Hi All,
Are there any differences in the screen with HTC One? I compared my HTC one with my friend's, with full brightness, there are lots of differences. My phone is not that bright enough and the same photos look totally different. In my friend's phone, its more bright and vibrant, but in my phone its a bit dull. We both are in the same firmware version and build.
Please advice.
thanks.

I'm not sure how many people are BOTH HD2 and HD7 owners, but if you are, I would like your opinion: which one offers a better display? As far as I know, the hardware is completely the same (battery, processor, RAM, etc) but I am unsure about the display
Thank you!

This video provides a pretty good comparison of the 2 devices running WP7.
The comparison starts at about half way.

THe HD7's start screen looks much better than the HD2 in terms of colour reproduction but they look pretty similar everywhere else.

TY jonno!
I have both and they clearly are not the same hardware. HD7 is a much brighter and clearer screen.
HD2 comes with a 65k color display, while hd7 supports 16 million colors.
You can clearly notice it at the first sight. Its more vibrant and alive.
Has anyone been able to compare it to the HTC Desire HD or one of the other HTC S-LCD screened devices such as the Mozart / Trophy?
I'd like to know how they compare as the Desire HD's screen is incredible and if the HD7 is even half as good I'd be completely content.

I have worked with desire hd, and seriously, the display aint any better than the one on HD7.
HD7's display is just as sharp and vibrant as the one on desire hd
Since there's such a huge difference between HD2 and HD7, how is it appeared to Samsung displays? Is the difference just as great?
Can you not get into a store and check them out side by side, in my opinion the best method for visually comparing differences.
Came from a Samsung to the HD7 and I can't see any noticeable difference, but thats the opinion of an old git with failing eyesight ;-)

Wow, that's fantastic!
I was incredibly impressed by the Desire HD's screen, it almost looked like a fake unit as the screen was right up on top of the device and it was all so clear.
It's going to be even harder to wait to get my HD7 now.
I have both phones and agree with one of the posters above. The screen on the HD7 is significantly better than the one on my HD2. Colors are brighter and more vibrant. Viewing angles are slightly improved. These were compared with the same images and WebPages on both phones.
The HD7 just looks better!
thank you for the replies
hi
I Have both hd7 and hd2

Well...the battery isn't the same, but pretty much everything else is, with the exception of the buttons. The displays are the same for appearance. I detect no difference.

yes, that's what i assume but as others have noted, they say the display is different. i thought it was the same display panel but the early posters disagree.

It might be the placebo effect they are experiencing. At one time I actually thought is was more washed out than the HD2's display. But I chalked it up to newness...not being broken-in yet. Nevertheless, both devices do have a gorgeous display, among the top level for LCD displays.

thank you for the video. very good comparison
When you watch the video, the verdict is easy. The HD7 screen is much brighter.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I own an international HD2 and a T-Mobile US HD2, when you compare those screens the TMOUS HD2 screen is much brighter. So when even the various versions of HD2's are way different, how trustworthy is this video.
I think they are exactly the same.
If the HD7 is "brighter" than the HD2 it's probably because it is adjusted that way via a setting in the OS.
I discern no real difference between my HD2 and HD7.
Hello, I bought my I9000 about one year ago. My brother has an older I9000 and many friends have newer devices. I just noticed that my I9000's colors are weaker and un healthier compared to other devices.
The colors on the screen are weaker, especially the blue colors. I don't 100% sure but I think that more colors are weaker. I took a shot of my galaxy near my friend's galaxy when they both running the same facebook application.
My galaxy is the device on the left.
It's very noticable and very annoying since it has to be exactly the same. I'm not sure, but I think that the problem was since the first day I bought it. I just noticed it few days ago when I used my friend's galaxy.
Any advice?

check your brightness level
Settings - Display - Brightness
or if your phone was rooted, and the rom/kernel has voodoo controls, you can make your phone twice the brighter as normal. my lowest brightness in settings (with voodoo controls RGB multiplifier and gamma hack) is just as bright as the iphone's MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS. or i think mine is more brighter. (WHAT MORE IF I SET MY BRIGHTNESS IN MAX? LOL)
First of all, thank you for your answer.
I'm using full-brightness all the time. I do have darky rom, your voodoo suggest is very interesting, I'll check it. But any way I'm pretty sure that it's not the problem. He's using the same rom I used a few days ago (DamianGTO) and still he had better colors when I used it.
I have pictures of the two phones but I can't upload them to the forum because I'm new.. I'll upload them after I'll get the permission.

SGS has two kind. the Super AMOLED and the Super Clear LCD. the amoled has brighter color compare to the clear LCD, and cost higher than the super clear LCD.
the super clear lcd is just like the iphone4's retina display

Same here, My SGS from is one year old and I just got my girlfriend a brand new SGS, hers is stunishing bright and crips, mine looks decolored next to hers.
This is "normal" behaviour on AMOLED screens, they bright so much that they deteriorate in time, you must have noticed some burning in your screen, specially in the clock area when having an all white screen. Our screens are just simply more burnt, that's why don't look so bright as a new phone
Well, as I said, my brother's older I9000 had better colors, so it's not about the age of the phone. Any way, I flashed a kernel that supports the voodoo colors change, and I changed the colors. Now the screen's colors are way better, and even better than my friend's I9000... So it's all about the colors settings. Now I'm happy with my screen
Hey,
I've got the Samsung Galaxy S (classic version, distributed to Europe) just like my brother or my friend. When I look at my and at someone else's SGS, I can clearly see the quality difference of the displays. My phone looks much better, the colors are more natural. We're using the same fresh ROM, even the same kernel, and everything. Can someone tell me how it is possible? Did Samsung released more "versions" of i9000s with improved displays or something like that?
Thank you.
They didn't release 'new' versions, its just some are wierd. My friends i9000 has a pixelated and washed out display. Just happens i guess. I got a good one, its going strong like yours.
With mine being a couple years old the screen has a nasty green tint to it, or I should say used to, until I ran the colour calibration. Looks perfect with a little tweak. Big tweak actually
GT-I9000 / SEMA / SLIMBEAN2.3
AMOLED Displays lose brightness and colour over time. I really noticed it when my display was replaced by Samsung. Now the colours are bright again.

Hi guys i had a Galaxy S2 but i made a bad decision and changed for a motorola photon and some cash. Now i really really hate this motorola with its pentile screen, i hate this phone every time i need to check it to answer a call or read a fb update.
I want to buy this HTC vivid phone cause it is kind of cheap on my country (cheaper than GS2) . I don't have money for a GS3 or a HTC one x cause both cost around 800 USD here .
Basically what i loved of my S2 was the amoled screen and the easy root process cause i need proxy droid to get wireless conection on my job.
So i'm just looking this features on the vivid. am i going to find them?
Thanks in advance
Edit: i know that HTC vivid does not have AMOLED screen, i´m talking about screen quality. am i going to find a similar quality of pictures and video? I don't want another crap screen like the motorola pentile :'( .
Thank you so much guys

Hi I have an international version unlocked of the HTC One and was very happy with it, thing is I just bought a new one from my carrier in chile thing is:
Screen has like a yellow tint that the old one did not have I will post a picture where both are set in the maximum brightness. The problem is I send it to my carrier so they gave me a new one but it has the same issue. Is it that HTC is designing some of the one's with worse quality screens, I am pretty disappointed with this.
Second thing is even more strange, I had no problem transferring my S3 content to my "old" One, but in the new one when I go to the transfer content menu on settings, it sends me directly to the "others" categories so I cant choose all models just windows phone, blackberry or older phones. Not letting me transfer the data from my old one to the new one. I cant choose iPhone or newer android phones.

There is no issue with your screen, read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202869
Shoddy replacement parts?
I disagree. I just received a replacement HTC One due to the camera losing auto focus and the purple tint problem. The replacement phone (from Verizon) has a slightly yellowish (or as some call it "warmer") display than my original phone. Verizon sent me another replacement and it had the same problem. It sounds like someone is trying to pass off cheaper LCD's now that the phone has been out awhile.

There is nothing to agree or disagree here (no disrespect). The fact is that HTC uses lcd from different manufacturers or different batches. Thats why some displays are warmer than others.
