just search for "iPhone 4 iGrip" and you should find some for as cheap as $7 since the old models are being cleared out. So in total, this should cost about $20.
I was not sure if I could put links directly on this post. If I can, then I will update with direct links to what I used.
I've also attached some pics. I had it on the windshield at first but it was a bit to high for me, so I remounted it on the Dash instead. Worked perfectly for my needs.
Nice one, wanax, and welcome to the forum.
very cool. It looks like it will work well.
i will try that.
This is not a cheap setup, but nothing über ever is though, is it. This is a very solid setup with no wobble and provides close arms reach access to your device. In my car it's not exactly line of sight but other vehicles might have closer mounts. I've never been a fan of windshield mounts as they bounce around too much, can be out of reach in some vehicles, results in cables running all over the place, and in hot states like FL can result in the phone overheating.
Parts Needed
ProClip mount for your vehicle - $30
ProClip mount for the Note II or Note 3 - $35 ~ $90
(Optional) ProClip Dash Express GPS - Device Mounting Adapter - $25
Process
Attach the ProClip mount to your car
Attach the female quick release to the mount
Attach the male quick release to the tilt swivel adapter
Connect quick releases together
The quick release is optional, you can connect the stock tilt swivel directly to your car mount without it. I have several other devices I place there though so by having the quick release on all my devices it makes swapping them out very simple. You can buy extra individual male adapters for extra devices you own (GPS, car diagnostics, other phones/tablets, etc).
My pictures below show;

I'm not a fan of the windshield mounts because here in Florida the sun gets too hot any time of the year. I've experienced too many phones having heat issues because the bake in the sun.
It does look, sound and COST like an uber car dock mount But wouldn't it be easier instead of spending $100-$140 on ProClip setup that might only work with a specific smartphone footprint and not even every case or extended battery, to buy something like Arkon slim grip ultra (http://www.arkon.com/Slim-Grip Ultra/index.html) for $20-$30 depending on mounting option (and I actually reviewed a lot of car mounts on XDA, including SGU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174449) and make it a universal setup for any smartphone from old iphone to the biggest phablet or Nexus 7 or iPad Mini? I recently tested their SM679 model with a ridiculously sticky suction base, and if I would have [email protected] I would even install one of their permanent rail mounts in my Lex lol!!!
Btw, I also just got their new Mobile Grip 2 (http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/) and that one is sick! Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a broken record advertisement lol!!! , but since I on a road 2hr a day using my Note 2 as Nav, the car mount is important for me especially going through swiss cheese pot hole Jersey roads. I didn't test ProClip, but as you can see from my reviews in sig link, I tested and reviewed all the major car mounts. And still, I keep coming back to Slim Grip Ultra, though might have to switch to Mobile Grip 2 now to use my Note 2 as dash cam.
ProClip makes universal holders too. You can also attach any mount type that has an AMPs interface too. Like I mentioned too, window or vent mounts don't work well in hot and humid states. I also think they look fairly tacky and don't want them in my car.
