Dead and Stuck Pixels on Xperia SP - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a brand new xsp, and then I notice that I have stuck pixels,
I can see it if the background is black.. It stuck on white blue color.
Anybody have stuck or dead pixels too?
You can try your display by dialing this : *#*#7378423#*#*
Put your phone on the max brightness before doing the test.
You can inspect it on white and black background.
I will return my phone to see if I can have it exchange for a new one.

Nope, I had a Samsung phone that had a stuck (white) pixel and I went to the store and they gave me a new one

[Q] HTC One Stuck Pixels - Anyone Else?

Hi,
I have noticed that there are some stuck pixels on my HTC One screen by accident when using camera in the dark.
Has anyone else noticed stuck pixels on their device?
A 'stuck pixel' as opposed to 'dead pixel' is a permanently lit pixel (white in my case, clearly visible on black background) on a LCD display.

I thought I had two stuck pixels, but it seems to be a slight flaw in the glue between the glass and screen. For example, if the brightness is set to auto so that it dims in a dark room, I cannot see any dots. But if the brightness is high, and then view in a dim room with a black screen displayed, I see two dots. Those dots change in brightness depending on the angle I hold the phone. You may have real stuck pixels, but I just wanted to mention this weird phenomena that can look like them.
I have a very similar thing to what Jonstatt described. Sounds a lot like stuck pixels to me. On my third handset for this reason.
I'm considering contacting Phones4U with that issue. There should not be any display defects on a brand new, quality handset.
I did my third exchange this morning and finally got a flawless unit. Well worth it, and I would agree that there shouldn't be any pixels stuck on a brand new handset, especially if you are going to have it for 2 years!

yea i got a stuck one as well. It's in the last row on the far far left side of the phone so not noticeable but I know it's there ...
Shouldn't get this on a phone this expensive.
On the other hand my as well as many others on the forum's S3's screens were pretty horrible so i guess it's hard to get a perfect one.
Where are your pixels located ? is it enough to warrant a return ? thing is i got mine from phones4u in the UK but i'm in France now so wondering if I should send it back to HTC ?
edit: DAMNNNN just did the black picture test, so now I have at least 5 stuck pixels, wtf???
Pixel Fixer
there's an app in Play Store by the name of Pixel Fixer or something like that. There are a few free versions you could try identify if there is any dead pixels and it'll try to fix them. It worked for my old Motorola Defy, it might work for the One.
EDIT: sorry, it fixes stuck pixels...dead pixels are, well, basically dead...can't do anything about those.

Dear god not again.
This was same thing had happened with One X launch. I had to return 4 devices back to HTC to get the one without any dead pixels, or screen separation issue back then.
This time I have Developer edition on pre-order. If this one has dead pixels, I am simply going to return it and wont bother again. I am not going through the same thing I went with One X again in my life.
Na pixel fixing apps don't work for me
Man this is a real shame, might wait a bit for better versions to come and return this one to HTC even though i don't want to, such a great device.
This should not be happening on a high end phone like this. Gaps, dead pixels and hissing noise...
I have 7 dead pixels. This is crap. Wondering now as lots of people have this issue if HTC are cutting corners to make extra profits.

I have a small trapezium of stuck pixels, show up on green and white as bright, right on the edge on the left, about 3cm from the top of the screen. I'd say, given the pixel density on this screen, mine is a cluster of at least 4.
I debated internally about it for a week as it wasn't that noticeable, and the phone is otherwise free of the other common defects, tried pixel fixer apps as I'm certain it wasn't there on first turn-on, but have contacted the Three store who will replace. Here's hoping my 3rd (technically 4th) HTC One will be my perfect one.
I will be checking it in store for bulges, pixels, hissing, camera and so on haha!
So sad. Also keep pressing 3 dot menu when trying to press spacebar is so annoying.
Mine is going back and getting s4. Wanted a change and regret it.

I've got a single dead pixel on the RHS about 2/3 of the way up the screen (in portrait mode). Can't decide whether to live with it or send back to affordablemofiles for replacement. Pixel fixing apps had no effect.
Spent ages in phones4u picking out a phone with no dead pixels, took three box openings.
Now found I have two bright stuck pixels! It's going back!
With one I bought online & returned previously, 4/4 have had pixel issues.

I haven't noticed any stuck/dead pixels. But that's not to say there aren't any.
So I've voted 'no' for now.

not at all. explained the situation and said i didn't notice it until i finished setting up the phone and when i went onto the browser i noticed it and just called them up. they said it shouldn't be that way and they were gonna order me another replacement. getting it tomorrow from fedex. had the option to bring to the store and getting it replaced there but didnt want to deal with the reps in the store.so i had them order it for me over the phone.
I notice if the brightness is all the way down when scrolling white text on black I see a purple tint

I see it only at boot when the AT&T logo is up. It happens to only affect the bottom part where the animated gradient is.
I'd like to have more people teat this out. Maybe a good test would be to turn the boot animation upside down somehow, and then booting it up. It could just be some glitch with it running that animation or it could also be baked into the image.

I tested using Display Tester app. Used color chart #808080 at lowest setting number 1, in a pitch dark room. The lower quarter towards the home button showed to be slightly darker. Couldn't emulate this in any other color's. Seems normal.

It won't cause any more problems and white balance helps with the issue
But Sony seems to calibrate the colors on different updates so you might have to readjust your WB settings after each update
Some users have reported yellow hue dissapeared after a certain update while other users got it after the same update
You could send it back if it bothers you but its a lottery and you're better off with white balance

Thanks for the reply... i got bit panicked when i first notice the problem. thank you for your help!
I have it as well, for me it's always been there with every update, while the white balance helps a lot it's not perfect because adding a lot of blue increases the contrast and reduces saturation a little bit, if I was you I would send it back.
I have checked about 12 other Z1s on stores and only one had the yellow tint so chances you get the same problem with your replacement unit are very minimal

[Q] Note 4 screen dying. Please help

My note 4 screen seems to be dying. I sent it back to Samsung and they said it had a nox warranty void. Not the smartest move on part. Can I please have some help on what I need to fix. Screen only looks perfect on max brightness and even then it has dark black bars going across the screen. It will flicker when I turn it on and off and sometimes won't even come on at all. On lowest brightness the screen has a dark green tint and is crazy hard to see. Please help! Thanks.

Your only fix is to pay 175 for a new screen and replace it
BAD ASS NOTE 4
If you are comfortable with messing with the hardware, there may be a fix. I know on other Samsung devices this has happened and it was due to a loose connection. I believe it has to do with either the display connection to the MB or the power supply to the display.
