I've been using a Galaxy S3 LTE version on 3 in the UK for the last 6-10 months. I've recently bought a HTC One 2nd hand, which came with an O2 stock ROM.
I remember when I checked initially, in 'Network mode' there were 4 options, the last one of which mentioned LTE. I did a speed test and got somewhere in the region of 10 or 11mbps.
I've now flashed two different custom ROM's and neither had those 4 options, just 2, neither mentioning LTE or 4G.
Now, I know 3 doesn't have LTE yet, but they do have DC-HSDPA, which is usually available on phones that are LTE capable.
I've just done a speed test on the HTC One and then my S3 LTE, the One score 7 mbps, the S3 10 mbps.
So, any ideas how I can get the LTE option back?

Since you know the speed that you are getting now, have you tried flashing your M7 back to a stock rom (there are plenty of links available for you to do this) and seen what speed you get with that? If the speed is the same on a stock ROM, then you know it's not a ROM issue.
I have found a RUU that will take it back to stock, which I was thinking to try, but then as I say, I know I could get 10mbps already, is there really anything to gain doing this?
I may anyway. If I can get DC back, I would stick with that ROM and root probably.
Any links for the O2 stock ROM though? That's what I know had it.

2. I was getting download speeds on 3 of 12-15 mbps.
3. The phone is advertised as having DC-HSDPA.
All One models sold in the UK are 4G. The difference appears to be that some have the 4G option disabled by the operator, but I guess this can be changed easily by a sim update by the operator.
Sorry to be a pain, but one thing I realise is H+ can give you speeds up over 10mbps, surely that's not proof that you're getting DC-HSDPA? Can you remember what Network Signal Info said in the connection type?
I was getting 15mbps on speedtests with 3 (without 4G/LTE option in settings). It's unlikely to get 15mbps on just H+, because the theoretical maximum is 21mbps (EE on H+ only gets 2mbps on a speedtest). I can't remember what Network Signal Info said the network type was, but the speed next to it said 42mbps - which is DC-HSDPA.
What speeds do you get on a speedtest?
Edit: Just seen that you say you get 10 or 11. I don't think you will get higher than that in London on DC-HSDPA. In a city centre I was getting 8-10, and 15 away from the city.
I'm just back from work, where I scored a 11mbps whilst I only had an H connection, so I was thinking maybe I am getting DC... then I've read this -

It definitely doesn't say 42mbps as my max in the app. If it switches to H+ it jumps to 21 max, but I've not seen 42 while I'm on the custom ROM.

10 or 11 is (was) on a DC enabled phone, with the LTE option. On a custom ROM I hadn't gotten above 7, until I got the 11 at work. I'm rather confused though if you say the app knows when you have DC. I think I need to do a bit more testing on my S3 LTE...
**EDIT** Interestingly, on my S3 it says 'HSPA (14.4Mbit/s)', so it doesn't mention DC, but has doubled up the maximum speed. HSPA+ still shows as a maximum of 21Mbit/s though.
Also, the S3 does list LTE in the 'Network mode' options.

I can't imagine it being specific to O2 (given O2 doesn't have LTE). Just flash any stock ROM.
So using the O2 stock Nandroid I got from this thread I have the LTE option back, although only 3 options in all, I recall there were 4 on the original ROM I had.
I just clocked a 12 Mbit/s download, which I think is the fastest I've seen from home. Check that, second run and I've just got 17.28 Mbps!!! That's FAR better than I've ever had before!
Network Signal Info still only says either HSDPA at 7.2 or H+ at 21.6 though
Now I just need to figure how I can apply the 1.29.206.11 OTA. I think I need to go back to stock recovery to apply it, then I hope I can come back to CWM and then root...

Firstly, when I'm not using wifi my internet seems awefully slow. I try and use it when the signal is on G and about 2 or 3 bars, but it takes forever to load pages. It also takes ages to load the facebook news feed. Any ideas?
I have heard about ICS, but I don't know if my phone is actually running this. How do I find out?
Lastly, what is LTE? What does it stand for? Does it make the phone any better? How do I find out if my note is the LTE version?
Yes, you have only got 2.5G, not a 3G/HSPA signal. Check your phone network settings to ensure your mode is set to AUTO and not GSM only. Check your manual.
As for LTE, google is your best friend.
I have found out that LTE stands for long term evolution, but how do I know if my phone is the LTE version?

This what LTE stands for

Since you don't know what LTE is, I would assume you don't have it at your locale, i.e. there is no point knowing whether your Note supports it or not, am I right?

You've used 'i.e.' where you should have actually used 'therefore.' Let's not try and be clever. All I wanted to know was if my phone was the LTE version. It is quite a simple question.
Maybe there is no point in me knowing, but I am just interested. Your comment was of no use.

The LTE version is the I717 model, not the N7000, which is the international HSPA version.
Did you get your connectivity speed back up to 3G?
Hi Joe
So are there any I717 models issued in the UK or is it mainly for other countries?
Well I have done, yes, but even with H signal (which I think is 3G?) my internet is still very slow on some websites. Just for example, it took a good 5 minutes to try and load the xda forums yesterday.
With wifi on everything is super fast and after doing a speed test I think it achieved 9mbps, but with 3G it only managed 1mbps.
Just another point. I used to use my iPhone as a hotspot and the speed of the internet on my laptop was really fast, I think it was running at around 5mbps.
This just seems a bit strange. It's almost as if something isn't working properly.
Bump.

Probably not. T-Mobile's and ATTs 3g bands were different frequencies (1700mhz vs 850/1900). However, in some places T-mobile has started to use 1900mhz and unlocked ATT devices will work. This seems to be random right now and even T-mobile support may not be able to tell you where.
Or you can do what I did, and get nrvate's CM10 build for the i957 (I'm a noob so no links for me yet) then flash this radio: Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip (Google it). I get full HSPA+ and have clocked DL speeds up to 19000kbs. Of course YMMV, and no guarantees that it will work for you, won't brick your tab or kill your pets.

Yeah it works well with the only problem being the power usage is rather high, and drains faster in idle. After looking at logcat I think this radio doesn't go into idle mode properly so keeps sucking power when not in use. Running it's a little less usage (maybe 30 min less) but on idle it drains in 24 hrs. Turning off 3g helps but for me I can live with this to get 20mb down. When ICS for the i957 finally shows up it should be possible to see a better radio get put in CM10 (which is still in early development, but that's what the ROM below is based on).
I'm using TWRP for recovery. After Clockwork being kind of wonky I have seen the light and use TWRP on all my devices. It just works.
The ROM is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867579 and go to post#2. There are some issues but it runs remarkably well for being like 3 weeks old.
This is the radio I used from a Galaxy SII. Google Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip and get it from Dev Host. I found out about it looking at radios for similar hardware and found that the Note is close so I took a chace and did it. So far so good!

This is great to hear. I am going to hold off for now, as I would have to open a TMobile account, and I really dont NEED to have this until I start traveling in a few months.
Now what would be AMAZING, is if somehow this tablet could work on verizon. I have a huge corporate account with them and it would cost me next to nothing to add the tablet to the account, assuming it would work. I didn't think it was possible, but then again, I didn't think TMobile high speed connection was possible either.
Any idea if there is a way to get this working on verizon? Or if anyone is even trying?

I can tell you that is impossible. T-Mobile uses GSM and Verizon uses CDMA. You can only put a SIM card device on GSM carriers (TMO and ATT).

I could not tell you as T-Mobile doesn't have LTE yet. TMO will use a band that the i957 can support, but it will probably take another radio (if any) to work. I've seen 21mb down from HSPA+ so even if I never see LTE I can't be too disappointed

Yes it is. The device was locked at ATT and AFAIK there is no other way other than going through a unlock service. I used cellunlocker.net. $25 and your IMEI gets you a code in a few hours.

As I said that is impossible because the carriers use incompatible setups. SIM card carriers (GSM) will only work with other SIM card carriers. Verizon uses CDMA with no SIM cards. The networks themselves are completely different and hardware cannot be hacked to work. Most of the world uses GSM with SIM cards and if you travel overseas, you'll need a GSM device to use unlocked devices on any networks. Blame Verizon for picking a standard that 80% of the world doesn't use

If it only happens in your city, then you should contact your carrier. Maybe your phone is using a different band or something.
But I severely doubt it is the phone's problem if two phones have it and it only happens in your city.

See what frequencies the Note and One respectively are capable of on your carrier.
And it's really on H+, huh?

I've also got my first with T-Mobile but all I can get is hspa+ yes we've got the necessary radios for LTE but the phone isn't programmed in a way that it can use them. You'll need a T-Mobile specific RUU for that. But our first is a at&t only handset so none is existent. Will something from the mini work? Maybe. But it's likely that you would end up with a brick. And I don't believe that a T-Mobile specific one exists. Go ahead an try it if you want tho and mess around with stuff but... Beware

Don't worry about it too much. Hspa+ speeds are great! I get an average of 8mbs down! But I'm in a completely refarmed area. Make sure to check on your device info whether you're getting hspa+ or umts as you might need a different APN. (Umts is 3g but shows up as 4g)
It's HSPA+. However, I live on the edge of the reframed area. In my city I get anywhere from .5 down, up to as high as 3MBs. On lte it was around 10-20 down.

4 and 5. Specific at&t settings.

Alright my device didn't soft brick and still gets data! Sadly I'm in a 2g only area right now so it'll be a while until I can report back with any results. Hoping this improves something!
Had time to test it out now and there's no difference. Or at least not very noticeable so I returned to stock settings
I also didn't notice any difference. Thanks tho.
a little difference
i went from 10 mb up and 1 down to
15 mb up and 3 down so ill take it
now if some one can help me get 4g lte on this thing that would be great cause i cant figure it out
Could you please verify that your t-mobile sim works with LTE network in other t-mobile phones? Maybe problem in sim cart, cause LTE bands 2 and 4 that used by t-mobile are supported by this phone.

And what the reason of speed increase? Please share.
Does anybody know why my data on the nexus 6 is so slow only time it's decent is in the early morning hours like 2am 3am etc but I know you're gonna say well maybe the network is congested no every other phone I have gets decent speeds all day even my sons Alcatel one touch which is a hspa phone my hspa speeds are faster on my nexus than LTE, my Z3, unlocked droid maxx and lg g2 all get almost 30mbs down and bout 15up while my nexus maxes out at like 2mbs down and 8mb up. I'm on 5.1 stock unrooted

Do you have the Unlimited LTE Data plan?
I've had this as well. I'm on T-Mobile in Phoenix Arizona. When I'm out and about, I'll run speed tests and range anything from .50 Mbps to 4mbps download speeds on LTE. Well, that's assuming I can even connect to data. Usually just get the ! instead.
Yes I have unlimited LTE
I'm on unlimited. When I sideloaded the 5.0.1 D OTA update my phone was fast. When I switched to the 5.1 M update it slowed to down a lot. I flashed 5.1.1 T-Mobile update and it's still slow. It doesn't matter the time of day or server. It's just slow. Right now I'm on 5.1.1 unrooted. I'm thinking about flashing the 95R radio from the 5.0.1 update and see what happens.
Edit: My 3G is faster than my LTE. My Nexus 5 is fast.

My APN is the fast.T-Mobile.com APN that came with the phone I deleted all the other apns
im having a weird data issue too. connectivity on lte and wifi or both erratic after updating to 5.1.1 last night. going to wipe it this am and see if that fixes it.
Same here.
Since moving from my Note 3 (16 to 20 Mbps down) to my beloved Nexus 6 I am getting horrible speeds. This morning a little more than 1 Mbps. I put in a repeater to see if that would help speeds, but no. I was just assuming that I was on an oversold tower. I AM on the unlimited plan. I have also been wondering if I am throttled. I go to my father in laws house and I have gotten 50Mbps down on this Nexus. I would like to add that I don't think it is the phone. I used an adapter and put my nano Sim back in my Note 3 and got the identical results. So it leads me to look at my service being cut or my tower oversold.
Something is wrong with my APN I use the stock APN that comes on the phone it's slow but there is also an APN for metro PCs if I use that one it's get like 10mb down and up maybe I need the stock T-Mobile apn
