Hello, i bricked my lg optimus 2x by somehow, and i've read some on the forums and it keeps popping up that NVflash is the way to go. But the problem is nothing happens when i do it No reboot etc... It do react and say: S/W upgrade...
Also when i try to boot phone nothing happens, it is all black and no reponse... So what should i do ? I got no NAndroid backup etc
I haven't tried nvFlash, but Smartflash sure worked for me. (Verified it 10 hours ago as I just soft-bricked my O2X as well. )

Try to install the LG drivers again and hopefully that helps finding COM-port

All of u is wrong. You have to use the method when you're holding vol up and vol down together. If u wait 'til I come home I can give you a link how its done.

The vol up + down method is used for NVflashing.
I used Smartflash so I didn't need to do that.
@random: Aside for checking for LG USB drivers, make sure that you have the battery pulled out, and you are plugging the phone to the PC with the volume down pressed.
smartflash
but it doesnt react to the volume down : P since what i've understand is that it should pop up a the LG bootup thingy
And it doesnt.... The only thing the phone reacts to is when i try to NVflash... but the nvflash seems to fail all the time by some reason :S in the middle of everything
take out your battery, plugin usb + hold volume down.
then smartflash all the way !
Wonder
i wonder how i smartflash then....
/watch?v=uCHRwKGTZTk] i followed that one, but he's phone react with a LG logo when he puts cable in and press vol down... Mine doesn't : (
Try using the USB ports at the back of your CPU (those that are from the MoBo itself). Are you using WinXP by the way?
Tried...
Yes, i have tried the other usb ports at the back and no im not on xp... Im on Vista
64bit.... It feels like i've tried everything that is possible.... So i wonder if there is any hope at all... Or could i turn it back and hopefully get it fixed ? Or will they be able to see what happend etc...

Since you got to the S/W upgrade screen on NVflash, your phone can't be totally dead. Try another PC or redownload the flash file, it could be corrupted.

Dont worry, you probably DIDNT brick it
Search for smartflash and NVflash, smartflash should probably do the trick in this case, but in a few cases u need to use NVflash.
But try smartflash first.
Bought this Galaxy S yesterday
I cant get it to connect to my pc
i have done the following.
-installed and reinstalled Kies several times
-Installed and reinstalled drivers several times
-Tried 4 different usb cables
-Tried in USB debugging mode
My phone connects to the pc and then i get a message that my phone is not recognized (windows error 43)
The phone does charge . I have tried all of the options like Samsung Kies , Mass storage , Media player
Nothing seems to work when i select media player option the mpt application starts to crash , i have read on forums that if the mtp crashes i can just select mass storage mode but when i select mass storage mode my pc says device not recognized
When i checked the Build info it says on Kernel Version 2.6.29 [email protected] #4
Firmware version is 2.1-update-1
Build number is Eclair.XWJM2
Please help me with this , i thought maybe there if i flash everything but in order to flash it i need to connect it to my pc which is becoming impossible

My computer detects the phone but says there is something wrong with the device

Are you absolutely sure that the guy sold it coz he WANTED to, & not coz he HAD to??
It's quite probable that he damaged it & then since can't fix it, so sold it away!
Anyway, Try factory reset!
If that doesn't work,
Use the Volume DOWN+Home+Power button combo to get into DOWNLOAD MODE, THEN see if the PC detects a device connected. With all those drivers, it should.
If it does, then you can go ahead & flash it using Odin, or EZOdin

Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy S is not starting up. I press the power and nothing happens. The device was rooted and in fully working order. Then I turned it off one time and it suddenly wouldn't boot up. I've tried taking the SD card out. Removing the battery and putting it back in. I've tried to get into Download Mode and Recovery which I could do fine before but now it won't work. Building a jig is your best bet. Basically, connecting a certain amount of resistance across certain pins in your USB header should force the phone into Download mode...guide on it here

HELP HELP HELP -- I recently plugged my phone into my com to transfer music. samsung kies then started up and told me i needed a firmware upgrade. I proceeded to upgrade and mid upgrade i received an on screen message that my device wasn't recognised and the upgrade was auto cancelled. I now have a message with bright yellow/green trianle that says "do not turn off target". I have reinstalled kies - no luck. knocked phone on and off -no luck. i'm at a loss with what to do with the phone now !! phone not even being recognised by com or kies. Can anyone help please??? many many thanks in advance... thanks. ian.
Seems that you're new to that, so let me explain: if you see the yellow triangle with the android, you're in download mode. Normally, you access it by pressing power+home+vol down buttons while screen is off. As long as you can access download mode, your device isn't bricked. Now that you can't access anything else than download mode, you have to flash a new firmware with Odin. I recommend you to search for the JW4 firmware here in general section. There you should find help on how to flash it(best is Faryaab's thread).
maybe you can try and do a hard reset and flash a ROM from yr SD card..reboot in recoverymode..if the phone does not reboot..try and run the rooting program, might work. But most likely you'll have to reinstall the firmware...

I don't really think that he rooted his phone ever before, so I don't think that he needs root now... but if he wants to try it out, CF-root or DoOMlords rooting kit are the right choises.
Long story short...after bootlooping my phone trying to flash it, I was able to get it into download mode after A LOT of trying button/time/etc...combos. Used Odin one click, reset phone, it booted up and all looked well. Powered down phone, tried to power back on and I get the "connecting" screen. I've literally looked these (and other) forums up and down for HOURS AND HOURS.
Tried all the possible 3 button combos I've read about...no dice, continues to go into "connecting", so after MANY attempts, I broke down and made a home made jig. Didn't work either. Thought I may have did it wrong, so I ordered one...nope, still no luck. Thought maybe it was bad...ordered a 2nd one from different person...and wham...NOTHING. Returning it or anything is completely out of the question, (another long story), so I'm stuck with a phone that doesn't work and am out of options.
Is there ANY known ways to fix this considering all I've tried? Ready to explode from trying so long lol.

What rom were you trying to flash? If it was an ics build you might need the nexus USB drivers for odin to recognize your device. Also to use hemdall you have to use a different USB port than what you normally use for Odin. Both Odin and hemdall kinda claim that port once its used by that particular program..

Bit of an update...
Left phone sitting overnight with USB connected to it and computer with the phone/computer screen showing. Stuck jig in, did a weird combo with another jig (2 jigs combined with both on 4/5 and 1 resistor)...did nothing. Plugged back into computer and for the FIRST time, I got a message from windows saying that it didn't recognize the device...IE...it finally atleast recognized the phone. Tried opening Odin and Hemdal just to see if they would pick it up...neither did. So after trying to install the drivers again (did sucessfully, but didn't recognize phone), I unplugged phone and repeated the entire process down to the letter...and nothing again. 2nd time, computer didn't recognize phone being plugged in.
Thought maybe this would give some more info...sooooooo wanting to get this fixed.
