Hi Guys,
So basically I have a P1000 in my hands. I was asked if I could upgrade it to gingerbread since it was running a slow froyo ROM from a Portuguese provider.
The thing is, since the beginning that I don't have access to ODIN. I can go into download mode but the tablet is not recognized in both windows ( USB Not Recognized - Unknown Device ) and linux ( device descriptor read/64, error -110 ).
Since I wasn't able to get in ODIN I used MobileODIN. I was able to flash gingerbread and I was able to boot but something went wrong because on boot and recovery I had colored lines. This was probably a bootloader issue since MobileOdin doesn't flash it.
After it I made the biggest error, I flashed thru MobileOdin the Overcome Kernel. The flash it self went fine and it was booting after but the big problem for me was that it changed RFS to EXT4, changing the partitions it self leaving me locked to that ROM since MobileOdin doesn't partition.
I didn't realized the impact of the kernel at the time and I basically killed the TAB when I tried to go back to froyo using again MobileOdin. It flashed the kernel but then it wasn't able to boot into recovery and the Tab was freezed in "Galaxy Tab" screen.
The thing is, I JUST NEED DOWNLOAD MODE!!! I'm able to get into it but I can't get a way to get recognized by the PC.
The cable it self is working since it worked with ADB,etc in the ROM.
I tried many drivers, with and without kies, and 5 different PCs (Win7x64,x32, XPx32) and no luck.
Was able to try other cable to but I have the same issue.
Basically I think I'm screwed! I don't think any of the bricked guides apply to me since I can go into Download Mode! I just need to get it detected by some OS.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Use linux with heimdall.
Your descriptor issue is probably irrelevant, maybe linux trying to mount the SD card.

Hi!
I already tried heimdall, but the device doesn't show in lsusb.
When using heimdall command line it just says that it doesn't find any device in Download Mode :\
Next thing I was thinking was to take out the battery because I'm really out of options really :|
Not sure if this matters, but I always have this in my machine. (Ubuntu)
create a file /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
within, add these lines
#Samsung
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="04e8", MODE="0666"
save the file, then do a /etc/init.d/udev restart
that should make the device hot pluggable, detected, in ubuntu.

You have to install the drivers on windows 8 according to:
1- right click on the setup.exe then select
2- troubleshoot compatibility.
3- run through the wizard selecting that your application was running fine on earlier version of windows ...
Good luck

Thanks for the help but are those x64? Was trying to run in XP x32 but it says is not a valid win32 app. I saw they are 1.3.450.0, are they changed? I think I already tried that version without luck :|
Regards.
These drivers I was using on windows 7 without any issues... But after I used windows 8 I couldn't install them...
It is supposed that they are not changed and am using them for the last two years... I tried Odin 3.07 and it also work great for the tab..

OK, I'm trying to flash from CM7. I've installed the Android SDK with Nexus S usb drivers. I can get into download mode, that's not the issue. The issue is that the computer will recognize a mass storage device and an Android Composite ADB interface (my phone) however, it will also say UNRECOGNIZED device. I've read thread after thread on here and have followed all the different suggestions and I've tried all different USB ports on my computer. The only thing I haven't tried is a different cable. ODIN will not recognize my phone no matter if it's 1click or not. I even tried installing ubuntu on my computer and when I chose to boot that instead of windows, it gave me all sorts of errors and wouldn't go any farther. suppose I need a dedicated linux machine. anyway. I'm at my wits end trying to get rid of CM7. can it really be this damn difficult to flash over it?? I really don't know what else to do besides a different cable, but I don't really see how that would be the problem, considering when I have no drivers installed, windows recognizes my phone as a captivate and wants to install the captivate drivers......even though I've already installed them?? my phone ends up showing up as the Android Composite ADB Interface, which I mentioned earlier. Can someone please for the love of God freakin' help me get this off my phone? I am still have very horrible battery life and it is too buggy still for me to use it everyday. I would appreciate any response I get. YES, I know I've posted with this problem before, that thread went no where and actually got deleted. but OK.
Try using a different computer, preferably with a different OS(win 7 instead of XP, etc).
What kind of error when installing Ubuntu? Only error I had using wubi installer was windows-no disc (just keep clicking continue until the install wizard pops up)
After installing ubuntu it wanted to reboot. So I did. I chose to boot into ubuntu it flashed some errors real quick with no time to read then rebooted. Did this several times. Don't know what the problem is. I will have to search for access to a win 7 machine. Seriously though I'm ready to smash my phone. This should not be this hard.

My phone connects to the pc and then i get a message that my phone is not recognized (windows error 43)
The phone does charge . I have tried all of the options like Samsung Kies , Mass storage , Media player
Nothing seems to work when i select media player option the mpt application starts to crash , i have read on forums that if the mtp crashes i can just select mass storage mode but when i select mass storage mode my pc says device not recognized
When i checked the Build info it says on Kernel Version 2.6.29 [email protected] #4
Firmware version is 2.1-update-1
Build number is Eclair.XWJM2
Please help me with this , i thought maybe there if i flash everything but in order to flash it i need to connect it to my pc which is becoming impossible

Are you absolutely sure that the guy sold it coz he WANTED to, & not coz he HAD to??
It's quite probable that he damaged it & then since can't fix it, so sold it away!
Anyway, Try factory reset!
If that doesn't work,
Use the Volume DOWN+Home+Power button combo to get into DOWNLOAD MODE, THEN see if the PC detects a device connected. With all those drivers, it should.
If it does, then you can go ahead & flash it using Odin, or EZOdin

Long story short...after bootlooping my phone trying to flash it, I was able to get it into download mode after A LOT of trying button/time/etc...combos. Used Odin one click, reset phone, it booted up and all looked well. Powered down phone, tried to power back on and I get the "connecting" screen. I've literally looked these (and other) forums up and down for HOURS AND HOURS.
Tried all the possible 3 button combos I've read about...no dice, continues to go into "connecting", so after MANY attempts, I broke down and made a home made jig. Didn't work either. Thought I may have did it wrong, so I ordered one...nope, still no luck. Thought maybe it was bad...ordered a 2nd one from different person...and wham...NOTHING. Returning it or anything is completely out of the question, (another long story), so I'm stuck with a phone that doesn't work and am out of options.

What rom were you trying to flash? If it was an ics build you might need the nexus USB drivers for odin to recognize your device. Also to use hemdall you have to use a different USB port than what you normally use for Odin. Both Odin and hemdall kinda claim that port once its used by that particular program..

Bit of an update...
Left phone sitting overnight with USB connected to it and computer with the phone/computer screen showing. Stuck jig in, did a weird combo with another jig (2 jigs combined with both on 4/5 and 1 resistor)...did nothing. Plugged back into computer and for the FIRST time, I got a message from windows saying that it didn't recognize the device...IE...it finally atleast recognized the phone. Tried opening Odin and Hemdal just to see if they would pick it up...neither did. So after trying to install the drivers again (did sucessfully, but didn't recognize phone), I unplugged phone and repeated the entire process down to the letter...and nothing again. 2nd time, computer didn't recognize phone being plugged in.
Thought maybe this would give some more info...sooooooo wanting to get this fixed.

From what I can find about the "Offline" status is that you need to update your Android-Sdk there have been quite a few updates recently.
Also try this for configuring your drivers correctly
(If you are using Windows 8.1 this will most likely not work)
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
That's the thing my old sdk was working fine that's the thing I have the drivers updated ok. It recognized my device but it shows my phone to be offline.

Unplug your phone

Install these drivers
Plug in phone and let it install the drivers(it will install drivers in recovery, bootloader, and booted to your OS)
Then do the steps I posted if you still have problems.

BTW do you happen to be using Windows 8.1?

I had to update the SDK and the computer was able to recognize my HTC One. Not sure if you have encounter this before...
I unlocked my phone, install TWRP 2.500 with Toolkit v3.1. And when I went into the recovery, the touch screen won't work. I did some research and it seems I need to install new version of TWRP. However, I'm not sure how to install it without using the toolkit... and most people talked about GooManager... but my device isn't rooted yet... I was gonna root it using TWRP but the touch screen wouldn't work. So I'm stuck :/
