Fully story here at androidcentral[dot]com
This should be great, as porting it to the Sprint version should be a piece of cake for the guys at CM. When this comes out, we should have a fully functioning CM 10.1 rom for the HTC One
I wonder if this will be an official ota flash maybe an option for is running sense

Still not official. At this point, it sure does sound like it could happen, but I'm still skeptical until I hear that official press release.
Safe to say it's official.

Again, I'm still skeptical. It's probably going to happen, but until I see the press release, it's still just rumors.
with multiple sites reporting it, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
I highly doubt that HTC will put out an official AOSP Rom for the Sprint/Sense versions we already have, but a developer could easily port the rom to our phones.
Weapons of mass destruction too.
They did a story about it and there are not too many benefits about running stock on this.
You lose out on Zoe and Beats Boom sound.
What HTC needed to do was add a shutter button.
I would be more than willing to give up Zoe and Beats Audio (Which is basically just an EQ setting you could replicate in CM) in exchange for pure google 4.2.2 ROM, or CM 10.1
Only if...
I agree with the physical shutter button. One like the evo 3d had would be awesome.
I am very very excited at the potential for aosp...but I would miss zoe.
I hate the shutter button. Always hitting it on accident on the LTE.
OP, thanks for heads up about this

It'll work but getting the radios to function over will be a chore I would imagine.
I'm sad they just don't flat out have a CDMA version to go along with it.

It doesn't really make financial sense to have the early adopters be able to get a plain Android experience. I mean we already gave HTC our money why would they provide a "software switch" and risk having brick several devices. And I'm sure the carriers won't allowed either.

If it was released by HTC it wouldn't brick our phones.... Also why wouldn't the carrier allow it? They have nothing to lose from it. And lastly, the stock android One is the same price as the one you would buy from sprint or att off contract.

I've always remembered basic updates Froyo to Gingerbread bricking phones and having carriers pull it afterwards. Even recently T Mobile had to pull the LG L9 update to jelly bean.
And I'm sure the carriers wouldn't like their bloatware being removed.

The IR blaster would work actually, it just wouldn't come with a dedicated app for it.
Three of those items, camera/video mix/Zoe are the same thing considering all of that is in the camera coding.
So your list boils down to two things. No flip board and waiting for HTC to modify their camera software.

Here's the google edition rom for our phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2371960 The only thing that doesn't work is 3g/4g and with that, that means no MMS either right now. They say that they'll have data soon though!
I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Nope. Took me like 2 hours to.download the MDL tar to go to stock unrooted then flashed update zip.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
For me, I still see and feel the occasional lag. But then, my reference point was the rooted MDL with the ktoonsez kernel and the Crossbreeder mod. . I dont even remember what the stock MDC & MDL setups felt like.
I don't like that it locked up something so that triangle away doesn't work anymore and flashing chainfire's root through PC Odin causes the system counter to read custom. Hopefully those issues will get fixed. I want to say battery life is better but I haven't had enough time with it to get a definitive answer. Then again, after rooting, I froze a $hit ton of bloat with titanium backup as usual.

Warmth is normal during charging, but if it is almost too hot to hold there is a problem. I'm on MDL and other than slight warmth during charging my phone NEVER heats up. My S3 would get hot/warm even with light usage but my S4 never does.

OTA Updates won't do you no good, even if you receive a notification with rooted stock, it'll most likely fail.
Either flash back to bone stock (no root, no custom recovery) and hope you get it soon, or wait until someone gets the N4 OTA, rips out the new binaries and compiles a new ROM with them from scratch, which you then can flash via CWM/TWRP.
Personally, I choose the latter. Also, do read the article in the link, it explicitly states that only the N7 and N10 have their OTA's rolling out so far, the time specified for our device is still "soon".

for me 4.4 will be the 1st stock that will not use, GEL is one of the best features from 4.4(looks like from N5) so the 4.4 update will be just to get custom 4.4 roms less glitched / more optimized

At this point being more secure on a nexus really is not a big thing. Many people are moving back to pre- material design versions of android.
"being more secure on a nexus really is not a big thing"
I said exactly that in a post a few weeks ago, asking whether the flaws they find in labs actually have any real-world impact, and was mightily down-voted for daring to suggest such a heresy...

Slim roms. Its the name of the rom. I cant say everything will work completely and you will also lose many of the things 6.0 brought. Go into the dev section and look for a rom updated about a year and a half ago and that would be 5.1 based

Your issue will most likely be that you will have to revert the bootloader as well as the radio files. If you are on 6.0 you will have to revert these things to work on the 5.1 which will require you flashing the stock rom from google then redoing everything from scratch.
