Audible 'Popping' sound coming from speakers - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought an HTC One a few months ago and am quite enjoying it, I recently installed CM10.2 and have come across this problem. Whenever the speaker turns on to play a sound, it makes a popping sound when the speaker turns off. It does this every time I press something like a menu on the device. People have suggested turning off beats audio but I cannot seem to find the menu for it in settings (but I could when I was on stock).
Any help would be appreciated

I don't think that CM has a beats audio option. I've only seen it in GPe based ROMs.

bump
I updated to the latest nightly and it still isn't fixed

[Q] Popping sound with Navigon on CM7.2RC1

Hello all,
I've been using CM7.1 and 7.2 Temasek's KANG for quite some time now, and it's working great.
I do have one annoying problem: when I use Navigon and enter a route, I get voice directions. After the voice stops speaking, you can hear the speaker being for a few seconds (hissing noise) and then the speaker shuts off. No problem there.
However, at random the speaker starts making (quite loud) 'popping sounds' at random intervals. The voice isn't trying to say anything at that time. Often it pops 3-4 times in a row, then it's quiet for several minutes.
If I use DSP Manger and select either option (enhance bass or the equalizer), then the 'popping'-sounds changes into a soft (old dial-up) modem-kind of sound. It's not very loud but you can hear it. It usually stops by itself, or it stops after so turn the volume up/down - and then it stops because of the 'beep' the speaker makes when changing the volume, not because of the volume change itself.
This does not happen on stock firmware. So it seems Navigon is 'leaking' sound somehow and with stock firmware that 'leaking' is just ignored and with CM it is turned into one sound (popping) or the other (modem-like). Since it can be affected with the DSP Manager, I'm also hoping there is some solution that can be applied or some work-around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you still have the problem - or found a solution for it?
Im using mapfactor navigator and get all 3-4seconds a noisy sound, sometimes also in other apps. Somewhere i read its because 2 apps are using the sound chip, but i don't know if the problem is caused by cyanogenmod 7.2 or hardware issue :/ Im using android since 6 days and the first i did was flashing cyanogenmod
No, I'm sorry, I haven't found a solution. It does seem to be related to CM 7.2 however, I didn't have this on stock.

[Q] Popping noise

On my second HTC One now.
I've noticed a popping sound that comes about after a period of quietness. It's the same whether beats is turned on or off. Can hear it after turning the system volume up/down, by opening up the music app, etc
Is this a software issue or am I going to have to take this one back as well?

Crackling/Popping sound from speakers

I bought my HTC One 9 days ago and I just now noticed this crackling/popping sound coming from the front speakers. I don't notice the sound unless I'm in a quiet environment. I especially noticed it when I'm navigating through the phone. I went ahead and googled it to see if anyone is having the same issue and I found this:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-one/272445-htc-one-speaker-popping-sound-print.html
So maybe the fix could be a software update. I tried turning off my BOOM sound but I have not payed attention to the crackling/popping noise after turning off the BOOM sound since its loud here at my work.

Some things that really annoy me about this phone

I've already mentioned the sound issue I'm having which I do believe I've got pinned down to be beats audio. I turn Beats Audio off it doesn't happen when I turn Beats Audio on it does happen and when I download a third-party equalizer it does happen so its a codec issue somewhere
number two would be the notifications. I'm running Viper ROM the latest and the notifications when I pull them down and touch one it either doesn't go to it or doesn't clear it. who would have thunk that when you tapped on a notification you wanted it cleared, alright enough of that one.
Number 3 if you have a third party lock screen on the phone you have to swipe twice to answer call I could just totally forget it this is an issue if the other two didn't happen.
Number four, and I can't even believe I'm calling this an issue but when I turn the volume of the sound not the ringer or the notifications, the volume of music, when I turn that, one notch above off, I want it to be super Dee duper quiet, but instead it's loud enough to fill the entire room. Granted, I love the fact this phone is a f****** power house when it comes to sound, but come on.
Nummer E. I can't for the life of me figure out how the f*** to change how long highlight reels are I want to make a highlight reel that's seven and a half minutes but it only makes a 30 second clip so I gotta make 9 30 second clips and splice them all together and then trim the 'filmed with HTC Zoe' out of the end and then make up for lost time god damnit just give me the f****** extended version already.

Atrix HD audio problem

I have been using Atrix HD MB886 -unlocked- in India for nearly an year now
But Since CM11 M7 build - i have been facing wierd battery drain and problems with Audio(earpiece, speaker and headset)
I then flashed factory image
MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886
and also got updated to
98.4.20.MB886.ATT.en.US (latest OTA)
But the audio problem is still there
Ever since, the speaker sound and all the system sounds, including ringtones, call volume, etc go off by themselves randomly, so I can't hear anything when the phone rings, If by chance I pick up a call while in this state, I can't hear a word the person on the other side utters, but that person does hear me clearly.
Restarting the phone, the sound works perfectly, until for some unknown reason it goes off, and I have to repeat the whole process.
Reading through forums on the web, some people who have had the same problems report improvements and some very few even report having obtained solution to this persisting issue after installing the app "SoundAbout" from google play store. But no use for me.
I have tried nearly all ROMS for Atrix by now - but no relief.
Any fixes., ????!!!!!
im having the exact same problem with my atrix. Tried multiple roms incuding flashing back to stock. I assumed it was a hardware issue but restarting the phone fixes it. Iv also noticed sometimes the sound comes back by itself after a while, even without a reboot. I played songs with the audio muted for a continuous 8hrs and the sound was fine all the while. Anyone else have the same issue or possible reasons what might be causing this..???
HW problem
Hi, this is most likely a hardware issue.
I had same problem sometimes. When I hit the phone, at the top (not furiously), it started working again.
Most likely loose connection with speaker terminals.
you can open it and pull the speaker connectors.
