Well that's a dumb idea. It most likely won't work.
Probably the best solution is to call your local Sony help center or even better write them an e-mail since some people asked and the answer varies between countries/warranty centres. If they say it does void the warranty ask them if they can replace it (the should be able to) and if it doesn't write them an e-mail for confirmation (in case later on they change their answer).
Here in Singapore, one of us emailed sony.sg and asked about the ASF, they said that removing ASF doesn't void the warranty
Sent from my C6603 using voldemort's nose
i think it's depending on the country and its laws, and the type of demage you want to get warranty for.
i guess warranty won't be void if your cpu will be defect. what has removing the ASF to do with a burned cpu??
but if you drop your phone and the screen cracks...they will say "no warrenty because of removing the ASF".

Hey everyone, I have a question. Under your batteries, towards the bottom left, do you have a sticker that has Xs all over it? I thought it was white originally :s but I know I haven't gotten it wet. So ... Is it supposed to be full of Xs?
Here's a picture
Thanks!
I do not have this or any sticker in this area!
Yep its there and has x all over it. Looks like a warranty void sticker possibly over a screw

I think its to do with water damage. I have it also on mine. The x will change colour when in contact with water or high moisture. Its to do with warranty.

Thanks!!! It scared me for a moment. I thought that I had already voided my warranty but I knew I hadn't gotten it wet! But still, good to know!
I tried looking at some unboxings and none of them had the sticker. So I didn't know what to think. The first thing I did was look at my battery to see if it had come off of that xD haha.
Thanks though!
Um...does everyone have this?
Dont have it
I don`t have anything there.
It will turn pink or red when wet, and that's classed as liquid ingress, it means you don't have a leg to stand on, void warranty.

Hello all .. I have a problem with my xperia z. I dropped it in pool and got water damaged and stuff. I put it in rice for 5 days. Now the problem is that the power button isnt functioning well. VOLUME UP key opens Snapshot dialogue box which is supposed to be open ny long press power button. Speakers work but they stop after 5 mimutes then ipress volume up button them they start working again. Can any body tell me what exactli is wrong with my XZ ?? Is is the software or hardware.. I think its hardware. I want some good suggestions on what should i do. Thanks in advance guys.

Send it for repair. That is the only course of action for water damage if drying the phone out thoroughly hasn't worked.

But we dont have sony repair support in out country. So you think its a hardware issue right??

Yes. As I recall from your previous thread about this, you powered the phone up after water got in, so it's highly likely that something is permanently damaged.

I doubt you would want to apy at the rates they charge. When I wanted to replace my screen on my arc they gave me a crazy estimate of over a £100. Just turn phone off open all flaps and leave it to dry for a few weeks.

So I decided to take my awesome waterproof phone to the beach and I took amazing photos however, there is sand inside the power button! I hear and feel the crunch when I press it, also some inside the volume keys, I've searched online and I can't find any answers...no surprise there but if I was to send my phone off to Sony would they repair my phone as its under warranty? I am afraid they will reject it because its not "Sand proof"
Please help
I am running a custom ROM but if Sony do accept to repair it, it won't be a problem to revert it back to stock.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
It is supposed to be "Dust proof".
But the User guide clearly states "No swimming", "No sand", "No sea water", so...
Damn! So I presume if I were to send the phone to repair they will tell me its not covered under the warrenty?
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Most likely your problem is qualified as misuse, those reparations are not covered by warranty.
Ahhh no! Well this sucks, thank you anyway, I'm going to talk to Sony in the morning, see what they say but I'm sure they'll tell me what you've just told me

he already answered your question
IMO (and I have returned re-locked handsets without question) you should be fine.
Relock and return the faulty unit, regardless of any claims made that you voided warranty by unlocking bootloader if the device is defective you have an un-deniable right as a consumer to warranty. Good luck.

Hello everybody, i droped my xperia z1 and now two corners have a dent on the aluminium part. Is this easy to replace? Prices? Any help is apreciated. Thanks on advance
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Probably you are the richest guy on XDA to think to replace the aluminum frame. Sorry for my answer, I try to be polite but your question is useless. Is not easy at all and probably nobody will do that, it will cost you more than a new phone. You have to keep the phone like that now. To be sure just go to the store when you brought the phone and ask them. The last chance, if you can't live with the aluminum frame scratched, sell it and buy a new one.

Yep that can be an issue, if some glue broke off or something, be careful
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
better send it to sony center for repair... frame dents normally compromises water proofing... repairing it your self will definitely compromise water proofing...
