Hi there,
I recently backed up my films and images to my computer.
When I looked at my films that I had shot they all appeared corrupt. My first assumption was that they had not transferred across properly via the AirDroid interface. I then tried a USB connection with the same results. Next I bought a new SSD and did a small 10 second test film.
I removed the SSD and pluged it directly into the computer. Sadly its the same result.
I am using an IMac with OS 10.6.8.
The movies just have a massive green screen covering them and don't run. In fact the make the OS do a soft reboot of the desktop!
I have not seen any posts regarding any issues with transferring movies. Is it a Mac thing? I will have to get hold of a PC next - or try VMware.
I will also be contacting LG next.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

I haven't rooted my nook yet, but I have run into a peculiar issue. I plugged it into my computer tonight after work, and instead of seeing it as a nook, I am getting 2 removable drives. When I click on either of the two removable drives, I am asked to insert a disk into the removable drive.
When I open the Adobe Digital Editions software (to put Google Books on my nook), it no longer sees the nook, either.
Any thoughts on why this would happen?
Win7 Pro x64
I have now done a factory reset, data clear, and still unable to see the nook properly. All I get is two removable disks, with no devices inserted, when I plug the nook into either of my computers.
Try inserting an SD card into your NC and see if one of the removable drives stops asking for a drive to be inserted.
I'm assuming the two drives are the internal NC storage and the SD card slot. That's how it shows up on my rooted one. Can't recall what it looked like before root. Next time I reset mine, I'll take a look and check in here.
By chance, do you have an Android Phone device in your Device Mangler?
no, I did not see it.
I was able to resolve the issue, though. I ran through AutoNooter, then did a full reset (after playing around with the rooted version, of course ). After that, it worked just fine. I think it had something to do with the way the VMWare player saw it the first time I had it connected. If I have VMWare running, when I plug the nook in, it shows up as a VMWare Virtual USB device, even though it's not connected to the guest.
Not a big deal, I was able to transfer files/movies/etc. to it earlier today, and that was what I was looking to do.
Hey Folks, I am a noob and stuck. I just got wifey the Dell Streak 7 on black friday special and being that its running Honeycomb, there is no USB driver. I called "Dell" which was a joke and after talking to several people I was told that the drivers wont be out there for several weeks.. (WTF).. I have gone through most of the forums for info but stuck.
I have a laptop running Vista, and my work computer that is running XP and need direction as too what I need to download to get the show on the road. I just want a way for me to access the tablet or SDcard through the USB cord.
I keep seeing references to ADB, and laslow site but those posts are referencing to those running Windows 7, or am I wrong. Any and all help for this lost noob would be gr8.

Ok if you bought it new with Honeycomb on it then you bought the wifi version I assume. Anyway, all Honeycomb devices switched protocols, they are no longer USB Mass Storage devices, they are recognized and media players, so you should see a Portable Media Devide under My Computer if you have the latest version of Windows Media Player on your laptop...
OK, THAT being said, in my personal opinion it's the worst decision Google could've ever made. SO what I do is install a little app called Samba File Sharing, which allows you to connect to the 7 as a network device and have access to it's SD contents just like any other device connect to your computer.
Hope this helps. You have to set up a few parameters like network name and workgroup and such but it only takes about 1 minute and well worth the trouble

Thank you for that tip.
Some devices require MTP, the s7 in this case isnt one of them. The s10 is though.
It's up to the rom maker to decide which one to use to use either MTP or USBMSD, depending on how the internal memory is organized.
Regardless MTP allows you to simultaniously access the device on a pc while using it on the device itself. With USBMSD you can only use it on one or the other.
The S10 has /sdcard as a symlink to /data/media, so you simply cant mount it or you'd unmount the entire /data partition (which would be very bad). The galaxy nexus is the same way, hence it requiring MTP mode.
The S7 has /sdcard as a seperate partition, I'm guessing mainly for the ability to simultaniously access it.
Fastboot+ADB.zip has every driver for every dell device.
So I've been searching for a while, but I haven't really found anything. So far it seems like hardly anyone else actually has this problem, or I'm just a complete idiot. So if this matter has already been resolved, I would be very thankful if you could point me in the right direction.
Whenever I connect my AT&T Samsung Captivate (FireFly 3.0) to my computer (on both my Windows XP Pro and 7 Ultimate partitions), everything is hunky dory and everything runs normal and my phone charges. The instant that I turn on USB Storage in my phone, if I open up "My Computer", it just sits there and the green bar at the top (Windows 7) goes by very slowly until it almost reaches the end, and then just sits there indefinitely. I can't open up any other drives on my computer, including my phone's drive. I also can't eject the phone "safely". I have the drivers installed, and everything SHOULD work. Even if I turn off USB Storage, my computer still won't respond in those aspects, until I unplug the phone from my computer, and then everything just goes back to normal. In Windows XP the same thing happens, there's just no little progress bar telling me that nothing is happening, Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) just freezes and I must unplug the phone and restart the process to get my computer working again. If I plug the phone into my netbook running Ubuntu 10.04, I can open my phone's drives, but transfer speeds are still extremely slow.
I'm thinking it's something with the filesystem, and requires a reformat, but I'm not sure and I want to be entirely sure of it until I attempt pulling everything off of my phone and formatting and rerooting and reflashing FireFly.
If it matters, my computer's hardware is as follows:
AMD FX-4100 @ 4.15Ghz
8GB DDR3-1333 GSkill Ripjaw RAM
Asus GTX 460 768MB
Asus M5A97 Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
Western Digital Green 500GB 5400RPM
Many thanks in advance for your time, I really hope I can get this figured out.

I think it's not a problem with your pc. If so when you are connect it to ubuntu it should work. So it should be a matter of your captivate. Take a full backup and format it. Or try different rom and see.
I have a captivate with stock rom and it works perfectly with pc.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
I have a seagate external 500gb free agent go that just quit on me. It worked fine until I hooked it up to my ps3 to use it to play a movie (didn't know I wasn't suppose to do that). On the playstation is came up unknown device so I then unplugged it. I went to plug it back up to my laptop and it installed a driver that I've never heard of and now won't work. It just blinks all the lights and that's it.
I don't care about the hard drive all I want is my pics off of it of my kids and family!
Please help
Thanks
James
Uninstall the driver you installed and try again.
Tried that already. All it does is reinstall that same driver after I plug the external back up. And for the life of me I can't remember the driver it installed and I can't look at it BC I'm not home right now...
Plug it into a new PC and see if it functions normally. Worst case scenario, crack it open and put the hard drive into your PC to get the data off.
I tried the only two computers I have available to try. I've got a co worker that uses Linux and we are going to try using that tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas.
So your saying I can take it apart and put it in my laptop? How do I do that lol

Greetings, folks. I have a brand-new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook from Barnes & Noble that now refuses to talk to two separate computers (both running Windows 7). Yesterday, I turned on the second computer (which had been off for at least 2 weeks and therefore had not received any new Windows updates in that time) and hooked up the Nook, and that computer recognized it and installed the drivers. That computer stayed up and running overnight, as did my main computer (which had been refusing to talk to the Nook all day yesterday).
Today, the Nook is not recognized by either computer. The device driver will start to install, and then comes the error message.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem, and which of those Windows updates might have been the culprit? Thanks!
I tried to post screencaps of the device installation error message, as well as the recent Windows Update history, but I am quite new to this forum and thus am not allowed to post links. Thus, I beg your patience, and send those interested to the Photobucket album where I have posted those screencaps. You'll have to translate this into a proper URL yourselves. Sorry.

P.S. I also have a Samsung Galaxy phone; when I plug it in to the computer, the device driver DOES install, and appears as "Samsung Android ADB interface," and I get the popup box that asks what I want to do (open folder, look at pictures, play music, etc). When I unplug the phone, that device disappears from Device Manager. When I plug the tablet back in, I get a "Samsung Mobile USB Composite Device" with the yellow triangle, and the Nook does not appear in "My Computer."
Problem solved!
I also posted the query on one of the Barnes and Noble support forums, and somebody came back with a suggestion which, lo and behold, actually WORKED. I am copying and pasting it here in case someone else is having a similar issue:
"I would go into device manager and delete the Nook entry. I would then re-plug in the Nook and see if Windows finds it and installs drivers. If it doesn't, then I would rescan for hardware changes while in device manager with the Nook attached.
(Also make sure USB is enabled in the Nook (Android) settings first.)"
Y'all have a fabulous day.
