I was on omar's rom and suddently i realized that when i connect my headset the music was still playing by the speakers and I couldn't make it work until i reboot my phone with the headset connected..but the speakers didn't work even if i disconnect the headsets..so I decided to flash the stock rom via rsdlite..but my problem isn't fixed Any idea?
You simply might have dust inside. I have that from time to time. Try with a wooden toothpick, the phone turned upside down, to carefully take out the dust of the headphone hole.

no, it is a hardware or a software problem..my phone is one month old only
Oh ok, then it might be an issue with the ROM But there I can't help you any further.

Hi all,
I have a strange issue with one mobo for i9000 and I thought that maybe someone will be able to help with that. I have not been able to find any solution on the forum or anywhere else. The problem is that the speaker generally works - when I change the ringtone or notifications, the sound gets through it, however it does not play any sound when playing multimedia type of sound (so in games, or when changing multimedia volume in settings). When I connect headphones, the sound works ok for multimedia. Does anyone have an idea on what is going on with it? I have never seen such an issue, is there any way o fix it?
Thanks,

Try to change your rom if problem still there then it must be fault in speakers then go to service centre.
It confused me, that you write the speaker sounds normal ...
Are you using BigMEM or something which breaks some kernel-libs for multimedia???

Yeah, the sound gets through it when I select different ringtones, but not when playing multimedia. However when I connect headphones, all is ok.
Currently the phone was wiped clean and installed stock rom using Odin, so I assume if there even were modifications like those you mention, those should be all gone now.
Hmhh strange:
When you are using stock rom and the problem still exists it should be a hardware problem with the speaker maybe with some frequencies???
Because when you use your headphones erverything works okay, so the is produced by the kernel-drivers ...

check if you have any lint /dirt lodged in your headphone slot, try use a needle of tooth pick, when phone is powered off and battery removed.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

I will, thanks. I did not realize this may be the issue, since all other sounds go through the speaker. But then if the sound for ringtones goes through speaker regardless of connected headphones, this may be the issue.
I will check and see if this will help, thanks!

Ok so I have managed to trace the problem. It turned out that international version of i9000 has a different sensor/headphone connector than the SC-02B I have. I have ripped off the sensor/headphone module from original leftovers of the screen and connected it to the board and launched the phone. All sound works fine then, no issues whatsoever. Youtube works, ringtones work, even the light sensor works (it did not when I tested it on the international board). So this is it guys. Probably the same problem is with wifi - there are different board connectors and the antenna is not connected, hence low signal.
Thanks for your replies and help, much appreciated!

Hi all,
Today I found out my speakersound is not working properly.
The external speaker on the back works fine but when I start Walkman and want to play a song there is no sound.
I believe that my phone thinks that the headset is plugged in.
I have tried the following:
- Reflash stock
- Factory reset
- On/off device
It just doesnt work.
Anyone got a solution before I get my bud to a repair centre?
please use service test
Done, there is absolutly no sound. Only when i really plug my earphones in.
Also a funny thing. Normaly when you open FM radio without earphones it ask yo plug them in. But with me there was no popup this tells me that there is a problem with my 3.5mm jack
Hey a friend had the same problem with his HTC phone. he downloaded the app Headphone blocker (or similar) from the play store and that worked. maybe you'll use it temporarily?

oh,ok.. by the way i had the same problem but i just had to plug in the headphone for short and then it worked fine and the problem never came again. or you shut down the phone for a while?
tried it all.
Shut down lay it away for an hour. Plugged earphones in and put it way for a while..
I really dont know what to do..
Also; it is only with "media" files becasue i hear when someone calls me or sent me a text message. Changing volume is something i can hear to. I just need to reset so that it is not in headset mode any more
hm.. okay.. and where exactly comes the problem? only with walkman or also with youtube or instant buttons or something like that? and can you hear something, if you go to dialer and *#*#7378423#*#* then go to service test and loudspeaker?
oops okay saw it too late ^^ these are the same "symptoms" like I had. If you plug in your earphones, the music for examples functions, right? and if you let the music play and you plug them out while letting the music play it stops?
The problem occurs with everything that uses the speaker. For example youtube. There is absolutly no sound unless i use my headphones. The same is for walkman, apollo and many others.
The service tests dont work. Since i cant hear a thing unless i use my headphones
No the music dont stop when i unplug my headphones
Okay.. but it is loudless.. that's quite difficult ^^ if it thinks the headphine is in did you try to kind of clean the headphone jack connection by blowing into it e.g.?
Okay; very very late response but from me.
I've tried a lot of solutions but a very very weird one worked from me. My speakers are functioning again.
What I did.
After the response above I just blowed a bit air in it. I just, yes very weird, licked the 3.5 mm plug that goes inside in the phone and played a song.
When I removed it the Walkman stopped playing. I thought it was me that I pressed a button or something. So I plugged it back in pressed play and after two songs I removed my earphones and yet again, the music stopped.
WOW it worked!
So I pressed play again and Krewella played through my speaker again!!
So, licking it seems to work? :silly:
Probably because of dust between the contacts inside the hole.
Good you got it sorted

Hello, I just bought new Xperia Z1 on thursday. I wanted to test all features of this amazing device. Yeah.. after testing most of them I had to test waterproofness, so I made sure all covers were closed. So I put the phone under the faucet for 5 seconds to clear it from dust (headphone jack got wet for sure), then I left it on my desk for a while. After 1.5-2 hours I was going to watch a movie but after connecting my headphones to headphone jack nothing happened, it didn't detect my headphones, I said 'okay nevermind, lets leave it for a night'. Today I woke up, but still.. no luck. Headphones jack ain't responding to any headphones. Should I wait few more days or just reclamate it? I'm scared it might void warranty and I have to buy new device.
Thanks for help.
Kind regards,
Earl

Yes I tried 4 different pairs but didn't work. The original ones I recieved with Z1 works fine on my PC and TV.
Cleaned it with cotton swabs, but no water in there or anything, used also compressed air. Waiting for advices.
Not sure if this help, do a Factory Reset. If this will fix that mean is something on your phone which compromising the jack audio. Then install one by one the applications and see which get you problems. Check also all the settings in Sound and Volumes if everything is ok.

I've done a system reinstall by update service 3 hours ago, didn't help. Sound and Volumes are okay. I think thats some hardware problem, but its weird since headphones jack should be totally waterproof, maybe something is still wet inside and I have to wait till it will get dry
Let's do a small test. Connect your phone via Bluetooth to the PC and Play some Music or Vids from Z1 and tell me if you can hear Music on your PC. Just connect and click listening Audio from Z1. Your PC will be used like a handset to listening music. So, do you hear anything?

You don't understand. Can you hear Audio from speaker? Yes. Then you put jack connector and the speaker turn off but the headphones do not working? Yes. Then try also via bluetooth reproduce music on PC or even on Bluetooth Handset, do you hear music? If you try we can understand if it's hardware or software problem. I will suggest also do a Factory Reset, do not matter the Update you did. After Updates is recommended a Factory Reset, so do it. Report later. Multimedia and WiFi have nothing to do with the problem.

After connecting headphones speaker is working just the same when they are not connected. If I volume up playing music from walkman with headphones connected, and speaker is just louder. Going to do Factory Reset now.

This sounds similar to the problem I had, im not sure if it was moisture damage or if the headphone jack is damaged. Do headphones play sound okay? If so its probably doing what mine did where it doesnt detect the headphones being removed and thinks they are still plugged in. My problem sorted itself out, I just happened to be using a aux cable for a car stereo and after unplugging, the speakers magically started outputting again.

Ive found the headphone jack on a few websites which sell parts for our SP, would replacing the jack solve the issue do you think? The part is small and uses a clip in ribbon cable so I don't think it would be too difficult to do. Before my issue fixed itself, I was considering buying the jack and attempting to replace it, I just wasn't sure if that would actually fix the issue.
I was on CM12.1 earlier this morning. Suddenly I realised that my earpiece is not working while on calls. Neither did the screen turned black in effect of proximity sensor while on call. So I right away flashed stock to check whether its a hardware or software issue.
Digging more into the problem I could make out that its not the earpiece that is damaged but its the phone that thinks the headphone is still connected. I used an app called SoundAbout to check the media output. And it was confirmed that headphones is used for media output. Then I checked playing a song, it didnt through loudspeaker which also confirms that phone is detecting the headphone is plugged in while it is not.
Below I upload the screenshot of that app called SoundAbout which I used to find the problem. Sorry for such a long post.
Any help, suggestion, or any strange or extraordinary experience that could help?
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you are using SoundAbout why don't you then select where you want the sound to come out from? Isn't that the whole point of that app?
Also dunno about your proximity sensor issue but my phone suffers from similar ear piece issues as well and the issue crops up sporadically so I am still not sure sure its completely a hardware issue. I spent months looking for a solution but was finally about to hand it in for repairs when I the came upon the strangest solution somewhere. Here's what I do when this happens -
Plug my headphones in
Make a call
When you can hear anything in the headphones (call being connected, recipient's voice...heck just dial a non existent no. so you can hear the operator say it doesnt exist, any sound at all) , pull the headphones out and the sound comes out the earpiece.
I know it sounds silly but it works for me. It might not work the first time but after a couple of tries, it always does. Till date the only workaround I have found to this issue albeit a temporary one. Lasts me a few weeks before it happens again. Rinse and repeat.
One of these days I am gonna bite the bullet and hand it in for repairs. Remember reading someplace that this could be because some chip or something that supposed to switch sound depending on the task fails to do so though I am talking from memory here and this might be completely inaccurate.

i saw some users have the same problem actually ....try to plug and unplug it several times and see what happens
and clean your headphone input plug then reboot ....if any of that didn't help then repair it
None of the above method worked for me. I will send it for repair very soon. Till then I will use the app to manually route audio to loudspeaker.

Actually the issue is called stuck in headphone mode. If you google it there are a number of methods to solve it. One of those you could try out is http://forums.webosnation.com/webos...37-stuck-headset-mode-permanent-easy-fix.html
Go to a hardware store, pick up a tube of graphite powder for around $3.
1) Gently squeeze a couple puffs of graphite powder into headset jack.
2) Turn phone upside down to let excess fall out.
3) Grab a pair of headphones and insert/remove them several times.
4) Enjoy your new, permanently fixed phone.
Im planning to try this out. Even u can!!!!!!!!!
I will report soon
