So i just flashed a custom kernel (iodak) and i went into the software information and saw the kernel version is the same. Is it supposed to be like this or should it have the custom kernel name?

Download "no frills CPU" from play store and see if you can overclock the device to 1700mhz

lol i dont think you get what im saying, is it supposed to say the name of my custom kernel (iodak v07) under software information in stock rom?

no it shouldnt it just says 3.1.10 ...you should find out by installing trickstermod from play store for free ... u find kernel name includes ([email protected]) thats it u got iodak kernel
Thanks just one more q, is there an app out there that shows the cores that are running?
I wanna know if my low power core is working with this kernel because the 'Show CPU Usage' option under hidden menu just says 0mhz.

I just installed tegrak overlocking on my sgs fone. Pls help me what settings will i use. im running android 2.3.3. pls help
You need a kernel that supports overclocking. For values just look in the Glitch-kernel-thread. And I prefer 'Voltage Control'.

hi. i saw the thread. WOW too techy for me. i dont know where to start and what to look for
Just look at the values.

i dont know what is my rom? if cvm or maui? i mean cm
Go to Settings -> About phone then you'll see what's your ROM.
how will i know if im CM7 or maui as my fone doesnt say so
errrr if you're talking about the tegrak overclocking app, it does overclocking by itself without the need for a custom kernel or other app. that is its purpose *facepalm*
Try set OC to 1.2 GHz and see how that goes. if it makes the phone reboot/not work properly, click on "optimisation" and increase the voltage value for 1200 a little bit (ie. 25 or 50 mv). You can apply the same principles when attempting higher GHz too.
actually ive installed voltage control but it says my fone's kernel does not support voltage control. What kernel will i install so i can overclock my fone. Pls see below my firmware:
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000 XXJVO
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-i9000XWJVH-CL184813
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWJVO
@oswade i followed your instructions. my fone did not boot at 1.2 ghz. what does it mean?
by the way i read from other thread that stock kernel cant be overclocked that i need a custom kernel for overclocking? if this is true then installing tegrak overclock is useless except for custom kernel?

Yes, you need a custom kernel.
And be sure to have the kernel cleaning script on your sdcard to, it can provide flashing if you have made sh*t.

Thanks Lunchbox!! However i find it complicated and im scared to do it. i guess ill be needing a tutor for this.

Why?
You lookbfor a kernel that fits your firmwareversion and that supports oc. You have to flash this kernel via Odin oder CWM (there are always installation instructions in each kernel-thread). Then you download 'Voltage Control' out of the market, set your CPU frequency and you are done.

Hello, mine is not a technical question (i know how to undervolt), I'd like to know what ICS kernel allows me to undervolt the cpu. Can't find one..

Tegrak app should allow that, it injects a module into any kernel (most are supported)
thank you, but it does not work with criskelo.. what kernel do you suggest?
Try voltage control.

I have installed Voltage control and setcpu, no one works if kernel doesn't support undervolting.
Hey, I just wanted to ask is it possible to lower the vibrations? Since I moved to ICS/JB i just can' t get used to it. In 2.3 roms they were much lower or i even could set them in settings.
So, is it possible to lower vibrations on JB?

Thanks for reply, but as u can see from thread name, i do not own i9000, i have i9001 so this kernel would brick my device

I' m using unofficial port of CM10 by ivendor, and looking in settings --> system i don' t see vibrations option.
If your kernel have a kernel manager, like:
Devil kernel - devil kernel manager
Semaphore - semaphore manager
You can look at your's if your kernel have one, google it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Under "about phone" you can see your kernel info, the stock CM10 kernel allows vibration control, and the setting is located in system settings somewhere, so you'll have to check your kernel, and then if the one you have isn't the stock, if it has a management app.

Hello guys.
I am about to use cm10.1. I would like to make my phone faster but overclock is rebooting my phone too often, also it gets hot really easily. Is there anything 'speed kernel compatible with cm10 / up ?

Semaphore kernel is compatible and fast
however, you have to play with the governors and scheduler to change speed without overclocking (also in stock kernel)
look your best configuration
Overclock

Could u give me a link about a thread that includes the kernel and the way how to set it up? I haven't done kernel change for ages..
And amm.. I don't mind overclocking but if I have to, I need one that does not reboot every 3rd minute...

yo,
i have cm 10.2 and flashed the iodak v8 via cwm but after reboot my info say its cm 10 kernel already and not iodak. I cleanred cache dalvik and tried some more times
you sure you downloaded the cm10.2 kernel ? and not the cm10.1?

fastboot it?

maybe the info says it's cm kernel just because iodak didn't change it in his modification? Check if you have the iodak features, just to be sure
Sent from my 4X HD via XDA Premium
what means fastboot it
i can change freq to 1700
If you can overclock it, you already have a custom kernel like iodak's installed as CM's kernel doesn't allow overclocking. iodak's kernel is based on CM's and he probably didn't change the version info.
