wifi not working after flashing custom rom - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed monxdiefied onto my xperia and now the wifi wont work, the option is greyed out in settings, also my album has stopped working, whenever i go into albums it omes up with the error message "unfortunately album has stopped"

Reflash again, but be sure you wiped cache, dalvic cache and all that stuff before.

Same happened to me when dowgraded kernel versión. From doomkernel 13 to 12.
Try to flash latest one. It seems That kernel modules remains in system

I wiped the cache and reflashed the rom but my wifi is still not working, I also installed the latest sony kernal as instructed on the thread but still the wifi option is greyed out :/

i'm assuming you already have your nandroid backup so do this.
boot into recovery
factory reset
flash rom
turn off device(hold power + vol up until phone vibs 3 times)or turn device off using recovery turn off option
flash the .244 generic stripped firmware file via FlashTool (make sure to uncheck all wipe options except kernel & baseband, but that's all that should be showing since those are whats included and needed from this FTF file.)

[Q] Which Kernel to Update?

Hi,
I am using XXLSA-UNP right now. Can i use PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSC-XJB or will i have to use PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSC-XJB-v3.99...i know that only LS should matter but just making sure if XXLSC would work or not?

What does this mean.? Both are the same. Yes you can use lsc kernel on lsa rom as well.
will i again have to do factory reset and wipe cache and all...also when ever i try to move any app using TBP to external memory and after that when i restart my phone that app gets uninstalled and have to reinstall them...is there something that could be done to avoid this?
Changing kernel does not need any kind of wipe. Apps. Moved to sd removes its icon from the home screen. This was a bug in some ics versions, and it's in JB too. So this may be resolved in the official JB

so there is no fix till the time official JB is out? i mean someone might have tried to create a fix for this or not?
It only happens on apps that you force using tbp. The ones that give the option to be moved to sd in applications Works fine.
yes that is what happens, and i have another problem for which i do not want to create another thread, please help me with this...
i installed JB xxlsa to my frnds phone (no root), i installed PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSC-XJB...from pc odin and did factory reset and also reset system, data, cache and also clean cache and clean delvik cache...and now it is stuck on samsung logo with yellow triangle...i am able to go to recovery mode n download mode...in recovery mode it says "failed to mount exfat"...there is no external sd card...please tell me what needs to be done....

Well if there is no (removable) extSdCard then it stands to reason that recovery will report an error when it looks for it. Yellow triangle will occur when flashing any custom kernel with PC Odin and can be removed with Triangle Away app.
JB leaks sometimes get stuck on reboot. Try installing a custom LSC version and use recovery to install zip from (non removable) internal SD card.

In your last post you said reset system, data, cache. Does that mean format? If that's th case there is no rom on the phone to boot. You need to install a custom rom using recovery or stock rom using the download mode.
I missed the "system" part this time.

do you have format /system /data and /cache?
Flash the kernel again.
Format /system,data,cache
Do factory reset/wipe data
Wipe cache partition, and dalvik cache.
After this flash the rom.

Oh and make sure the ROM installs properly i.e. it's not a bad download.

Having the same issue but it's bootlooping at nAa kernel logo, please help, i followed the instructions correctly, tried the solutions you posted, but still no luck...
It shouldn't bootloop at the kernel logo. If the ROM isn't installed properly, it should boot into CWM. Try reflashing kernel and ROM.

are you using the correct kernel? it shouldn't bootloop. like sgt.meow said it should go to cwm if anything's wrong.
Seems like my phone doesn't accept any custom ROM, i tried flashing GingerCMX with Alps (wiped everything before doing that), tried reflashing kernel, roms, several times and its just not working, my xperia x8 is xxx29 (the sticker under the battery), rooted, unlocked BL and no luck... :'(

i've used alfs for a couple of roms without that patch. no bootloops or any major bug.
@Titan9119
That libsensor patch is something required at ROM level i.e. after the device has booted up. And even without it, the device would be functional like @cascabel said.
I have the same problem.
I have kernel 2.0.32.61-nAa-06. I cleared the caches as required, flashed the kernel through flashtool and then flashed [ROM] | LiteCM10 | v1.0 | 09/07/2013 | JB 4.1.2 | nAa-06-kernel.
After flashing, I did a system reboot. The phone starts with the nAa kernel logo and then blacks out only to restart on the same. I've left it for a while and it keeps up the exercise. I can initiate the recovery with the back button. But nothing I've done has made a difference. Including repeated flashing.
There were no errors during the installations.
If anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

I did the formats as well as the wipes. Downloaded the ROM and the kernel again and re-flashed. Now its getting stuck on the kernel after a vibration. Sometimes the mauve coloured light comes on and stays, at other reboots it turns off.. Can't get it into the recovery anymore

[Q] XZ does not boot anymore after CM 10.1

Hi!
I just got a Xperia Z from a friend who try to install CM 10.1.
Apparently the bootloader is unlocked, CWM installed. And after the installation of CM, the device does not boot. Sony logo appears after a press on the start button and it turns down instantly.
What did I already try:
- Flash of two official roms with flashtool. The process stops after the progression bar is one fourth filled but nothing tells that the processus failed. But same issue always here, does not boot.
- Re-locked the bootloader with BLU (flashtool) to restore the phone with using Sony updater service : I have an error : "No loader found on this device".
Need your help please
Have you made a factory reset and cache delete before flashing CM? I make this mistake often but with flashtool I can always install back the stock rom.

I'm pretty sure he did a wipe data and wipe cache before the installation.
Flashtool does not repair my phone after a flash of the stock rom, do not know why..
What can I do ?
Do some research about how fastboot works to flash the official XZ kernel through fastboot

If you've just unlocked the bootloader and never booted a Sony ROM after the fact then you'll not be able to do a simple factory reset, but will need to do a full /data and /data/media (/sdcard) format. So do that first, then flash the zip(s), and then it should boot fine.
wiped full internal storage also tried relock and again unlocked the bootloader but still stuck at bootanmation,

N7000 stuck at boot screen

This phone was not rooted prior to being stuck at the boot screen. Actually, it wasn't event stuck at the boot screen. Instead, it turned on and off. I installed PhilZ recovery and was able to backup all files. Then I tried to flash different versions of CM without success. They all get stuck at the boot screen now. No more turning on and off. I also tried to clear cache, wipe dalvik something and reset to factory. Is there something else that can be done? What would be the most likely cause for the failure?

Alternatively, Odin a stock rom and look for a philz.zip with compatible baseband. You can enter stock recovery and then flash the philz.zip via update option. This is essentially replacing stock recovery with the custom version. I did this on a naturally occurring bootloop phone and it seems to work, this method also bypasses the yellow triangle warning on boot.
From there, if you want to use other custom roms just remember to wipe /data and /system before installing the kernel, followed by rom itself after a reboot to recovery.

I tried that. I went to samsung-updates.com and downloaded a version that I believe is compatible with my baseband version. Is there any way to check what baseband version my phone has? Then I flashed with odin and was stuck in a bootloop. I then flashed PhilZ recovery and the boot hangs at the samsung logo.
