[Closed] - Would a major upgrade to Sense 6 be possible? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I'm very new to the android world, but I'm buying a HTC One soon.
But I have an important question to ask.
If HTC would release a HTC Two later with Sense 6, would the current HTC One be upgraded to that new version of Sense or is that impossible?
Thanks
Matt

Sure, it's one of HTC's best phones. Of course they'd update it

The One X is (already?) getting sense 5. The One will get updates after the next One is released.

Awesome!
Another great reason to own an HTC one.
Thanks guys!

Chances are, we will get six officially and maybe seven or whatever it will be if we're lucky. If we don't a dev will probably port it back for us.

It's nice to see that this will be future-proof.
One final question
How can I rename this thread to make it "Solved"?
I can't seem to find any "Edit thread" button (or I'm looking over it)

No one can answer that question except HTC themselves. Hopefully we will, though.

[Q] Gingerbread Build w/ Sense for HTC Huashan/A9188/T9188

First of all, my apologises, if this has been already posted on the Nexus One Dev site. If so, Please feel free to close thread.
Now to the point, just ran into this post on the main XDA pade and already see people talking about it in the Incredible/Evo 4G/Xperia X10 forums.
Here is the main link for the dump:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11379272#post11379272
I am wondering if this can be ported to my beloved Nexus One?
Obviously, after one of you amazing dev's get to touch, tweak, twist, and make it touchable for us common folks.
Thanks in advance,
CG.
OMG I really thought someone build this port
Your post will be moved in 5,4,3...
Haha. Sorry, I was at work, and should have posted this in the QnA. Now that I see it, I do feel stupid.
Anyways, I agree with you too. I hope someone does do something with this.
Thanks.

Seems like we're getting official Sense 3.0

http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-news/htc-incredible-s-to-get-official-sense-3-0-update.html
"Like the Desire S software update, the software update for the Incredible S will bring with it Sense 3.0, along with its goodies like a 3D launcher, and a widget-izied lock screen. The Android version will also be bumped to 2.3.5, and will also bring Google Talk with video chatting capabilities to the handset."
How come no one have posted these links?
So, looks like HTC won't ignore the IncS owners! For now...
*edit*
(damn, just noticed someone posted this in another thread, but w/e, this way more ppl will see it!)

Read the twitter link from PaulOBrian.
"So Saga and Vivo (Desire S and Incredible S) have official Sense 3.0 builds now. "
If the builds are done, it shouldn't be long before they release it.
But then again, you never know with HTC. For me it seems like they're pretty slow at updating their phones...

Better slow and solid, than fast and buggy

Agreed. I had the original Samsung Galaxy before the Incredible S. The updates from Samsung were buggy and slow to non-existent. That was what prompted me to move to HTC since they seemed much better.
So why does desire s have it and inc s doesn't? They are virtually the same.
And saying there are a lot of phones not having it is a non-sense argument. VIVO is not an old phone. So it is our right to expect better service

Dude we have gb, and sense 3 is coming...
Quit your *****in.
What's nonsense is your incessant whining.
We will also get ics I'm sure.
Htc is one of the best for updates, if you're complaining about this then you probably just shouldn't own an Android phone.

Well, if they continue updating this rapidly we'll have cm9 before official sense 3.0 x)
Anyway, anyone who's gotten the update yet?

As someone with 16000 S-On Im really glad to hear this .. as for the banter on HTC's speed or lack of for updates ... HTC builds are cranked out faster unofficial or official than any other phone models I own ... Normally I don't care much for official rollouts but as there's no s off working for me atm ,knowing that there is confirmed rollouts coming I'm quite happy to wait ... Definate worth waiting for solid n stable than quick n buggy fota...
Can't wait for this to hit, Mike will have a new base for his Android Revolution HD Rom.
Yes that's fantastic news. Hopefully with the new official Sense 3 ROM, more custom ROMS will be available for us IncS users instead of having devs and cooks port ROMs from other handsets. Perhaps soon we'll have more choice of custom sense ROMs! =)
Yeaa, can't wait. Hope they don't put the project on hold, because of the resources they need for ICS device updates.
Got bored of sense 2.1. The 3d launcher looks amazing.
Does anyone know if the dialer issue got fixed in 2.3.5?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Id asked HTC and they replied that Incredible S would surely get a Sense 3.5 update but they didnt have exact schedule now

In fact sense 3.5 will use less system resources than sense 3.0 and thats why devices using MSN8255 can get this update
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Does anyone know the exact differences between Sense 3.0 and 3.5? I've tried both ROMs before and there a few UI changes (e.g the tick and the checkbox is different) and you can jump from dialer to contacts, favorites etc directly from the jog dial and the bottom.

[DEV] Oh hey, Galaxy Nexus full System dump (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Hey guys,
Thanks to Paul O'Brien over at MoDaCo we now have a full system+recovery dump of the Galaxy Nexus running Ice Cream Sandwich.

This is really cool.
Wow, hopefully now developers can create ICS inspired custom roms. Cheers!
there's like 10 of these over at the dhd section lol
No ... This is a system dump from the phone ... Not an SDK dump ... This good ...

Where did you hear this?
These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

but it won't come anytime this year, probably end of Q1 or Q2 2012.

You guys are reading into this way too much.
All they did was give a few obvious ones that would get the upgrade. They never said the rest of their products weren't.
What developers can do with this?

Let me quote myself:
"Right now[...]"
You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."
From the same link that I linked in my previous post. So, I'm fully aware of the fact that this only seems to be a preliminary statement from HTC.

[Q] HTC One vs SGS3 LTE

Hi, I'm thinking of changing my SGS3 LTE for the HTC One. What's the dev support like? It seems a little slow? The main reason I want to move from SGS3 LTE is due to slow support from dev community and Samsung not playing nicely with the XDA dev community. Are things better with the HTC One? Also, how is the phone's performance and what is stock like (also, rooted stock variants)? Is CM10.1 stable? And battery life? I'm keen for some feedback from you guys, the user base! I'm choosing between the HTC One and The Xperia Z.. just gotta change this SGS3 LTE asap!
You are in the right forum..... Do some reading.... Decide it.... But imho... Htc one is the only one..

Ya exactly. There is a wealth of information out there, if one chooses to look for it.
Bottom line: the One is the best phone out at the moment. It is quite an upgrade over last year's flagship phones (save for the camera).

Hi, thanks. Yes there is a wealth of information. But that's not what I'm asking. I want to know what the XDA support is like? That is the most nb thing for me? My choice between the HTC One and Xperia Z is probably gonna come down to XDA dev support.. there's minimal/ok support on the SGS3 LTE and it taught me a valuable lesson.. check with the XDA community first! it's the only way to get the real story..

You asked a number of things. As far as dev support goes, it looks pretty decent so far. I hear that Sony supports devs better than most companies, so it may be better there.
The best thing you can do is look in the associated forums here on xda and decide for yourself which dev-community you believe will be the best for you.
Would help if someone here also has experience with the Xperia.
*edit* trump card might be that there is a GE One. That could bring even more devs onto the One side.

Yeah thanks guys. I think it's pretty clear to me that the HTC One is a superior phone and has excellent support from XDA dev community

Any Android 4.1 roms with Sense 4 for the htc one?

I just bought this phone and am coming from the att one x. I hate sense 5 and would much rather be running a Rom with sense 4. Are there any roms for this phone that are sense 4?
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, feel free to move it. Can anyone help me out this?
Thanks,

That's what I was looking for, but I really wanted one that worked with all the HTC one hardware, and one that's still being supported. :/
Thanks though,
You will most likely not find one that is still supported as it is obsolete.
