Hi all,
I have an Unlocked 32 GB (US) HTC One. I recently updated to 4.3 via OTA update. I've noticed some issues immediately after updating and would appreciate if people pooled in their issues so we can maybe sort this out. Or maybe it's just me!
1. The camera's low light performance has gone to s***. (Almost negligible purple noise to full of it).
2. The phone is taking considerably longer time to charge.
Will edit my post if I notice any more changes. Thanks!
UPDATE:
3. My proximity sensor is acting up. While in a call, when I take the phone away from my ear the screen doesn't always light up.
I confirm the camera got worse.
WIFI stops working after turning off and and on with mobile data usage in between.

See the difference.
EDIT: I haven't had any issues with Wifi yet. Just checked my Power History and the wifi seems to be working even with screen off. Any power saving apps perhaps?
This is hardware issue. You need to contact the custom service to request a replace

I was inclined to think that as well. But how come the performance dropped overnight? And right after the update.. Seems a bit coincidental.

The problem comes from ST and OmniVision, the camera sensor providers. I saw purple issues in Motor X as well, which also uses sensor from OmniVision.
After 4.2.2, HTC changed a bunch of camera drivers, making thousands of people suffering from this purple/red issue, which already existed before, but was not severe.
You can check the photo before the update again: purple in the edges and the colors a little bit weird.

Okay.. So assuming this adverse change is due to possible driver changes, will the camera go back to 'normal' if i undo my update? Assuming it's possible to go back to 4.1.2..

No use at all. I personally own a developer edition, as you can see in my signature. I bought it in May and suffered from purple/red issue after flashing a 4.2.2 rom. I then flashed back to original 1.29.1540.3 ruu and found out the issue was as severe as was on 4.2.2. The only way to solve this problem is to replace your camera sensor or to have your whole phone replaced. The latter solution is recommended.

Well that's kind of disappointing.. You see, I bought my phone in the US and I'm currently in India (HTC support is, well, not good). I'll be going to Canada in about 3 months, but I think I'll have issues claiming warranty on an American product elsewhere..
How can one fine out which camera sensor is in their mobile? I have no issue whatsoever in my Vodafone One, was fine with 4.1.2 and still fine now with 4.2.2, I have no purple tinge at all.
Would I be fine when Vodafone release 4.3 or best not to upgrade.. I'm still stock too, killed my last one by flashing recently

I'm afraid I don't know about identifying the manufacturer. If I were you, I'd stay off the update for a few weeks and see how it pans out.

Thanks. Its fine though as there is no update yet, Vodafone AU have only just made 4.2.2 available, will be a fee months I reckon as they were quite late with the last one..
4.3 is only for international unlocked phones so no update for atm

I traded my other phone for an AT&T HTC One today and I'm loving it! But I'm having an issue with the camera... No matter what settings I choose or how much I tap to focus, it's always blurry! The phone was rooted with twrp recovery and android revolution rom pre-installed, but I don't know if its bootloader unlocked or s-off... All I know is I went into twrp and wiped caches and data/factory reset and logged into all my accounts... The camera sometimes manages to focus and works, but the rest of the time it just stays blurry... Any thoughts? I attached a picture I just took of my headphones so you can see what I mean...
Looks like more of a hardware problem, I'd try to get it swapped.

Mine is the same . Started a thread as close up it's even worse .

My camera gets blurry only in pitch black environments where the flash lights up the photo but it's still very blurry, but I guess that's because focus isn't actually working when it's that dark - or at least I hope so. I'd go back to stock and get yours replaced under warranty, mate.
That was in light conditions about 20 cm away . Just will not focus close up .

Many phones got this problem even after sending it back to htc for fixing. Nobody really knows if its software or hardware sided.
I would recommend Nexus 5 instead. If you think that camera will be an issue than please don't take the risk. It's your hard earned $600 that you are spending. Go for the maximum utility, satisfaction. If low light camera capability is important for you, this phone is not worthy of a phone.
Written from a user who has this issue, and had no success in getting it fixed via HTC.

Bottom line this is the best phone ever made. Most cameras are fine just check everything out when you get the phone. 4.3 update is rolling out. Get a good case like Otterbox Commuter and a screen protector. Use Nova launcher. Here is my homescreen

to check you camera make a small (3-4 mins) full hd video and after try to take a picture on low light conditions
I bought my phone in May and by July it started developing the purple tint. While it's not guaranteed that you will get the purple tint, there have been lots of people who do.
Don't get me wrong. I still love my One especially for the Boomsound and LCD display. But I can live with the camera issues cos I use several phones concurrently so I just use another phone if I have to use the camera.
Ultimately it's your call. But my advice is pay extra for the warranty. Especially for this model. Cos if you start getting problems, without warranty you will have no recourse.

100% sure it's software, most phone I have had have had purple/pink or greenish tones in some circumstances which could be corrected with whitebalance settings. My one had purple pictures too after 422 upgrade but now is fine again after 4.3 but maybe not sensor are 100% the same and it might take a little more tweaking by htc to get it right. The One is the best arounfd 5 inch phone out there by a long shot, sense rocks, boomsound, I couldn't live without it anymore, zoes are awesome, the live gallery, blinkfeed. All in all the One is so much better than the SGS4, only if you wany a phablet I would consider another phone.....

Hi, why is my HTC one camera taking such bad photos in low light situations, it's like there is a cloudy affect over all the photos, the lens is clean and it's fine in normal light conditions, I've attached a few attatchments to show what they are like, I've tried searching the forums but no one seems to be having the same issues as me, is it a hardware fault or software issue? I had that exact sort of issue with purple wavy haze like yours (especially when the phone was warm it appeared to happen quicker) - basically check this forum for all relating to the camera tint issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507
I believe it to be a hardware issue, I managed to exchange mine for a september build which is better

Looking at both pictures the discoloured areas appear in the same place despite the pictures being taken with different views. This tells me there may be an issue maybe with the lens itself rather than the camera. Not a solution, but may help in figuring out your problem. I'm guessing you have tried cleaning the lens with a soft lint free cloth?

Yeah your right there, even when I move the camera the cloudy effect stays in the same part of the screen. Yeah ive tried cleaning the lense as well as I can with still no long. Seems to be an actual hardware issue, at least for me and some others. I've contacted HTC, they replied at first trying to do some software fixes, after determining its hardware, they want me to call some 800 number, I will tomorrow.
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42400071 had someone continuing to return theirs for service, until the camera module was replaced with one from sharp, then the issue was resolved.

like, the firmware update borked the hardware, and left it permanently damaged.

I'm about to buy the xperia z1 C6903.
I've read quite much in troubleshooting section...
First issue encountered was cracked display because of nothing, then the yellow tint issue, quite ahead the touchscreen problem and then after unlocking your bootloader the camera was no longer functional.
The seller told me that the phone will bring kitkat 4.4.4 on by the default.
Any suggestions? Advices? Are those problems related to building dates/zones/countries/ serial numbers? Thanks in advanced people.
Anyone? Come on guys.
I'm on my deadline to buy this phone, and can't get answers about it? ?
I'd say the chances of getting cracked display is pretty thin. My Z1 has the yellow tint issue (not that noticeable with the crappy viewing angle) but I bought this back in 2013, almost a year now so Sony have most probably fixed that issue with the newer batch, plus you can use white balance. Touchscreen problem is likely hardware related but some people have said that an update fixed it for them. Camera works with unlocked bootloader no problem now.

I bought my Z1 with 4.4.2 shipped last May, that is .757 FW. This is the top of my choice because of its awesome features. It has yellow tint, but can be calibrated with white balance, which is awesome. :good: Just the last update (.108) gave me crappy problems like random times, it doesnt follow what i touch. Only to fix is off the screen, then on. Already submerged in pools, not bent, no scratch. Of course i take care of it. Its your choice.

The z1 ima bout to get brings 4.4.4 right out of the box. I was impressed about that.
