Anyone know if we should turn off the device overnight? Mine stays on after the TV is turned off.

How do you power it? I have mine plugged into a USB port provided by the TV, so it turns off when the TV turns off. Not sure how it works with the supplied power brick. I would think the device would have to be plugged into both USB and HDMI for it to power up. Perhaps being plugged into the HDMI powered off and USB powered on is enough.
I noticed it gets quite warm after use, so you would want it to shut off when not in use.

The manual says:
"Chromecast may get hot to the touch; this is normal. Unplug Chromecast's power source and let it cool before removing it from your television."
That is all it says about it overheating. This probably means that it is fine for you to leave it plugged in.

The title says it,don't tell me somethin like "look at the top right of your screen" cause I offline charge it. Now I turn off the phone, plugged in the charger, yay its charging. 5 hours later I go check on da phone,WTF? It doesn't say anything, the battery logo with the lighting icon is still da same! So how can you tell if its fully charged? Cause It never says anything. And don't tell me to turn it on and see if its a 100%.
Now that's pretty odd. Hmm, maybe its nothing. Try this,if you are running on an old firmware install the latest from the update centre,if you already are using the latest firmware try resetting it,not just the settings but with the data being wiped as well.

Cause if you charge your phone while its off,its a thorugh charge. If its own it won't be fully charge, its resources are still used. I called Sony and asked them about it,also years back when I owned a lg,nokia and samsung device. They all said the same charging your phone while its off is the best thing, cause its a thorough charge.

Talk about paranoia, just use it normally, don't turn it off, unless you're planning to keep the phone for the next 10 years. It _might_ have made a difference in the past with the _old_ batteries, but with LiPo it makes little difference.
Safe yourself the trouble.
I thought the phone has a Li-Ion not Li-Po.

There is no way of telling short of changing the way the notification light works for charging and I wouldn't even know where to start with that. Just leave it on, the XZ charges (with official charger) in like under 2 hours anyway, you're only making things difficult for yourself.

Hello guys my HTC One that I got around launch suddenly decided to quit out on me. It had died because I was using it. I charged it for a bit and then it died again so I put it back to charge and no LED light. I've switched out with multiple cables and nothing seems to be working. So I'm going to go on a limb here and say its bricked. Any other words of advice?
Btw it is a T-Mobile phone so what do I do if it is in fact bricked? Will they replace it for me because I would hate to buy another phone because this thing isn't cheap. Thank you guys in advance

I apologize but the search function here on XDA seems to be down at the moment?
I'm curious if the X has a charge indicator, that would let you know it's charging, and if it's been fully charged....without having to touch the phone?
Also, does the stock texting app on the Moto X support group texting?
Thanks!

Cool, it's just that a couple nights ago, I went to plug in my HTC One and when I did, I didn't get the indicator. So, I discovered that the charger had become partially unplugged from the wall. If that had been my new Moto X, I would have never known and consequently not been charged when I woke up.
Come on Moto, gimme a little light for cryin' out loud.

That's why the screen turns on when you plug it in.
If I am correct, doesn't moto x have daydream since it is android 4.2.2? You could just set it to daydream when charging that way you know when it is or isn't.

Yea, the screen turns on for about 10 seconds... Though, I concede that if the charger gets unplugged after the fact and you aren't there to see it, you wouldn't know... But I honestly disliked the led, ended up always flipping my phone on their face because the led bugged me.

Sans LED
Excellent points, everyone. Thank you for responding.
This is my first day with the phone and I find it so much easier to use, and better sounding than the HTC One.
Again though, regarding the LED, I think I'm going to miss checking my phone at a glace for notifications. I know it "breathes", but not as frequently as an LED flash. For example, let's say I leave the room and my phone on my desk. When I get back, I would like to just glace at the phone to see if anything has happened. Without the LED, I have to nudge the phone to get it to show me, correct? If so, that's not exactly "touchless", is it?
My old Motorola XPRT had the trusty ol' multicolor LED. I could tell if it was a facebook message or an email.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Maybe this needs to be it's own thread topic?
Thanks!
As for a charging indicator, there is an LED underneath the earpiece. That being said, I've only ever seen of once lol. My phone was completely dead and plugged into a Yamaha stereo USB getting a very weak charge. It has never activated again for me, and in another thread someone said they saw the LED active on a demo unit at an ATT store. I have played around with lightflow but no luck.

Nope, the method moto x uses, for me at least is far superior, informative and intuitive. The intervals in which it breathes with a notification is between 5 and 10 seconds and from a distance is far more noticeable. I love everything about active notifications and do not see myself with another phone, from this day forward, with out it. It is my favorite and most used feature and it has, literally, made my life easier.
I'm an electrical contractor and own my own business... Basically run the business from my phone. I get emails, texts, phone calls etc every 10 minutes from 6am until 6pm, before the moto x, I would probably push my power button a few hundred times a day, now, maybe a few dozen. Between the active notifications and touchless controls, this one device has single handedly changed the entire way I conduct my day to day affairs in a very positive way.
To be overly dramatic, this phone has changed my life =P
Seriously though, this is the first phone who's features actually make a noticeable, if not monumental, difference in day to day operation. I use to be a Samsung fanboy, but screw Samsung, Motorola/Google knows what's up.

After some quick camera work i got a pic of it. It comes on really qickly when the battery is completely dead (at least thats how i got it to appear) and it doesn't stay on very long at all. The first time i saw it however, it did stay lit up while the phone was charging. OEM USB cable was used, just a run of the mill usb wall plug and it pops on for a quick second

Different strokes I guess. It's plenty enough for me.
That LED only shows up when you plug in a totally drained phone. (Less then 0%)
The phone does not have enough to power up the screen to show the battery image, so the led comes on until the battery has recovered enough, and disappears.
