Is anyone switching between the Note and an ATT LTE phone? I deleted the APN's that were there and added the same ones from the Note. I'm not in an LTE area anyways. Will this work? Will ATT recognize my device and do some kind of provisioning that might mess things up when I go back to the Note? All is good once I put the correct APN in. I just wonder if ATT will provision it and then it not work because it's looking for that 4g LTE plan APN.
Those with the HTC One developer edition, did you let the SIM card auto-populate your APN settings on the device or did you manually copy the APN settings from an AT&T version of the phone? Does anyone know if the SIM auto-populates the same info as the AT&T version? I remember when I bought the Galaxy Nexus I had to manually input the correct APN settings so wasn't sure if I have to do the same for this device.
Also, does it matter what data plan you are on with AT&T as long as your last device was an LTE device (ie: are there multiple types of LTE data plans on their network or are they all the same aside form the data allowance)? Thanks.
this should be in the q&a section and if your last phone was on a lte plan thent he new phone should be ok
Okay mods feel free to move it.
So does that mean just pop in the SIM and the correct APN settings will all automatically populate? Even MMS settings?
That was the case for me. Put the SIM in selected att and was done. Everything works.

Noticed on the AT&T version the max MMS size is 1,000 kb while on my dev unit it maxes out at 300 kb. Any way to get this up to the same as the AT&T version?

No. I created a thread about this. It's a software limitation in the Dev version of the messaging app. No way to change that short of flashing a different version of the app. Not sure why it's so low.
My previous device was not a 4G LTE supported phone. The auto-populate APN settings does not work for me. So I guess it does matter what data plan you have. Do I have to change data plan with AT&T? Can anyone confirm? Thanks!
Yes you have to have a 4G/LTE data plan. Had your previous phone already been on such a plan, simply transferring the microSIM would have worked. It did for me.

"I called ATT..." GSM...
Have you checked the APN settings. Mine was unlocked when I got it and it just worked. When I downgraded though it wouldn't connect I went in and checked the APN settings and it had lost Tmobile's APN settings. I just re added them and reset and it worked. Hope this help

T-Mobile APN updated automatically. i said that in my original post. i believe my AHD is on ICS 4.0.4 is there an update above this that may be causing the issue? like i said, it is unlocked with ATT Sim Lock code but will not receive service except for Emergency Calls only. when the T-Mobile sim is inserted the network bars disappear but the APN updates
It looks like the phone is successfully unlocked.
You can double check the APN settings against the ones recommended by T-Mobile or even create a custom APN with these settings.
Is the SIM card activated? Does it get signal on another phone? If you use the Phone Info app or any other app that lets you in the hidden testing menu, can you check if you get signal if you change the preferred network type to GSM only or to WCDMA only? WARNING: Do not change the radio band.
FYI I'm on T-Mobile with ICS 4.0.4 and I've got signal in multiple places in the US and roaming overseas.

Needing some help. Purchased an "unlocked" Nexus 6 from eBay. I had an error that said phone iccid compare with sim iccid error. I setup the correct APN and still got no service. I restarted the phone and that little Android notification is now gone but I still have no service.
When I go to Cellular Networks I can no longer have an option to search for cellular providers nor input an APN just Preferred Network Type and System Select.
Can anyone help!?

What carrier? Have you contacted them to activate your phone?

I am with a tiny local GSM carrier Union Wireless in Wyoming. I have generally just swapped SIM cards in and out of other phones before. I have never had to call and activate a phone before. I am coming from an unlocked HTC One M8.
@metaphz you may have to contact them. Unless someone else can offer a suggestion, I'm at a loss. I don't think the data dialer reset code will work on non Sprint phones or else I might suggest that.

I'm at a loss here too. I put in another GSM SIM card from Viaero Wireless in Nebraska and it worked for roaming. When I put in my Union SIM it takes away my APN options and acts like it is a CDMA SIM card.

In settings>more>cellular networks, have you set the preferred network to global?
So, I bought the Z3C D5803 online (amazon) a while ago in the US. Unlocked, international version.
I don't get any LTE signal, although I have all bands necessary for T-Mobile LTE, except band 12. But this is no reason for it not to work. I only get 3G/H/H+. The APN settings are all OK, according to the T-Mobile tech support.
Since it's a corporate SIM, I can't handle things directly. The service (and SIM) HAS a LTE data plan, since it was being used in a different phone, provided by T-Mobile, and I had 4G. An IT employee called them and they told him that my phone is compatible, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will wotk with T-Mobile (wtf does that even mean?). Like, my phone has all the bands necessary, but they could be closed (is that even possible?).
What I think is happening is that the SIM was registered with the previous phone's IMEI, and since my new phone has a different IMEI, T-Mobile is blocking LTE connection. Or my xperia IMEI is not registered as a LTE phone.
This is definitely not a hardware problem.
One thing worth mentioning. Before using this phone in the US, I traveled to Brazil and used my SIM card from there. LTE worked flawlessly, athough it uses different bands. The APN settings updated automatically.
So, what gives?
I have same model number and I'm on t-mobile.lte works for me what is your apn settings

First, my preferred network type is: LTE(preferred), WCDMA/GSM
Then, my APN settings are (downloaded automatically after I inserted the SIM):
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Autentication type: none
APN type: default,supl,a-gps,mms
APN protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: checked (grayed out)
Bearer: unspecified
MVNO type: none
MVNO value: not set (grayed out)
I don't have the phone in front of me, so I can't confirm the APN settings, but my wife's D5803 gets LTE on T-Mobile USA.
Same settings as me I'm not to sure the issue

Well, that is unfortunate. I don't belive that is possible for your D5803 to work while mine doesn't, which was what the employee from T-Mobile tried to say. I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card/ IMEI.

The SIM card is tied to the IMEI? Are you sure? I move my T-Mobile SIM from phone to phone (Z3C, Nexus 5, HTC One M8) with no problem getting LTE.

I don't think so. I think that the problem is with the SIM card or something to do about it being registered to the phone previously being used.
So it happens that I have another T-Mobile SIM card (a pre paid one, which is my personal number)and I tried it on my phone. To my amusement and frustration, I got LTE signal. So, what could T-Mobile be doing with my work line that I'm not getting LTE?
I believe it's a carrier issue with the SIM card
I had the same problem when I first got my Nexus 5 a while back. It turns out all I needed was a new SIM card, so that is most likely the culprit. It sucks that you'll have to jump through hoops to get a new SIM though.
Try setting your APN protocol: to IPv4

No dice.
I think it's a problem with the SIM card. Now, what I don't know is:
If the problem is with the SIM card only
If the problem is with the SIM card and IMEI (4G registered to work only with the previous T-Mobile phone)

T-mobile US doesn't register the IMEI to the SIM, so I doubt it's that. Could be a defective SIM I suppose, or maybe LTE isn't enabled on the phone for some reason. First thing I'd do is go to a store and have them switch out the SIM for a new one.

LTE is enabled, and when I switch the current SIM for the other pre-paid I have from T-Mobile, I get LTE signal. So, maybe that indicates without a doubt that the problem is the SIM card?
It's really likely then that it's the SIM since the other one works. Go to a T-mobile store and they'll probably give you another one for free since that one isn't working. LTE isn't something T-mobile charges more for, so you should get it if the network is available.
