Hi Guys,
I unlocked my bootloader, put on a custom recovery and installed Viper's ROM. My phone has a bad microphone and I need to bring it back to Sprint. I downloaded the Sprint HTC One factory RU and I can relock the bootloader, but how to I get rid of the tampered message?
Thanks in advance. I'm not new to the forums, but I sure feel like an idiot asking a question I know I'm going to face palm myself as soon as I hear the answer lol.
Tampered will not/cannot be removed, yet.

This is in the wrong section. As its a question it goes in the QUESTIONS section of the forum. Unfortunately you cannot remove the tampered. Your best bet is to just hope they don't boot into boot loader. Next time try not to root until you have checked enough to know you're fully satisfied with the device

Thanks you so much, I know this will get me back to a stock ROM.
I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed they don't check the boot loader?
It's not that I don't like the phone...the mic is bad on it. Works great on speaker phone and bluetooth, but regular handset mode, it just crackles a bunch.

But it should still say tampered I believe.. Just bring it back and hope they don't look at the boot loader..
Pro tip: if you go in early enough the Techs who they usually send it back to check aren't in yet unless it's a Sprint store that is on point.
If it is a good store then you just screwed yourself if the tech is the guy who opens the doors and you're the only one there when they open. Luckily for me I'm surrounded by horrible Corporate Sprint stores.

You have to re lock yourself before running the ruu.
fastboot oem lock
After the ruu, tampered will be removed but bootloader will display Relocked, instead of Locked

There is no possible way to break the microphone via unlocking the bootloader.
Demand they accept the return and give you another phone. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The manufacturer or reseller has to be able to reasonably show that what YOU did caused YOUR phone to stop functioning correctly. Then and only then can they get out of the warranty.
All that said, this is obviously a legal issue, and you would need to go to court over it if they flat out refuse. Ideally, quoting the law and the relevant sections of it should be enough to get somewhere with Sprint.

What exactly is needed to get that stock bootloader? Thought it would come with or soon after we got the stock RUU. Thanks for taking time to explain.

It will have to come in the of a flashable firmware package, ie for evo 3d PG86IMG.zip. s-off would be a huge help also. I've tried writing my secure flag to 0 but the bootlader reports it can't be done without an sdcard

I sure hope someone is working on those things. I am waiting to unlock my bootloader, get twrp, and root until this all happens. I don't really have a desire to deal all the extra steps if I root before this happens. Plus, I'd like to see s-off as well. Just my preference. Didn't have to go through htc when I had my evo rooted and s-off, hope I can do the same here.

The Mic being bad on your phone has NOTHING to do with rooting or any kind of software modifying so it shouldn't matter of your rooted or not. Take it in and if they cry that it's rooted you should take them to school and teach them the difference between hardware issues and software issues. Cuz your mic being bad is a hardware issue.FYI

As a technician if I noticed you were rooted I would probably test audio output and then test calls with my bluetooth headset. If all of that worked and it was only the physical mic I would exchange it no questions asked...
After messing around with my bootloader last night I did find our particular model id. PN0720000. Also I read about an interesting exploit that may give us s-off. The facepalm exploit has been successfully used to s-off the droid dna and other htc devices. good things could be coming our way

Haha, my heart skipped a few beats there when I read the title. Damn it
Moto shipped the D3 with a locked bootloader, but they will unlock later this year (supposedly).
Plus, per their quote from another Engadget article
We completely understand the operator requirement for security to the end user, and as well, want to support the developer communities desire to use these products as a development platform. It is our intention to enable the unlockable/relockable bootloader currently found on Motorola XOOM across our portfolio of devices starting in late 2011, where carriers and operators will allow it

Motorola will make the first move with the bootloaders, then Verizon (or whoever else) will make theirs. Dunno how long between Motorola and us getting the unlock, but they can delay the process

It's a locked bootloader running 2.3.4 which is extremely tough to crack. Plus you add in the fact that every single known exploit is blocked, that's the development delay.

I doubt we'll see the bootloader unlocked. Look at HTC even. They've released their list of devices they'll be allowing the web-based unlock to happen with and it's over a dozen deep with not a single Verizon device on the list. It's Verizon that doesn't want us to have the unlock, not Motorola.
If Motorola really wanted us to have an unlock they would leak it. Maybe Googlorola will instead?

Motorola probably has a contract with Verizon that they will not unlock the phones without their permission first, which they would be breaching and surely be sued for if they simply just went ahead and did it.

Moto's had a nasty habit of locking bootloaders, which prevents custom kernels from running.
HTC did for awhile, but got some sense and knocked it off. Samsung doesn't lock theirs.
Even if Verizon does permit unlocked bootloaders, Moto still has to implement it. And if they don't, well, we're out of luck until they either change their policy or someone figures out how to get around it.
HTC has publicly stated they are only unlocking bootloaders of phones starting with the Sensation and the EVO 3D and forward; this doesn't include the Thunderbolt.

the unlocked bootloader is a deciding factor in me getting this phone, I have hopes that a developer can get it. God knows how long it'll take if they do actually approve the unlock for it to go through, could be 6-8 months.

In AT&T's letter to Al Franken they mentioned CIQ was disabled on the Vivid and skyrocket because of performance issues when activated, even though it's dormant, and I still want it out. Having the source allows us to tinker with the rom ahead of time so we can build roms before bootloader unlock takes place
You figure most roms are tested via emulation before they are made flashable, these forums will be picking up real shortly, Therefore a bootloader unlock is not far away especially since they released source on the vivid.
I am currently "experimenting" with source. I hope to release a rom after the bootloader unlock and a stable method of permanent root has surfaced on AT&T Vivid Hardware.

Doktor is right; it's not available and is not (yet) needed. Certain people have S-Off just because of either the way their phone happened to come from the factory, or because they just have developer devices.

Oh the irony... LOL :what:
Anyhow, I wish people would stop saying that we don't need it... With s-off, we would not be stuck waiting for carrier signed hboot images; as soon as one carrier released it or someone received a leak, we would all be able to use it. Right now, each user is stuck waiting for their carrier. So, all the Canadian users are stuck on GB for now for example.

As far as I understand it the firmware from onr will not work with the other. Irregardless of s-off, the radio for ics I think was change so you would still need your carriers updated radio.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I can't comment on whether there was a change of radio from GB to ICS in the releases so far. However, I can tell you that Rogers and Bell in Canada use the same frequencies and protocols as US AT&T. I have an AT&T SIM that I use when travelling in the US and my Raider works fine. So I infer that either the radios are identical (att vs Bell, not GB vs ICS) or compatible. With S-Off, I would be up and running.
Also, if I understand correctly, with S-off, we would be free to mix and match, so I could try the ATT ICS Rom, with the Bell GB radio. Anyhow, all wishful thinking for now.

Hey guyssssssss I live in Puerto Rico and my 4.3 update just got to me SEP/30
I used the standard process for unloocking bootloader /TMWP Recovery/ SuperSU/ and installed costom ROM. And everything is still working. If anyone else got the update please tell me.

Here here not smoking nothing. 5 hours of semi bricked device and I am back. No joke I can't get back to stock. RUU's dont work so I cant replicate what I did in a video. Tried to update but since I had a costume recovery kept falling to update ( even though the phone was forcing me to update everytime) decided to use the original RUU and update all the way throu. At 4 updates later I finally had it. All the bloatware from HTC wanted to update and so did sprint. What I first ran to check was the VVM because I know is not working on 4.3 and in fact had an update. Extracted the .apk and .odex and are on other post. And whent ahead and unlocked bootloader wish did normaly. Next went to install recovery and so it did. Then installed super user. All good. Final step change ROM so I did. When came the time to do it all again I couldnt. When I relocked phone it erased side loaded ROM and RUU don't work. Hit error as is tries to identify version. Hope HTC releases the update. If anyone has any way of getting RUU to work please page me. I would love to replicate the update for you guys
A ~250MB update is going to be the 1.31.651.2 OTA. If it is anything different than 4.1.2 then please post screen shot of About Phone -> Software Information screen. Appreciate it.

Hey guyssssssss I live in Puerto Rico and my 4.3 update just got to me SEP/30 if you guys need anything just tell me and I will send it to you. (It was a 250 MB update)
I used the standard process for unloocking bootloader /TMWP Recovery/ SuperSU/ and installed costom ROM. And everything is still working. If anyone else got the update please tell me.
I already posted the new Sprint VVM in hopes it will fix the problems people are having with the 4.3 roms. I dont know how to compile it so i added the .apk and the .odex if something else is missing please tell me.
YAYYYYYYYYYY 4.3 is HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I will post pics very soon
If in fact it has been updated to 4.3 it is extremely easy to pull OTAs from HTC devices versus any other manufacturer

At the same time I would highly highly doubt that this will be the 4.3 OTA due to a custom ROM will most likely have major issues due to the firmware update and all from the new OTA.

I hope for your sake that you are just misunderstanding something because the mods have said that the next person to post a thread about a fake 4.3 update is going to get banned. The 4.3 update is not just 250 mb as has been said and is just the 1.31 update which is still 4.1.2.

Wowwww. Lots of hate from everyone. I am a reputable person. I have created a guide for Kindle Fire 2 when it did not had yet costume ROMs. And helped people hack their Kindle 2. I may not be a coder but I know my way around android. Wow lots of hate

I wasn't hating man. What you report makes no difference to me unless I seen it on my phone.. I was just making lite of the situation because everyone is taking it so serious.. Sorry if I offended you... Carry-on.

Hey, they aren't hating. They just don't like being teased. This site sometimes has the worst trolls. I read your history. You seem reputable. It just seems odd that you have this update. Maybe you got it, maybe you thought you did but were mistaken. A simple screenshot would end and presumed hostility.

No offense thrown at ya for my comments on the beginning of thread. Just believe you have taken on the 1.31.651.2 OTA judging based on size of update alone. I just wanted a screenshot is all. Not everyone is hating here lol go look at the first few comments in this thread again lol

OP unless you post a real screenshot any thread you start on this is going to end in a flame war due to this claim being highly unlikely
