My Galaxy Note GT-N7000 was on CM10 last night and I followed Zedomax's rootgalaxynote.com GT-N7000 unrooting method and when I was installing the Mobile Odin Lite on my phone, it said it needs to download more add-on to be able to flash it, then all the sudden my internet connection was down, so I couldn't download it, but followed his instruction and tried wipe and factory reset, but it got stuck at formatting (no progress), then I flashed cm9 again, but it was stuck at cm9 boot logo, nothing else. Then I followed Zedomax's rootgalaxynote.com's first method using my Computer Desktop but

the ever GOLDEN RULE: Don't ever ever attempt to WIPE data if your on a unsafe or on a stock ICS kernel. That's should be at the top of your list before you do anything on your phone. If you need to WIPE, make sure your already in a safe kernel or if you haven't still, then flash one.
Now going back on your perennial issue. The only thing you can and will do is FLASH a stock GB on download mode using PC ODIN. Yes Doc Ketan's thread/s have those old GB's ROM.. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997, follow it to a tee.
One added thing when your going to start to flash GB again... Pray, that it would not stuck back again at 'factoryfs.img'
Good luck bud!

I spent two days straight working on it, but no luck. I think I am gonna contact Samsung and send it to them for the warranty and I don't know if they would know that I rooted it. But I am just gonna give a try. Please share your knowledge and thoughts. Thank you.
Reflash it with PC odin (Again? )... refer to Dr Ketan... I encounter same issues before, I just try try to reflash old GB... link at #4

Can you get the Note into Download mode?
If so, try using desktop Odin (latest desktop version not mobile version) and flash the Abyss 4.2 kernel. the Tar file is easily found on XDA. This is a GB kernel and should allow you to get into full Recovery. From there you can flash a new ROM as you are now on a safe kernel.
Tried that, but not sure about the latest desktop version.

Hi, thank you for your message, I was on Abyskernel when I factory data reset, and tried to flash back to cm9 from cm10, but no luck. Then I used Odin3-v1.85 on desktop with Gingerbread Rom, it got stuck at factoryfs.img.. I have tried with different pc disabling firewall and anti virus. What is the latest desktop version of Odin that you know? What specific tar file do you know that is the best? Thank you again.

your CM10 to CM9 downgrade sounds like a bad flash, it can happen. I would try Odin3 V3.05 with Abyss (search for "AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar" or go here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/yoe791qq3atbung/AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar).
this should allow you to install a safe kernel to flash from. if you can now access Recovery, then you can flash a ROM from there. I would use a Stock based one (I always recommend Chrack ROM or Criskelo), If you prefer, you can download a Stock tar file and use Odin but I would try downloading the latest Chrack ROM or Criskelo ROM, transferring it to your micro SD and flashing after you have installed the Abyss tar.
I hope this helps. Please hit Thanks if it did.

You gave me the AbyssNotekernel, but the only thing my phone can now do when I turn on is either show a screen with "Firmware upgrade encounters an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" or on download mode. Or is there any way I can use the Desktop Odin and try to install the AbyssNotekernel that you gave me? I really don't know bro. Thank you for the message, please let me know.

Yes, the Abyss tar file is for use with Odin. install Odin on your PC, put the Note into Download and connect. Flash the tar file and wait for the Note to reboot (search for notes on how to flash with Odin if you're not 100% sure). you should now be able to use Recovery to flash a ROM from this safe kernel.
Just a quick question.

.tar file is to be flashed with odin directly. It has an image inside and should not extract it. Should put the .tar file in one folder but not on desktop screen. Select pda box in odin and brow to the folder where you put .tar file. Should see it there.
BTW, if flash using CWM failed again, then should use hg42 scanner to check if there is partition damage.

What do you think I can do bro? Please let me know about it. Thank you.

It seem to show you have an emmc brick, although using the partition scanner will confirm. The options are to send to ss service for warranty or to revise using repartition. For warranty you will need to reset flash counter using a jig.

Hi bro,
I flashed the Abysskernel again and it went to Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 logo with big Triangle at the bottom and it then goes to Android system recovery <3e>, then it looks like there is no option for me to access the SD card, but its own 16GB storage it came with and that one has CM10 in it. Tried to flash that, but it says "E:failed to verify whole-file signature". If I attempt to claim for warranty will Samsung know that I rooted it after clearing the binary counts? Please let me know. Thank you for your instructions. If there is anything else you want me to try out, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello,
I have a friend with a Non-Rooted, totally stock Galaxy Ace s5830M that's stuck on a boot loop. He was playing a game and the screen started flashing and it rebooted. It is now stuck in a boot loop.
I've been able to get in to Stock Recovery and in to Download mode without issues.
We tried to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery. It apparently succeeds , but when we reboot it does not "stick". Flash CWM,reboot and it just shows the Stock recovery menu. I found this thread, regarding this issue.. But this phone is completely stock, bought on Amazon and shipped to Venezuela. I think it was running Gingerbread.
We then tried to flash to a Stock Firmware from my country from Sammobile.com with Odin.
Once a single file recovery ( a large file with a md5.tar extension) and it fails:

Factory reset ur phone from recovery & wipe cache. Also, U need to place the individual firmware files at correct fields in odin (hope U did that) otherwise ur phone'll not be able to boot properly.
As far as I know there are four files (BOOT, PHONE, PDA, CSC) in full package & only one file (of extension:- tar.md5) in One Package firmware...

The S5830i, S5830C, S5830M and S5839i are the same aka cooperve.
The only difference is the region, this version of Odin works with S5830M too!
Anyway, this rom you flashed is from Brazil, and works with your phone too. Try a wipe data/factory reset on recovery, this maybe works.
You should have a look at S5830i Development and S5830i General, there you will find more answers about your phone.

Hi Rafael. OK, I have made a detailed how to in Taringa that specifies the way to install a Stock ROM for SGA GT-S5830M. Just search in google "tutorial flashear samsung galaxy ace 5830m con odin - Taringa!" (without quotation marks) and enter the first result, it would redirect you to my post, check that the name of the creator is "jhonaff", if so, just download the files from there, and flash them via Odin 1.85 or 1.87. In the post there is a link to download the version 1.85, this version of Odin is the one that works perfectly with this device. Following that steps I gave life again to my SGA 5830M.
After you download, unzip the files in the S5830M.rar archive, you will get three .tar.md5 files; now put the files in the following order in Odin:
BOOTLOADER -> leave this section empty.
PDA -> select the PDA file.
PHONE -> select the MODEM file.
CSC -> select the CSC file.
Now click Start button and wait for the process to finish; at the end of the process the phone will reboot in recovery automatically and it will run a script, don't unplug it, and don't do anything yet. The phone will reboot once more and now it will pass the Samsung logo and will show you the Samsung bootanimation. Now you can unplug it and wait, the first boot may take 1 or 2 minutes and you will get your phone alive again.
PD: I can't give you a link to my post cause I'm new in this site and I don't have 2 posts here, so I can't post links in my replies.
PD2: My post in Taringa is in Spanish, I think it is understandable, but if not, use a traductor, after all you just want to download the correct files.
I hope this can help you. I speak spanish and has been years from the last time I spoke in English, so forgive me if something is wrote incorrectly.
Thank you jhonaff2

It basicially got stuck at Odin while trying to update to Jelly Bean, then I took out the battery & now keeps appearing "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
Also can't factory reset as well as it to detect at Kies. Only place I can access is Odin currently.
This what happens every time in Odin both before & now.

you may have to repartition.. read this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886
stuck at factoryfs.img is a symptom of emmc brick..
your phone might encountered lock up some sectors on your internal storage.. so repartitioning might be a consideration..
Okay, so far I've flashed a eMMC Safe Kernel via Odin and now able to go to recovery mode.
It now shows model number display with the yellow triangle sign showing & can't go further than that.
Any idea what to do next?

If it Driver problem PC Odin will not detect you phone...
now you can go to stock recovery or what?...try flash Philz kernel using PC Odin.. if done, boot to recovery and flash any custom Rom...if no luck i'm sure your phone already hard brick/super bricked....
check out this method to revive bricked phone...PIT file method to revive your phone from a MMC_CAP_ERASE brick
Now you have safe kernel then boot into recovery do all the wipes and then boot into download mode and then try flashing the rom from pc odin

It seems that the only thing that is stopping me from getting a full recovery is now the eMMC...working on it atm.

Hey guys,
I've been working with IzoKuro in trying to figure out how to sort out this phone, We have sorted out everything as Izo has said but now as he has said we are having trouble flashing the custom rom I've tried to do it via recovery mode and it comes up with this:
E:Error in /emmc/CUSTOM ROM.zip
(Status:7)
Installation aborted.
Click to collapse
I've tried it with a stock ROM as well and that isn't any better.
For that it comes up with:
E:Can't open /emmc/CUSTOM ROM.zip
(Bad)
Installation aborted.

So can someone let me know what option on PC Odin that we have to use to flash that rom.
Thanks,
Nippon
What recovery?..stock or what?..give more detail..
What kernel do you flash before?
What custom rom that you try to flash on recovery?
How many time you flash on PC Odin and stuck on factoryfs.img?
What rom your on before you flash using Odin in the 1st place?
Did you make a wipe on stock ICS kernel/recovery?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk HD
It's possible that the zip you have downloaded is bad so download a fresh new copy and as you said you want flash a custom rom! Is that rom a cyanogen based rom? If yes then download cm kernel and flash it in recovery then install the custom rom

Hello all,
I read now the warning post and I understand now that probably I shouldn't have done it (so please be gentle ).. however maybe someone can still help me with my situation:
I've rooted my Galaxy Note with ClockworkMod recovery successfully and then busybox.
Then I went to recovery mode again (after restarting the phone), however it loaded Android regular recovery mode (not Clockwork), so I installed Clockwork again and without restarting performed WIPE DATA (maybe that was also a mistake?). After it was finished it restarted by itself and now its in the following status:
- stucks at GALAXY NOTE N7000 logo. Sometimes blinks, but never goes beyond it.
- Recovery mode exactly same - stuck at logo.
- when plugging USB it will show the battery, but it's like stuck then.
- Tried download mode, but it's stuck at Downloading... forever.
I couldn't find the exact case as mine, that it restarted by itself and stuck at logo now.
I backed up everything, the previous ROM and etc.
I am aware of the bricking bug of ICS, however I had the ClockworkMod installed, so what did I do wrong??
And most importantly, what should I do now? Can I do something via the download mode? I don't think Odin recognizes any connected device when I plug in the USB, but I don't know how to check if it does or not..
Thanks in advance!
Switch to download mode, connect to PC and install a stock JB (be sure to install the USB drivers before).
Make a snapshot of the errors an post it here.

I don't understand this.. my stock ROM was:
Baseband Version: N7000XXLB2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLC1-CL1003701 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXLC1
I don't know what coutnry, I bought it from Netherlands, I live in Belgium, but it could be from any country in the region!
I cannot find this one exactly. I find many with N7000XXLB2 and many with N7000XXLC1.
Which one should I choose?
Also, can I install a JB or ICS directly?
Please let me know I'm doing it right (cause this is getting really insanely ridicilous):
1. I install PhilZ recovery mode via the phone recovery mode.
2. I install a stock ROM (I tried many) via Odin download mode.
All the time stuck as Galaxy N7000 logo. Never goes past it.
Every time I install a stock ROM it also removes the Philz recevory mode, but maybe that's ok..
Anything I'm doing wrong??
Why don't you follow my advice from second post and then show us a snapshot of PC Odin.
No need for Philz when installing a stock Rom with PC Odin (it's always deleted).
And tell us what Rom you install.

So I don't wipe anything and just go to download mode and install a PDA file of a STOCK ROM, that's it?
I tried that, but now I will be more specific (and in another guide they say to do some steps before, so its very confusing already).
I also asked above how do I know which ROM I should install?
and also, how do I get errors log? there were no errors when I was installing the PDA..

No going into recovery mode after restart this time and still same problem.
when you flash a stock rom with pc odin, the phone may not boot. If you have flashed a GB rom then when you are stuck at logo enter stock recovery with three button combo and then wipe data factory reset, wipe cache and then reboot.
I flashed a stock rom as explained above, not a GB. I tried wiping cache and all data through recovery. Nothing helps. You say it might not boot, so how do I make it boot with Stock ROM?
stock roms can be ginger bread (GB), or ICS or JB (jelly Bean)
flash a GB stock rom, wait for the proceedure to finish completely, when you see its not booting then use three buttons to get into stock recovery and then wipe then reboot

By "ClockworkMod" you mean CWM.zip right? This is a temporary recovery that disappears upon reboot. It also LETHAL to wipe with when running on top of a stock ICS kernel.
So to sum up;-
You were running Stock ICS.
You flashed CWM.zip (from YouTube or where ever) from stock 3e recovery and then flashed Root/busybox file.
Booted back into stock recovery, flashed CWM.zip again and performed wipe data/factory reset with it.
How am I going so far?
Bad news - you have most likely superbricked your device.
If so,new MOBO or repartition is only way out now
it might be mess up.. try get 5files wif bootloader n place it accordingly in odin .

Yep, emmc bricked. Send it to servicecenter, they repaired it for free, for me. Or you can do the workaround http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667886 , but i dont would do that, as you will get many freezes maybe. Thats very annoying.

Hi,
I have rooted my galaxy n7000 running on stock 4.1.2 DDLSC using the supersu. After root tried to install the cmw custom recovery but failed then tried to flash/install the philz custom recovery and its also failed. I have tried following options.
1. downloaded the .zip version of philz and tried to flash it using stock recovery "Update from external storage". When it was updating suddenly phone was getting turned off. Tried two to three times.
2. Also tried the ODIN v1.85 and v3+. downloaded the tar.md5 file matching to n7000, and when tried to flash it using ODIN two times it got struck at "SetupConnection: and 2 to 3 times it got failed. saying

wanted to install the lollipop or kitkat.
Please guide me how to install philz or cmw recovery.
What am I doing wrong, why the philz is not getting flash using ODIN or stock recovery.
I have also tried the "flashify" app. and when flashing philz recovery its saying "Partition flashed successfully" but when going to recovery mode there I find stock recovery. Nothing is working.
you need to flash a custom kernel which includes the recovery. as far as i know it is not possible to flash recovery only with keeping stock kernel. philz provided several kernels for N7000 with appropriate recovery for many different android versions.

Get a philz kernel that matches your ROM build number. In your case its ddlsc. If you don't find that xxlta will also do.
I understand that need to download the kernal. just to confirm is it "Signed" .zip file of philz?
Last time I was rooted with the philz signed .zip file. Root was successfull but recovery was still stock. and when I flash the recovery using CWM App. my phone bricked. it was struck at samsung logo. Some how I flashed the stock rom and my note got a life.
Now this time I am scared to do the same. But still will give a try.
Right now my phone is rooted with supersu. To flash the philz kernal with recovery, Do i have to unroot first and then flash? Or I can flash without unrooting?
Thanks for suppoting. XDA is the good place for anyking of troublesooting and memebers here are best in supporting.
Can you please provide the url from where to download the philz kernal.
You can use the zip or tar file. Zip is preferred. You don't need to unroot.
Thanks you so much. was able to successful install the philz recovery
My phone is bricked due to my friend mistake. As per your suggestion I have downloaded the philz kernel. flashed it and philz recovery was installed. I was so happy, My friend asked to see the phone and I gave him. In my phone the "ClockWorkMod app" was installed from google play. My friend asked me whether he can backup the data or not. I said ok do it. He open the "ClockWorkMode app" and went to backup and clicked on it. it asked for the name of the backup. He have given the name and clicked on the ok button. Suddently phone got turned off and was struck at "Galaxy Note GT N7000" boot screen. I tried to do the power off using power button but again it was getting turned on automatically and getting struck at boot screen. Taken the battery out.
tried to go into recovery mode but was not able to go there. Only download mode is working. I flash the "Philz recovery" using ODIN.
and when reboot the phone got struck at same boot screen with an additional yellow triangle.
Can it be re-cover or it is hard brick? Please suggest something. I have downloaded the stock DDLC tar file from sammobile site. Do I need the partition .pit file? I tried to find out the partition .pit file for 16gb version but all links are broken.
Help me please.

Ouch, try reflashing everything according to the previous instructions again. Remember to clear cache and do a factory reset after that, the Rom Manager aka ClockWorkMode app is kinda useless..
Back to life,
After bricking my phone I was in so much stress. Was thinking all the possible way like re-partition csc etc... then suddenly thought why not flashing the stock rom which is downloaded. Puts the phone in download mode. open the ODIN 1.85 connected the phone with pc and selected the stock DDLSC tar md5 file, taken a deep breath and remembered all the gods and clicked on the start button.
flashing started within 10 min it finished and phone re-booted. back to stock rom without loosing any kind of data. To my surprise all the app which was moved to external card was automatically detected and checked the sd phone memory and all my personal file and data with contacts and messages was available. Once again many many thanks to XDA and all of you.
Again rooted the phone with Philz kernel. LOL.
Can you please help me. How to do nandroid backup and whether it can be flash by ODIN or not.
Make a nandroid backup by booting into recovery and choosing backup. Or use an app like zipinstaller.
No odin cannot flash a nandroid backup. It has to be restored using recovery only.
