Hello,
I'm pretty newbie when dealing with phones, yet pretty good with PCs in general. Which throws me off is mainly term used which means nothing to me. So I'll be as blunt as possible:
how can I reinstall my Samsung Galaxy Ace? Like a fresh install... I tried to do various things with it, ended up by installing jellybean 4.0 and not sure where but it went wrong but it doesn't boot now. I can enter PX-Recovery window, use all rooted functions. Best result I had was when device was booting after "installing a rom from sd card" was a blue screen when loading or just bright screen like the device is on yet nothing else.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can flash a fresh stock rom using Odin 4.38
Follow this guide
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145?
Here you have a useful Q&A Thread (How to get Root + CWM 5.0.2.6 Fixed, flash a stock rom, and many more...)
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42293402
I was digging that thread and I couldn't find any working links. That thread led to few others websites/threads which also had OPS + Odin links thought they were useless too because none of the download links worked..
Any idea where could I get those OPS files from? I've managed to find Odin 4.38, now I only need the OPS.

Shouldn't the zip contain all the OPS files that I would need to input in Odin?
Extract previously downloaded firmware
Open ODIN 4.38 on your PC and change OPS file name to
Cooper_v1.0.ops
Select from extracted archive: OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-MODEM, PDA-CODE, CSC-CSC (leave EFS and One Package empty)
If archive contains only <filename>.tar.md5 select it as PDA and OPS as OPS, leave other fields EMPTY

Kies doesn't wanna start when the phone is plugged yet starts with no device found and Odin says "Please connect phones !!".
I did format /system... could that be the cause?

No.
Restore a backup if you want and enable USB debug mode, unistall Kies, re-install Samsung drivers and try again using Odin.
You can try changing the USB port too (even using other PC, if you can [friend, brother, father...])

i installed emanoN rom v7 a few months and reverting back to stock rom downloaded from samfirmware.com for some reasons
now i again flashed cyanogenmod 10.1 by rohan007(no doubt, its a great rom) :good: about a week ago
but it is too much for my mini to handle that....ram usage is always above 200 mb(why its said that mini has 384 mb ram while we get only 280 )
so i want to revert back to that stock rom which i dowloaded
but when i try to install from sd card-->choose file-->s5570ddkq7_ddkq6_INU
i get something like
e:/s5570_ddkq6_inu
(bad)
Installation aborted
WHY :crying: it worked earlier
PS: i tried from different microSD cards and copied for around 3 times to the microsd card

To root use "universal gingerbread root v.2.5"
I've tested with XWKTN ROM and all works fine.
Btw, test "chocobread" or "democracy" ROM's. Inmo they are good looking with good performance.

Open the ZIP (extract) in your computer. If you have 4 md5 files you need to flash using the 4 files method
If you have only 1 md5 file you need to flash using the 1 file method.
This is how you flash stock firmware, modded is flashed from SDcard using CWM.

thanks mate for the info...there is a single .md5 file so i tried to flash using odin...but that odin is not detecting my phone
i think that my pc has all the drivers installed in it because i have the latest kies and usb mass storage, and usb tethering are working fine
odin worked when i first flashed my rom (emanoN v7)...but now its not working
any other alternatives please..!!!
you need to put the phone in download mode.
With the phone OFF, hold "volume down" + "power" + "home" untill you see the "download mode" screen.

Just remove any model name from ops file & then place it in OPS field.
Remember, odin detects ur phone through the ops file..., no matter whether it's physically connected to pc or not (at that instant).
Disable kies b4 Starting.

take a look here, they are the original samsung firmwares and they come in zipped files - www.sammobile.com/firmware/
secondly i think i found the problem....in devices and printers- when i connect the phone it automatically shows "MSM7x27" unspecified device
u are missing drivers for it
i troubleshooted the problem and searched and installed many drivers for it but still no luck
when you will open the zip you will see tar files
ok lets be on the topic this means you have not installed tar files
download Kies latest version and install it
close it completely
open Odin and select files
boot mobile into download mode and connect it (do this after opening odin)

Hello,
I've a "non commercial" version of a GTab 8.9.
This tab is running by default Android 3.1. I would like to update to Android 4.0.4. Kies doesn't want indicating my tablet doesn't support the update (i don't know it was 4.0.4 version or another)
I tried to use the standard : Odin + the new firmware. The tablet is unlocked and rooted.
Each time that I tried I get the error : "can't nand write" :-/ I tried all current stuff to fix this issue : change cable, PC, odin version (1.83, 1.85, 3.07, 3.09). I tried to change recovery with succss
but impossible to change rom. I found a link on tsar dot com (sorry I'm too young here to post link) to reformat tab and I put the pit file : this has worked....but now : i can't access to the recovery. I can only open the download mode...but I can't do anything and I don't have others files described ont the following link

Thanks for your reply. I tried this first but it didn't work because when I want "start" with the good firmware (7300), the md5 check works but that's all. When odin want write boot.img or other file, i get an error "Can't write" and odin stops.
As this method didn't work I try with the tsar dot com solution. Hoping that's can help me.

I've a similar issue in /data partition (it can't be writtable after a try to flash with Odin from a virtual machine) and I fixed it with the PIT file to repartition, reflash stock firmware and then a wipe/factory reset from stock recovery (I think it did a format)...
I try to put pit file. It's works as I told in my first post. But I can't flash the firmware with a standard stock rom (apparently). Can you tell me tools and roms that you used to fix the issue exaclty ?

What I remember is Heimdall doesn't work with my P7310 and it don't let me do anything.
Anyway, plug into a Windows machine running Odin 1.85 (I think this version it's fine) your tab, press 10 seconds UP and power button and see if your tab is detected. In that case try to flash stock package again.
Some time ago it happened to me with a Galaxy Ace phone, when phone is booting screen was off but the phone enters into download mode anyway and you could flash whatever you want.
A last shot for you could be disassemble your tab and pull off battery. Wait some minutes and then pull on again. Try to start in download mode with tab plugged into your computer. If you don't have enough knowledge to disassemble your tab (and I can assure you of that it's not easy) maybe you need to bring it to Samsung support.

Ok, so I don't know what could happen when I tried it, I think last time was in 2012 or maybe early 2013...
I tried upgrading my international N7000 to CM10.3 following the instructions in
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_n7000
but now the phone won't even boot into the recovery, all it shows is
Samsung
GALAXY Note
GT-N7000
/ \
/ | \
/--*-\
When i tried flashin from my Mac iusing Heimdall,
the download finished on the mac, but on the N7000
it still showed the blue line etc. I waited a lng time and tried
rebooting, but got the above.
Re-flashing in Heimdall had no effect.
I then tried flashing
hardcore-speedmod-ics-recovery-n7000.tar
using Odin 3.185 from my VMwars Fusion XP install,
and that seemed to finish ok, but no luck either.
I looked for the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery, but I cannot find any
odin-flashable format for it, and of course I cannot use the sdcard
as I cannot even boot into any recovery as is.
Can anyone suggest next steps?

1st things 1st. Why would u use heimdall or odin? And what is your current ROM before trying to flash CM 10.3, was it stock? You should have looked for CWM recovery or Philz safe kernels as base when doing ROM flashing ESPECIALLY custom roms. From what you said, then can you still boot into download mode? I have no knowledge of heimdall so just download Stock Firmware, flash it with odin and see if you can boot your N7000 first.
The worst case scenarios is you are experiencing emmc bug-brick. go to the thread and read carefully to deduce your type of 'brick' and find solutions there. Good Luck.
I was on a stock 4.0.4 (but rooted). I originally tried flashing the cwm from the sd card, but after starting to load it it also just hung,
so I looked for an alternative..
I found a post on stockroms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997) but the links all point to hotfile.com. which my browser says it cannot find. is hotfile dead? Is there an alternative?

I'm sorry so did u succeed or did you not succeed in installing the custom rom? If your custom rom boots fine then all u need is to search for solving status 7 error thread. My advice to all noobs is to always try n avoid installimg anything except stock rom in odin. Always read and re read before flashing anything that's beyond your knowledge. Basic knowledge of flashing cusroms is :
1. ALWAYS make sure you're on SAFE and COMPATIBLE KERNEL. Most rom threads ALWAYS Include threads/links to a specific recovery/kernel to use. Read n RE READ that.
2. Wipe everything IN RECOVERY mode before flashing a rom.

If you're able to boot up properly n prompted to wipe, then do it. But do it in recovery not on device.
Ok, I downloaded one of the stock kernels for my internatinal N7000, but flashing that with Odin 3.185 hangs about 3/4 through (has now been
sitting there for >60 mins).
Looks like I am screwed?
The file I found is KIES_HOME_N7000XXLT4_N7000OXALT4_1103517_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
I f I wanted to try flashing this with Heimdall, I'd need to know partition numbers I think
Where can I get those?
Or should I get another file?

Before that, do u have KIES installed? KIES is NOT compatible with odin and will cause potential trouble. So is some firewall and antivirus apps. You need to disable all of them before using odin. Please search the thread http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ for stock rom site.

Ok. I downloaded two stock roms from sammobile:
[email protected] 1 mathias staff 808649674 May 9 10:53 N7000XXLT5_N7000MBCLT1_MBC.zip
[email protected] 1 mathias staff 750466356 May 9 10:50 N7000XXLRL_N7000OXELR5_MBC.zip
but both fail with some (unreadable, apparently character set issue) error under ODIN.
I found this:
http://droidangel.blogspot.sg/2012/01/samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-all.html
which shows how to do a full flash , including PIT file, but the links again go to hotfile which seems to be down.
http://hotfile.com/dl/140099962/b9e0d63/Q1-20110914_16GB.pit.rar.html
Where can I get a) separate
CODE_N7000xxxxx_CLxxxxxxx_REVxx_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_N7000xxxxxx_REV_00_CLxxxxxx.tar.md5
GT-N7000-CSC-MULTI-xxxxxx.tar.md5

Of course you fail... When using ODIN, U should have downloaded the .tar. if you downloaded a zip. then unzip it first to get the tar file, then you flash it with odin. All requests are included in the stock.tar And PLEASE DO NOT Play with PIT files if you don't know what you are doing.
So now what you need to do is. :
1. DISABLE KIES (Uninstall it better), Your firewall, antivirus.
2. Install CORRECT Samsung USB driver. (Search keyword "download samsung N7000 usb drivers")
3. Unzip your zip file and extract the tar.file.
4. Run ODIN as Administrator (Right click/run as)
5. Go to download mode. connect your device to Pc/laptop.
6. Wait until Odin detects your device, click AP/PDA and choose the tar file you extracted.
7. DO NOT tick partition.
8. Let it run
Of course I unzipped the zip to get a SINGLE .tar.md5, but flashing that fails on factoryfs about 3/4 through. consistently.

Try updating your odin. Use the newest vers. And try and read this https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNGd2e3iG5hkDeo0KyAjGuCSfQSLUw . If All fails then it's a confirmed SUPER-BRICK and there's nothing except samsung service centre can help you now... Sorry for not being able to help more..

Hi, I am having issues getting the TWRP v2.7.0.0 on my Samsung S3 Mini. If it matters I have AT&T and KitKat 4.2.2 on my phone. Below are the steps I have taken so far.
1) Used the one step root here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459910
2) Downloaded TWRP v2.7.0.0 because from the forums I have read that is the latest version for the s3 mini - http://novafusion.pl/
3) I tried using Odin3 v3.07 and failed. I tried saving both the TWRP zip file and the recovery.img as a .tar (otherwise odin cannot recognize it) then ran it through Odin... still failed. I tried booting into stock recovery and flashing the zip file and the img file separately.
I noticed someone on page 11 of the follow forum had the same issue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678274)... but I am not able to comment on his questions do to me being a new user. Also there didnt seem to be a solution listed on that thread.
Has anyone had this problem? Or can someone send me a thread that has a solution? I appreciate all the help and advise!

Thanks for your quick response and help but unfortunately this did not work. I tried doing exactly what the instructions said. Downloaded the Odin3 v3.04 and the "GT-I8190_TWRP_2.7.0.0.tar.md5.zip" which I extracted only once. I ran Odin as and administrator too and it failed every time. I even tried it with Odin3 v3.07. Any other ideas? Thanks again!

Also what are Kies? I did a factory reset before my attempt to flash TWRP... I hope that would remove any kies.

no it doesn´t. Go to settings - Apps and stop Kies before booting in download mode and flashing the custom recovery (downloadTHIS ONE, unzip it to get a .tar.md5 file and flash it with Odin - follow the steps in the post)
After that reboot again to download mode, make a factory reset, and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Then flash the ROM with Odin.
Good luck

I just tried what you said. I could not find anything that allowed me to stop kies under my settings -> applications. The only Kies option I found was under settings -> Connections -> Kies via Wi-Fi. I am not currently on WiFi or have any Kies connected to my computer. I googled how to stop kies and saw that if debugging is on, kies will stop. I have already had the debugging box checked previously. So, I used the zip from the thread you sent me and tried it again. I followed the the instructions exactly and it still fails just as before. I really do appreciate all the help. It would be great if I could get this working.

None of it will work. These files you're trying is for i8190. You have a sm-g730a with completely different hardware and locked bootloader.
I know there is root method for it, but that's all.

Youre right... I just looked under settings -> more -> about device and it says the device name is SAMSUNG-SM-G730A. So do you not think my original root worked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2459910 )? It seemed like it did. I am also using ROM Manager but cant utilize it because I do not have TRWP or CWM. Doesn't my phone have to be rooted to use an app like that? Does anyone know if there is either TWRP or CWM for the SM-G730A model?

Link not working but you can use a root checking app to see if you got full root.
I don't think there is any custom recovery yet. I know some users have tried to build one, but I'm unsure of how far they went.
There is a few threads about it both in general and q&a section. Just search for it.
Hi, after a failed rooting my s3 blocked, i tryed to put on the I9300XXALE8_I9300ITVALE7_ITV (i'm from italy), but now is blocked on the Samsung logo. Also when i go in download mode it says
Odin mode
Product name : GT-I8190
Custom binary donwload : YES (17 counts) (ye i tryed 17 times to fix it)
Current binary : custom
System status : Official
So i have some questions : Can i send it to assistance and they can repair it (with warranty)? , should i try to re download the I9300XXALE8_I9300ITVALE7_ITV file? ( i tryed with 3 versions of odin, with 2 of them it says : failed, with the newest it says : pass but it blocks on Samsung logo)
Or there is something other that i can do?
(sry bad english)
Are you flashing a i9300 firmware to a i8190?
No wonder why it doesn't work.

+1 Just find the ROM you want to install here http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-I8190 then download and flash this http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip and finally go and install this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu (or update if you have it installed after you flash the file above). I can root any phone with this simple method
NOTE : It doesn't matter which country you're from, you can flash any firmware you like, so why not be it the latest one available for your device (ANF3 at the moment)? You can still change language to Italian after flashing so there's really no difference between regions

I've never rooted a phone so I was just wondering how to do it like this? I've read some guides but it's really unclear still, one that I tried simply didn't work (the one where you flash CWR with Odin as the first step). Can you/someone tell me how to do this exactly, please? This is what I'm thinking atm:
1) If I already have the latest version I'm happy with, do I still need to download that version again or can I just go ahead with the SuperSU flashing part?
2) How do I in practice flash the SuperSU zip file? I currently have Odin v.3.0.7 and Minimal ADB and Fastboot installed on my PC. Thanks for any help!

If you don't have the latest firmware on your phone, download it from the link I gave (it's a .md5 file). Now go to Developer Options in your phone's settings and tick USB Debugging. Power off your phone. After that enter download mode on your phone by pressing power+volume down+home button while turning it on. You'll see a big message on your screen saying "Downloading, don't unplug target". Now plug your s3 mini into the pc and start Odin. Select PDA and find the .md5 file from before. Make sure that f.reset time and re-partition are unchecked and then press start. Once it's done odin will say "pass" and your phone will reboot. Congrats, you now have the latest firmware on your s3 mini
Now in order to root it, you need a custom recovery so let's go
On Google search "TWRP 2.7.1.1 Android-Andi xda" and download it from the attachments of his post (it's a .md5 file again). Again turn off the phone and enter Download Mode like before. Now do the same steps with Odin as the first time (with the firmware), but this time select the TWRP.md5 file instead of the firmware one in PDA section of Odin. Make sure all the options on the left are ticked/unticked exactly like the first time and hit Start. The "Pass" message should be displayed and the phone should reboot.
Congrats, you now have the latest TWRP Recovery on your s3 mini
And the last step - rooting it
Download the SuperSU.zip from the link in my post and copy it to your device's memory (internal or external). Now in order to enter Recovery Mode you need to turn off your phone and turn it back on by holding the power+volume up+home buttons until you see a "TeamWin" message on your screen. This recovery is touch based so just select install, choose the SuperSU.zip file and flash it. Reboot the phone.
Now you're rooted and on the latest firmware arty:
For future updates do the same. Just change the firmware .md5 file with the latest one available. The rest is the same xD
Man, I got tired ...
