Finally upgraded to CM 10.1 but... - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just upgraded to CM 10.1 from CM 9 that I have been running since the beginning. My one issue is that whenever I try to mount my "SD" card (Internal storage obviously) It just tells me that it is now safe to remove it. I have been unable to get it to mount, but it mounts fine in TWRP. Any ideas? I'm gonna reflash and see if the issue was the custom kernal or a botched flash, but other than that I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using the nightlies as well. I ended up getting it fixed, I guess it was an issue with the custom kernel. Talked to the dev, and he updated it. Someone else was having the same issue so he decided to help us both out. I'm all set now

Have you used acmeinstaller3 to increase the partion size and upgraded to the last CMW?
If not that could be why.

Yes I have. And as far as I have read I wouldn't even be able to install CM 10.1 to begin with if I had not, the partition size is not big enough. The issue is taken care of now though, it was some random glitch with the custom kernel I was installing.

I uninstalled CM9 using acmeuninstaller and then installed CM 10.1 using acmeinstaller3 / cm-10.1-20130617-UNOFFICIAL-tenderloin, so far i didn't notice this issue.

What version of CWM did you use to flash 7.0.3, cuz I heard some people had issues flashing nightlys with older versions of CWM. I currently have a 3.0.0.5, I think, bootable CWM SD card and am wondering if I should update it before trying to flash 7.0.3
On a side note I have always kept CWM on an SD card versus on the emmc. Is it better to keep it that way or should I flash CWM to my emmc?
Thanks for any info.

You shoul update your recovery. If you don't have problems yet, you will!!! I was on CWM 3.0.1 and could not flash any of the recent nightlies. Current version of CWM is 3.0.2.8
Thought so. Will update my CWM SD card to the latest before I move to 7.0.3.
Thanks
If I am just updating to a newer version of the same software my apps and what not will remain correct?

Sorry I missed part of your question. Here is my preference.....
I flash clockwork recovery to my EMMC, because it makes switching ROM'S much easier. I also keep and emergency 2GB SD card imaged with CWM and a stable version of CM7, gapps, & OC kernel......for those occasional emergency oh $hit situations.
Cool thanks for the suggestion. I haven't had any of those moments yet but its best to be prepared.
I think i didn't make my question clear. When i asked if my apps and what not will remain, i was talking about when i update my nook not CWM. Will all my apps and data be on my nook still after i update to 7.0.3 from 7.0.2?

If you go from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 and only wipe cache & dalvik your apps will remain, but it's still not a bad idea to use an app like Titanium to back up your apps & data. Sometimes things just plain go wrong when enhancing our devices.

Thanks for all your help I now have my updated cwm SD card, flashed 7.0.3, and flashed the of kernel. Looks like I'm golden for now.
What is the exact process to upgrade from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 on a CM7 SD installation with a stock 1.2 on eMMC?
I was notified of the update on my NC but when I try to install it, it will NEVER get into Recovery on its own. The only way it works is if I remove the SD card upon reboot, it then asks for a SD card, and then it says the file can't be found yet I can see it's right where it should be.
Is there a manual way to update it on my SD card via my computer to where I don't lose any apps and/or settings? Still quite new to this obviously...
Thanks!

Nook color CM7 wifi issues.

Hey all, I'm running CM7 7.1 rc-1... I just installed dalingrin's latest oc kernel... And it killed my wifi.. It's really bugging me. My nc is currently oc'd @ 1200.. With a min speed of 600. Is the kernel killing my wifi? Or is it the overclocking?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
interesting. I had the same experience. My case went a little bit further than that as I lost my whole config after trying to fix it ... long story short, after fixing my nook and re-installing back to stock (1.0.1 then upgrade to 1.3). I tried again, installed same distro on SD but I put all the zip files at the same time on the sd card for install (7.1, gapps and OC); everything got installed and no more wifi problems. I also upgraded to full nightly 212. So far, so good.
I also noticed something: after testing a few apps, I would get a weird behavior. In rom manager, fix permissions would fix most of the issues.

update:
I tried to install the stock firmware by deleting cwm, repartitioning boot to stock (after installing stock 1.1)... now it just loops on the "nook color by bn" screen. any suggestions?
Follow the instructions here and start all over. Choose nightly 200 or higher and make sure you use the latest version of CWR (3.2.0.1): http://mrm3.net/nook-color-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-nightlies/

Can't boot CyanogenMod 9 on Motorola Milestone!

Hey guys, I'm having a problem
Sorry if I'm posting this in a wrong area
Well, I'm using CyanogenMod 7.2.0 stable by Kabaldan for Milestone A853. Then I tried to install CyanogenMod 9 Nightly (from Skrilax build bot), the latest version. Everything was going well, then when I tried to boot, a screen about "Android is updating applications" appeared, and then after updating, the phone hard rebooted, back to the M logo. Then I left it booting again, and it rebooted again, though this time the update screen didn't appeared. Sometimes I get the first screen to appear, but I can't even touch the phone because it reboots before I try to do so. I tried installing CyanogenMod 10 (Skrilax nightly build bot again) and the same error happened! What is happening to my phone? I've never found anyone with this problem
Please help me! Thanks.
Did you perform a full wipe before applying CM9/10?

If by full wipe you mean the three wipe options in OpenRecovery (Dalvik, Data and Cache) then yes. I even deleted the /system folder and nothing!
UPDATE: I tried to install CM10, removed system, data and cache through ADB and dalvik cache, installed CM10 and gapps. When booting, the first screen asking for language rapidly appears, and reboots. I tried to boot again, then I rapidly touched the screen when the screen appeared, and it didn't reboot! Well, that's better, but CM10 is too lagged for daily use, that's why I want to install CM9!
I'm using CM10 from couple of days..
I get enough RAM to run apps that I daily use...check for unwanted apps that are not being used, disable it through hwa setting app. Just use it for a day .. IMO CM10 is better than CM9.
BTW I removed gtalk, maps, email, exchange service and other unwanted apps from OR...which I don't use at all..

If nothing solves your problem, you should reflash the SBFs and start all over again. I had to do this sometimes. Formatting the SDCard (after backing-up your personal data) also helps to prevent this from ocurring.
Well, never mind, I was robbed saturday. Thanks for the help folks

and BPSW for 2.1.1 is needed? or optional?
It's optional.
You only have to wipe data,dalvik-cache and data (you will lose all your information, so backup everything) and to create an ext partition on your sdcard.

yeah I know, I read the dev thread but can't make replies there. I am now on CM10 from 09/24 (last 4.1.1) and considering about CM10 4.2 but I was little bit confused about BPSW. And will there be problem If I will uprgade from 2.2? Because I don't have nandroid backup of 2.1
(FYI, the current CM10 is based on Android 4.1.2.
4.2 will be the next version of Android and probably CM11 will be based on it.)
Anyway, i upgraded from 2.2 to 4.0.4 and then to 4.1.1 and now 4.1.2.
I believe you can upgrade from 2.2 to 4.1.2 without any problem.
(but always make a nandroid before upgrading)
Yes, it's perfectly possible upgrade from 2.2 Stock ROM, although it's more difficult to root it.
I did it without any problems.
Is there any difference between upgrading from 2.1 or from 2.2?

Yeah, sorry for that mistake, my fault. I upgraded from 2.2 to 4.0.4 and now I have 4.1.1. I tried to upgrade to 4.1.2 from 4.1.1 but it was laggy (10/16 and 10/17) so I restore it back to 4.1.1 which is pretty stable and I will wait to better time for this upgrade, because it is my main phone and my boss is upset when I am not available when he calls me

I've read somewhere, that one must upgrade to 2.2 because upgrading from 2.1 will cause problem with some hardware module.

Kabaldan is working on it. It seems, if the CPU's clockspeed is under 600MHz, then something is wrong with the GPU performance. (So you should consider using Performance CPU governor.)

I know that someone wrote it in dev thread for CM9 or CM10, but my battery is pretty weak, I am glad that with Juice defender it lasts for 12 hours and Performance governor is pretty aggressive to battery drain. Anyway thanks for answering my nooby questions

Issues With Touchpad

Hello, I have had a touchpad for some time and but CM9 and CWM on it some time ago, but it started having some issues recently. So I figured I should try and reinstall a newer version of CM and start from scratch.
I went to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026692 and downloaded both the skz+tenderloin-1.10.zip and the gapps zip.
I then placed those into the Download folder on the touchpad.
This is where things took a turn. I rebooted to get into CWM, upon selecting it from the boot menu it kept restarting back to the boot menu. After a few tries it got into CWM. I then wiped the data and did a factory reset, wiped the cache, and then wiped the dalvik like the post said to do. I then went to install zip from sdcard. Found the skz+tenderloin zip and chose to install that. CWM says it starts to install but then before the progress bar fills up at all...it resets back to the bootloader.
At this point I am at a loss with what to do and I would really appreciate any help I can get with this.
UPDATE: I figured starting from scratch would be the best bet, so I have uninstalled CM9 and CWM using ACMEUninstall. Now I am wondering if it is worth using CM10 as my default Android or should I stick with the best CM9.
Either way, if I should use CM9 or 10 can someone either help me or point me in the right direction for the best tutorial on doing this properly?
Restore a backup then DL an updated version of CM9 to flash or upgrade to ACMEInstaller3 to give you a larger system partition along with the latest version of CWM in order to install a CM10 rom apart from oats which does not require the extra space .
There are numerous guides and you should probably read up on a little bit before just flashing a rom to avoid the problems you are having .

The issue I am encountering is there is a ton of info out there, some outdated some not. I restored back to stock webOS with nothing else. I have ACMEInstaller 3 in the Palm directory, so I am ready to install the most stable/best CM9 currently out there, I just don't know which tutorial is the best one to follow. Could you perhaps just link me to one you recommend?

Should I use CM10 or stick with 9? People say there are still issues with it and it's more of a preview build and not really meant to be used as your standard OS.

[Q] GT-S6500D (jenad) problems with WiFi and SD (internal sdcard0)

Dont stone me if repost, but believe it is not, I honestly tried to study this and other forums for last almost 2 weeks without any results:
I got Mini2 with GB stock ROM and first rooted (using Poot exploit) and upgraded gradually to CWM 6.0.4.5 and CM 10.1 and later CM 11. Didnt discovered any problems except for sdcard0 mount problem as described may times. sdcard0 is not mountable under CWM 6.0.4.5 and CM11 but I think that this can be solved using other threads in this forums, so not a matter here and now, however, it may hint you what is possibly going on. The main thing is, that after trying to experiment with OC kernel, my WiFi always indicates ERROR when trying to switch it on. No matter if in Stock ROM or CM (any version). I tried to reflash Stock and CM (10.1; 10.2 and 11), even repartitioned with ODIN (3.09) and reflashed Stock ROM. No improvement, no change.
Strange thing is, that it was said, that after flashin CM (or CWM not clear now), the offline battery charging does NOT work and phone alway reboots. That can be confirmed by me, but with that exception, that it does NOT work either after reflashing Stock ROM and Stock RECOVERY. Even after this, phone never switches OFF when connected to the charger, just reboots.
I have always did full WIPE (data, cache, format system).
Currently I have Stock ROM 2.3.6
kernel 2.6.38.6-1248583 [email protected] #1 dated Thu Nov 7 20:39:38 KST 2013
Baseband S6500DXXMK1
Recovery reports "Android system recovery (3e)
During last Stock reflash the baseband got upgraded. I am a PC guy, not an Android specialist, but from everlasting WiFi problems and offline charging not working even with Stock ROM and Stock recovery, it looks, like something somewhere got left from my tries with either OC kernel or CWM/CM and prevents Wifi from being switched on. Curently my Stock is rooted so I can get some logs/info anybody can need willing to help/investigate..
Any help or pointers to troubleshooting are highly appreciated as I really love my little cute Mini II.
