he already answered your question
IMO (and I have returned re-locked handsets without question) you should be fine.
Relock and return the faulty unit, regardless of any claims made that you voided warranty by unlocking bootloader if the device is defective you have an un-deniable right as a consumer to warranty. Good luck.

Well that's a dumb idea. It most likely won't work.
Probably the best solution is to call your local Sony help center or even better write them an e-mail since some people asked and the answer varies between countries/warranty centres. If they say it does void the warranty ask them if they can replace it (the should be able to) and if it doesn't write them an e-mail for confirmation (in case later on they change their answer).
Here in Singapore, one of us emailed sony.sg and asked about the ASF, they said that removing ASF doesn't void the warranty
Sent from my C6603 using voldemort's nose
i think it's depending on the country and its laws, and the type of demage you want to get warranty for.
i guess warranty won't be void if your cpu will be defect. what has removing the ASF to do with a burned cpu??
but if you drop your phone and the screen cracks...they will say "no warrenty because of removing the ASF".
So I am on mj5 and I want to brick it so I can do warranty exchange... If I odin to mi5 will it brick it so if I take it to att support shop they will replace it? Will they give you a new phone or a refurb phone?

different reps will handle the same situation differently, one may replace it with less fuss than the other depending on what they know and what state you bring it back in.
why are you exchanging it, is it really bricked? is there something else wrong with the phone? is it rooted? these things will help determine what state you may want to leave your phone in when you walk through the door.
It's currently rooted with kingo but I think you can unroot it and it will get rid of the custom padlock ... I dropped it once at home but the silver rim is starting to chip off

Sooooo here are the options. IF you can get rid of the custom Padlock screen and remove root you can either Bootloop Soft brick ( though soft bricks are hard bricks for us right now ) or you can Brake the firmware and leave it in a Firmware has Encountered an Error screen. whichever one you feel more comfy explaining on your end as to how this occurred for the warranty claim.

I could not, it would recognize the device but never connect to transfer files.
I'll be pleased if they deny your claim and cite the accidental damage as the cause. Buy a case or insurance next time.
I do have insurance and case and screen protector since day 1

Hi,
I am using JB 4.1.2 by szezso.
Everything work but my phone reboots automatically without me even touching it.
That happens quite often.
Any reason?
Thanks,
Arslan
This may be a little late post, but I found some papers in my HTC incs box...
It showed me this: auto-reboot issue...
The phone was still under warranty back then and has been replaced with another one...
I guess, if you still have warranty left... Just relock ur phone and bring it in... Or sell it as defect and buy a new one if u want...

My Advice: Change ROMS.

Only is possible and free in Spain: http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=396318
It's for t mobile. And also do you know if they make water proof cases for the z?

Waterproof cases? What does that even mean? The phone itself is waterproof, if water breaches the case then nothing will happen to the phone.
I have a cracked screen and camera and I want to bring it in to get repaired, is it a good idea to make my phone stock before I bring it in?

Basing this answer off of what I read, yes. Although there are successful cases of people not doing anything at all when giving it to Sprint to repair, it is in your best interest to do it anyways in case they find out that your warranty is void. If you're handing it over to HTC, it is a must.
Alrighty, thank you!
