Do you recommend this phone? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im sorry for this lame question lol...But im sure here i will get a good answer.
I had an xperia play but its broken now sadly <.< love to play games and youtube...now im seeking some
alternatives to get a new cellphone..
And here are the cellphones available for me
Razr i
Razr D3
Samsung Galaxy S Advance
Iphone 4 8gb
The best choice seems Razr i to me, even if D3 its newer and its dual core...but gpu its lower as many features of it.
I know there may be other choices but those are the best offers in my country.
Thanks! Also sorry for my bad english

The only reason I will choose a D3 instead the Razr i would be money, since it cost less (in my country is like almost 270 vs 460 USD) maybe will be a good option. The dual sim model is far more interesting to me, but as a backup cellphone.
The other two cellphones have no interest for me, take this as personal opinion.

The dual core theme isnt matter
The razr i have an intel proccesor with hyperthreading clocked to 2 Ghz
For me its the best phone of relation phone/price
I recommend it 200%
Intel device - Razr i Owner
Hit thanks if i help you or you like my style

Love this phone, one of the best middleclass smartphones out there.

My last phone was a Sony Xperia Sola and the Razr I is 1000 times better,
i'm so happy with it, i can not put it in words
the only think not so good about it, is the lack of custom roms like cm or miui.

[Q] Should I buy this device?

Thinking of buying an android device. I've two choices motorola defy and milestone. As defy got 800 mhz processor and this got 600 mhz i'm confused i can't buy milestone 2 because of its price. So what's your reviews with this phone? Also adobe flash works on this device?

Depending on your location, you may or may not have Flash. It's included in Stock Froyo, so there's a good chance you'd have it.
The Milestone is a physical beast in terms of durability for a slider phone. I've dropped it numerous times and it's still held up great.
The Defy on the other hand, is insanely durable. It has military standards for durability, but it lacks the physical keyboard.
CPU speeds shouldn't be an issue for you if you are rooting it, you can easily overclock the Milestone to 1GHz from 550Mhz.

i'll root it. That's not problem but i've heard that overclocking reduces battery life. Though my main motto is chatting, texting and surfing net. I don't usually play games but sometimes play them.

Every ROM has its fair share of battery life. Right now, I find that my best battery life is with iceandfire v2.1. The others are good, but I can't get a full day out of them.
both phones are locked in terms of bootloader. this means no custom kernels! all meaning the core of our phones are locked. our roms are based on whatever version of android motorola gives us and whatever the community comes up with, gingerbread updates or whatever, is still based on the latest kernel motorola gives us.
I honestly would tell you to choose htc or maybe samsung. but its up to you as you say you only have these two choices. look at the amount of roms for HTC or SAMSUNG, there is A LOT more than what this phone can support / offer.
EDIT: unless you are talking about moto droid which is different from the moto milestone. the droid is the U.S. variant which runs on CDMA networks and is one of two devices made by moto (other being the xoom) that offers an unlocked bootloader.. I would go for the droid in this case
ummmm I want cpu speed
if u like a Smartphone with keyboard then Milestone,Milestone 2 and HTC Desire Z are the best. but if u want to play games that are heavy like dungeon defenders than u need 512mb RAM = Milestone 2 or HTC Desire Z. because we cant use on Milestone SWAP... locked bootloader...my opinion is save u money a little bit and get a Milestone 2 =)
at least here - milestone is very cheap compared to other android phones. also if you want qwerty, which REALLY sucks btw (but at least it is there) you should get milestone.

umm I just hate typing on the qwerty. it is tough to press, keys are crammed together so you have to touch the key with tip of your finger... not so satisfactory key travel so you cant tell if you have pressed it or not.
I had HTC Wizard and I must say it was heavenly writing experience when compared to Milestone.
Go try it before buying...
The hardware keyboard sucks, but it's still better than the on-screen one, I can't type a sentence without making a mistake in each word.

im about to buy a 2nd hand milestone

hi guys,im going to have a milestone for texting purpose, milestone is the temporary choice for me considering its appearance and 2nd hand price,i would like to ask for some advice whether i should buy it or i should buy another better one in your opinions

Honestly, I would go for something better. Unless you are really looking for a physical keyboard to text on that is. The HTC Desire Z/G2 is another physical keyboard slider that is better spec'd than the Milestone and less outdated. If you can get that I think it'd be a good deal.
If all you are doing is texting, then yes, the Milestone can be a good option. But for anything else, it is starting to become outdated and pales in comparison to other phones.
i see but i can hardly find a phone which apperance is as nice as milestone...so im still thinking...thx

Honestly speaking, you should seriously wait for a new device or purchase something like the Samsung Galaxy S 2. Trust me the milestone is a little too outdated with dual core processors at 1.5GHz beginning to be rumoured about and milestones 550mhz processor not to mention the insufficient amount of ram - 256mb in comparison to others with like 1gb ram e.g. atrix, samsung galaxy s 2 i think. If you are patient and have the money I would wait to see what google will be unveiling soon (probably october 11 ctia or something) or even what apple is most likely unveiling on october 4th.
Milestone even though is outdated can be kept alive, but it involves flashing, tuning, trying, etc. And even after that it still has very small RAM.
If you prefer the looks and you have a _really_ cheap offer and you are short on money you might consider it buying. If not, just wait (as everyone else suggests ).
oh,it seems that i should really consider it carefully, thx guys
Milestone is showing its age bro. If u really want a qwerty android then htc desire Z or milestone 2 is for u.
Buy only if u've got a very good offer on the second hand milestone. U might have to do quite a bit of tweaking n roms testing to find sumthin for ur needs. Gud day

Buying a Razr phone.

Hey guys,
Having a Defy for 2 years now, gives me the opportunity to get a new phone. Not wanting a Iphone or sgs3, simply because they are TO mainstream (no hipster) and the sgs is ugly as fck. The razr i cought my eye. Not only because of its look but alsofl because of its hardware. Only I had a problem with my defy, I am affraid of to have with this device too. Motorola makes awefull roms and kernels. I saw how on stock rom the razr i got owned Buys the sgs3 simply because of the rom. The performance made by Samsung is mostly because of the rom. But the moto users are do damn lucky with the community. I remeber Quarx giving the defy an icredible boost. So I was wondering: is it worth it to buy a razr i or razr hd? And will we get eventualy good working roms that will peform as good as the sgs3? And which phone is better: the razr i or razr hd (i prefere Intel dat_fanboy)? Thanks in advance

I'm also interested in the responses this thread might get. I'm currently a Defy owner, and I'm also looking forwards the Razr i as my next phone (The battery duration and Intel's chip got to me, and here in Argentina, the phone is currently on presale). I'm wondering what led to the current owners to purchase the I instead of the m or hd, and if their expectations were fulfilled so far.
I don't have the choice of the M here but I chose to buy this device instead of waiting for the HD because I loved the georgous edge-to-edge screen and the design overall and because I'm a Motorola fanboy. But the phone even lifted my expectations: I got superb battery life, great performance and yes the screen really is a beauty.
Definetly worth the buy, you won't be disappointed at all!

Razr I or Galaxy Nexus

hi everybody please excuse muy english, but i need a little help, im a happy owner of a razr i, but a friend of mine offers me his galaxy nexus for my razr i... the question is: should i accept? which one is more powerful for gaming? as the razr its a single core and it isnt optimized as the nexus... which will be obsolete first? again excuse my poor english and thank you

What were the reasons you wanted the razr i for and not basically ANY other phone on the market? When i got mine, it was priced 400€, Galaxy S3 was priced ~445€ (before JB, i thought i should have gotten that, now i'm quite happy with my phone again)
Galaxy Nexus' screen is a lot bigger than the razr i's. Compatibility is near 100% while i'm sometimes frustrated about apps not working. The razr i has a 2ghz singlecore with hyper threading, The Nexus is all about pure android while the moto is still way too much customized (i really hate the stock launcher).
Your last question which really hurts to answer is obvious, the razr i will be long forgotten before the galaxy nexus. The nexus will receive Android updates endlessly while i think that Jelly Bean could be the last android version the razr i receives. Also i really HOPE the x86 structure will become bigger in android .. I am afraid of x86 just vanishing, leaving all the razr i users with uncompatible phones for new apps.
so... should i accept?? (thank hoy very much!)
Also the battery in razr i is waaaay better...and I forgot the camera of course..
Old samsung nexus is really only better in pure android updates....
Ask him for new nexus 4...that would be different story ))...
I would keep razr i without any hesitation if I were you....
And intel processors in phones will not go away any time soon if ever....
Jelly bean is perfect, 4.2 is coming after that, better battery, camera, speedier, much smaller but still big screen...
But regarding games?... not sure as I do not play thay much... but if you are happy with all the games you throw at razr i now and they all are compatible then you will be fine in the future...
But let the gamers talk...

1, 'nexus endlessly updating' of Nexus devices, as stated above: I had the Nexus One, Nexus S; both of them were strict on the 18 month update diet of Google.. So, I would not expect ANY nexus to get official Google updates longer than -lets say- 2 years (also due to hardware restrictions).
2, Moto hardware, and Intel; as Google has bought Moto mobile, the new Nexus (X) may have any hardware in it -but it will be Moto heritage.. Just a guess, but: maybe our Razr i is the ancestor of the coming NX?
3, and as for speed/ gaming: Razr i is just like greased salmon, on the phone, with gaming; I would never trade it for any phone else right now!

@sengstaken: Galaxy Nexus. Nexus 4 we didn't talk about.
@TS Well, if you want Ubuntu Phone as soon as it comes out then go ahead and accept the Galaxy Nexus. If you don't want that than keep the Razr i, it's waaaay better.
thanks everyone ... i'll keep my phone then, i hope its processor wont be forggoten
My wife has Galaxy Nexus, so I can say few words about my xt890 vs her Nexus.
1. Display. I like Nexus's display more because of higher res. and bigger size (it's better for gaming and book reading) but the phone is also bigger so for everyday use I prefer size of my xt890...
2. Performance. Comparing to xt890, Nexus looks like a phone from previous century (the fact that Nexus runs JB vs ICS in my xt890 does not help to much to Nexus). Everything is much faster and smoother on Moto - internet, apps loading, gaming, swiping...
Antutu: 6700 on Nexus, 13800 on xt890, games 30-40% faster on Moto (despite having the same GPU SGX540)
3. Battery life. With similar usage Nexus doesn't get through one day, mine leaves about 1.5-2 days.
Some thought about performance - xt890 has 5x memory speed of Nexus and much higher mem speed then any other phone in the market (including quad core models). I guess this is the reason why atom feels much snappier and faster then other cpus. In real life apps are hardly using more then one core but the memory speed can make difference - web page loading, apps opening, apps switching, games - all this need faster memory speed more then additional cores.
The RAZR I is the perfect phone for me right now and I have already have a lot of videos showing how good the RAZR i is on ICS..
And now with jb its just magnificent ...

i completely agree..!
I was an Apple-Fan for the last !!10!! years and had all iPhone Models.. between this iphone models i switched sometimes to Android-Phones but always switched again back to the iPhone.. until RAZRi.. This Phone is perfect, because it is not as big as all the other "super-phones" N4, SG3 etc., it is manufactured perfectly (i hate the plastic feeling at e.x. SG3), big screen but still usable with one hand (very important for me), its totally fast and i only need to charge it every 2nd day... all my other smartphones need to charge every day...
believe me, i would not change it with an iphone5 (my wife has one), although i know RAZR costs half of the i5...
greets
Thats right, i regularly use an Galaxy s3 and is a tad slower than this razr i, its amazing!
More amazing than that is a few days i started using setcpu and right now the max cpu speed i allow its 1.2mhz and the speed is the same! (i havent tried any games yet, just normal use and browsing ) that confirms what MotoXT890 said about the razr i memory speed being much faster than normal ( i didn't know that ) and apparently thats what makes it fast. You really just need more cores for heavy games, other than that they'r useless
i hope the intel processor gets more support soon... even the famous game Candy crush doesnt work...
excuse my english

People considering to buy this phone please read

People if you are considering to buy a lg optimus 4x hd and came here to read whats bad or good about it please DONT
Yes this is because most people coming here are to complain ( speaking from my experience) so you will get demotivated a lot even though this phone is great ( once again in my opinion)
Even though our camera is not the best nor is out optimus UI despite those small things its a great phone for a very good price

I agree you cm camera is actually not so bad in good light (low light it sucks as much as the normal). Optimus UI is just a matter of taste I like it. For now it has one of the best performance/price relation I think. Maybe its not the bestto play hardcore games as it gets hotbut with underclocking your cpu and play games its very good.I thinkthe simple mobile games are way better than the FPS. just my opinion

Arent Nexi budget phones? In all other places where there is no Google Play, they are expensive and when everybody and their mom suggests getting one, it gets annoying really fast.
Here is the thing with Nexus phones. The only good thing about them is Google updates. Stock android experience and so on are all covered by custom roms.
And as for this thread. If you have money, dont bother with the 4X HD. There are better phones out there with better stock roms and quality I believe.
O4X was my first android phone. And i love it.
But i spent to much time waiting on JB on unlock bootloader on rom, everything... so i sell it =(
I changed for SG3 - and those two can not be compared. On SG3 battery for me stands for full 2 days! on OX4 max 12h. Camera is much much better on SG3 - and those are most important things for me on phone.
O4X is cheap nice hardware... but bad support bad battery ( strange wakelocks) is downsides.
And yes... dust under screen... i hated so much LG about that!
Also using this opportunity to say bye to all O4X lovers and community. Se ya i another thread

I never sell my phones. I have a ton of it (including Nokia 1610 from 1996). I've made mistake with Optimus 4X HD, but it's my fault. In the other hand, we don't have Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie or decent phones with powerful chips (Tegra 4, Snapdragon 800), so I will wait for next flagship. My first Android is still working, HTC Hero from 2009 summer.

After nvidias fail with tegra 2&3, you would really risk tegra 4? I accidently left my phone locked to single core only yesterday, and was playing a few heavy games. There was barely any difference. The CPU is insanely powerful, but the GPU is a total POS

nVidias fail with Tegra 2 and 3? The support from manufacturers wasn't exactly massive but they were great chips.
I'd say the Optimus 2x had better performance when it was running a custom ROM, I ran Nova HD ROM it was overclockable and ran really well.
I havent taken the plunge with my 4X rooting and custom ROMs yet, I'm waiting for the warranty to run out first!!

Well in terms of general use and multitasking the quad core is incredible, but considering I just bought a cheap dual core powervr 531 tablet and it runs some games better there's deffo something wrong. I do believe however that game devs are partly to blame, but its enough to make me steer clear

Hey guys... Just wondering how is the call quality with your phone?... Do you get drop outs?... Is the signal reception good and consistent? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I don't make many calls with my phone, but so far the call quality has been fine.
Seriously, I gotta hand it to people who buy quad core phones for games because phones are the worst possible medium where you would want to play a game. If you wanna play games, go get a tablet or a desktop PC with reasonable cooling. A decent PC that can run EVERY phone game costs around 450 euro. Thats cheaper than a Note2 and litterally every 2013 high priced phone.
The reason why this phone cant play games as "Smooth" as you people would want is because of throttling and bad optimization. The heat that is generated while playing a game is ridiculous and the CPU+GPU overheat because there is no cooling happeing there.
The only, and I mean, the only reason why the S3 runs cooler is because of better throttling, not because it has "Efficient" internals.
There are many devices out there that do the "Gamiing" part better but you would be paying 80- 100 Euros more for just getting a "Better" phone for gaming.
When somebody comes around says "Oh, the S3 is so much better"and LG has dust underscreen. May I remind you that the S3 up until January this year had a brickbug +restarting bug and the restarting bug has NOT been fixed. The brickbug was a internal memory error. The restarting bug seems to happen at random with people with the "Insane" chip. I was in a dilemma when I bought this phone. Do I wanna risk buying an S3 and after 6 months it could become useless? I said no.
If you are happy to invest +350 to +400 euro for a phone just because you find the beauty problems of this phone bad then for "Insert your favorite vendor"s sake do so.
I am happy to have a functional phone that when compared with the price of other phones, just blows them out of the water. Phones like the
S2, Sony Xperia S,T,SP, Optimus G, Nexus 4(It costs around 400 euro where I live, compared to 280 euro with this phone.) and so on and so forth.
Hey, I challenge anybody to offer an alternative to this phone with a price range of :
300-350 euro
4.7 Coll HD or FULL HD IPS screen
Removable battery
MicroSD slot
16GB internal storage
The only alternative is the Huawei G615 but that thing is 4.5 coll, has only 8 GB internal storage and does not seem to have CM support.
