Hello,
I've changed the ROM on my HTC One and I want to go back to stock ROM.
Current device status:
- ROOTED
- S-OFF

- CyanogenMod ROM
I'm not bothered about returning to 100% stock I just want the stock ROM back. My handset was locked to VODAFONE UK (CID VODAP001)

your phone is s-off which mean you can use every RUU out there. JUst change your CID/MID if required before running the ruu. If you dont want to use a ruu, you can flash a stock guru reset rom or stock odexed rom that match your firmware version.

So all I do is change the CID back and then use RUU or reflash? How do I know what firmware I'm using?

Can I use this to go back stock after changing my CID back...

A couple of questions, first:
Why (it helps to know what your ultimate goal is)
Do you need to go back to Vodafone or are you OK with unbranded
Do you intend on going S-ON

Thank you so much for getting back to me!
1. Because I've installed loads of ROMS and not one I like or they intend to freeze etc
2. I'm more then happy to go back unbranded as long as I can still get OTA updates
3. Nope

hmm, I haven't had problems with most ROMs I've tried, but to each his own
change CID to international WWE unbranded:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 <- two underscores (CID is exactly 8 chars)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem readcid
^^ confirm it now says HTC__001
then you run RUU:
http://androidruu.com/getdownload.p...10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe
let me know if you have problems with that ruu, in which case you'd need to first downgrade your firmware.
I have a decrypted 1.28 version, that would flash pretty easily, but then you'd have to take a lot more OTA's... if that doesn't bother you let me know and i'll link instructions to it.
Anyway, i'll decrypt the 4.19 version and upload, but that's gonna take more than a few hours to upload.
PS: the RUU, will obviously wipe EVERYTHING off your phone, so backup to PC first, and yes, OTAs will be fine even with unlocked bootloader

[Q] Problem with HTC One - M7 (401-EU)

Hello,
I'm newbie with HTC phones and android OS.
Last Wednesday (1 May 2013), I bought a HTC One (M7).
I updated my phone to 1.29.401.13 at work
Cause I needed to to install ProxyDroid and this app needs root access, I decided too root my new phone, I followed this instruction at home:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182792
When I went to work on Saturday, I couldn't connect to wifi. Nothing has been changed in our company network.
After searching I found some topics in deterrent websites and forums, they suggested to unroot and install stock ROM.
I downloaded and tried to install stock ROMs from http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=M7
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4.exe
and another file from another forum:
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13.3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe
when I run the files and it staring, after a while I get this :
Error[140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
How can I go back to my first day phone ?
Regards

you can't run any RUU casue you have the highest version-main at the moment... you can't flash RUUs that are previously released than the 1.29 software, you can anctually run newer RUUs...at the moment the only possibility for you to get back to stock is to flash a nandroid backup that matches your cid

Simply flash a stock RUU which matches the CID or just use fastboot oem writecid 11111111 to be able to flash any RUU.

Try this.
1. Run the RUU and click next but no further
2. Go to your user folder ie C:\Users\Nameofuser\AppData\Local\Temp
3. Search for rom.zip and then copy it to another location on your PC
4. Stop the RUU
5. Reboot your phone into the bootloader
6. Go into fastboot
7. fastboot oem rebootRUU
8. fastboot flash zip rom.zip (will fail the first time)

Try just flashing the stock rom from this thread using CWM or TWRP and then flash the stock recovery back after.

OK I understand
wish it could be shared though
Anyway, yes with s-off you can run a downgrade RUU, it will fully restore your phone to previous condition, you will keep S-Off, it won't change (a good thing)
I saw you are already LOCKED (not relocked) and have you removed TAMPERED? If LOCKED, no TAMPERED, go ahead and run the RUU. should you receive an error 155 (I think) while running the RUU, then you may need to downgrade hboot.
Go ahead an run it, and let me know if all good

Sorry, didn't explain, sometimes (usually hboot 1.55) when running a RUU it gives an error 155 (on the PC), that would need to first flash an older hboot to get the RUU to work.
So everything good now

As for root, as far as I know, it won't affect OTAs, and you can also keep bootloader unlocked, doesnt affect OTAs. But definitely keep S-Off in case you wanna change something later on.

I'm on ARHD 31.6 which is Android 4.3.

To update my One (that is S-OFF), I relocked the bootloader and loaded that RUU which put it on 4.3, then let it do the OTAs that brought it first to 4.4.2/Sense 5.5, then the OTA to 4.4.2/Sense 6.0. Then I re-unlocked and rooted it. I run the stock T-Mobile ROM that is rooted and using the ElementalX 14.2 kernel.

can you copy/paste command prompt/terminal output of the commands you ran.
PS: did you check MD5 of the download?

I've never gotten an RUU to work while the bootloader is unlocked, on any HTC phone I've had. Relocking the bootloader the RUU works as designed. Also, the OTA updates from T-Mobile will not install with an unlocked bootloader.

you flash them with fastboot

fastboot flash zip rom.zip << yes two times
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Just make sure you name the RUU rom.zip not rom.zip.zip and it's in the same folder as fastboot
Don't lock your bootloader and Don't go s=on
just flash the PN07IMG_M7_WL_JB_50_VZW_2.10.605.1_DECRYPT.zip
and take all the OTA updates you want .. then flash custom recovery and re- root your phone if you want.
