[Q] Unable to Pair Bluetooth Keyboard - HTC First

I'm having trouble pairing my ZAGGkeys Flex Bluetooth keyboard with my HTC First. Let me start by saying that I can pair the keyboard to my Nexus 10 and my Sony Xperia Mini Pro without any problems.
This is what happens with the HTC First: the phone recognizes the keyboard correctly; I select "pair" and a window pops up showing a 4-digit PIN to be entered in the keyboard. I type the code on the ZAGGkeys and press 'ENTER.' The pop-up window disappears but the label on the phone doesn't say "Connected" like in my other devices. What's more: the keyboard status LED still flashes (which means it is still waiting to be paired).
Has anyone experienced this behavior with this or another Bluetooth keyboard?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is understood that the HTC First is first set to discoverable (otherwise, it won't generate the PIN number). There seems to be a problem in the detachment part of the Bluetooth pairing sequence.
I contacted HTC and they blamed ZAGG. I just contacted ZAGG... (guess who they are going to blame?)

yes, I read some place that the gallery app in the HTC First doesn't have the Bluetooth transfer option. Their recommendation was to install the "Bluetooth File Transfer" app on the phone (as well as on the receiving phone). I did just that and I had no problems transferring files.
Good luck!

Yea, exactly there is no option of sending files from Bluetooth...
U have to install 3rd party app to start the port n start listening to incoming n outgoing file packets..
That would do the job..
P.S. : how stupid would b that to keep bluetooh hardware, but no Bluetooth software support..

Did you try it without Jetware? Made sure your bluetooth was set as discoverable? Paired the device? The more info YOU provide as to what you've done, tried, & what setup you've done it with...the beter the help & answers you'll get.
I'd suggest filtering through the following threads. There have been similar problems fixed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364559&highlight=Kaiser+Nokia+car+kit
In the above thread the original poster solved his nokia carkit issue following this:
1. Pair the TyTN II to the car (Nokia HT-2) phone.
2. Switch car ignition OFF and switch off TyTN II.
3. Remove SIM from TyTN II.
4. Place SIM into a compatible phone (in my case Nokia N95).
5. Switch on N95, switch on Bluetooth, switch on Remote SIM access.
6. Change the Bluetooth ID name on the N95 to the same as the TyTN II.
7. Make phone discoverable via Bluetooth.
8. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
9. Using car controls search for new device.
10. When N95 is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as the TyTN II (if you selected the same name for the Bluetooth ID).
11. On the car browse to Settings - Phonebook - Update, this will then import all your contacts from your N95 (or compatible phone).
12. Switch off ignition and switch off N95.
13. Replace SIM back to TyTN II.
14. Ensure TyTN II Bluetooth is ON, Remote SIM is ON and the phone is Discoverable.
15. Switch on car ignition - car phone will not be able to connect.
16. Using car controls search for new device.
17. When TyTN II is found, select connect, it will use the same user profile as before.
18. Now browse the car Phonebook as normal - All your contacts are now available for you to use.
19. Don't forget to turn off discoverability on the TyTN II and to rename your compatible phone (N95) to prevent any future conflicts.
This worked for me! I hope it will work for you! Good Luck!
I did try it with removing the jetware the bluetooth works fine but cant download contacts is there anyother patch or software more compatable with nokia bluetooth devices. Jet ware is good but wont let me disconect call when done any one else have an issue like this
BOBBYDS1 is your connection between the Kaiser and the Car Kit using Bluetooth as a headset (in other words the phone still functions and you can look up and dial with the phone) or is it using rSAP (Remote Sim) which switches your Kaiser into flight mode.
I ask this as it will determine which way you look for a solution. If its using rSAP then most Nokia systems that are fitted into cars as factory fit have not yet developed the correct software to communicate with Windows Mobile devices, in which case you will need to remove Jetware from you Kaiser and use my solution on a previous post as quoted above.

The phone still functions as i can disconnect by the phone it self here is the thing sometimes I can disconnect call by the nokia bluetooth device but a lot of times I cannot disconnect, i have to pull phone out of my pocket and end call
@BOBBYDS1 and fb.knight
No offence guys, but you need to go back to Junior High and learn how to use commas, question marks and letter cases.
Posts like that will rarely get you any kind of a reasonable response.
what nokia bluetooth car kit are you trying to use?
Still not clear if your carkit is using headset or rSAP profiles. Can you either tell us the model of the carkit, or tell us if you can browse the internet from the phone whilst its connected to the carkit?
Punctuation good enough there Dark?! (JOKE!!)
IT is a Nokia CK15-w Bluetooth Car kit Here is a link to it. http://www.nokiausa.com/A4431279
Also I can surf the internet while it is connected to the bluetooth.
Looks like that model supports:
Hands-free Profile 1.5, Phonebook Access Profile 1.0
(Source: Nokia Europe
The Kaiser supports:
File Transfer Profile, SIM Access Profile (rSAP), Dial-Up Networking Profile, Personal Area Networking Profile, Hands-Free Profile 1.5, Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (I'm guessing A2DP)
(Source: www.theunwired.net
So I'm guessing that whilst it will work as a glorified headset, you have no chance of getting your contacts downloaded! Should be able to get them from your SIM, just not the main memory. Wonder why Nokia removed the rSAP profile? It was on their 610 (rSAP only) 616 (rSAP and Handsfree) then from the 810 and CK-15 it seems to be handsfree only. This could be why so many are having problems with Nokia carkits, Nokia went and changed the supported bluetooth profiles. Funny, I would have thought the newer the model, the more it would have done, but I guess not! Glad I looked into this as I was thinking about 'upgrading' to the 810 for the full handset, guess I won't be now!
I am getting confused, I downloaded the jetstream program to the phone and was able to download the contact list no problem. The problem i am having is when i make a call from the nokia bluetooth when I am done and hit the endcall button on the nokia it does not end the call, I have to pull out the phone and hit the end button on the phone itself. any suggestions on how to correct this.

So downloading contacts isn't your problem, hanging up whilst having jetware installed is? Better post would have been something along the lines of:
"I'm having trouble ending calls on my Kaiser using the end button on my Nokia CK-15 carkit. I installed the Jetware program to enable downloading contacts, but this stops the end key working on the Kaiser, before this it was working fine just the carkit couldn't download contacts. Does anyone know of any settings in Jetware I can try, that would restore the end key function, or other software that would still enable me to download contacts and have and end key?" - That might have got you an answer sooner...
Right, the phone as it comes doesn't support phonebook access, thus you won't be able to download your contacts. Actually, none of the Nokia bluetooth carkits support downloading contacts from the internal memory of a Windows Mobile device, probably because no Nokia uses Windows Mobile (yet).
You add something like Jetware which gives you the ability to access the phonebook, but then you are unable to end a call via the carkit. My best guess is Jetware does something which interupts the commands from the carkit. I'm also guessing your stuck with either having contacts download or and end call option. Add Jetware back and play with it's settings. You may get lucky. However bluetooth is very buggy and the only way to get 2 devices to work perfectly with eachother without running the risk of having to fiddle or loose something is to buy them from the same manufacturer and check they are fully compatible with eachother. Two devices from 2 manufacturers don't always work.
Here are some examples:
Old Ericsson headset, will work perfectly with my old HTC phone and can't even be seen by my Kaiser. Slightly newer one (that has an LCD for caller ID) will work once connected until I switch it off, then requires the old HTC phone to be soft reset before it will connect again. Works perfectly with the Kaiser. Brand new, cheapy Motorola headset does what it feels like with no consistency on my older HTC, again works perfectly on the Kaiser. My Nokia 610 carkit will connect to both phones, but whilst the older phone needs to be soft reset before turning off the ignition (otherwise the phone part of things crashes), the Kaiser will connect and disconnect just as Nokia intend. The carkit will only download SIM contacts. The fix posted above isn't really a fix, it's fooling the carkit into thinking that another phone (the Nokia N95) is the kaiser, downloading the contacts from it and then reconnecting the real Kaiser. Not a fix, but a brilliant workaround.
Also noticed that the CK-15 uses bluetooth version 1.2, the Kaiser bluetooth version 2. This might be something to do with it.
In short, I think you will have to live with either a phonebook, or an end function. Welcome to the wonderful world of bluetooth. It also doesn't help that Nokia hasa a history of making devices which don't work with anything other than another Nokia device...
Is there any way to change the kaiser to use bluetooth 1.2. Also is there a way to contact jetware besides email as they dont reply.
In your reply you state thAT Nokia devices csnt download from internal memory of kaiser phone, how can i set it up to download from the sim is there a way.

I seriously doubt anyone will be writing a bluetooth stack v1.2 for the Kaiser anytime soon. I also have a feeling that the versions are hardware, not software related, so its impossible. I think you may have to accept that the Kaiser and Nokia will never play nicely. Why don't you install Jetware, sync your contacts, then either disable it (I'm sure I remember an option in the settings when I tried it previously) or just delete the program? You could keep the installer cab on your device somewhere as its only 500kb for when you need to reinstall it?
If there isn't a phone number on the jetware homepage, I'm betting you can't call them. But I did notice there is an advanced set-up options menu. Did you try unchecking all the boxes apart from phonebooks? If the "hang-up/swap to incomming call" option is unchecked, Jetware should pass that command to the phones standard bluetooth software and give you back your end key. From the Jetware site:
"When this option is unchecked the Extension will allow hang up commands to be processed by the built-in code, which will disconnect all active voice calls."
If it's currently checked, try unchecking it.

Have you read the manual? In my 610 manual, it tells me I can choose to dowload phone, SIM, or phone and SIM memory. Does yours?
Now it seems that call waiting is not working in the bluetooth unit, itried the settings both ways in jetware but still no go. any ideas

bluetooth pairing code never accepted

Hi,
I have a strange comportment of my Diamond when I try to pair bluetooth devices whitch have pairing code different of 0000.
Everytime I try to give the pairing code of the device (1234, not changeable), the enterred code in cleared when choosing the "next" button.
(assuming then that code is not needed or is 0000).
Has anybody a solution for this problem ?
Diamond is with original firmware from HTC (the one dowmloadable on there site).
Thanks in advance for your answers
Bouhboulle.
More of the same
I have the same problem (posted earlier). My car's hands-free requires a random code provided during the pairing process, and pairing never succeeds. I understand the Diamond tries 'standard' codes - 0000, 1111, 1234, etc. is there a way to disable this?
Me too
The same for me using Diamond from Vodafone with Vodafone 3D touchflo. I can't pair with any BT device. Please help from anybody.
Thanks a lot.
I do not have this issue.
I can pair with any code on laptop. And my carkit (parrot) just pairs perfect with 1234
BUT
When entered the code, just WAIT, and don't fill it in again. I often see the 'code' field again, and want to enter. Pairing twice gives error etc. Just ignore the empty field, when paired it dissapears.
Think its a tiny bug.
Still the same...
Hi Riel.
There is no option to enter the code twice, once you press next automatically deletes the field and acts as an enter.
BUT, surprisingly, I have installed a cooked ROM and the same again... I now have my doubts about the BT application, I think is the original one from the OS and not an cooked accessory.
I hope that anybody reading this could put some light on it as is one of the strangest behaving I've seen around PDAs in many years.
Thanks for any help.
Its strange my diamond works fine with parrot kit but not with my bt kit
anyone knw why,
Here is the solution
Go Start/settings/connections/bluetooth/right down press security tab and uncheck passkey
Doesn't work, for me at least...

Thanks for the answer but I have tried and doesn't work. On the screen says this is for infrared connections, or am I lost?.
Cheers.
EDIT: I got it finally but the only way is to flash the original ROM and later the one you like. Also remember that some devices does not support more than one pairing partner, this happened to me with a Nokia BT headset, I had to refresh it.
Good luck.

Why can't I hear my Bluetooth a2dp headphones?

I can't get my XV6800 to send sound to my new HP GW470AA stereo noise-reducing headphones. This is my first experience with BlueTooth. I made sure the phone was fully charged, then used the HP setup procedure, in which I temporarily turned ON the phone's pairing switch. The phone shows up in the list of recognized Bluetooth devices, where it is told to provide stereo sound. I've turned BlueTooth ON in both devices, as verified by the blue flashing LED on each. But sound continues to come through the 6800's built-in speaker. What have I overlooked? Is there a setting somewhere that tells the 6800 "Don't automatically switch sound to a Bluetooth device"? If so, where?
Is there a port setting I'm to set somewhere? No ports show up in the BlueTooth field that lists ports.
For what it's worth, I may have messed up during installation by specifying a short password when asked if I wanted to do so. I tried to repeat the install-and-pair process, to no avail. I can't seem to get the phone to forget the original pairing.
The phone works when connected via USB.
Help!
First, undo everything that you did to get back to square one.
Please realize that I don't know how your HP Stereo Bluetooth Headphones get put into pairing mode, but connection of a Bluetooth headset to a phone is initiated on the phone.
Go into Settings and select the "Connections" tab.
Tap on the Bluetooth icon and then go to the "Mode" tab
Tick the box that reads, "Turn on Bluetooth."
Now, go to the devices tab, put your headset/headphones into pairing mode, and tick on "Add new device..."
When you see your Bluetooth device show up, select it. You will be asked for a password.
The standard Bluetooth pairing password is simply four zeros (0000).
Select Connect and you should be done.
Good luck!

Unbelievable. How are 99 percent of users supposed to know this? I don't recall whether I was prompted for this the first time around. I've never seen the Connect option.
My best hope, it seems, would be to undo my first attemptl. But how?
1. Go into Bluetooth Connections in Settings, select your device by holding down the stylus on its name. A menu will pop up, and one of the choices will be "Delete." Select that one!
2. Although I cannot guarantee it, I am guessing that pairing your HP Bluetooth headphones to the phone is pretty much like pairing any Bluetooth headset with a phone. Of course, the thing that makes me curious is why you want to pair "headphones" to a phone rather than a "headset?" For a phone, you'd probably be better off with something like Motorola's HT820 that allow you to not only listen to audio files, but also allow communication, which is after all, the main reason for having a "phone!"
3. No, you do not need to make the device visible to other devices. That setting is for when you want to pair your device with a computer to perform a Bluetooth ActiveSync.
4. Yeah, you'll want to crank on both switches to put your headphones into pairing mode. The phone's LED flashes more quickly because it is "seeing" the headphones.
5. See item number 1 above. It should not be in the list anymore. You should only see "Add new device..." unless you have previously paired other devices. In my list, in addition to "Add..." I see Motorola HT820 and Motorola H12, the two headsets that I have paired. You might see something similar.
6. The pairing code is generally written in the instruction sheet that comes with your Bluetooth accessory. As I stated, it is generally four zeros, but that doesn't prevent a manufacturer from using something different, so check the documentation that came with your device.
7. As I said, undo by following what I wrote in item 1 above.
Good Luck!
Rob
Rob,
Thanks again. I was able to delete the existing instance, using your instructions. I was prompted for the passcode, and entered 0000, the passcode for Vista. This password turned out to be incorrect, so I'll go hunt down the directions for XP; I recall that it differed.
It works!!! Can't thank you enough.
Glad I could help.

Pairing bluetooth headsets

I just recently bought a new stereo bluetooth headset (dell BH200) which sounds great when I play music through it, but it comes with a gigantic flaw. I can't make or recieve calls. The moment any of that happens, the headset disconnects itself. I'm wondering what the problem is since the headset does support 2.0 with EDR and so does the fuze. One thing I did noticed though was that when I paired the headset, it did not ask for a passkey at all and just went straight to "save".
I'm wondering if there is anything that I can do to make the headset work with phone if anyone has any idea. I was lurking around and someone mentioned something about CoD (class of device) but I dont think that's the issue.
Thankyou for your time reading this post.

mmm me thinks that it may not have paired correctly. I don't actually know much about the model you have. I have a Iclip R32 which I have had paired with most of my phones. It always asks for the passkey. I have always, once paired, made a call to my phone while the headset is connected. Not sure if it is related to my device or not but if I do not do this it will do weird things when I listen to music and receive calls. Sorry if this has not been of much help to you.
Bottom line: I would delete the pairing and do it again.

I heard rumors about the bluetooth stack automatically assuming passkeys for "unsafe" devices like headsets and all that. If anything should I consider getting a different bt stack? Mm I checked them with the link you sent thanks for that.
Maybe my headset is getting old but it always asks for a passkey when I connect it. My Touch Pro did just like my Kaiser and Hermes. Sorry but maybe you will need to check with Dell. They do not mention any thing but I'm assuming that they have a microphone for phone calls....
edit: Doh I just read the 2nd page of reviews and it does have a mic. Sorry should of checked that before.
Well since your touch pro most probably runs wm6.1, i doubt it's because your headset is old. I wonder if there's a way to disable this automatic passkey guessing thing.
Anyone? any ideas on how to disable the automatic pin number guessing feature of wm6.1?

Would it be a good idea to use a different bt stack or am I stuck with no choice at all?

Anyone have a problem with their Raphael (assuming it's a HTC Touch Pro) dropping bluetooth (especially headsets)?

Which makes me believe that your car system doesn't have the correct standard.

hmm i think they (the HTC) name it "Hot fix to enhance WAP security for HTC Touch Pro" ... it's on their website (http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=all), but i was not able to install it on my raphael..
but my first priority is to make my bluetooth headset works with my HTC Raphael... can some one help me??
Losing bluetooth connection also occures with the T-mobile Dutch rom. (using original carkit of my Opel/vauxhall Vectra) Bluetooth on mij Vario IV is completely switched off after beeing several minutes connected. No problems with other bluetooth connections.
yes i have been having this problem lately, never had it before though, but all of a sudden it happens now, i will have to power down my headset and power back on in order to re estabilsh a connection

I've been using mine with two different JVC bluetooth radioheads and I don't
have any problems. Also different headsets, no problem.

A hard reset has solved a lot of all my connection problems. I could not believe that this would solve anything but now i am convinced. It really works. Even the GPS fix is now really good (sorry might be off topic).

I have a bluetooth carkit from Nokia and have a problem when recieving a call. A outbound call using the carkit is going good but when recieving a call it doesn't use the carkit but the phone.
Who has a solution?

Are you answering the call with the buttons on the phone, or on the carkit? AFAIK answering with the buttons on the phone will always route the call direct to the phone, and bypass any headset or car kit.
Cheers,
Steve.
