Hello,
I do have the awful feeling that it may be bricked for good.
I don't have the specifics on how it came to be this way, but I hope you may help.
The only thing I'm getting on boot is the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
As you can imagine, there are no backups in kies.
If I try to boot into recovery all I see is an Android coming out of a box and the legend "Downloading".
I have tried to use oding v1.85 and it kind of sees the unit, the com port is recognized but nothing else.
Is there anything I can do to restore the OS on this tablet?
Any help is more than welcome.
Cheers.
What specific device do you have and what happens when you try Odin?

Hi JD,
The tablet is specifically a P7300, according to the changelog of Odin the v1.85 should be the correct one for it but I have found that with v1.83 I can see something.
I can see on the tablet screen: "Odin Download Mode \ (Protocol v3)"
Thanks,
Max Leön

Go to sammobile.com for the firmware for your device. You have to register but it's free. You'll download a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that file in odin, PDA. Only have auto-reset checked.

Hi again,
I did what you said and got the firmware for the p7300, using Oding with just the Auto-Reboot checked and setting the upload for PDA with the tar.md5 file, this is the output on Oding:
Code:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> P7300UBLP5_P7300ZTALP3_P7300UBLP4_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
Any ideas?
Cheers
Never mind, after 3 attempts the process ran successfully and seems that I have the tablet back.
Thank you very much for your help.
That's weird. It looks like odin never completed. I'd try it again. It should take about 5 plus minutes.
Your using Odin 1.83? I'd try 1.85. There also a 3.07.

are you sure that this is not the developpers version of the roms ? you should get the one here and try again :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901
Also choose the one with bootloader or you won't be able to start your phone.
Change your bootloader back to froyo version.
Use Odin 1.0. Connect the phone in download mode and hit Start without loading anything. Wait a few seconds until the program says: Done! Do this a few times if the process hangs.
Then flash some Eclair rom with repartition.
After that make a full hard reset *2767*3855#. Now I think your phone should be fine.
If you want to install Gingerbread again, flash the new bootloaders.

May i know what does it make to hit start whitout loading anything on odin 1.0 ?
I can hardly say what exactly does that intervention, but as far as I know it fixes some NAND flash problems on software bricked devices.

Are you sure you have enough memory on your PC? Odin may need much memory to check md5, i think nothing has changed on your sgs because Odin can't check the file hash.
Your computer memory can't cause such kind of a problem.
It's probably connected with the bootloader.

I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the bootloader. If he got bootloop, it's because odin found a pit, it partitionned the phone so there is no more rom in the phone, and then failed to hash the files and didn't flash. Can you link me where you downloaded your software ? Or try to go back on your working XXJVO ?
You need to repartition your device. In my opinion, it looks like the /system partition is too small. (Check pit file used) And wrong section. Please post in the Q&A Section in the future.

He doesn't got a bootloop. The phone just doesn't work. All you can do is to put it in download mode. That's it.
I had exactly the same problem with mine as described above. And yes, you should make a repartition along with the other stuff.
What software are you talking about?

Restart your computer and if running windows vista or 7 make sure you run Odin as an administrator and possibly even compatibility mode. I have had that problem before and a restart fixed it.

Try using the Odin version provided in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127249
It should restore to stock 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Not sure if being a UCKF1 poses a problem in your device or location, but I suppose it's worth a shot. Note that the rest of the instructions is to root the device, you don't need to do all those other steps. Just download the Odin One-Click, and try it out. Regards.

See the "Captivate Connection Issues and Download Mode Help" that is linked in my signature below.
If that does not help then...
Sounds like you are gonna need a JIG. See my signature link below for links to how to make one or where to buy one.
When you get back into download mode, you are gonna need to flash a Stock Firmware of your choice. There is a sticky thread in the Captivate Development Forum that you will need to see for those.
hi people,
So here is my issue, i rooted my tab after having it about a year and wanted to install a custom rom, installed RomManager from the market and installed the clockwork recovery mod, BUT i picked galaxy tab 10.1 when it asked me what phone i had, as there was no other option. I checked on google first and it seems other people with the 8.9 are using the clockwork recovery mod so i thought it was safe.
Now its dead and powers up to the samsung logo, and then dies again.
Help! (currently i am draining the battery as it is mentioned in another thread in this forum)
Thanks
(tried the APX thing in nvflash and it was a no go)

i highly recommend checking out nirogu325's guide for an explanation of ODIN. it should solve your problem

Power on the tablet, you may need to charge it.
As it is powering on hold down the power and the vol down button
Go into download, not recovery
Connect your tablet to your computer with the USB cable
Open up Odin
You should see box that says PDA, click there and it will want you to find a file. Choice the recovery file
Make sure the box that says partition or repartion are NOT check
then check start and wait. DO NOT touch or disconnect the tablet while it works

I know it doesn't make sense but keep trying to flash the rom. I've seen it not work for many tries and then it would for some reason. If odin recognizes the tab you are not hard bricked. You should be able to get it to operate again.

Well, I'm a complete noob, though I have a rooted ICS, I never tried to flash a ROM 'till now, but I really wanted to see JellyBean running on my phone.
What I did:
> Saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953847
> Downloaded the ROM
> I read the first step as "make sure you are on a (rooted ICS-ROM) or (JB-ROM with CWM recovery and brickfree kernel installed)" and not "make sure you are on a [(rooted ICS-ROM) or (JB-ROM with CWM recovery)] and brickfree kernel installed"
> Since I had a "rooted ICS-ROM" I continued to next step, copied he ROM, booted in recovery and did a FullWipe. Obviously, I didn't see the brickbug warnings which even a 5 year old with one eye :cyclops: would have seen.
> So, just to be safe I flashed abyssKernel 4.2 from ODIN via Download Mode (Volume Down + power + home)
> Now I have the yellow triangle and raised flash counter

you had just rooted ICS or root + safe kernel, I mean which kernel was there at the time you wiped.
another thing you didn't mentioned have you flash that ROM you have copied to SD or not
Your log still can't confirm brick, keep patience and reply to queries above
as well confirm your device was in download mode while flashing ROM with Odin as well ID com port was added in Odin (I can't see in log).

Actually, I'm not sure which kernel I had, I think I had either the default kernel or the AbyssKernel (I never used any other kernels)
I didn't flash the copied ROM
And yes, the device was in download mode while flashing stock ICS and ID:COM in odin turned yellow.
Do you remember how you had root ICS?
Anyway issue is not seems that, your device was not added
repeat procedure
Confirm you have installed Kies/Adb driver
Put device in download mode
connect device
ID com should turn yellow
select PDA for ROM file
Hit 'start' to flash

Tried, no result, still says low battery cant download :/
I think I should go to the service center then.
either charge the battery on a diff note or try a full charged battery
Samsung service centre had to replace my motherboard. Now it's alright.
I installed tablet metrics with xposed installer. Then I used my phone normally for a few days and it started...
The phone started to reboot without reason. It just went crazy. I couldn't use it. Every time it turned on, 15 secs later started to reboot again. So I tried to uninstall xposed installer but didn't work. After doing that, my phone didn't boot anymore. It stayed in the "samsung" part. Then I went to recovery mode and did all the wipes possible, wipe cache, wipe factory reset, etc. Did everything but one, format data. And didn't boot. And as a last hope I did format data.
I shouldn't have done that.
Now I don't know what to do. Need some help, please.
I have installed the TWRP recovery. When I try to reboot it says "no OS installed". There is no way to install from TWRP a new OS ?
If you don't understand me or want me to add some more information just put it in the comments.
I don't speak english very well as you might know. Sorry.

Does the size of downloaded firmware match the size written on the page when you start download? I think XXLPZ is one of the oldest FW, try LQL for example.

I've tried with XXLQUE and XXLPZ, gives me the same error. I will try with LQL when the download completes

Maybe your phone have some hardware issue, you told that it was rebooting every 15 seconds. Better go to some service centre.
