Hello I live in philadelphia USA I bought a z1 from Craigslist brand new unfortunately it's my own fault but I had my phone on charge it fell and was hanging from the wire and it manages to rip off the flap now it's lost I need a new flap is it possible to get one they don't have the phone here Sony said they can't fix it due to not being released here any ideas?
Try amazon, or any UK based phone websites.
But it should be released in US soon and then you can get parts
I did quite alot of looking the only thing I found that might work is the dummy phones it was 10 dollars I emailed them on ebay to see if the flap was able to come off

Called sony
I called sony parts and after being ****ed around to a third phone number that I had to call they quoted me $80 to replace one stupid freaking flap. I think it's worth just being careful with you phone for the time being. That was not including the postage to get it there qld -> nsw. And they mentioned they would do a pressure test to make sure it's water resistant again. Does anyone know if you can just get a life case similar to the iphones case?

But it's not even water proof, it's water resistant
You're right though I'm probably the only one who would buy it. I am notoriously terrible with phones.

How could you broke that flaps, mate.
I have tortured my Xperia S for over a year and my flaps are still great...
It's very hard to broke that
But, please, when you fix flaps, could you post a little tutorial so if we broke ours we should know where to buy it and how to replace them
Tnx

Guys lost my USB flap today in the morning, purple Color... I should get it online. Hope this link will help you and I will get dock charger for sure..http://www.parts4repair.com/sim-cover-usb-cover-sd-cover-for-sony-xperia-z1-l39h-purple/
I bought the magnetic charging dock as I'm scared to end up losing the usb port cover. Hope it helps.

I tried to get the part inside the phone out, but it seems that it got really deep. How did you got yours part out of this hole?
These flaps are way too weak, my phone is Three weeks old and the USB flap already feels loose and opens up a little after a while of being closed
I should have bought a dock or that whatever cable

Just push it inside and fit new one - should do no harm
Thanks. I was trying to get it out and in the end I've cut everything of it but the thick part in the phone
Good thing you have posted this or else I'd still try to get it out since I'll be waiting about 20 days for the replacement to arrive. Duh, I paid 4$ for international shipping to Poland which is one of the countries that are somewhere in the middle of the earth ^^.

yeh I had my Z1 dismantled a couple of days ago fitting a new screen so pushing it inside shouldn't present any problems at all

Hi all.
THe xperia V in question is about 6 months old, and unfortunately the O ring rubber seal on the back of the charge port door has started to perish. It's cracked, and as such is floppy and causing the charge port door to be difficult to close well.
Have tried to look for sites on Google that might carry just that part to no avail.
Unfortunately I'm from Aus, bought the phone in Singapore and am in the Philippines for work, and the invoice is with the box, at home somewhere.
Any help on this is appreciated.
Happened to me. I sent it for repair. Cost me nearly 200 Singapore Dollars because apparently it's wear and tear for them and they don't allow the use warranty.

Really? They made you pay for repairs of something they know will be used a lot, each time you charge (once a day) and each time you need to connect it to the computer. They better not tell me it's wear and tear if this happens to my V. It is a design flaw if the seal gives out so fast. Sony designs a phone with a little door that will be used a lot, they better design it with that in mind if not it's a design fault. Thank God I'm in Europe where we enjoy proper warranty and consumer protection.
Under regular usage, my charging flap broke off. I went to T-Mobile and they said I would have to pay $175 to fix it! Anyone have an idea of how I can get it fixed, or will I just not be waterproof anymore

Did you lose the flap? Or do you still have it? If you have it, did you just rip it out of the hole? Or did the piece that goes between the flap and the whole break? I've caught mine and pulled it out like 3 or 4 times, but I've always been able to get it back in with some effort.

I've seen others have this issue and say that calling Sony got them to send them a free replacement, only for the Z1s (not the Z1) though...

tough luck there mate,
TBH i wouldn't call that a charging port either that would be the micro usb port,
ive used it all but 4 times myself when i first rooted my phone,
u use a maglock charger or use the dock, as the usb port isnt made for everyday use
thats why they put the charging dock in the box when you buy it
it also charges faster through the dock/maglock than via the usb
id just push the port back in and get a maglock charger or use your dock
Not everyone got a free dock with their phone.

Yup. I didn't get a dock with my Z1.
My flap also broke off. I bought the replacement for ~10$. Plastic part is still inside though. Since my glass on the back broke off I called service that is authorised by Sony (so I won't lose warranty for repair) and they put a reasonable price for back glass replacement. 250PLN. It's not crazy high, but isn't a 6pack. I asked how much will cost the replacing of the flap if I provide the replacement part along with the regular cost of the flap replacement and the woman on the phone said that that'll be free.
Ask about the price if you provide a replacement.

this can help you, some1 here bought it and even showed that they are waterproof too
I guess I'm getting a dock now. I have tmobile as well and if they charge for this kind of stuff, I'd rather just pay the $10 and get a dock.
I broke my flap as well..feel asleep on the phone while it was charging. Got a replacement from witrigs website.
However, a small piece of plastic was left inside and I used a pin to take it out..wasn't as easy as I thought...the hole is really small...and my pin wasn't as thin as I'd like.
Putting the replacement was easy..used the same pin to just push it in lol

How long did it take you to receive it?
My flap just broke off tonight, I plan to call Sony in the morning to order a replacement.. Just trying to see how long of a wait I'm looking at. My phone looks ugly on that side now, ugh.
I had a piece stuck in there just like you, had my wife get it out with a sewing pin (thanks to your advice).
Lesson learned, once Sony confirms they're sending me a replacement flap I plan to order the official Sony charging doc for the Z1 (everyone I've heard talking about it says it does indeed fit the Z1s) from their site.

Hi guys.....i love my zr but really disappointed with absence of accessories for it.
There are qi charging pads and accepters on aliexpress for 10 bucks a set... NOT FOR OWR PHONES of course.
I can fit in one inside of the rubber seal area and connect it with small wires to the battery.....
The question is.....have anyone tryed it before?

I wouldnt recommend forcing the pad under the battery door. If you look under there youll notice that the waterproofing works by letting the rubber gasket fall into a channel; if you add something thatll push the gasket away from the channel, it might be enough to let water in.
I actually just got my wireless charging pad for the Note 2 in the mail today. I'm planning to adapt it to my Xperia ZR but in a different way. I plan to put it between my phone and case, and connect it thru the docking connectors on the side of the phone. Ill update you with photos when im done if it comes out alright. Right now im just worried about how Im gonna get it to sit right without covering the flash.

Okay heres my update: i did what i was planning to; unfortunately its not incredibly elegant.
I used a charging pad for note 2 which i bought on ebay. The copper tips i used as pins for the charging pad were a bit bigger than they should have been so my case is a little warped on that side. Also the pressure from the case makes the pins not have great contact with the phone so it takes little fidgeting to get it to start charging. Besides that though it works fine. I set it on the wireless charger at night and the phone is at 100% in the morning.
This weekend im gonna redo the soldering of the pins with some slightly smaller ones and see if i can make it... prettier.
The only thing to keep in mind is that +5v is the pin closest to the top of the phone and gnd is the bottom one. I also had to modify the charging pad to g3t the flap to come out higher up from the pad, otherwise I would have had to cover the flash.

Yet another update. I tried to make it more elegant by reducing the thickness of the pins but to no avail. Doing this mod with a tpu (flexible plastic) case was a waste of time since theres no way to keep pressure on the pins and make the case sit flush.

What about glueing the connector to the phone? With this solution no pressure from the plastic case is required I guess...
I have a case on my phone, but I noticed recently the flap to the SD card and USB port isn't clicking shut. I mean, it'll click shut, but then it pushes itself out again. It's cheaper for me to replace the door than to get another $20 case that provides cover support to this port.
Which vendors sell the updated port cover that prevents this issue? I found one vendor, here: http://www.witrigs.com/oem-micro-sd-sim-usb-port-cover-flap-for-sony-xperia-z3-compact-black
Sony store sells it. In malaysia, it costs around us$7 for 1 flap

I've had to replace mine about 4 times now. The seal just doesn't cope if you open and close the flap a lot.
I get mine from Amazon. They're normally only a few bucks and come in a lot of different colours.

My z3c has the same issue. The rubber seal detached from the flap itself after some use and the loose piece (the rubber seal) prevented the cover from a complete close.
I blame Sony for not having a better design/quality considered it is the cover of the charging port. IMO, It should be able to sustain usage on a daily basis.
I'm looking into the possibility of gluing the rubber seal in place with rubber cement or contact cement. Replacement flaps cost around $5/pc. Would hate to replace flap every couple months.
I don't care for waterproofness anyway as I don't use it underwated, so I just peeled away the rubber seal from the flap and put the flap back in its place, the replacement costs here around 5€ if I'm right, but as of now, I don't need it.
If you need to use your phone underwater, then buy a replacement part, otherwise it can be used without seal.

You can buy them from eBay or Amazon at about 7 or 8 bucks a piece, of course don't expect it to hold up against water compared to the original one Sony put in it.
So yeah, the unthinkable happened. I literally threw my phone out of the window while trying to use Google pay. Not my proudest moment. Ended up cracking the bottom of the back glass. I've heard stories of Samsung replacing broken devices within the first few days of purchase. I bought it yesterday. I saw a replacement back for 40$ on eBay. I ordered a dbrand as well. Not sure if I should just sell it at a loss or try if I could get a replacement from Huawei.
What do you guys think my best options are?

The quality looks close to the original one, plus you unglue that one and stick this on top after cleaning the remaining glue.
