How to Get to Home Screen With Pen - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Doing some research the Note 2 had a bunch of gestures you could draw with the pen, a "<" for going back, or drawing from top to bottom to go home. I am trying to find a way to get to the home screen without pressing the home button. Mainly when you have your pen out. Any suggestions?

I was gonna make a how to thread about this.

I would think that app would interfere with my magazine function

Why not just tap the home button with the S pen?

You can still use the magazine by swiping starting on the screen, I like this because I am not getting accustom to starting my swipes off of the screen. So to me it feels like I no longer have that magazine function!

Tapping the home button with the S Pen just like pressing it with your finger? The goal is to alleviate the number of button presses, as to prolong the life of the home button.

I'm using Floating Toucher to get to the home screen, lock the device and other things.

Cool Jelly Bean trick!!!

I was just playing around with my Nexus 7 and I came across a neat and convenient trick to dispose of a app from the app drawer that you may have mistakenly selected and you only get three options uninstall, app info or simply drop the app on the home screen of your Nexus device. Well, there's a fourth option! Simply long press a app from your home screen or app drawer. Then, fling your finger that's holding down the app down up and release! That's it! From the home screen you don't have to take a app all of the way up to the white x remove then red release delete. From the bottom or where ever that app is on your screen you want to remove or replace, just press and hold the app you want to remove, fling your finger in motion down then up release and watch it fly away off of your screen! I think this only works with Jelly Bean, but this my friend is very convenient!

I can add another cool trick: slide up from the bottom of the screen where the 3 buttons are to bring up the Google search. Neat.
Another cool trick in Jelly Bean. Settings > About Tablet/Phone > Android Version (tap repeatedly for surprise)

It shows a lockscreen-style circle for that. Kinda unnecessary, but cool. A quick swipe up from the home button works just as well.

There's an easter egg in the settings app. Go into "about tablet". Tap the version number many times. After that, press and hold the Jelly Bean.

That is actually launching Google Now. If you do not have search history turned on for your google account, you will only see a google search.
If you have history, it will show more information cards.
I'm not quite sure if you're serious or you're really just now discovering the features marketed in the presentations.

Not everyone watched the presentations. No reason to be unnecessarily mean. I thanked him since I didn't know about the trick at all and these types of threads are awesome.
couldnt do it for the life of me and figured it must be a N7 thing only at the moment. But then I re-read the directions on how to do it... derp:silly:
Thanks guys for your help hints!

I watched the presentation but only recently realised the two finger trick for expanding or reducing notification sizes!

Tell Google now to do a barrel roll see what happens

slide two fingers up or down instead. Won't work on all notifications of course

If you long press either the back button or the multi-window button (I forget the technical name of it) and swipe up it will bring up google now as if you were holding down the home button.

Re - enable My Magazine. Open it and go to settings. There's only two things, the later is what you want.

Lock Screen and S Pen ?

Hi guys
Has anyone found out a way to add shortcuts to lock screen with pin-lock.
My only solution is using the s-view flip case from samsung. I want more shortcuts!
Has anyone found out a way to erase with the s pen in s note WITHOUT keep going to the eraser on the tool bar.
The button on s pen used to be the eraser on the note 2 but on note 3 it only does screen capture, annoying!
TIA

i think you can only have shortcuts if you do not use a pin/password. maybe if you are rooted there ay be a solution, i dont know though. sorry, but hoped i helped!
What about the s pen is it bc of the att rom or all note 3 s pen is like this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
Again, if you are rooted maybe there are mods that will allow that for the s-pen. I honestly have not seen anything like that at the moment though, sorry

You can add shortcuts and then apply pin lock. The short cuts will stay. If you want to change them you would have to turn off the pin security.
So I guess I could root the phone but is there a stock rom, general for all note 3 where we get all basic function w/o bloat wares...im not a fan of custom roms.

Fingerprint swipe upwards

I just got done setting the fringerprint scanner to work on an upwards swipe
It simple
Swipe up when registering 1 set will all upwards swipes
It will warn you to swipe downwards when trying this, but if you do it quick enough it will actually accept it as a swipe enough times to make a whole set.
Try it out

In my experience upward swipes work even if you only registered downward swipes, just not as well.
Do you find that this works better than the down swipe?

Interesting. Swiping down is a little hard at times. Guess I'll try it. Thanks for sharing.
I scan my thumb sideways. Better for me.

Weird screen thing

I just noticed that I was able to minimize a facebook window that was about a quarter of the screen. I closed it but I'm not sure how I did it. How did I do it?

Drag the from the top right towards the bottom left to make it turn the full screen app into a windowed app... Then there's a button on the top middle of the window for options to minimize, maximize, and close.
