Replacement screen dead? - Motorola Droid 4

I replaced the screen on a Verizon droid 4 and when booted, only the middle of the screen responds to any type of touch, capacitive buttons don't work, and the screen selects randomly in the middle by itself.
I've taken it apart and put everything back together 3 times checking connections and same results occur.
Am I missing something or is the replacement a dead one?

Edit: fixed the issues. It was a bad screen. Ordered from a company rather than eBay. Guess that's what I get for trying to save a couple bucks. 2 replacement worked great.

cover the 2 sensors on the top left with a piece of folded paper or something, do they light up?
Ah yes .. I'm sat under a bright light doooh thank you
Thought my home and back was faulty . It sometimes is less responsive than other times (double tap to get multi apps ) but I'm presuming that's a software glitch

Others are reporting issues with the buttons sometimes not responding, not sure if it's a software glitch, or just a small footprint for the buttons, ie you have to press right on the button and not in the general area if you know what i mean.
Cool I'll relax then and stop worrying my phone is faulty. Big thanks

I would monitor how you go with pressing the buttons, it may be a glitch, but i know when i'm using mine, i am often off the button when i press it, being used to the One X for the last year, the buttons are further to the edge, so automatically i have been pressing further out than the actual buttons are.
I always turn mine off. Just saying lol

I have been careful to hit in middle and it's working on now thanks

The capacitive area is in fact VERY small. Just barely bigger than the Home and Back icons themselves. Precision touch is required and is why I suspect some think its not responsive

I use an app called keyboard backlights from play. Works great but recently in occasions they come on anyway. They are off 80% of the time though. Can only do if your rooted btw

Try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39498430&postcount=7
Seems that the One has very small area of touch for buttons, so probably not software problem.
Turn on vibrate and you will realise how small of an area we have .. seems the way it's been designed and not a bug . Vibrate assists because you know when your missing now don't have the issue

My one has some annoying defects

I bought mine with the htc deal a few weekends ago. Ive had it for a while now, and there are two things i have noticed. The area of the back button bends ina littlw if i push on it, it will go in and bend a little and it is very disturbing to me.
On the bottom right of the screen, there is a small streak of light, probably from the home button or something, undwr the screen and it goes a good inch and a half in the screen, on an angle. I think it may have gotten bigger since I have had the phone.
Does anyone else have either of these problems, and what shod I do? I bought it at newegg wireless, not the official sprint store.

take it back, it's defective
Unfortunately i cant provide pictures because the back button thing is not really detectable in a picture, and neither is the white streak of light, i tried. But i bought mine at the newegg wireless store online and it was more than 14 days ago so is there any way of them replacing it?

contact with HTC, say there's some hardware issues for your mobile phone, maybe they will provide a new one to replace it

HTC's service is s...

After having my HTC One for 2 weeks I encountered a problem with charging my phone. So arranged a HTC repair. Packaged the phone with ALOT of bubblewrap and boxes. Phone took quite awhile to be repaired and sent back (15 days). After receiving phone back I noticed the HTC repair centre had damaged my phone had scratches and dings around camera speaker grilles and Usb port area. Plus my Bluetooth has not worked properly since disconnects from connected devices, won't auto connect or if I try manual connect my phone crashes. I have pushed so hard for a resolution to this but they are useless and after a month they have send they will repair my phone but really I expected a lot more apologies and new phone. What other great experiences have people had? Thanks

I don't have much to add but what charging problem did you encounter? Also why didn't you just return the phone were you purchased it? Most stores give you 30 days to return the phone if you have any issues. And my last question is exactly what does the title of this thread intends to say?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
From my experience and most I've heard the title is obvious for that. I bought the phone brand new 2nd hand so was not in my name etc. And Usb port was faulty and would take ages to charge would put phone on charge at night wake up in morning and it would reach about 80% max

Just a note I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a faulty charging cable and the phone was actually working perfectly fine.

I bought four HTC cables on eBay orginal ones. All the same but they sorted the problem. Only reason I had so many problems with them is because they damaged my new phone mate

Sorted now they gave me a new htc one promised to send back my phone with new front but didn't so complained and gave me a new phone. Thanks

RMA for cracked screen

Does anyone here have experience with getting a cracked screen replaced? The device I'm talking about should still be under warranty (it's 1 and a half year old) and was bought via Amazon. Should I send it back to Amazon or directly to HTC?

Some more information... The device is still on stock, no unlocked bootloader, nothing.

If you cracked the screen yourself, then no warranty will cover it.
The point is that I didn't do so, it broke inside the pocket of a jacket. It's only one crack going from one side to the other.

That is still considered your fault. If you had received it that way, you could have turned it in.
I'll try to return it to HTC and see what happens. I'll post my result right here.
Sorry for the late reply, but I decided to repair the phone on my own and just ordered a digitizer / touch screen panel. Will be a bit tricky, but I've already done it with another phone.

Problems installing EB40 battery

My EB40 arrived today so I went to install it and I'm having several issues. I took off the black casing (the one with 10 black screws) under the back cover to get the battery in, and now it won't snap back down properly around the buttons and card slots so it's nearly impossible to get SD/sim cards in and out and the power button frequently gets stuck, requiring the casing under the back cover to be removed again. Aside from that, my screen no longer registers touch input within about half an inch of the top of the screen.
What components may I have damaged installing the battery that could cause all this?

Maybe its a digitizer issue...

Then broke again. It seems to only work properly when both back panels are removed.

Seems I screwed it up somehow... First EB40's ribbon cable snapped. Second one just will not power the phone. Put EB20 back in and now digitizer isn't responding to touch. Can anyone confirm the component marked in the attached image is the digitizer's connector?
