Cyanogen 7.2 can't detect my home WiFi - LG Optimus 2x

You know, it would be different issue if it didn't saw any WiFi, but no, it's just not detecting my own network which I use for submitting this message (also WiFi) with laptop...
I can go out and connect through WiFi hotspots, but here at home, it won't even list it...
Any idea on this issue, beside that, this is my first custom ROM and everything else seems to run just fine...

Maybe your wifi using channel 13 or 14 and some of these channels are forbidden in some countries, and since cm 7.2 is a multicountry rom maybe the developers of cm left out the support from the rom for these channels
You could try to change your router's wifi settings. Change the wifi channel to 6 or 8.
You can enlarge the wifi channel range on your phone as well, bit i dont know how.
EDIT: This wikipedia page explains more correctly what I am talking about

wifi connecting problems

Hey, i have a major problem with my kaiser.. the wifi can be turned on and it recives some signals (cuz wififofum2 shows hosts at map) but when i open the Wi-Fi menu it cant see any host.. i had M650 before and the wifi worked perfectly, now im using the same configuration as with M650 and it doesnt.. im also almost sure that it isnt the case of my host... i have original WM 6.0 without any changes, andi hope someone will help me ^^'
thx in advance
Have you adjusted the power options so that they are set for best performance?
yes it is best performance
edit: and whats weird is that i dont dont see any other hosts at the wifi menu :/ when before with M650 i had couples that i could connect too
and is that possible to change channel cuz as I see my host is at channel 9 and when i go to the wireless comuniacation menu i see channel 11 could that be the case?
i have same problem.wifi doesnt work at channel 11.but it is ok at channel 6.
I have also a wi-fi connection problem. I use ARHD 6.2.1 XE ROM for my HTC Sendation 4G. However, I cannot connect to wi-fi networks with enterprise security. So, do you experience the same problem? What is the solution?

Suspected WiFi issue between rev_10 and rev_11

I think I may have found a difference between hardware rev_10 and rev_11, and I'd like to ask for some help in either proving or disproving my theory.
I have two rev_10 N4s here, and I've noticed both do not see and cannot connect to WiFi networks operating on channels 12 and 13.
I mentioned this to someone a different forum, and after exchanging a few posts and screenshots it became clear that his N4, a rev_11 device, was able to connect to networks on channels 12 and 13.
So the question I'm asking is: Which hardware version do you have, and can you see and connect to WiFi networks on channels 12 and 13?
The only thing I'd point out when testing is to make sure the network is only operating on one channel as it will likely still pick up two-channel networks on the other channel.
Thanks in advance.
My Nexus is rev_10 and can connect to my wifi router in channel 13 without problems.
I had a problem at the begining because my SSID was hidden and I need to unhide it in order to connect. But I solve it with a market program called "Hidden SSID Enabler" that allow me to connect to my hidden SSID again without unhide it first. But I use always channel 13.
i had some issues with it yesterday.. that suddenly wifi vanished off my nexus but was working on my gtab10.1
is this anything to do with the wifi issue u mentioned here

I connected to my hidden network without any issues... You just have to "add" the hidden network. Also r10 here.

It might be a regulatory issue and this isn't uncommon. For some reason the Rev 10 phones may think they are in a different country, and are in a country which is forbidden to use bands 12 and 13. Do these phones have SIM cards? It might be the SIM card/network that the phone uses to confirm the country for radio connections.
I've a rev 10 and I am on band 13 no problem.
Regards
Phil
I kind of suspect this too.. WiFi reception is pretty weak compared to my s2 running cm 10.1 on the same location in my apartment. But doesn't really matter...

I have a nexus 7 and a rev 10 nexus 4. They both work fine on Wi-Fi. What do you mean that the nexus 4 isn't working well compared top the other device? Are you just going by the meter?

Hi mate I have the same problem than you. My nexus 4 rev11 cant connect with a wifi network in channel 13. And my old Htc Desire works fine.
I've had this exact issue with my N4 I received last week. Mine did actually work but only if I left it alone for several hours. Once ti connected, it worked well and was stable. If I restarted my WiFi or restarted my phone, the problem is back unless I wait several hours!
Then yesterday, I changed my wireless channel from 13 to 8 and voila, instantaneous connections much faster than my iPhone 4. It seems like the wireless receiver in the N4 is of a lower quality compared to other phones.

Relax dude. No WiFi hardware change from rev_10 to rev_11.
How do I check what rev I'm on?
I've got a Rev_10, no wifi issues at all with my phone. In fact, it gets better signal than my plastic backed Asus Transformer, and my old S2.
We need more people with rev11 to try the bug please try it!!
Put your wifi AP in channel 13 and try to connect the nexus to the network,
Edit: Same problem with channel 12 seems that all the Nexus have the USA wifi policy
Well I think it that apart from policies nexus has software issues related to WiFi just like BT.Its simple we are bug testers for 4.2.1

Maybe someone can try following this thread. It was for the Icona A500, but it looks like all they're doing is changing wifi_country_code to EU in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Yesterday I get the 4.2.2 OTA and now I can connect with the wifi channels 12 & 13.
How do I find out what revision I'm on?
I've been having some problems too with my Channel 13 wifi. My regulatory area was set to Europe (there was no narrower option), and I assure you it's more than legal to use Channel 12 and 13 in my area.
My Nexus 4 kept dropping off the network, and when it did so, the SSID would disappear from my phone's list. My desktop, which was less than a meter away, was still working fine. I had to restart the phone's wifi each time this happened.
I figured it was my ISP's router being dumb at DHCP (the phone's IP was assigned in that way) so I replaced the ISP's router with one of my DD-WRT routers so that I could better log the issue. Still had the problem. At first I wanted to start logging what was happening, but then I remembered the oddity about my network being on Channel 13.
I switched it to Channel 1, all problems were solved.
How do I find out what revision I'm on? I'm currently on CM10.1.0 RC1, which is supposed to be based upon Android 4.2.2.
Stock 4.2.2 here, 306K device (Rev_11) - managed to see & connect to Channel 12/13 only if switched the frequency from "Auto" to "2.4Ghz only" (or from "2.4Ghz only" to "Auto") in WiFi advanced options menu.
It amazes me how Google let us wait for months with these broken wifi/bt drivers. Hopefully 4.3 will fix these.

Wifi connecting... saved... obtaining ip address... saved

I'm wondering if anyone running either cm 10 or Pac roms is having issues after a few weeks, of wifi attempting to connect then saying saved and doing that over and over again and not connecting. I know other people not necessarily using this phone have had this issue before but, I can't seem to find any solutions to the problem. I am currently running Pac all in one Rom and it was working great until today but, I have had these issues on cm 10 before and the only thing that seems to fix is to flash a new Rom and I like this one and don't want to re-flash.

I've been having this issue as well, again and again.. I've had about a 50/50 success rate with dirty flashing. Anyway, I believe the problem has something to do with the dhcp assigned ip addresses from the router. It's something on the phone side of it because changing dhcp settings, lease times etc., on the router have no effect. When you lose WiFi and it goes into that loop and won't connect, go into WiFi settings, and forget your network. Then select your network again and enable the advanced settings. Change from dhcp to static and then assign yourself a local IP. I have a Linksys router so I entered 192.168.1.8 . so I believe a netgear router would be 192.168.2.?? , the ?? or 8 being whatever is unused on your network. If you haven't already, enter your password and connect. I connected immediately after that. I understand this isn't really a "fix" because won't help you when trying to connect to networks that you can't assign your own IP, like say Starbucks or somewhere.. But hopefully this may point someone who knows more about this stuff in the right direction to actually fix whatever is off in the phone. Drivers maybe? Hope this helps!

Thank you for the explanation I tried a dirty flash and that solves it for about 12 hours. I am getting faster at flashing and restoring everything and am now flashing a new Rom every couple of days so it's not that big of a deal I'll just take it as a sign I should try a new Rom I'm now running the unofficial aokp Rom and I'm liking it next time it happens I'll just try another. Thanks for all the help glad to know the issue isn't because I've done something wrong.

Is there anyway to fix this issue yet?
@TTLayland said exactly what I'd say...static IP. I'll add the the Devs are working on updated WiFi drivers for the kernel. When that's ready hopefully that'll work for ya'll. I haven't had any WiFi issues for the past few weeks. Connected to my House, McD's, and the hospital.
Post the actual make & model of your router and I/we'll see what can be found for it.
Also, try setting the phone to 2.4 Ghz only...my old router was 2.4ghz and the auto setting would randomly kick me. New router broadcasts in both 5ghz and 2.4ghz, I connect to the 5ghz one and use auto without issue.

Ok, I didn't realize Devs were working on it. I have statics set for my home, but being a Network Admin I travel to many different networks and because of the way our network transverses settinig an ip is not an option as the same SSID is used for about 95 different sites. So DHCP is a must.
I just thought it was strange that the Carbon rom I am using was working for about 2 weeks correctly then stopped connecting, sometimes a reboot will get it to connect.
Thanks.

WiFi Problems, help!

So for about a week now, I've been having horrendous wifi issues on my device running CM 10.1 nightlies. My problem being that my phone will remain connected to wifi but no actual connection is present. It's very sporadic and highly annoying. After the problem occcurs, it still says i am connected but i can't actually access the internet.. Temporarily disabling wifi and re enabling fixes it for a couple minutes then it happens again. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue as i can use my school wifi for an entire day without disconnects or anything but i can't get mine to work. I've tried carbon rom, diff nightlies, clear data+ cache but nothing works. This also happened on an xperia running CM (my dads). Any solution??

So the issue is on the router side, do you have a dual band router? if so make sure 5ghz is up and running. If you have a single band router thats capable of 5ghz, make sure all you wireless devices are capable of 5ghz freqency and if so switch it over.
Also Ive fixed this/ or similar issues on networks by disabling QoS in the router settings, id recommend disabling it and see if it helps

The strange thing is I haven't changed any router settings at all and before last week I've had absolutely no issues with wifi. Now it seems I can't keep a connection for more than a couple minutes max. Also, sometimes (not always) I'll try connecting to a different router or access point and it'll connect and the next second it'll instantly disconnect. I'll try your suggestion and hope it works

Constantly having to reset WIFI - Hardware issue?

I thought this was a CM 10.2 problem so I reverted back to 10.1 final and am having the same issue. My Nook will display that it's connected to wifi but when I try to load anything I get nothing. The only way to solve it seems to be to turn wifi off and then on. When I let it sit for a while and come back to it I have to do the reset again. Is there something wrong with my hardware or is this a common problem? It's happening on two of my Nooks. Thanks.

not sure but ya one of the wifi protocols maybe "N" is a problem if its enabled.
Do a google search for Nook HD+ wifi disconnecting and you'll find which one
you need to disable on your router.
Mine did that as well, so I disabled that one protocol and its been ok
ever since.
Or it's a CM problem. I switched to Carbon and the problem seems to have gone away. Disabling n is not an acceptable solution, at least not to me.

Wifi disconnects
Was there a solution to this? My nook hd+ running CM11, version 11-20140403-NIGHTLY-ovation.
My Wifi disconnects intermittently. For example, I might be connected for 10 minutes, and then it just stops working. I have gotten used to having a terminal open pinging my gateway or AP. Latency is typically 2 to 4 ms, but jumps to 90, then 200, then timeout. I have to toggle Wifi or airplane mode to get it to reconnect.

As far as I know there isn't. I just updated past the April 13th cm11 build (which I thought I did before but didn't *smacks head into wall*) which fixes a wlan bug and am checking to see if that works right now as I have had the issue on two cm11 devices.
However, I noticed my wifi Access Point has been seeing power failures so unsure if that's related at this time.
I'm not sure of it being the router or ap as one device may be working while one won't be so its possible its cm.
It might be possible to use an app like 'wifi fixer' (I think it can do that) to automatically toggle wifi on/off, to fix it as a workaround. Not at that point in testing yet.

I have a similar problem with WiFi on my HD+ running CM 10.2.1, but not exactly the same. In my case, we have two wi-fi access points (i.e., two routers) in the house on different channels. I stay connected 100% on whichever I first connect with. But over time, the HD+ stops scanning, and doesn't see the other router. (Or the neighbors' wi-fis.)
I remembered seeing something about this with CM when I first joined the forum - the solution is to turn wi-fi off and then on. It rescans, and everything is okay again.
I wonder if it has something to do with the "Wi-Fi optimization" option, that "minimizes battery usage on Wi-Fi." But I haven't tried disabling that. Guess I'll do it now and report in a few days if it makes a difference.

Hmm, that is interesting. I have a single router but running two instances, a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz band. Both have the same SSID and pass phrase. I just wanted to make it easier for systems that supported both bands to jump back and forth.
I think I will change the SSID of the 5Ghz band and make them truly separate networks.
Thanks for the feedback.
