[Q] Emergency Help KFHD

I had ruined my KFHD ROM so it boots with two options :
1. Reboot your Kindle .
2. Reset to Factory Defaults .
in both cases it was same result reboot with same previous options .
Can i flash new ROM from my computer ?
(adb couldn't find the device)

Don't worry you shouldn't need a factory cable. There is another way to enable fastboot.
Power off your device and unhook from the computer.
Unzip the tool and run SR Tool
Choose option 1 or 2
It should say [waiting for device], at this point plug in the device. It should automatically start to boot (if not hit the power button) then go to a screen that says Fastboot Kindle Fire and the tool should start sending the image. This is going to reflash the system image. Be patient it can take awhile to finish. More than likely it is what is causing the problem depending on what you did to cause it. If some applications you downloaded are causing problems I would recommend erasing cache and userdata after the script completes.
To get out of fastboot hold down the power button for 10-20 seconds
Let me know if this works as I have not tried to enable fastboot this way on the HD7. Should work though, it does on the HD8.9 and the original.

Thank you very much . i followed you and yes it's automatically start to boot but it's went to the previous screen not to (Fastboot Kindle Fire) screen

Did it go straight to that screen or did the Kindle Fire logo appear first? Like it was trying to boot but then went to that screen. Did you try selecting an option? Did the command prompt change? sorry for all the questions just trying to get a feel for what exactly is happening?

The Kindle logo appears first the device tried to boot then went to the dammin screen .
Yes i tried the options 1 and 2 nothing happened .
The command prompt is just waiting the device couldn't find it .
i think that i need a driver that makes the pc recognize the device on the booting
i saw a way to make a factory cable is it true ?

Yeah I just had someone also test that method and it does not work on the 7" hd models, sucks!
To answer your question about factory cable,
Yes it is, and its really easy if you have a soldering iron(don't really need it but helps) and are handy. Basically a usb cable has five leads but only uses four of them. You have to make a jumper with a 1k resistor(thats what is recommended) from that fifth lead to the power(red) lead. Pretty easy.

First of all not to be an ass but why would you do this? First the kindle fire utility is for the first gen KF. Second how could you not have seen all the news and articles talking about the bootloader on these devices being locked down. It's probably one of the most talked about aspects about this device right now. What has happened is by trying to load fire fire fire, which is a custom bootloader for first gen, you have flashed over the original bootloader and hopefully not but possibly bricked your device permanently. If you can manage to get it back into fastboot I can send you a backup of the bootloader partition you can reflash. PM me and i'll walk you through it.

I Think I Hard-Bricked my Kindle Fire HD 7"

Help! I successfully rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7" following your tutorial "[ROOT][HOW TO] Root the Kindle Fire HD and 2 with Windows - Noob (Simple) Version", and then installed Google Plays etc. following "[ROOT][HOW TO] Install Google Play Store Noob (Simple) Version". I then got to the "[How to] Install Go Launcher EX and HD Noob (Simple) Version" tutorial, and everything went down hill from here.
After following the instructions of tutorial 3, and error message popped on my screen saying that "October has Stopped" and my device froze. I held down the power button, but my device wouldn't boot up - instead it went to a screen with a "Red Warning Triangle". I tried everything from this screen to reboot/reboot my device, all to no avail. Eventually the battery died.
I was able to my Kindle Charged again using the wall charger. However, when plugging into my computer via USB, it doesn't appear on my list of devices. Thus, tools such as KF First Aide are of no help; they cant't communicate with my device, and get stuck on the "<waiting for device>" message.
Any advice?

Yes you can fix it,In Fact, You need to have done a lot worse than that to completely fry your kindle, Don't worry, But you will need a factory cable now, Do you have one?
If you don't you can either
A) Order one from SkOrPn
B)Make one yourself, It's easy if you know how to solder
Once you acquire i'll tell you how to completely restore your kindle!

The simplest tool that can restore your kindle would be
KFHD System.img Restore Tool KFHD SRT
All you need to do is download this tool
KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3
This is a large download, System images are ~600Mb

Open SR Tool.bat
choose option 1
Or option 2 if you would like to have Go launcher or Apex launcher installed along with it, And google play store!
The tool will send the system image to your kindle, This will take about 7 minutes
Next, you should choose option 3 to wipe cache and userdata, This is recommended but not required, You will lose any files you transferred to your kindle, You don't need to do this if you want to keep your files!

I wanted to update everyone on my situation. I followed the threads advice - and it worked!
Specifically:
1. I ordered a factory cable from SkOrPn - got it in 3 days after placing order (shibby!).
2. I charged my device by plugging it into wall charger.
3. I installed the Kindle Fire ADB drivers on my compter - directions and links can be found on the thread [ROOT][HOW TO] Root the Kindle Fire HD and 2 with Windows - Noob (Simple) Version
4. I installed the toolbox KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3 - from the thread KFHD System.img Restore Tool KFHD SRT
5. I plugged my device into PC USB port using the factory cable - it immediately went into fastboot.
6. I used KFHD_SRT_v1.2.3- 7.2.3 from my pc (SR Tool.bat), followed the instructions, and presto.

How long did it take your kindle to charge? When I plug mine in the wall charger it only turns on for like 5 seconds and that's about it? Also did you use the factory cable to charge or the usb cable that came with the Kindle?

I then tried to use Fire Flash app to load Hashcode's freedom boot image and TWRP recovery image.. clicked the flash button, it rebooted to a red screen.
I made myself a fastboot cable, when I plug it in, I see the Fastboot logo on the kindle, but my PC never detects the device.
Not sure where to go from here.
I've downloaded and tried KF2_SRT tool and no go. Also downloaded and tried KFFirstAide .. same deal.

remove factory cable after it is in fastboot mode then plug normal usb cable in it then into pc.

My Kindle Fire is basically like this one mentioned above and I'm in fastboot with the factory cable, but i'm stuck with , <waiting for device> on the tool. It seems as though my drivers can't be installed. Any fix to this.

So i got a factory cable and I am in flashboot. I got KFHD recovery tool 1.3.5 and when i click option 1, it says <waiting for device>.
I think this is due to the fact that my drivers are not installed correctly, so i tried to reinstall drivers but it just doesnt seem to be working. My thoughts are, If i can just get my computer to recognize the device we might be ok. but i cant seem to make it do that.

You're bootlooping and need to use Kindle Fire First Aide to get your KFHD back to normal. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
I used KFFA to get back to 7.2.3 bootloader and used Hashcode's 7.2.3 bootimg and the 2.6.1 TWRP file he lists. This worked great using Fire flash.

KFHD7 turns off after 5 seconds
So I've basically followed all steps here and in numerous other threads, but one problem still persists: the Kindle Fire HD 7 turns off after 5 seconds. If I press the power button, nothing happens. If I plug it into a charger, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo on the screen then turn off after 5 seconds. If I plug it into a USB port, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo on the screen then turn off after 5 seconds. If I plug in the factory cable, it'll turn on and display the "Kindle Fire" logo, then display the "Fastboot Kindle Fire" logo then turn off after 5 seconds. I've left the unit on the charger for hours on end, then attempt to turn it on using the power button or plugging in a normal or factory USB cable and it'll do the same thing, turn off after 5 seconds.

OK you may have a 50/50 shot if its doing this because of a bad boot loader, but it could make things worse and end up in a hard brick if it shuts off mid flash, but if it happened to be something wrong with the battery then you would risk this for nothing, but I'm more inclined to think its the bootloader since it doesn't warn u of a low battery. If the fastboot device needs its drivers still, try installing the ones in my signature in that small time frame. If u can manage that, get a copy of the boot loader for your device and check the md5sum of the file( very important) and make sure it matches. Once you have that setup, you need to flash the boot loader onto the device, so I would suggest putting the boot loader in the same folder as fastboot.exe and running "fastboot -i 0x1949 flash bootloader bootloaderfile.bin" and let it say waiting for device, then plug you fastboot cable in and see if it will successfully flash within 5 seconds. If things go south it will hard brick though from an incomplete flash so just warning you ahead of time its up to you.

Bricked Kindle Fire HD

I screwed up installing CM10.1 forgot to put rom onto device and ended up in boot loop.
I got a fastboot cable but the kindle shows as Tate PVT and the update driver box is greyed out. Cant get fastboot or adb to recognise the device.
Is there anyway to recover from this

i might be in the same boat...my kindle fire logo turns blue and gives me a msg at the bottom to press power button for boot menu
when i do i get normal boot,recover,and reset boot mode...when i click on one it just says booting and power button stays organish red for ever

Maybe you don't have your drivers properly installed

If you have twrp installed and the blue kindle boot screen just hit volume down and use the side load feature. But if your fastboot is giving u a problem where u can't hit update driver I would assume it would be because windows is already searching for one still? If so tell windows to skip obtaining from windows update and it finish sooner so u can try to update it manually.

Hi Baconrind. Screwing one’s device is a good opportunity to learn new things. At least this is what happened to me and I’m glad I did. A couple of months ago I bought a new KFHD7. I spend "wonderful :laugh:" weeks as the happy owner of a KFHD7 until I started to discover the shortcomings of same, so I started reading xda-developers’ stuff to try to customise the device. First I rooted it to be able to install Google Play Store. The idea was to stay as close to stock as possible. Unfortunately I lost root with the first Amazon OTA update, then I decided to install a second bootloader, TWRP, etc. To do that I followed Hashcode’s method Kindle Fire 2nd-bootloader + TWRP for the Kindle Fire HD 7 but at some point I bricked :crying: my device. I was stuck at the Kindle Fire logo. I spent hours browsing through xda-developers and discovered that the first thing to do was to get a fastboot cable. I did not have the patience to wait for it to come from China or wherever they make them, so I found a couple of posts on the xda forum here and here. I made my own even my soldering capabilities are quite limited. I shut down the KFHD7 and plugged the “fastboot” cable to the PC and then to the Kindle, a couple of seconds later I could see the fastboot logo. Once I saw the fastboot logo I unplugged it and used the regular data transfer cable instead. Before I started the unbricking process proper I downloaded and installed this tool: KFHD_SRT_v1.3.5.-7.3. I followed the onscreen indications and could reset my KFHD7 back to its original state. [Q] Stuck on Kindle Fire Bootloop

This is my 1st time asking for help since I really have never needed it. I got a kindle fire HD 7" and rooted it. I added TWRP and a 2nd bootloader. For a long time I was stuck in TWRP and every time I tried to reboot it would just go back to TWRP. This morning I tried using the Kindle fire utility and selected option one. It seemed like it worked. I then rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle Fire boot screen. It shows Kindle fire on the screen, goes black for a few seconds, then back to the kindle fire, then goes black again. It keeps doing this over and over again. I am not able to get back into TWRP now. I am not sure what to do at this point. I have read just about every thread out there and cannot find a similar situation to mine. Any guidence would be appreciated.

OK mistake number one, do not use kindle fire utility on a kfhd, you could easily hard brick the kindle. That was designed for first gen it's and they work a bit differently than yours. OK now that I got that out of the way, does your kindle still have the logo turn blue?

Thanks for the quick reponse. When I installed the 2nd bootloader and TWRP I got into the bootloop. At that time when it would bootloop it would go from orange to blue twice before going back to TWRP again. After I made the mistake of using the Kindle FIre utility it now just keeps on the kindle fire start-up screen and it is always orange.

You are either going to need a fastboot cable to fix or have some luck getting a command to work... If you open the device manager, and plug your kindle in while its off, does a Tate device show up for a few seconds? If so try updating the drivers on the Tate device to the ones in my signature. From there you should be able to use a fastboot command to get the kindle to boot into fastboot. The command would be "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product", but if your not seeing a Tate device then this command will be useless, and I don't wanna finish explaining how to use this command until I know your PC is detecting it, assuming you don't know how to use the fastboot command by itself from a command prompt since I don't know your skill level with android stuff and windows command prompt stuff.

Thanks again for replying. I would say my experience level is low when it comes to command prompts. I get the basics though. I will check when I get home if I see if a Tate device shows up when I connect with my usb and get back to you. Even when I was in TWRP I was having difficulty seeing my device on the computer to add a custom rom to the sd card. I tried sideloading and tried mounting the sd card but nothing worked. I wish now I would have just left it in TWRP and did some more research. Live and learn I guess. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again.

Ok. I turned off the Kindle and then attached the USB to the computer. Nothing is being recognized. I see now too that my adb interface is also gone. It appears the computer is no longer picking up anything. When I attach the Kindle to the computer it starts the bootloop again flashing the kindle fire screen over and over again. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again.

I think your only hope is a fast boot cable, and honestly or just depends how broke it is whether it works or not

Ok. I wanted to clarify what I did to get in the situation that I am in. I rooted my device with no issues. I then decided to install a 2nd bootloader and TWRP. After all was done my Kindle Fire HD 7" booted to TWRP. I could not get my computer to show my device so I was stuck. Every time I would reboot it would flash kindle fire in orange, then in Blue, then in Orange, the in Blue then would go back to TWRP. I then put the device with the USB attached to my computer and from TWRP I put the device into fastboot mode. I then used the KFHD SRT v1.3.5 tool and opened the SR.Tool.bat and chose option 1. After it was done I rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen (in orange) and it will show for a few seconds, turn off, then go back to the kindle fire screen again (in orange) and just keep repeating. I ordered a factory cable to try to get back to fastboot mode but since it did not work for me the 1st time I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it is a factory/fastboot cable? I would either get them from skorn or proxenusa since I know they are reliable.

Hello again. I don't have the factory cable yet; I just ordered it yesterday. When I used the fastboot mode the last time I entered the mode from TWRP and was connected to my computer with a regular usb charger. When it was in fastboot mode I selected the option 1 from the tool I mentioned in my previous post. I am just wondering if the fastboot did not work with the KFHD tool I used because I did not have a factory cable connected hence why I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen. What do you think?

No, typically it is said to use a fastboot cable just to get the device into fastboot, then plug the normal cable in afterward.

For future reference, when you get your kindle back up and running again, you need to flash a custom ROM to boot. The TWRP boot loop stems from trying to boot into stock ROM, it won't work. So just put a ROM on your kindle before you flash bootloader + twrp next time.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD Stuck In Fastboot Mode HELP !!!

Hi,
I moved into a new house yesterday and when un packing I found an Amazon Kindle Fire HD that was basically left behind I went to plug it in to my phone charger Micro USB and it began too boot up but then stopped at the Fastboot logo with Kindle Fire under it. Ive never had a Kindle Fire before so not really sure what to do tried connecting it to my Laptop but nothing shows up i.e installs etc. I don't know if it would be bricked or a software fault and tried Power and Volume Up and Down to see if there is a recovery system but they isn't.

when i plug my kindle in the pc it does show tate-pvt-08 in device manager and the kindle is stuck in fastboot mode.. any advice?

Right click the device, hit update drivers, download the drivers in my signature, and extract them, point the update device window to where you extracted my drivers and let it install them, if you are on windows 8 you will have to disable driver signature enforcement first. Once the drivers are installed I would suggest trying a simple

tried the driver but now in device manager the kindle has that yellow triangle and fastboot is stuck on waiting for device

Yellow triangle probably means the driver is still not installed...

Hello! First of all, i'm kind of a noob as far as kindle development issues concern, but i managed to install custom roms before (in fact, my brick problema began when i tried to upgrade to CM11 from goo.im). I am really desperate right now because i followed all the instructions in several threads but nothing helped me so far.
Here is my situation:
My kindle fire hd 7" is stuck at Fastboot mode after my failed attempt to upgrade from CM10.1 to CM11. My computer recognizes it as Tate-PVT-08 but it's not accepting any fastboot commands, except for "fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot". When i run this command, my kindle actually "reboots" but goes into fatboot mode again and again. When in "cmd", it doesn't recognize the devices either, but when run command "getvar" shows Tate-PVT-08. In conclusión, i want to know if there is a problema with the instalation of cmd in my PC, or if you can recommend any tool to restore my Tablet, even if it means going back to stock OS.
Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Are you using a fastboot cord? If so that's why. Use that command and then pull the cord from the computer as soon as it restarts.

I changed the cord because i realized that i'm already in fastboot mode, so don't need fastboot cable. When i run the command, the Kindle boot logo lasts for few more senconds than with fastboot cable, but still goes into fastboot mode again. Also tried pushing all posible buttons (At blue kindle ffire logo) to reach recovery mode but failed. I'm using Kindle Fire First Aide but doesn't seems to work either.
Any toughts? Thank you.

If you see the blue TWRP there may be hope without a doing a factory reset. Press the power button for 30 seconds and power down the KFHD7. Now hit power to turn the Kindle on and as soon as you see the yellow Kindle boot animation hold the volume rocker up and continue to hold it there until until you see the blue TWRP boot animation and continue pressing for three seconds, then release. Do you boot into TWRP? If you see the blue TWRP boot animation you should have it.
I'm using Kindle Fire First Aide but doesn't seems to work either.

If you can get into TWRP that might be to your advantage because you can adb.sideload a ROM onto TWRP flash it and go on with it from there. KFFA has been down off and on. It was once a great tool but it needs updated and the Drop Box account associated with it is down at the momnent.

Mr LinearEquation, thank you so much for your advice.
Following a different thread i managed to boot into TWRP by flashing images of "Freedom Boot" and TWRP itself via fastboot commands. Now in theory i can flash a .zip of any ROM but the thing is that i cannot load zips to the Tablet. even though it's recognized now as KINDLE instead of Tate-PVT-08 in the Device Manager, i'm not able to see the kindle as a Pop-up window where you can drag-and-drop files to the Tablet.
The question is: How do i push a ROM via adb as you mentioned in your previous message? Do you know which file do i need and the proper command to push it?

Help! Mine was stuck in fastboot. When I hit the power button it boots up automatically in fastboot with any device attached to it. Then after a few sec it goes off.

Have you looked at this page? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2271909 Maybe the unbricked section (part 6 of first page) can help in particular the SRT tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 . I have also noticed if you scroll down to troubleshooting section on the first page of first link it lists your problem and the steps to resolve it

Thank you for the reply. Well, my first problem is the kindle doesn't stay on fastboot. It shuts down after a second.

recovery
Hi I locked mine up also and used a program called
Demo Mode Restore. Basically you shut off your kindle and unplug the charge/data cable run the program and click enter once then says plug you kindle in and when it boots the program catches it before it starts up and all you have to do is follow the directions and when it restarts its like when you first took it out of the box
You`ll have to do a search for Demo Mode Restore

I moved into a new house yesterday and when un packing I found an Amazon Kindle Fire HD that was basically left behind I went to plug it in to my phone charger Micro USB and it began too boot up but then stopped at the Fastboot logo with Kindle Fire under it. Ive never had a Kindle Fire before so not really sure what to do tried connecting it to my Laptop but nothing shows up i.e installs etc. I don't know if it would be bricked or a software fault and tried Power and Volume Up and Down to see if there is a recovery system but they isn't.
I hope one of you guys can help
