Hi.
My ONE has some camera focus issue. Macros and close objects can be focused fine, but can't focus farther objects.
I want to send my device to service,
Additionally, I've updated to hboot 1.54 and ARHD20.1, device has SuperCID and S-OFF.
I want to install stock 4.2.2 software before sending my device, but it's S-OFFed and I want it to stay that way
My questions:
1. Can I safely downgrade to hboot 1.44, relock bootloader and revert CID to HTC_001?
2. What are the chances, that service will update my hboot to newest version?
3. Is there any chance that they will not notice that device is S-OFFed ?
Thanks in advance

1. yes, you can safely downgrade with s-off. a simple way to revert everything to stock would be to flash a RUU.
2. chances are very low in my opinion. there's a bigger risk that they'll maybe send you a new device with hboot already updatet to 1.54.
3. in my opinion they'll not notice this, and even if they do, they can't say for sure that the device was not delivered with s-off already before you got it.. so s-off should not decline your warranty of an hardware issue by necessity
cheers

Unlocking the bootloader, rooting, s-off does not necessarily invalidate warranty. If the error is due to physical defect during manufacture it doesnt uner the sale of goods act 1979. You will probably have to remind HTC/your provider of this. I sent in my device and it has been repaired, with unlocked bootloader, custom rom etc and was, eventually, repaired under warranty. The HTC warning whilst unlocking the bootloader via their website uses the word MAY invalidate your warranty for this reason. My repair was due to physical defect. I would say there is no chance they wont notice S-OFF. I dont know if they will flash 1.44 bootloader. I requested this but have yet to receive my One back. It should be returned today and I will advise, however they may flash 1.44 for me as they decided to replace the motherboard, presumably because they damaged it whilst attempting numerous repair attempts. So they may refuse you a 1.44 flash, whilst allowing mine.
Thanks guys
Personally, I don't think that Regenersis (HTC's service in Poland) will be so generous to offer me a new device
I will revert everything to stock and then I will see what happens after it returns from service.

Hi, as promised heres an update. The repaired phone had 1.54 flashed. I think this may only be due to the fact that it is an EE supplied phone and this is (I think) is their preference. There may be a different set of rules if you have a mobile from a different network, or you purchased a sim free (any network) mobile. HTC may have more flexibility then.

I need to return my One for warranty purposes (I am in the Netherlands). I am wondering if I should leave my device s-off or s-on it because I am sure I will receive my One back with stocj 2.24.401.1 firmware and hboot 1.54, which isn't s-offable as easily or just lock the bootloader and leave it s-off?

It depends on what repair you need doing... if it's a mainboard replacement then they're going to flash new anyway.... they may reflash anyway.
If you leave it s-off they could refuse a warranty claim and either charge you for the repair or return it unrepaired unless you can successfully argue that it was like that when you got it.... I think I've seen somewhere that a few s-off devices made it into the supply chain.
Not an easy decision... I think on balance if it was me then I'd relock and s-on. You can still flash roms when returned and hopefully the revone team will find a way to s-off again.

Being S-Off could potentially invalidate your warranty. It's all up to you if you want to risk being charged for any repairs but if I wanted to return mine and not get charged, I would be erasing any trace that I'd modified anything ... I'd rather not have S-Off, for a while maybe, than get lumped with a bill for repairs because my warranty was void.
If you decide to return to stock and wipe the "Tampered" flag, return to S-On etc, there are guides on here I believe.

I decided to send it it s-off locked, because we can only hope revolutionary will be able to gain s-off on hboot 1.54, hopefully they will not notice it. Yesterday there was an announced that HTC unjustifiably denied warranty to people with unlocked bootloaders.
I had decided to send in my device s-off but with locked bootloader and on the repair tracker website I can see that they replaced a part apparently under warranty. I hope I'll get my device back s-off and repaired....
Hi Guys
I'm wondering if any one knows if HTC kick up a stink and tell me my warranty is void...etc and not repair/replace a phone for having the tampered sign on the bootloader? Everything else looks stock.
What's happened was my phone developed a sound problem(can't make calls any more, sound won't work, no microphone- I tried flashing numerous ROMs/ backups no effect) and I'm going to have to return it for either repair (if possible) or replacement.
I originally had s-off, rooted, unlocked bootloader, twrp. Unfortunately to get back to stock I had to use a nandroid back up and firmware from the latest Australian OTA as no RUU appears to exist for unbranded Australian HTC ones.
So with the help of some awesome people I was able to get my phone back to current firmware and software, but I needed to downgrade the Hboot back to 1.44. I then relocked the bootloader with revone and S-on.
Only thing left was to reflashed the firmware to bring this back to Hboot 1.54, so I left no traces, which work but now I've got a tampered sign...... bugger
So this leads me back to my initial question; will HTC knock my phone back on account of having a tampered sign on the bootloader?
Is there any things I can say I did that did trip the tampered sign without admitting to do things that void the warranty?
If not I guess I'm in for a wait till some awesome individual works out how to get S-off again.
Cheers
Hi, have been reading up as much as possible, but am after confirmation before I start trying to return to stock.
Basically, I have an unlocked HTC__001 HTC One, s-on ,with an unlocked bootloader which was unlocked via HTCDev.
It was unlocked after being updated to 2.24.401.1, so I have bootloader 1.54, and an active "tampered" flag.
So, i've been playing with a GE rom for a bit but have decided I would like to get my device back to stock. I am under the impression that I could use my custom recovery to flash a stock odexed ROM suitable for my CID from here, then flash the correct radio, then re-flash the correct stock recovery, then re-lock the bootloader and be back to stock. My questions are these:
a) Am I right?
b) If I am right, will I still have the "tampered" flag set in the bootloader? I'm assuming I would.
c) If the flag is still set, will it affect any future OTA updates I may receive?
d) Does anyone know of a method other than this which will get me back to stock?
I have noted that the RUU for my device does not seem to be availabe to download as of yet, only the previous version is available which has the 1.44 bootloader, obviously, if I try to flash that, it will complain about the bootloader version being lower ect. So I don't think that is an option.
Any help would be appreciated, Cheers.

Thanks, but I have read that thread, it doesn't really apply to my situation. That thread is for S-off devices, mine is S-on. And also, it requires running an RUU which for me isn't available. The trouble (i believe) is that when S-on, I cannot run an older RUU than my current device is at. Hence my asking here.

Run a stock ROM like found in mike1986's thread, install the stock recovery and relock your bootloader ... That's all you can do at the moment because you can't go S-Off on Hboot 1.54 so the tampered flag will have to stay until you can.
Read through this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 .. there's everything there that you need to return to stock and receive OTA updates while being S-On. The only time you'll have an issue is if you can't go S-Off to remove the tampered flag and change it from relocked to locked, only an issue if you need to return it under warranty for anything that's happened as a result of you unlocking the bootloader and flashing stuff.
Yeah! That's pretty much what I thought.
Will the tamper flag give me issues do you think?

According to the guy I spoke to at HTC when I sent mine back the other day, it shouldn't. He said they should only refuse to cover repair under warranty if the fault is caused by something you've done, i.e, flashing stuff or deliberate damge or something. Unfortunately that's the risk you take if you need to return it, unless there's a method to change the flag by being S-Off you just have to either not risk it and wait until you can go S-Off and be sure to remove all traces of messing, or you return it and hope for the best lol
Well, I don't need to get it fixed or anything. Just had me play and wanna return it back to normal. I have done as I said I would in the first post and applied a small application update from HTC, so it appears to have worked. As expected, I have Re-locked and Tampered displayed. Will Just wait for S-off to emerge and deal with it then. Thanks for all the replies.
Recently, my phone started to develop the Purple Camera Tinting issue and thus I had to send it back for repair. However, I need to know if my warranty will be considered void. The state of the phone was:
RUU was run and OTA Updated
S-Off
Bootloader stated ***LOCKED***
Running Sense 6.0 (even though I have doubts that it still hasn't been released in my country)
I tried to research in regards to this but have got mixed answers. Some posts state that the warranty will not be void in such cases. While others state that HTC will not accept to offer a replacement or repair and would issue me a statement that the problem was caused by "illegal software".
So what will be the possibility of the warranty not being void?

if you want to be 100% sure your warranty still valid, the phone must be 100% stock which should not be an issue to achieve with s-off.
phone must be stock rom, stock cid/mid, locked bootloader, not tampered flag and sadly s-on which will require to downgrade first.

Is it a must to be S-On? I have run the RUU which means I am completely stock. I have never changed the CID of my phone either. Only that I did not S-On the device.
Also, if HTC Flags my device, is it ok if I fix it all again and resend it? Will they accept it?

Some pple got their phones repaired under warranty even with s-off, some others less lucky. Its really your choice to go s-on or not. The fact is there are chances (maybe really slim) the will refuse to apply the warranty with s-off.

I really dont know!
Hi All
I am currently in a bit of a predicament, i bought a second hand one m7 and i foolishly unlocked the bootloader and proceeded to install TWRP on the phone
After spending hours trying to S-OFF my HBOOT 1.57 with nearly every method that was posted on the internet i decided to give up. It was only then i realised that my M7 has the purple camera problem and now seeing that it still has warranty, i want to return it to get it fixed.
Except it has the tampered and unlocked flags and im concerned that they might refuse my warranty claim. Can anyone with past experience provide some insight on what will happen
The phone is running a carrier branded firmware and has no RUU.
Some times they refuse to repair it. Sometimes they accept it. Depends on your location and the service you are sending it in.
As for my opinion I tell you that you are safe if you are sending it locked and s-on and tampered flag gone. If you have some money you can s-off it with sunshine http://theroot.ninja/
I´ve send HTC One M7 to official HTC Service center for my region (Czech Republic) with the same problem- Purple photos.
The phone was Unlocked and S-On.
They changed me my One M7 for new HTC One M8,becasue they haven´t got substitute parts for One M7.

So i decided to send it back today in its current state. Relocking the bootloader would just make things even more suss since it would say "relocked" and would imply that i tried to cover things up
When i sent it in i turned on fast boot within the power menu and i set a pattern lock so it will force my carrier's service team to wipe the device. Speaking with one of the devs of SunShine he told me that flashing a RUU removes the tampered flag
Hoping for the best
