I'm back. *sigh* I've got a Lexar 8gb Class 10 microSD card. When I put it in the Nook HD, it isn't listed in storage.I know it works, because it works in an adapter and it's how I installed CM10.1. It's FAT32 formatted with 4K clusters. Terminal emulator shows ext_sdcard with or without a microsd card inserted. Verygreen did say that some cards are still unstable. If I reboot the tablet with the card inside, it crashes Settings when I click storage.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

I wanted to ask before I did it. If I transfer all my data that is on my 4gig card to my 8gig card and switched it out would it be fine? I have a lot of back up files and stuff on my 4gig, but doesn't the new card have to be formatted before you can use it? Sorry, I'm real stupid when it comes to external storage.
Thanks,
Alex
It does have to be formatted as a fat32 drive, which you can do in Windows.
I did the same thing though (transferring from one card to another) and it worked fine.

Cool, Thanks.
You're gonna be just fine transferring content from a 4GB to an 8GB SD. Just watch out for potential hidden files that might not get copied in the process. Usually they are either temporary or cache files that will get regenerated when you use the new SD for the first time.
When I put my card in the card reader my computer doesn't find it, then I put it back in my phone and it's fine. What could be the issue? Would a PNY micro sd adapter work with a sandisk micro sd card?
Well, I found out it was my card reader. It wouldn't detect anything over 2gigs. That's odd, but I got it to work at home. Thanks for all the help.
I am sure this has been covered before but I finally made a boot SD for CM7 and while it works pretty good I want to try a class 4 sandisk SD card to see if its any faster. My question is can I just copy everything from my card now to the new card and insert it in my Nook?

Not using windows explorer. But you can get the free program win32diskimager. It can read your card and write the image to your PC. Then you can write it to your new card.

uSD Card Size
Hi,
I notice a lot of Rom images say will will work in a 4GB card.
Is there any problems using a larger card, like 8GB?
Thanks.
Everett1954
Yep. Use above method to put your image file on anything up to 32gig card; be sure you are using Sandisk brand, though. Small block read/write speed makes this the Nookers choice.
I just migrated from an 8gb to 16gb Sandisk card last night. I used win32diskimager to make an image of the 8gb card and then wrote that to the 16gb card. I then had to use a combination of Linux GParted and EASEUS partition manager to modify the partition sizes. I wanted to make more space available for apps instead of the 1GB (I upped it to 2GB), and expanded the CM7 partition to fill the remainder of the drive. I booted from the new card and everything seems to be working fine.
I've just read the thread of [Nook HD] CM10/10.1 development (sdcard) updated CM10.1 1/31, looking for help with some question.
My device is Nook HD updated to 2.0.6.
I've followed the instruction in the thread,
- mad a bootable SD with a 32GB SDHC and [sdcard-cwm-hummingbirdv4.zip] (after writing with win32diskimager, the SD becomes the size only few MB).
- saved the file [cm-10.1-20130130-UNOFFICIAL-hummingbird.zip] under the root of the internal sdcard of nook.
- insert bootable SD and reboot.
after rebooted, all functions including settings, wifi and apps are running well.
However, it becomes much slower than its origin OS, sometimes when I point a icon, it takes few seconds to react and continue.
Besides the storage is a bit strange: there are two "internal storage"
- one has 1.88GB for all the apps and Cached data;
- the other one has12.67GB but can't be use at all.
and also a SDcard with 26.5GB (my sdcard was 32GB but after writing bootable image, it becomes totally of only few MB)
Are those every thing normal to the progress now, or it just happened on mine?
Specially wondering that why the internal storage becomes smaller and there is a 26.5GB SDcard? (my nook is 16GB version and ext-SDcard has no more left after writing image file) what is that "no using 12.67GB"?
I am waiting reply of answer and Thank you very much!

The problem is your SD card. You say it is 32GB but you don't say the brand or class. It needs to be SanDisk class 4. If you have a bad brand it will run very slowly.
And your SD should look smaller in the PC after making the card. Most of the storage is in a partition that windows cannot see if the card is inserted into the PC. Your nook should see it though as sdcard. That is what you are seeing as 26.5. And that 12.7 you are seeing is internal media storage and is usable as the emmc folder. The 1.88 is your /data partition and is used to store your installed apps.
So everything is right, you are just using a bad SD card.

It's really helpful, thank you.
I'm using Kingston micro sd c4 32GB, is that why so slow?
And, only 1.88 for apps, will that be easily filled up with those apps which can not be move in to sdcard? Is there any way use the internal storage of 12.7G?

Yes that card is probably the problem.
And 1.88 is a lot for apps, but if you need more, CM10 lets you move apps to SD, which would put them on the 26.5 sdcard.
The other 12.7 can only be used for media.

You must use the hybrid method if you want to use the internal storage

I just switched to a 32gb sandisk c4 and its working great now!
Hi everybody:
Now I have installed hybrid CM10.1 on Nook HD in a 8G TF card. Then I would like to replace it with a new 32G card.
My question is how to transfer all the data, use the extra space and does not broke the system.
Thanks
Use win32diskimager to read the 8GB card to a file. The file will be 8GB. Then use win32diskimager to write that file to your new 32GB card. Then use partitioning software like Mini-Tool Partition Wizard to expand the last partition to the full size of the card.
The data on internal memory will remain and be unchanged. You should be able to boot the new SD just like it was the old one. The only difference will be your CM10SDCARD will be much larger.

If I use the win32diskimager utility to read my working 8GB MicroSD Class4 card it sees nothing because using read will only accept IMG files. There must be something that I am missing here, so please fill in the missing details.
I was going to post an image I created using Snagit of what I see when I attempt what you suggested, but the forum software won't let me.
I plan on trying a clone operation with GParted from the working 8GB SD card to the 32Gb SDHC card. I will post my results here

I had made an empty ".txt" file, then rename it to ".img". It may solve the problem.

Just type in a name. Like 8GB.img in the box. You do not have to actually create the file first, win32diskimager will create it. Then after it is done reading that write it back to your new card.

OK. Thanks. I am giving that a shot. I am going to try it on the Sandisk 16GB class 4 card first and then on the Samsung 32 GB class 6 unit. I will post my results here.
The results were negative with theSandisk 16 GB class 4 and Samsung 32GB class 6 HDSC cards. The 32 GB card went into a loop with the appearance of the CWM graphics and back to the initial Nook image. I let it cycle perhaps 10 times. I then tried the 16 GB card and had the same results.

Since that did not seem to work for you, another option is to make a nandroid backup with your old card to internal memory. You might also want to save your files that you have on CM10SDCARD. Then reburn the new card, let it set itself up, flash CM, the converter and gapps to it. Then before you reboot, restore the backup you made earlier. It should then be set up the same when you reboot. Then restore your CM10SDCARD files.

What do you mean it didn't work? Where did it fail? During backup, during new SD creation or restore?
Edit: If somewhere along the line of your trying to fix this, you installed a new image to a card and booted with it before you did a nandroid backup of your old card, you wiped out the internal /data for the old card and it is not retrievable. If you did that, you just have to start over.

I followed your advice exactly. It appeared to work the same way that it did with the working 8GB SDHC card. I still have a nandroid backup of the old card on my PC. It just doesn't work on the two higher capacity SD cards I have. I see that I am going to have to look through the list and find the exact model of a 32 GB card that someone got working. It works fine on the Sandisk 8GB Class 4 card. The two Samsung cards (class 6) of 16 & 32 GB capacity that I own don't work. They are OK for storage use, but trying to install Android on them was a waste of time. I tried so many times. I used your tutorials and others tutorials unsuccessfully. A bum SD card is a bum SD card. I am not exactly a newbie at installing ROMs on devices . I have been doing it on my HTC Desire HD for about a year ever since HTC abandoned us and decided to not give us ICS or Jellybean for our expensive devices. I have Venom DHD on my HTC Desire HD at the moment. I am waiting for my new Samsung Galaxy s4 to arrive this week.
Droid bionic has a max 32 gb external sdcard limitation. is this a hardware or software limitation?
thinking if it was software, could I create 2 partitions on 64gb card and mount extra partition in vold.fstab as usb1 or sdcard-ext2 or something?
thanks.

I do not know if this helps or not but my Samsung Precedent is supposed to have a 16gb SDcard limitation but I have a 32gb card in it and it reads it as such. AlI I can say is stick the card in and see what happens. Once I get my Bionic up and running I plan on moving the card to from phone to phone. Good Luck and hope it works.

Is the OS JellyBean?
is the card formatted exfat or fat32?
Is it class 6 or class 10?
thanks.
Note: reason I'm asking is I have been reading problems with class 10 micros SD drawing too much power and exfat not being recognized with usb thumb drives and I wasn't sure if that carried over to the Micro sd card(for those with a y cable, an OTG cable, and powered hub)
Software problem only, reformat the card as fat32, your phone will ask to do this, and it will work fine.
Been using my sandisk 64gb card for a year without issue in my Droid 3 and now on my Bionic.

I broke down and bought a sandisk 64gb micro sdxc
picked up a sandisk 64gb sdxc class 10 from best buy for $35 yesterday.\
It would not read in my bionic because it is formatted exfat file system. Android no like. ext2 or fat32 is preferred if your a windows user def fat32.. problem with formatting anything that large using windows is you need utils found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773735
that diddn't work for me so I used easeus partition manager to delete partition on card and create a primary (not extended) partition that was unformatted. I then used the fat32format.exe from the link above to format the card all of which was done in windows xp
working now.
I'm sure there are some things here that are not neccessary but this is what worked for me after a few failed attempts.
do not copy files form your old card until you put a couple files on the new card and test it. you will just end up wasting your time when it doesn't work and you have to reformat it again or repartition it again and copy..... again. I copied 29g to the card like 3 times. lol.
my entire music collection will be with me at all times now!
64gb MicroSDXC is 30$ on Amazon (US).
I got one and it is working flawlessly in my bionic. I was running CM11 at the time, but have jumped a couple of ROMs since then.
I copied all files off of my old card to PC (using the card slot), formatted the new card IN MY PHONE, then copied the files on to the new cardPure success. No errors or anything.
Just my experience though! Bionic isn't supposed to handle 64gb cards, but mine did just fine.
64 megabyte SD card
I also purchased a 64 megabyte SD for my bionic and it works great.
