If 'Developer Options' are hidden you have to go into About phone and keep tapping the build number (JDQ39) until it says 'You are now a developer!'
You can then go into Developer Options and turn USB Debugging on

That's really tricky!!! Thanks for the tips! I am another step closer from getting my hot HTC One rooted!
unbelivible.
Thanks for sharing this! I was about to ask the same question, good thing I stumbleupon this post :good:
Could anyone please explain me the purpose of this feature...? I have turned it on, but every time I connect my One to my PC with USB the phone doesn't show before I tap this USB debugging and turn this function off...? (Windows 7)
Thanks, that helped me as well!

Hello,
I have the LG990, I tried to use the usb tethering function but failed.
I am using windows 7. I installed LG united USB driver 3.7 from LG websites.
LGUnitedMobileDriver S4981MAN37AP22 ML WHQL Ver 3.7.2.exe
Then I enable the USB tethering feature on the andriod 2.3. I can see the USB NDIS network adapter in "device manger" of windows 7.
Then I use cmd to ping the ip of the phone, and can get reply.
But when I tried to ping "google.com", through this network, I cant get reply.
My phone connect to internet through wifi. But I dont think this matter as long as I can use the default browser in android to connect to internet. Am I right?
I wonder if I miss any steps, or LG990 in fact, does not support USB tethering.
Please kindly help me if you know how to solve the problem, thanks a lot!
FYI, I went to LG CS in HK, they told me that they did not have any OS with windows 7, they suggested me bringing the computer to their office or format the computer and try again....
Mention the ROm and Kernel you are using.

kernel 2.6.32.9
I am using win7 pro.
thanks a lot for help and suggestion.

thanks for your suggestion, i tried to use" safe mode with networking", but same situation as "normal mode".
Btw, I also changed the property of LGE androidnet ndis ethernet adaptor -> advanced -> " set the physical NIC to promiscuous mode" to enable, but still failed to use tether.
Also, the "tether" network appear to be" local only".I dont know if I need to fix the IP or DNS of the "tether network" to something?
Also, is that something wrong with my kernel version or LG default rom did not install right package in kernel?
Thanks for advice!
No it should work with stock rom also.
Which main connection you are trying to tether? Wifi/3g?

Wifi.
also, is it correct to set " " set the physical NIC to promiscuous mode" to enable?
thanks for reply and suggestion.

Hallo everybody,
this is my first post on xda developers so please excuse me if it is not posted right or in the wrong place.
My i9000 screen broke and i want to access data on the device. I have the HellyBean Rom with the Devil Kernel installed.
I can still start the phone, but i have to navigate blind through the Kernels Menu in order to connect it to the PC.
could anyone please post pics of the menu and submenus required to connect the phone without looking at the screen.
instructions ( i.E. 4xup, menu key, 6x down, menu, etc ... or something like that) on how to do it would also suffice.
Thanks
So what do you need exactly?
You mean connecting the phone to pc, then enabling mass storage?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
thanks for the reply.
exactly, i want to mount the internal storage so i can access the data on it.
the optimal would be screenshots of the kernels main menu and the one where you have to select the "yes" in between all the "no"s.
i can get into recovery. but navigating through it is a ***** with no screen.
anyways, thanks a lot for your reply, have nice holidays and a happy new year.

I think usb debugging is under the developer options (tap several times the "Compilation number" under the about phone setting) .
I'll report your thread cause it is on the wrong section.

and when i check my status of "bootloader unlock check" with number 3845#*880#

my computer is windows XP , installed LG USB,
and downloaded recovery.img,
my phone has SuperSU, Rom manager
succeed in installing CM11 on my 4x
How exactly did you try to unlock the bootloader?
There are plenty of tuts and tools on this forum. If you're trying the 'fastboot oem unlock' one, I don't believe you need to boot into fastboot mode manually.. Make sure you have ADB and the latest drivers installed, connect your phone with USB debugging turned on and type the few commands mentioned in unlocking threads.

Read FAQ. This is only think that U need to do.
Whenever i try to turn on usb debugging, it turns off automatically when i leave the settings page.
Im using the original USB cable, running stock 4.4.4 with root.
Already tried another cable and another PC, didnt work.
Any way that i can fix this?
In developer options, you check it and after you go back its unchecked again?
Just checking if that's what you mean, cause I'm not sure what the cable has to do with it? ?

Yeah, thats whats happens. I have a gif of it, but cant post here because im a new member, :b
Yeah, i dont know why i talked about the cable, lol.
Are you rooted? Have you froze or uninstalled apps you aren't exactly sure what they are? Something connected to USB debugging could be frozen, or missing.
Other than that, I've never had that issue personally... And had a peek around and couldn't find anything similar either really.
You may need to consider a factory reset... Though I'm thinking that won't do it. Or flashing your stock firmware again. 4.4.4 again, if it's available.... Cause downgrading not a good option, without likely bricking.
That's all I can think of.
Do you have anything checked under settings-> security-> device administrators? I had something once on another phone that had an app with administrator access that blocked some things.

You've only just created this thread. I'd give it a bit and see if other ideas come along. ?

Try unchecking one then rebooting. If that doesn't help, try the other one. Not sure if it will work though, but it's worth a try.
You can also try it in safe mode, that should disable any third party apps that might be interfering.
to reboot into safe mode long press the Power Off option that pops up when you hold down the power button.

OK well spitballing some ideas....
- I assume you're not trying this while connected to computer. if you are, then try it while disconnected. you could also try updating the drivers.
- right after USB debugging toggle there's an option to revoke USB debugging authorization. you could try that then plug it to a computer and reauthorize (maybe without leaving settings).
- you say you're rooted. try turning off root temporarily, see if that's causing some complications. or try re-rooting.
- lastly you could try clearing data for the settings app. this will reset some stuff that you'll have to manually reorganize. preview of what will happen see here: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ata-for-the-settings-app-com-android-settings

Revoked USB debugging authorization, nope.
Removed root from SUPERsu, nope.
Cleared settings data, nope.
Original firmware may be the way to go, :/
its the admin app settings
Please just go into your Cerebus app, tap on settings in the upper left corner of your screen, scroll down to where it says "prevent USB debugging (this requires a background service) and uncheck the option. no need to save or reboot, but you might anyway. Your problem will be solved.

same thing happened to me. I was getting pissed off because I hate fishy stuff going on in the background. I'm kind of a control freak when it comes to processes and stuff running on my device. Glad I could help.
