No sound. - Sprint HTC One (M7)

So the other night I got a call in the middle of the night and my phone rang just fine full volume, after the call I threw my phone down on my pillow beside my bed and the next morning when I got up my sound was no longer working. I noticed it first when I plugged my phone into my aux port in my car and I had to turn the car stereo to full volume to BARELY hear my music. After that I unplugged it and noticed I no longer had sound through my speakers except when in a call. I can hear just fine out of the handset speaker however speakerphone does not work. I am rooted running Cyanogenmod though it was working fine for about 2 weeks. I have checked all sound profiles all sound settings and even tried reflashing cyanogenmod. If anyone might have some ideas they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Dude. Try restoring a sense backup first. Then we'll know for sure if it's a hardware or software problem.

Do you know how I would go about doing that? I lost my original backup a while ago. Is there a program like Kies for HTC?

Maybe there is some trouble with your Headphone input detection. Have you tried to use a headphone with it? Do you have sound then?
Thanks for the answer!
Yes, when i put my headphones in, i can hear the voice of the "caller" and i can hear music....but when i put the headphones out again, i cant hear him.
So i thought, perhaps my phone thinks that there are always my headphones plugged in.... but my music player plays sound through the speakers....strange?!
whats going on?! is there a different phone.apk i could try? but i flashed many FW and nothing solved the problem...
or does an app exist here i can test my external ear speaker?!
I vaguely remember a CM7 issue wherein you had to toggle mute to trigger the voice to work on calls. I'm sure your problem is different, since it's happening across multitple firmwares, but it's food for thought.
I would have also assumed your phone was thinking headphones were plugged in when they weren't. But if music plays through the rear speaker just fine, this must not be the case.
Whatever it is, good luck!
Does nobody know a method or a app with what i can test my "Earspeaker" ?
I have the same issue with my i9000M and have been unable to determine the cause. There must be a way to completely wipe the phone and restore a stock ROM in order to reset whatever setting controls handset speaker volume.
psss... noone is looking??? it is top secter Samsung's procedure, do not share:
1. factory wipe
2. flash stock firmware
3. factory wipe
I've got this exact issue.. proximity sensor is also broken and locks up the phone. I disabled it with a patch - but my earpiece is non-functional on stock.
Ideas? Hardware defect?
[Sorry to bump.]

[Q] Bluetooth/sound malfunctioning

Got Note 3 on launch day. Worked well until a few days ago when all attempts to use my Bluetooth speakers (Jambox and Big Jambox) began to result in the sound coming nearly inaudibly from the phone speaker. Additionally, when I attempt to use the auxillary jack in my car through the headphone port on the phone to listen to audio, the sound now comes out the car's speaker phone unless I turn off Bluetooth (on the phone). Even worse, after I attempt to use Bluetooth, the volume on the phone is stuck at approximately 25% of normal even with the all the volume sliders at maximum until I restart the phone. I have performed a factory reset without any change. I have unpaired and re-paired all three Bluetooth devices I use. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I have a faulty unit? Any help would be appreciated.

Finally...found someone who is having the same problem as mine.
yes.. im getting pissed off because of this to. Had to do a factory reset for nothing. Didnt fix it at all.
when i get into my car and turn the bluetooth on ... open the stock music app...it says "unable to play during call". Using another music app will result in the sound coming from the phone speaker (the one to use for calling)... reseting the phone makes no difference....
this is really annoying..

Before seeing this post of yours..i thought it might be because of the defective phone...but turns out its not...
When the bluetooth is connected....when you press the up/down volume button...notice that it is changing the sound of an incoming call.....

I did not have this kinda issue with the old version that came with the phone. After the newest update, it's kept on happening. So I guess its because of the update....
"the volume on the phone is stuck at approximately 25% of normal" => This actually is the reason why we can't play music. The phone thinks that we are on a call.
Your point about the volume rocker showing the call symbol is exactly what was happening in retrospect. And the phone, while it wouldn't play media files, would still connect for a phone call. This is all past tense because I swapped that phone out tonight and am really hoping that will do the trick. One would think that if this was due to an update, a whole lot more people would be having trouble.

Unfortunately, the new phone is acting like almost exactly like the old one now so software it is. I have found a couple of work arounds but hope they will be only needed temporarily.

Found an idea on another forum that seems (so far) to have solved my problem. One of the folks on the Android Central forum noted that when the text+ app was set to take incoming calls, the Bluetooth got wonky in exactly the same way mine did. When I unchecked "Enable incoming calls" in the settings of the text+ app, my phone started working correctly again (so far).

Your not alone this a many of several none issues on this phone. When i stream music from my bluetooth headset the audio is minimize to a set volume and I'm unable to increase it.
Fixed
I have had no further problems since changing the setting in the textplus app. I would consider my issue solved!

This fixed the issue for me too. Thanks!

Had the same issue, using a galaxy s3 took the 4.3 update and the problem started.
turns out it was text plus, I had to log off of text plus , all good once again. I'm going to uninstall text plus and re install, see if it helps, if not, I don't need that app that bad.

Hangouts is in call in the background
I was getting the same error "Unable to play during call".
By killing Hangouts from Application Manager, music starts playing normally.
I turned off Hangouts to permanently resolve the issue.
Hit Thanks!, if it helps

[Q] Headphone issue

I have an unrooted, locked, never been dropped HTC One.
The headphone socket has stopped working. I've gentley cleaned it out with a q-tip, given it a blast of compressed air etc but it's made no difference.
Is there anything I can check to see if I can get it working again?
Secnod point. The first time it didn't work was the day after I'd updated to 4.4.2. Fluke or connected?

have you tried some other headphones?
does the sound come out of the speakers even if you have the headphones plugged in?
does the headphone symbol come up in the statusbar?

Yes - sound comes out of speakers with headphones plugged in
No headphone symbol in the statusbar
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a hardware problem to me. What you tried was good, but I think you probably need to send it off for repair

thinking outside the box.... nice. :good:
Thanks for your help. Bluetooth route seems less hassle.
Since it happened day after upgrade, and you are locked/unrooted, why don't you boot into safe mode (not sure the steps, but Google HTC boot safe mode). Then plug headphones in, see if it works then.
Last resort, do a system reset before sending in also to see if that solves it. I hate to sound like typical HTC support, but give it a shot. Just seems to coincidental to me right after phone upgraded.

Full reset, and if that doesn't work, i'm afraid you are going to have to send it in
It's definitely hardware. If I push the jack to the right (while looking from the front) with the jack fully in it will work. That makes me wonder if there's something I could do from the top with a jewellers screwdriver? Any thoughts?

No sound at all

So, about 24h ago, my phone lost the ability to dispense and intake sound. Just like that. A peculiar thing is that only audio jack works.
I didn't drop it or hit it or damaged it in any way, nor did anyone else, the phone was with me all the time. It just stopped playing the sound whether it's a ringing or sms or a notif of any kind. Music don't play on speaker, and when a call happens, there is absolutely no sound on either end of the line.
I did a factory reset and a V20b reflash and everything else and... nothing helped
Is it a hardware fault?

looks like a hardware fault to me, but it could be something pretty simple. It sounds like your saying the mic died also? this would narrow the issue down if so.

Yes, the mic died, too, because when called, the person on the other end gets no sound whatsoever from my part. It's the same the other way around, which is strange since the mic and ear speaker are on the opposite sides of the phone. What takes out both of them + the main speaker?
I recorded a film with camera while a moderate music played in the room, but there's nothing but crackling.

Yes, maybe 3 hours before I noticed the problem the first time. I listened to music while outside.
If you're aiming at the phone thinks it has earphones always connected, it's not that. The phone clearly registers when they are plugged in and when they aren't by displaying, or not, the earphones icon in the notifbar.
Sounds like a weired issue to me. Once it happened, did you reboot the phone after this isue occured?
If I remember correctly, my old phone (not this one) had exactly same issue, I think rebooting and clearing cache and stuff (not sure if factory reset) fixed the issue. Worth a shot before going to fix the hardware
It's happened to me many times on my last Sony phone. Just keep jamming the headphones in and out and it should clear, the phone still thinks they're plugged in

Yes, a few times. Factory reset and V20b reflash, too (It was on official 4.1.2 anyway), and wiped all the partitions from boot menu.

As I stated in my previous post, phone detects the headphones the normal way when they are plugged in and displays the headphones icon in notification bar, and removes it when I pull them out. Furthermore, music players pause/stop playing the moment the phones are unplugged.

Thanks, I'll have a look, but I'm not really sure what I can or should do.
The thing is, the phone is under a year old and has warranty, so I elect not to open it by myself... yet. Just don't want to leave it at the shop where it'll most certainly spend at least 10 days before anyone even looks at it (because of Easter and International Workers' Day). I'm also baffled by the fact that the ear speaker on top of the phone doesn't work. If it were just the bottom part, I would've gotten a replacement and switched it myself (one part holds both), but it's obviously something more complicated than that and I don't dare to discover what on my own.
In any case, I'll see what I can do about the problem after the holidays and I'll keep you apprised of the outcome.
Epilogue: The motherboard was faulty and they gave me a new phone.

Help Needed with sound problem

I have been using my G Play Mini running nougat Aospa ROM 7.3.0 . Everything was fine. I used the alarm clock, music and video apps regularly, and suddenly all the sounds of my phone does not work. First I thought it was only the microphone as It would not record any sound on my voice notes but then I tried to make a phone call and to play music and speakers would not work also. After that I tried plugging in my headphones and the phone would detect earplugs connected but neither the sound or mic works. I reinstalled the stock firmware from 4.4 to 6.0 and nothing.Though i found out when playing FM radio in loud speaker mode, the rear speaker worked fine. Nonetheless, its pretty weird all the speaker and mic stopped working at the same time.Bluetooth speaker works fine though. I even tried using various apps to boost the sound but still at zero. When i try playing music there seems to be a noise like hissing sound and after sometime the area around speaker gets hot. It has been troubling me for days. I even took it to customer care for help, but they returned it to me back saying it cant be repaired.
Has anyone other faced this problem ? Any help or suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions, i tried like 10-15 apps to boost sound or amplifiers and to check if any of the hardware part was not working or not. Everything was on sound condition. but no sound. that was until 3 days ago. i tried to change the sim to another phone and restarted it, was working for a minute and then it went dead. Currently on the workshop trying to figure out what happened after i did everything i could at home. No charging, no forced updates when buttons pressed nothing. I jst want it to be working cause its one of my fav device. will get back here if i get it working again.
