lapdock and keyboard process - Motorola Droid 4

Every Lapdock with I use with my Droid 4, seems to skip some keys. I think this is an issue with the process that runs the keyboard. Does anyone know what that process is? I am hoping to renice it to a higher priority. I am already overclocking to 1320.

5 months and no one knows?

DROID 3 Vs Bionic

Which do you think is better?
/droid3
If you have to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the D3 is better. If you have to have 4G, the Bionic is better.

..
Honestly, aside from the amount of RAM. The Droid 3 is the Bionic without 4G and a hardware keyboard and vice versa. They even look the same, with the camera being in a different spot.

in all honesty i dont think phones will ever need more than 512mb to run efficiently.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
That extra 512mb may help the phone from laggin down... I had my D3 bogg down a few times already to the point i had to pull the battery no clue why ..
Yes, but if you really consider normal usage for regular people (lol, were rebels), they only make phone calls, text, check their email and web browse. 512 is more than sufficient. Heck, 256 is enough.
But from a power users standpoint, its a little different.

I'm pretty sure that half of the bionics ram is set aside for the webtop, thus both the d3 and bionic have the same amount of ram for android to use.

Comparing these 2 are like comparing the droid x and droid 2 last year. Droid X had HDMI and a bit higher pixel density (854x480) as well as a larger screen, but Droid 2 had a Keyboard.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
D3 and Bionic are the exact same thing. 512mb of the 1024mb of the Bionic's ram is exclusively for webtop. D3 has the keyboard, and Bionic has the lte. It all comes down to if your area has lte or not and if you want a keyboard.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
I went for the Droid 3 because I wanted a physical keyboard. I wouldn't want a screen any larger than what I have now. About the only thing I wish the D3 had is 1GB of RAM instead of just 512MB. No 4G isn't a deal breaker for me because I live in a rural area that probably won't get 4G for a few years.
I agree. No matter what, physical keyboards will always be more accurate then touch screens

Wrong.
The amount of free memory can easily go down to around 50MB when browsing webs and performing other mildly intensive tasks on the D3.

Did you try swype input method. (I don't)
I have a strong feeling that it's faster than physical keyboard.
Anyone please talk about your feelings?

You're wrong. We literally make up 1% of the Android world. People in everyday life don't know what a redraw is. Heck, they don't even know what RAM is.
So what if there's only 50mb left? Most of the world doesnt even know that.
If you think you represent the whole Android community then you're wrong. PISS off.

Simply stated, if you need a physical kb, d3. Lte, bionic.
I type faster on my hardware keyboard then the soft one. I send a lot of emails with it at work.

Using the Droid X in landscape I was pretty fast and accurate on the standard keyboard. The problem for me is I use my phone to take notes at job sites & meetings. With the phone turned in landscape you can only see 1-3 lines of text and navigating around the text is nearly impossible. So, I'm back to a hard keyboard with the D3.
I like the D3 but I'm starting to get frustrated about the problems like the battery and the update is taking longer than expected. After seeing a friends Bionic, that is really a nice phone and has better accessories.

Bionic and ice cream sandwich

Beings that the bionic and almost every other phone has built in soft keys including the vigor which will be out soon, does anyone think any current phones will be getting an ICS update. ICS has the softkeys built into the screen like honeycomb. It would look a little funny with 2 sets of menu keys. Just seeing if anyone had any input on this issue
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
I fully expect the Bionic to get ICS. In fact I'd be willing to bet it's one of the first non-nexus phones to recieve it. Being under the google umbrella is a good thing, which Motorola now is. As far as the buttons go, that's a software modification and I don't expect that to be much of a road block. Button remapping takes place all the time in custom kernels so the guys at Moto and or Google should be able to sort that out simple enough.
I was hoping so. It just seems one of the main ics features is no menu keys. I was just hoping it wouldn't have both
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
ICS is being hailed as bringing tablets and phones together, so something as simple as disabling some on-screen menu buttons doesn't sound like something they would overlook.
Even if we ended up with some ****ed up version of ICS that made our phones have two rows of menu buttons, it wouldn't take longer than a day for the hackers here on XDA to figure out how to hide them.
Seems to me that our softkeys would work just fine w/ ICS... all the screengrabs I see have home, back, and multitasking buttons. Remap the menu key to be for multitasking, and you're set, with a bonus search key that duplicates whatever search function is integrated w/ ICS elsewhere.

I think it kinda sucks that Samsung and Google are waiting on officially releasing ICS due to the passing of steve jobs. Yeah it can be respectful but that didnt stop apple from making money.
I doubt the Google acquisition will affect products in the pre-merger pipeline for a year. Short of layoffs, I've never seen a change in engineers assigned priorities right off the bat.

The release isn't pushed back, just the announcement.
And it was extremely classy in my opinion.

Back on topic please folks
I'm sure they have the ability to use the four keys just like 2.3.7 and below. I believe that they also said that it was the manufacturers choice when building phones and tablets which method they use back when they were first touring honeycomb on the XOOM. I'm sure that they won't give us two sets of keys and take up screen realestate.

Nexus S will be the first phone to receive the update as far as previously sold phones without ICS. My Nexus S 4G has builtin soft keys as well. There's your answer

Wth is rild?

Wife has a d4 and it's got this rild process running all the time.
What is it and can I safely kill it with titanium backup?

It is probably the Radio Interface Layer Daemon. Not something you want to disable.
Its a horrible implementation if true. Sucks battery down like a son of a gun. Any hack tips for root users In this case?

Haven't experienced it since thunderbolt, but battery pull worked there. It was actually a common issue on that device.

This phone destroys the Nexus 7

I got a nexus 7 for Christmas and don't even use it because of my nexus 4. I mean sure it has a bigger screen but it's slower and with the latest Paranoid Android update the screen on my nexus 4 is better as well!
I have a top of the line laptop and top of the line smartphone. Where does a dated tablet belong in this scenario? Maybe I could use it to watch Dragon Ball Z at the gym. Or load it up with porn and use it as a mobile fap station.
I think I'm just going to sell it, what do you guys think I could get for it? It's a mint 32gb wifi model.
Thanks a ton XDA!

Well, I'd advise not to use it for porn, if you don't like it, sell it

You can't compare a phone with a tablet, but still I understand what you mean. The Nexus 7 is a value for money tablet with feature pack functionalities, but the screen is not up to par.

Why not use it for porn? Sounds fine to me. 7 inches is a usable size for anything sex-related (badum-tish)
the nexus 7 is much better for gaming(especially tegra optimized games) then the nexus 4.

dont think theres anything right now the adreno 320 can't handle. i mean come on, the unreal engine demo (epic citadel) ran on 60 fps on the N4. so it doesn't really make any difference. and the screen on the nexus 4 is significantly better than on the nexus 7.

My mate ran the spiderman man game on his nexus 7 and it lagged slightly, yet on my nexus 4 smooth as butter, yet it lags with vice city maxed out, not hard lag but in high intensity areas
But a lot of games are optimized for tegra and have added effects and graphics. I don't think he meant that it can't handle it, the nexus 4 is way more powerful. But games look better on the nexus 7.

Maybe wait for 4.2.2, because 4.2 runs like crap on Nexus 7.
I've noticed too that I'm not using my N7 much since I got the N4. For me though, it's more of a convenience thing. I kept close tabs on where the tablet was before I got the N4, but now I'm not caring as much where my wife leaves it.

Good decision. If not using it, sell it.
However, I use n7 more than n4 at home. I love my n7.

I absolutely despised the N7. Hated the screen, headphone out sound quality, and the build quality. I bought an iPad for my tablet needs. Most of the time you get what you pay for with the Nexus 4 being an exception. It's a sweet piece of hardware that's definitely under priced.

The Adreno 320 is way faster than Tegra 3, that's not the point. Gaming is still better on a tablet than a phone. Unless you have to tilt the device a lot .

[REQUEST] Dual/Multi A2DP out

I realize this sounds silly but is it at all possible to use 2 a2dp headphones/devices simultaneously? I would assume the bt spec supports it though couldn't get my N4 on PAC ROM to output to both simultaneously.
The practical use case is me on my motorcycle with a passenger. Yes we could each use our own phone but I tend to"ride to the music"so it would be pretty nice to share the entire experience (including the song and position of the music I'm playing) with my passenger. Thanks!

I'm also really interested in this, however it would likely involve rewriting part of the Bluetooth subsystem (is it still bluez?) to make it happen, plus all the testing and debugging...
