Can't flash xperia x8 - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
When i try to flash the mobile, using flash tool, i connect it pressing back bottom (flash mode), the green light turns on and a few secons later it turns off and appear the charging screen and nothing happens... sometimes it worked, yesterday worked one time with a back up of the original rom, but i need a free rom to use another sim card.
I rooted it some time ago, but i installed some rooms to test them and i don't know if i need to root again (if its rooted yet). I tried to root with supereasyclick, but i got no lucky with 2 versions of the app. With the last version of flash tool the root bottom is grey and i don't know how to do it, also i don't know if i need to unlock the bootloader again...
So i'm trying to flash the mobile with nAa kernel and it seems imposible to me...
Please help me!

Did you unlock your bootloader? If not, check your manufacture date from the battery. It says "10wXX" or "11wXX" or "12wXX". When your device is past 11w29 and above like 11w29,11w30,...... you can't unlock your bootloader. What happens when you can't? You can NEVER FLASH OTHER KERNELS except your STOCK KERNEL to your device! And also the STOCK FIRMWARE you can only FLASH! So that's why it can't properly enter into the flash mode.
Some tips for you: Start flashtool first if you're trying to flash back to original firmware. And choose the files and ok and wait for it for preparing files and when it says to start to flash mode and connect! Then you press your back button to your device FIRST and connect USB and when it turns green LED, you can let it go I meant the BACK button! Hope it helped!
Click "Thanks" If I helped you out!

You can root with SuperOneClick ShortFuse! Connect your device in USB debugging!
Settings > Applications > Development > Tick "USB Debugging"
And connect your device to your computer and click "Root" button on SuperOneClick and wait for it! And then, Viola! Your device is now rooted!
You have to reboot your device for first time to make root access work! Then install Root Explorer and Superuser will prompt for root access!
That way you can tell it is successfully rooted!
P.S: This guide for you is only for 2.1 Stock Firmware

Ok, the manufacture date is 10W45, so should work perfectly. What tool can i use to unlock the bootloader? The objective is unlock the sim restriction, so if there is a easiest way, just tell me please.
When i flashed yesterday the backup i exclude TA (simlock.ta) to see if without that, the sim locker is removed, but nothing...
The flash tool version im using is "0.9.10.2beta6 built on 2013-04-21 22:23:00" (java version 1.7.0_17 64bits Edition)
I installed pc companion, and drivers were installed too. Also drivers from flash tool folder (x8, flashmode and fastboot)
Really... i don't know why flash tool doesn't recognize the phone when i plugged in, i don't know what it recognize when i start it... here the full log (debug). Also, the backup i flashed (downloaded from internet) is e15a and my phone is e15i, does it matter?
Please, give me working tools to unlock bootloader or something else (links)
Thanks!

now its rooted and i want to install different roms what should i do i mean what should be my next step? should i install Clockwork Mod recovery if yes then how??
Next Step
If you just wanted to install ROM's then you didn't have to unlock boot loader
you could have just rooted it using superoneclick or the way you did and install a recovery by following the link in the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921652
then press backspace during load to enter recovery , full wipe(if your now in stock rom)and install custom.zip or update.zip of any rom you like(that works on stock kernel) and reboot.
But since you are unlocked...you can install a better faster kernel like naa or alf
by following the thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350484
(you search for alf yourself in development forum)
and then install a rom that uses these kernel the same way using recovery or flash tool if you hav ".ftf"
1 more thing i want to install Clockwork mod instead of xrecovery how to do that ?
2ndly in order to check bootoader on HTC cellphone we press power button + volume down button
how to check bootloader on X8?
Never Installed Clock Work Mod
I have Never Installed Clock Work Mod...but it always seems to come with all ROM's I install. First I install xrecovery and install any popular ROM....n then TADAA i have CW MOD
Anyway you can install it using x8 toolbox by going here,

On PC: Go to Alfs kernel thread--> download Alfs v07 kernel--> place it to /flashtool/firmwares, run flashtool, select flash (lightning icon), select Alfs v07, click ok. On phone: Turn off phone, press back button and hold it, attach phone to PC while pressing back button, green led appears, release back button, let the PC work. When Flashtool give the "flashing finished" message, unplug the phone. Turn it on. When it shows kernel logo, press back repeatedly to enter recovery. Install custom.zip, choose your ROM, wait, reboot.
This should work. If not, try PC companion or Sony Ericcson Update Service.

Now I can flash it but it isn't reboot just say device disconnected, then device connected in flash mode, then device disconnected, then flashing aborted
nearly the same problem here trying to unlock the bootloader on my E15i.
Would appreciate if anyone has a suggestion how to overcome this. Thanks
Try this

What?! First of all - not volume down but BACK button.
In flashtool directory You will have drivers folder. Install those drivers. Then reboot Your PC. Copy Your firmware package into firmwares in flashtool directory (.ftf files). Than run flashtool, click on flash, choose the package, click ok, flashtool will aks You to connect Your phone in flash mode. Plug USB cable into PC. Plug in USB cable into phone and while doing this You must hold back button. And flashtool should recognize Your device and start flashing.

I'm trying GingerDX now, and I making an ''XPERIA X8 MEGAPACK''
Anyway, I do not know why this is:
When I first installed gingerDX i have installed many apps. And when I'll removed this backup, and I installed this rom again, the phone freezes at the boot screen.
(I know how to do it. I flashed the stock rom from my backup, and It is working. But I cannot make a backup from this rom
Because You should do a full wipe When You install ROM again there are some files from old one. And this may cause boot problem

Generally speaking, bootloops imply you are missing the x15 Baseband required for custom ROMs to work: Follow the mediafire link in B.Jay's profile and find the x15 Baseband corresponding to your X8 version (It's in the sticker under the battery)... Hope this helps.

[Q] lost flashmode (only able to run fastboot mode)

It seems my LT30p lost flashmode.
After upgrading to 7.0.A.3.195 via "Sony PC Companion 2.1" I flashed the older LT30p_4.0.4_Vodafone.ftf with the flashtool to get back root option.
All works fine.
Now I want to flash the "LT30p_7.0.A.3.195_Vodafone_DE.ftf" I created from the "Sony PC Companion" folder with flashtool.
My problem is, the phone only is able to go into fastboot mode (irrelevant pressing volume down or up).
I re-installed the flashtool-drivers without any improvements.
What have I done and how am I able to get back the flashmode mode for my phone?
Thanks in advance.

You seem to be going around the houses. If you flash that you will lose root again. The only way to root on .195 is with an unsecure kernal and unlocked bootloader.
Just upgrade again through pccompanion and then unlock bootloader and flash advanced stock kernel v4.

Thank you. I know that at first I lost root again.
I thought (and that's I understood from that post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33568696&postcount=48) that it will possible to flash the ftf file instead of using the "PC Companion" software. I am not happy to lose my holo hd launcher's settings e.g.
I hoped it will work as you described here:

But I don't understand why the "flashboot mode" will not reached, my phone only comes into fastboot mode.
Sorry for noob questions, I am native german speaker and school (and english) are many years ago. The Xperia T is my first Sony, I come from Samsung Galaxy phones.

But I don't understand why the "flashboot mode" will not reached, my phone only comes into fastboot mode.

OK, There is no such thing as flashboot mode. Its either flashmode or fastboot.
Try this
download and install latest flashtool.
Goto driver folder and install drivers for fastboot/flashmode/xperia tx
Then open flashtool and drag and drop the .ftf you want to flash into the open window of flashtool. Wait untill flashtool tells you to connect phone.
Turn phone off, count to 10, hold volume down button and connect usb cable

I turned my phone off und waited until an hour!

The phone never goes to flashmode since flashing the older ftf, only in fastboot mode, no matter if I hold the bottom down or up button.
That's the problem. I don#t know what happend to the phone, but there is no flashmode any more.
It might be, that there is no flashmode with that ftf?

I did all of them more than once except using PC Companion. Thank you.
I will not use this tool, because it's not my favor to re-install the halo hd gui and moving other tools via root explorer. I'll wait for OTA, if vodafone germany will rollout 7.0.A.3.195 via ota.
If not, I'll see and look further. But I explain, this has been my first and also my very last Sony Smartphone.
thanks again.

You give up too easily.
Uninstall flashtool and all sony software from your PC and reinstall.
Also, you can make a backup of your system using recovery and flash your /data back in recovery after you have sorted the problem.
Personally, i will never get another phone other than sony.

Thanks again, I am familiar with CWM. I used many different roms with my Galaxy S1 and later with my SIII, too.
With Samsung flashing firmware / custom roms is much easier then with Sony Xperia.
I installed all the needed stuff on an other computer I have in my household and voila it works.
I flashed the rom without wipe data and it works, still without root.
After unlocking boot loader and flashing the V4 comes the shock: all my apps are gone and I have to re-install all my stuff, accounts, gui and so on. I hate that work. Okay, Titanium Backup helps, but it costs many time to get back that system I have had previously.
CWM is a great thing to flashing ROMs and kernels, too. Also great if you want to restore an full image, but to restore (user) data often Titanium Backup is the better choise. But that are only my two cents.

If you read the whole of the instructions from the SOny site about unlocking the bootloader it clearly states that all data will be lost and that you should make a backup of it.
Certain content on your phone may also be inaccessible due to the removal of DRM security keys and the secure user data partition while unlocking the boot loader. We advise you to create backups, since user data, settings and accounts will be removed.

X8 flashing problems
Hey I will tell you what to do.
First of all install Sony Ericsson Update Service or SEUS. Just Google it and you can find it easily!
Now connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
Start SEUS.
Then follow the on-screen instructions.(You will be asked to select your phone model, update or repair your phone etc)But its easy!!!!!
Then leave the rest to SEUS.
It will first repair your phone, then download the stock rom and kernel and also the baseband and will automatically install them.
After that you will have your X8 on stock rom,it will be updated to the latest baseband and kernel.
Now you will be able to comfortably restart your phone and you can install custom roms from here!!!!!
Don't forget to say THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another kernel was installed with no errors. Why CM not install, but JB install?

Xperia SP almost dead after flashing. Need help.

I flashed my Xperia SP with from Jellybeam to CM13 rom. I didn't create any backup, wiped clean everything including cache using twrp recovery. While the setup installed CM13 without any error but I downloaded the wrong gapps and the setup didn't accept those. So I chose to reboot the cell and since then it just stopped responding. Although it is showing the green led while plugged in via USB, it won't start in neither fastboot nor recovery mode.
I'm stuck here and have no idea what to do.
I tried installing PC companion, flashtools, SP flashtools, emma, everything. None of these detect my cell. I'm using Windows 10 (64 bit) and am at a dead end.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE:
I managed to flash it with errors and now it's stuck in a SONY logo bootloop. Its starts, shows SONY logo for a while and then turns off again. Again it's not getting recognised by any flash tool, sony companion etc.
Help please.

Hey!
Sad to hear, but maybe (I hope) this method will help you. Basically what you will get is an original Xperia SP with 4.1 android as it came from the factory.
You will need:
1. Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde" version 0.9.18.6. Don't know if newer version came or better. You can find it here in forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489955
2. The basic ROM "12.0.A.2.254".
The method that helped me:
SP turned off. Cable not connected.
Start Sony Mobile Flasher (Flashtool) , give administrator rights.
Top left cornet click on the bolt and choose flashmode, then in firmware selector you can find and select the downloaded ROMs and kernels. Choose the official 4.1 (12.0.A.2.254). Click falsh so it starts to proceed.
Then a windows appears called "wait for flashmode".
Now. Grab your turned off SP press volume down and connect the usb to pc. Keep holding volume down button till flashtool starts to upload the system. (Hopefully it will be fast enough, and phone will not turn on. For me it was)
After flashtool is finished you will see:
09:50:53 - INFO - Flashing finished.
09:50:53 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
09:50:53 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
09:50:54 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
Unplug and start the SP
If everything went as planned you have your phone back with stock 4.1 and 12.0.A.2.254 kernel.

Thanks a lot brother. At first it didn't work when I flashed it with the latest version of Flasher. Then I installed the exact version you mentioned (0.9.18.6) and phone didn't boot during the flashing and now it's back to normal with the default 4.1 stock.
Thanks a bunch, you're a life saver for me. :highfive:
