This you check if it was maybe your headphones who just stopped working?
Did you do any hard reset?
Turn off/on the X-loud and the other options because I once had a problem with my current XS which just needed me to toggle X-loud on and off and it worked again
I tried 3 different headphones. None of these work in stereo
I haven't did any hard reset...
I've already tried to turn on/off xloud...

Hmm try with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452814
If that doesn't work send it back for a checkup because it's clearly a HW problem then

I've flahed the latest firmware still getting mono output it's an HW problem.
I'll send it back to Handtec....
Got the same issue right now... The left side output stopped working, exactly like you.
At first I thought it might be caused by residual water in the headphone jack socket but now it's been 24h since I last washed the device.
Did you send and get your device back since you opened this thread ? Did Sony's warranty cover the repair ?

I've got the exact same issue, left audio channel stopped working. I tested this with 3 different headsets. I've sent the phone to my repair centre which have sent the phone to Sony repair centre.
They've contacted me and said that the phone could not be repaired and I will get a new replacement phone. Now I just have to wait until I get the new phone delivered.
If you've got the same issue, I would advise you to send it to your repair centre as the phone would be replaced with a brand new one while it is still in warranty.
EDIT: This issue just appeared out of nowhere on my device, not after being washed with water.

My issue was actually caused by a bit of fluff that got into the headphone jack. I took a thin metal stem and managed to get it out, my stereo output is back now :highfive:
Hi,
I had the same problem too, but couldn't see any fluff within the port.
Factory reset didn't work.
Luckily I was within the 7-days "satisfied or exchanged" period so I just went to the Sony store and got a new device.
Cheers,

Same thing happened to me. I had no audio on the left side of my headphones and the headphones were new. I used a flashlight and looked inside the jack. Saw a bit of lint in there. Took a hair pin as the end of hair pins aren't sharp metal to prevent damaging the jack. Used the hairpin and got the lint it. Works fine now.

I bought a galaxy s on ebay, was like new a week old.
Found it to be very fast and amazing but the headphone port seems to be having problems. only one side of the headphones work for some reason and if i twist the headphone jack inside the port and hold it at a certain place occasionally both work.
Have tested in 4 different set of earphones which are fully working and I get the same problem. If I unroot my phone and ask the seller for the original reciept will I be able to get the phone repaired under warranty?
thanks
My usb port didnt work anymore after a week i got this phone. It was sent back rooted and had unofficial firmware. They replaced the port for free however. You need the receipt though..
The samsung employee told me they didn't care about unofficial software. The procedure to make everything default is a 10 sec job
You replacement will be under factory warranty, just like mine

I had same problem. Brought it to SC and they found out headset was faulty. Replaced headset. Headset/accessories only 6 months warranty. So go get it checked out. They didn't even check the phone. So I won't worry too much about custom roms unless you really have an issue with the phone itself.
God bless.
Thanks for the replies. Found out it was due to the fact that the gel case I have on my phone prevented the headphone Jack going all the way into the port. Stupid mistake I know but at least I know its now sorted.

It is probably a hardware problema. Contact your vendor and they should give you a new one.
When in call press the volume up button to insure the earpiece volume

If you have warranty replace it
Same issue
I know it's an old thread, but since I have pretty much the same issue, I didn't want to open a new one.
In Summary - Starting today, nothing comes out of the earpiece, grill is clean. Speaker, headset, BT - all works fine.
No recent drops or software changes in the last few months since the installation of Zaiben RC10, which, BTW, works perfectly.
I opened the back of the phone, applied a small current to the earpiece connectors and the speaker itself seems to be working fine.
The phone is out of warranty, or else I would have brought it to a service center.
Does anyone have any idea what else could I check? Anyone had this or a similar issue and managed to fix it?
Thanks,
Eran
Hi
The usb port on my note was broken so it would only charge if the connector was put in it at an angle!!
So I then got the usb ribbon controller from amazon and replaced it but since I've done that the mobile reception is terrible and the loudspeaker/ringer only works if I have the volume down low and cuts out and doesn't work at all if i have the volume up loud.
I've ordered a replacement loudspeaker/ringer and antenna module but am not sure if this will resolve the problem. Why would this have happened???
I read someone on another forum mention a u202 problem. What is that and how does that get resolved???

Just take it to a repair shop. Same thing happened to me and I made a mistake of letting a non-official repair shop replace the USB connector for me. Reception was HORRIBLE.
Turned out it was a non-samsung part used, and after the official Samsung service replaced it, everything went to normal.
Don't use cheap chinese replacement parts crap.

Part fitted was a genuine Samsung part.
Loudspeaker Needs to be replaced anyway and I have now been advised that I may have a damaged antenna cable so that is now on order. Hopefully this will resolve these issues.

be carefull when taking apart and placing the stuff, electronics are pretty fragile.
There are also a lot of faulty modules as I have read people have difficulty getting the right working parts. So far repair shops are pretty reliable cause you can go back. Usually expensive though.
I have had positive experience with parts4repair. They even have dustcover/plugs for your usb hole. I havent read yet a non working part from them.
off course warrantee is pretty important as well.
I can also recommend getting high quality cables with special connectors. The usb interconnectivity is great, but I have seen to many usb holes get broken, I blame the cables. A new better standard should arise cause this is rediculious.

Like title, anyone having similar situation like that ??? 3 normal headset has been tested, basically the phone has something to do with that. Did factory reset and all stuff, nothing works.
There were lots of people suffering that with the same pattern as mine with just left earplug

Last option is to send the phone toward service, i really want to avoid that since i won't be in Australia for a while.

I had this happen to me.
I tried with two different headsets.
Turns out both headsets were broken and the phone was fine.
Maybe that's the case for you too.
Did you try a bluetooth handset? Anyway I know you are in complicated situation but in this case the best thing is send it back to repair via warranty.

I wouldn't be that sure.. I had the same problem, left audio channel didn't work in headphones. I tried 3 different headsets. That problem was in the phone. I've sent it to a repair centre and they replaced my while unit because they couldn't fix the issue. So I would send it in for repair with this problem. I know I did and got a replacement phone.
3 handset and all the same problem? 100% faulty device or jack, send it back to repair.

Could be, though i had this issue before with different devices and its always the headset
Of course i guess you can't discard the phone as a culprit
Maybe you should find a way to verify it for free before sending it in for repairs

Watch out with sticking a needle in the headphone jack! There's some special coating in it to make it waterproof! I guess that a needle can make destroy this coating!

Not entirely too late, at least it helped me.
Been trying to find a solution for this same problem and was beginning to think a repair was needed.
Just to confirm...with a needle, after clearing out a clump of fluff sound now plays through both earphones of the 5 different headsets that wouldn't work before.
For anyone else trying to fix this problem either now or in the future, its at least worth a try.
Thanks rvzek
I've noticed that my left earplug have lower volume than the right one. Did someone had this problem?
I cannot remember what caused this, but it's only on the Sony headset and not other. Others are working fine.
Hello
I'm really really frustrated.
I have an issue with my headphone jack. The sound from my headphone comes only from the left ear. I tried 4 different headphones and they all have the same problem.
I am on android marshmallow..
My phone still has warranty but I had a loooong story with the warranty company here in Canada.
The first issue with the phone's vibration.. The vibrating device was faulty and it made weird sounds.. So I sent the phone to be fixed because I'm covered by the warranty. After few weeks I received the phone with the same problem, so I talked to them and they told me to send it back to them.. After few weeks I receive a replacement but the replaced phone had the same problem and an additional problem.. The volume buttons were loose.. Very loose (apparently the phone that I have received is more faulty than the first phone).. I got really mad and I called them again and they told to send it back again.. (They are playing some kind of a sick game) so I've sent it back again. They called me and told me that the phone is water damaged and I'm no longer under warranty coverage... I did not believe what I heard.. I'm 100% sure that my phone did not go even near water.. Any way I got over it and received the phone today.. I upgraded the phone to marshmallow via adb and promised my self that I will never deal with this company again ... Tonight I wanted to listen to some music through my headphones but the sound is coming only through the left side... Apparently they managed to ruin my phone even more!
I'm really really really mad and frustrated..
I need Help !
