[Q] Problem with HTC One - M7 (401-EU) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm newbie with HTC phones and android OS.
Last Wednesday (1 May 2013), I bought a HTC One (M7).
I updated my phone to 1.29.401.13 at work
Cause I needed to to install ProxyDroid and this app needs root access, I decided too root my new phone, I followed this instruction at home:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182792
When I went to work on Saturday, I couldn't connect to wifi. Nothing has been changed in our company network.
After searching I found some topics in deterrent websites and forums, they suggested to unroot and install stock ROM.
I downloaded and tried to install stock ROMs from http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=M7
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4.exe
and another file from another forum:
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
when I run the files and it staring, after a while I get this :
Error[140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
How can I go back to my first day phone ?
Regards

Code:
fastboot getvar version-main

you can't run any RUU casue you have the highest version-main at the moment... you can't flash RUUs that are previously released than the 1.29 software, you can anctually run newer RUUs...at the moment the only possibility for you to get back to stock is to flash a nandroid backup that matches your cid

so you can't change any setting?

Well easy enough:
* Guru Reset ROMs, are installed the same way as any other ROM, by selecting "install zip" in custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
* ruu.zip, are flashed in ruu mode:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <name of ruu>.zip
fastboot flash zip <name of ruu>.zip <- yes TWICE
fastboot reboot-bootloader

No need to "Sir" around here, we're (usually) a friendly bunch
I don't know of any 4.20.707.6 (or higher ruu's... there could be but i havent looked), otherwise you need to s-off (to be able to downgrade) and use:
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_..._10-30-1131-05_release_309365_signed_2_4-exe/
EDIT, or this ruu.zip: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip...0-13_10-33-1150-01_release_311678_signed-zip/
unless if you can find an RUU which is 4.20.707.6 or higher.

okay, so you have an "(bootloader) product: m7_ul"
so from the beginning
1- do you have TWRP 2.6.3.3+?
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
or
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7ul
2- what ROM are you trying to flash?
3- just run WinMD5.EXE and drag and drop the ROM you're trying to install, it'll give you a funky number... you compare that to the place you downloaded the ROM from to make sure the zip isnt corrupt
^^ BTW: I did say "friendly bunch" (usually)... the least you could do is http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=how+do+i+check+md5

get a custom ROM, for example: ARHD 53.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023
install that using TWRP, at least you'll have a functioning phone. until you figure out the rest.
i was just thinking maybe the reason i was getting this error "error flashing zip '/sdcard/rom.zip" is because my phone is S-ON and that the ruu i was trying ti install is not compatible with my phone. by the way, what is the bases of having a older version or newer version since it has 7 digits in it. what i know is that for S-OFF phones having 4.20.707.6 can install other ruus as long as it is x.xx.707.x, am i right? what are the possible higher version of my phone? 4.20.707.8 something or 4.21.707.1? just an, example

mate,
1- ARHD 53.0 is compatible with your phone, otherwise I wouldnt have suggested it !!
2- S-On / S-Off doesn't affect custom ROMs... you can deal with S-Off later
3- "i was getting this error error flashing zip '/sdcard/rom.zip" -> is because it's either NOT A ROM, or a bad download.... you CANNOT use TWRP for RUU
so in conclusion, for the time being at least, maybe longer(?), just to have a working phone: download ARHD 53.0
put that on your phone, and install using TWRP
when asked to "Wipe user partition" -> select WIPE

Your main problem is you do it the wrong way.
You cannot fastboot flash zip ROM.zip.
The same thing with your problem of trying to install an AT&T ROM to your ASIA WWE device.
What you need to do is :
1. Re-unlock your bootloader if it is relocked
2. Make sure you flash a right recovery for Intl one either M7_u or M7_ul
3. Download a ROM.zip either you want to use my 4.20.707.6 ROM.zip or ARHD or any ROM.zip but it must be the intl version not AT&T
4. You need to put the ROM.zip that you downloaded onto the sdcard
a- either use ADB sideload
b- or ADB push in recovery (but you must have the correct driver install to your PC and right ADB version too)
c- or the easiest way is use the OTG function in the recovery with an OTG cable where you put the ROM.zip on a flash drive.
5. In recovery, make a full wipe and select install and browse to the ROM.zip to install

5. In recovery, make a full wipe and select install and browse to the ROM.zip to install

[SOLVED] No imei and ROM install seems incomplete

Hi all,
First, i would like to apologize for my poor english.
Then, i have some problems with my HTC M7.
Yesterday, when i woke up, my phone was shut down. I thought that i had no battery anymore. (i had less than 10% when i went to bed so, it's possible).
Well, plug my phone in the charger, and wait... and, when he booted, i could not use my phone as usually: no PIN code, no ability to make phone call... After a few minutes, i saw that the IMEI zone was empty.
I was not worrying, and though that a simple cache cleearing could help me... Well, it was not...
Now, i'm not able to use my phone AT ALL.
He's rooted, S-OFF, and i tried to install 3 or 4 different roms but same problem.
The ROM install has some difficulties to be finished: in fact, on each rom i tried to install, i have now the same problem;
-> No IMEI
-> When i want to compose a phone number, the dialer does not appear
-> A message "com.htc.htcdialer isn't responding" appears every minute...
I tried to install another dialer, same problem...
I'm really lost.
hope that somebody could help me?
Regards,
Cyril
PS: For information, after the incident, my phone was not rooted anymore and was S-ON, i don't know if it was already the case before the incident...
UPDATE: Finally, i succeed to install a rom.
Everything works fine now, but still no imei present...

Then, i can only click on ReadMe or Recovery, but nothing relevant after that.

Well, it's not ok, with this rom too i can't update my phone...
Maybe should i have to find a 3.62 RUU in order to update?

What do you mean, can't update... you mean the ruu isn't working?
if so, then get this one: ruu_m7ul_1.28.401.7.zip
AFH mirror: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407584993
then (after making sure MD5 is correct), rename the file to ruu.zip, and:
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip <- yes TWICE, the first one will report “failed flush again”, the second one will succeed.
fastboot reboot-bootloader
there is no need to relock bootloader or anything else with S-OFF (and stay S-OFF, don't even think about S-On!!)
if you want to see what kind of output to expect, check my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47794257&postcount=8 (post 8) which has a some visual feedback of what to expect. (disregard the guide, i'm just linking it for you to get an idea of what kind of output to expect)

BTW, if you going for 4.4 ROMs, use TWRP: get TWRP from:

[CLOSED]No boot after update firmware. Bootloader runs. Can you help?

Hi everyone. I have one issue with my HTC One (Nextel Mexico).
I followed the steps to the letter but my HTC One stopped booting when I updated the firmware version 2.24.599 to 5.11.1540.9
Before I tried with versions 2.x but the model and the CID number did not match:
modelid: PN0713000
cidnum: HTC__332
After, I can send by "adb sideload" method "Android Revolution HD 71.1" ROM but HTC One do not boot anyway.
Another information:
-Unlocked with htcdev.com (S-ON).
-Custom recovery ClockworkMod Touch v6.0.4.6
-I tried to flash one more time with "Android Revolution HD 71.1" ROM and de insallation did stop at 30%.
-When I did update firmware, the progress bar did not finish never but the versions changed.
Someone can help me please? I'm very sad.
Thanks on advance.

Thanks so much for your help bro. I appreciate it.
I flashed it with this version because I did not found .599 versions and the 2.x versions do not match with CID number.
I searched it in this link:
Code:
http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC%2FHTC_One%2F
And I used this firmware:
Code:
http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/HTC/HTC_One/1540/5.11.1540.9.zip
I can change to TWRP, but I don't know with which firmware I should flash it.

ah ok, consider yourself lucky, because quite a few users used the .1540. firmwares, and were unable to get unlocked again
now just flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 and install the ROM of your choice, here is some more detailed info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53270352&postcount=21
consider yourself lucky your phone even switches on after flashing the wrong firmware and that you don't have a nice shiny new paperweight, once you've got a custom rom on there, get s-off as soon as possible and change your CID and MID to match the firmware you flashed.

I don't get it, why nobody wants to read
E) If the ROM is no longer on your phone
then you can use one of three methods:
1- OTG cable
2- adb push <name of rom>.zip /sdcard/
3- initiate sideload in custom recovery, then adb sideload <name of rom>.zip
example of adb push is also there

your phone is s-off which mean you can use every RUU out there. JUst change your CID/MID if required before running the ruu. If you dont want to use a ruu, you can flash a stock guru reset rom or stock odexed rom that match your firmware version.

Thank you so much for getting back to me!
1. Because I've installed loads of ROMS and not one I like or they intend to freeze etc
2. I'm more then happy to go back unbranded as long as I can still get OTA updates
3. Nope

hmm, I haven't had problems with most ROMs I've tried, but to each his own
change CID to international WWE unbranded:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 <- two underscores (CID is exactly 8 chars)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem readcid
^^ confirm it now says HTC__001
then you run RUU:
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe
let me know if you have problems with that ruu, in which case you'd need to first downgrade your firmware.
I have a decrypted 1.28 version, that would flash pretty easily, but then you'd have to take a lot more OTA's... if that doesn't bother you let me know and i'll link instructions to it.
Anyway, i'll decrypt the 4.19 version and upload, but that's gonna take more than a few hours to upload.
PS: the RUU, will obviously wipe EVERYTHING off your phone, so backup to PC first, and yes, OTAs will be fine even with unlocked bootloader

[Q] Upgrading Firmware and stuff

Hey XDA.
I have an HTC M7 currently with ARHD.
How I did it since now, was to unlock bootloader, get a custom recovery and then flash the custom ROM zip.
Now I found out that I should flash base(?) firmware zips and then then Custom ROMs and Radio and stuff like that.
After reading all that I got a little confused.
Can somebody explain me what I should do?

Weather you need to update firmware or not depends on your current firmware. And version of the ROM, I assume your running the latest 92 lollipop Rom.
Can you please post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
please remove your IMEI and Serial number before posting. :good:
Then we can see if you need to update your firmware. And which firmware you need.

Your firmware is very old. But maybe not such a bad thing at the moment. Have you ever considered going s-off. If you have it would be better to do it now before updating your firmware.
Your currently on hboot 1.55 which you can s-off for free using rumrunner. Once you update past 1.55 your only option for s-off will be Sunshine which costs $25 to use. Also updating firmware while s-off is much easier since you won't need to relock your bootloader.
Your current firmware base is for jellybean. So you will probably have some problems with the latest lollipop roms. You should update to get the most out of your device and the latest roms. But I do recommend going s-off first. :good:

Yeah that's what I would recommend. S-off first
Then you can find all firmware zips for your device here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=32777
You will need to flash
4.19.401.11.zip
5.11.401.10.zip
6.09.401.12.zip
7.19.401.22.zip
If you flash them with s-off they will not wipe anything from your device. Once you have the latest firmware you can use any lollipop Rom you choose :good:

Do I flash the firmwares through recovery or through fastboot?
And do I flash them after another or do I have to flash one and start the phone and then flash the next one?

Flash them with fastboot. Put the firmware files in your fastboot folder. And connect fastboot usb in the bootloader.
With s-off flash with these commands.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
The device will boot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode.
Code:
fastboot flash zip name_of_firmware.zip
The first flash is just a pre update. Repeat the same command.
Code:
fastboot flash zip name_of_firmware.zip
The second flash will flash the firmware. The progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% that's normal. When the flash is complete
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Done.
You don't need to reboot to Android just repeat the procedure again for the next zip strait from the bootloader.
The firmware updates will include the stock recovery. So you will need to flash TWRP or CWM when your done.
If you decide to update wile s-on the procedure is the same. But you will need to 're-lock your bootloader before you start.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Be aware though when you unlock the bootloader it will wipe your devices internal storage.

When I flash/update the Firmware, does it change my current ROM in a way, that I need to reflash it?

Very good question I'm glad you asked. I missed this in my last post. The firmware will also replace the stock boot.img. only a problem if your running a custom Rom. In which case you don't need to reflash the entire Rom. You can extract the boot.img from the rom zip and flash it with fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Did you manage to s-off? With s-off you can also flash custom firmware. So you could just delete the boot.img and recovery.img from each of the firmware.zips then you can just flash the firmware without complications. :good:

Will this work with Hboot 1.57, I tried with insertcoin 5.0.2 and ARHD 4.4.2? Can I downgrade Hboot with S-ON by flashing older RUU signed by HTC or 3rd pary authority?

Sorry confused you with a different user. Previous reply deleted.
No rumrunner will not work on hboot 1.57. Only sunshine app works to s-off hboot 1.57. If you mean will the rom work then yes it should but it's based on a much older firmware. Downgrading firmware is not possible with s-on. So you can either upgrade your firmware and use ARHD 92 which is a lollipop rom. Or keep your existing firmware and flash ARHD 84 which is a kitkat rom
Because your s-on upgrading firmware will require you to lock the bootloader. Be advised that unlocking again will wipe your devices internal memory. So backup everything you want to keep to your pc before you start. If you want to upgrade to lollipop there are plenty of RUUs for lollipop there should be one you can use depending on your current OS version. Upgrading via ruu will also require you to relock the bootloader.
