After I've installed my screen protector (crystal clear protector) sometimes my home/back button become unresponsive and I have to turn off / turn back on the phone for them to start working.
Wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing with the screen protectors on the phone?
Is there anything I can do?
From what I've gathered from reading various posts on this forum, this is an issue related to the firmware on your device.
My understanding is that the sensitivity of the capacitive buttons was too low in firmware versions below 1.29, meaning that any Ones that received the 1.29 OTA should have this issue fixed. Can I ask what carrier/country you're in? I'm in the US on AT&T, and am currently stuck on the 1.26 firmware. I have the exact same issue, and currently am just not using a screen protector until AT&T releases the new firmware (it looks like European and Asian users have largely all gotten this update).
Well I'm on a Canadian rogers one. Which is the same as yours but ever since I rooted and installed trickdroid it seems to be working fine now. Are you on stock Rom ?

Yes, I'm still on stock (I actually find it quite good for my needs).
Try rooting it and installing a custom rom if you want. That fixed my problem for this at least

I'm considering buying a n1 because my g1 just broke and t mobile doesnt offer any good phones except the n1.
I heard the first batch of phones the buttons were sometimes unresponsive are the new phones fixed?
What about the multi touch when crossing the axis was that fixed?
and how bad is the 3g problems that people seem to have is it a big issue or only happening in some phones?
T-Mobile has plenty of alternative smart phone choices, and the Nexus isn't even sold by T-Mobile.
The buttons were called unresponsive because that was before some people used the phone enough to realize that the touch responsive area is just slightly above where the symbol is, others were referring to the glitch that sometimes happens where the screen is unresponsive or touches registered somewhere other than where you tapped the screen.
The multiouch problem comes from a problem that the clearpad2000 has, and exists for all Nexus Ones. This is most likely not going to be fixed in future models.
The 3G issue is more prevalent in some radio versions than others, and more in some areas than others. Some report that the problem can be fixed with an update while for others the problem persists.
I know its not sold by tmobile but it can be used on tmobile which is what i have. And to me I think other companies are getting android phones while t mobile is getting mytouches.
But the only thing having me 2nd guessing is the 3g issue. other than that I heard its a good phone.
Just be prepared to return it if you have any problems. I love my nexus and have no issues, 3g is rock solid and I'm on a fringe area of coverage. But I use ATT. Majority of complaints seem to come from t-mobile versions.

guess its just a game of luck. maybe theyll announce a new phone at i/0
btw nice name lol roger podactor
I'm fustrated with N1's touchscreen, it is sometimes a pain to use. Most of the time it works just fine, on other times, either touch input is not registering or the X/Y coordinates is off! Playing touch intensive games sometimes "hang" the touchscreen. Turning off the screen and back on always fix the problem.
Is it possible to replace the touch screen sensor with from a recent phone of the same screen size? E.g. desire S?
It's impossible, because a different touchscreen requires a different drivers
look into the desire forum i hear the two phones have very simular hardware.or buy the latest model nexus1 touchscreen. my n1 was brought new recently and the only problem i recieve is multi touch with games at times.

i did look into that, HTC Desire uses the same crappy clearpad 2000 touchscreen.
The only solution is a new phone, nothing you can do about it.
Well, if I'm not mistaken, you should be able to buy the new Super LCD in the Nexus One after Google stopped selling them. I'm not sure how to obtain one, but I bet you could easily modify your N1 with the screen of the newer N1. Or hell, just buy the new Nexus One altogether, and you'll be okay. Though I don't know how well it works (Or if it works at all) in the US.
Panel != Digitizer
SLCD and AMOLED both have faulty digitzers so the problems are the same for both.

I've seed third party digitizer parts for nexus one on the net, are these any better? Would love to hear from people who had replaced their digitizer.

I think that doesn't make any difference, both the SLCD and AMOLED screen uses the same clearpad 2000 digitizers
I can confirm that the SLCD doesn't do sh!t to fix the digitizer problem. I have an SLCD model and have to fight frequent urges to destroy the phone against a hard object.
Previously I had an Incredible, but recently switched to the N1 because it was cheap and easy to obtain them fully unlocked and I'll be spending the next couple of years on the road in GSM countries. The Incredible's keyboard was not even comparable to the N1 keyboard -- though with Sense ROMs it had its own share of annoying issues.
Ironically, it seems that the N1 keyboard runs OK if using HTC software for it (search for HTC_IME), particularly when compared to the native keyboard in Gingerbread. On the Incredible side of things, it was the opposite -- ran like butt on Sense ROMs, but very smoothly on AOSP Gingerbread. Go figure.
With the variety of device manufacturers out there using different hardware components, a big part of me wishes that Google recreated Android as a display manager sitting atop a standard Linux install. That way we could just drop into a shell, mess with some driver source code, and watch it fail miserably when we tried to compile it.
Hi, Just got me a shiny new xperia z3c. yay. Other than the fragility of the sandwich glass and possible camera being slightly sub par, my main concern is root. Coming from a htc one with viper installed, and using exposed and xprivacy I'm use to rooting. But with all the info flying about, I'm a little confused, even after searching through and reading posts.
I don't mind the stock sony rom (23.0.A.2.93, no updates to .105 found by updater as yet) on EE uk network, though Id like to remove some bloatware.
My main question is. Can I flash a stock rom and have root? has this been done? or is the bootloader/drm still the main issue. I need xprivacy running asap.
Thx all.
There is a root method posted by Doomlord in the Original Development sub forum but it does require an unlocked bootloader which results in the loss of DRM keys. If you don't mind losing the proprietary post processing algorithms then you can go ahead and unlock then root. Users have done this and installed Xposed plus modules.
Re: software version. I'm on build .105 and am on 3 UK, though I'm not sure if the provider has any influence on software updates. I guess it could do if your phone is locked to EE, I bought mine unlocked and put my 3 sim in.

Thanks for the reply. I may just wait a short while to see if the bootloader issue can be solved. I know it will, just not when. Though after reading through the process, the drm keys are saved, but I'm still a tad bit reluctant yet.
Oh, mine is a contract phone, so I assume it maybe locked to EE, hence no update on the firmware until they release one.
As I said, surprisingly I do like sony's android layer edit, tho some tweaks are required. I was use to a fair bit coming from venom roms, but not bad. I've read some bashing on how old the layout looks.
I've read a lot more about the fragility of the rear and front glass and manufacturers of such glass, has got me worried. I will need to buy a case, but will ruin the look of the phones nice design. Why cant they make a stronger phone..grrrr Waste of R&D time when you put a case on a phone.
Yes I'd be patient. Lots of users are asking when this will be available but we have to give the devs time to get their hands on the device and then to cook up the good stuff, be they other root exploits or custom ROMs. I prefer the AOSP look personally but Sony's skin isn't that bad and has good bits like the power saving modes and FM radio support.
I also share your concern over the device's hardiness, especially over how easy it is to scratch the back glass. At present I'm using a slim terrapin case: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...200_QL40&qid=1413234393&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1 with the matte front screen protector provided in the retail box. I'll use these until some 9H front and back glass protector sets come out as that's what I liked on my z1c.

Hello all, ive been following this site since i had a HTC Wing, the people at XDA are great. Ive been using the GFlex for awhile now and i digg it, the screen size to the battery life and even the curve just makes for a beasty phone. However it doesnt play nice with updates or at least my G Flex doesnt. Ive upgraded and downgraded this phone multiple times and it appears it works best on 4.2.2, reason I say is i dont get loss signal , when i go to 4.4.2 the signal randomly goes out and come back. It makes me mad, now ive upgraded to 4.4.2 the d95920t version and cant root nor downgrade. What I would like to know is why I dont get those signal drop on 4.2 but crazy drops on 4.4? LG really played us flex owners for that and the fact they not really doing any major updates or given devs real support on making this phone a mogul. Anyway i figured id ask that question and is there anybody else experiencing the scenario?
No signal drops for me on 4.4.2 ver 20b

From day one with this device, when I touch the screen to say launch an app from the drawer, I can be too quick or light about it. I've not had this issue with other devices, I am often tapping an option on the screen only to have to retap it for the phone to follow instructions. This doesn't seem to positive correlate with os version or rom or kernel.....so then assuming this isn't an issue specific to my device only....where does the issue lie and is it fixable?

Have not experienced this issue. You might want to get your piece replaced.

If you happen to run stock rom without any kind of screen protectors on top the display and you still have these touch issues, i'm afraid it is a spesific issue with your device.
