My jack cover has broke. My fault mostly - the rubber edge of the flap has been damagged, and obviously there is no waterresistance any more.
The question is:
1.Can I change the flap without disassembling the phone? I think I can pull the flap out (with little force), and install the new one...
2.If I disassemble the phone, should I apply the new battery cover adhesive tape sticker (found on ebay)? Or use old one?

1. No you will need to disassemble the phone
2. It's always better to get some new adhesive.
If you decide to do the repairs by yourself, please note that you might lose the water resistance if the phone isn't closed properly after you've finished.
And you'll lose warranty too!

WRONG - you obviously haven't done it and are giving false information.
The flaps replacement come as a set of 4 for $7.
The "straps" simply push in and NO dismantling is required.

GREAT if won't need to disassemble it!
SO the strap can be pushed in?
BUT can old flap be forced out of the phone?
I tried to pull it out, seems to me it is possible.
(I'll post here the progress of repearing, as soon my flaps ships to me. Thanks everyone for help)

I'm currently experiencing the same issues. Were you able to pull out the rubber strap and insert the new one? My headphone jack flag is cracked on the top. Figured I'd try to replace it if possible at a reasonable cost.

Me too. Phone is still great, beside it's not water proof anymore. :/
This might be of some use on how to do it!

Hi,
The battery cover is not flush with the device. Only on the left side.
Does anyone else have this problem?? I bought the phone used, but this issue was not mentioned.
Thanks

Hey guys, just saw this for Indian region..
http://www.ebay.in/itm/Sony-Xperia-...Mobile_Accessories&hash=item1e8cb98689&_uhb=1
I have few doubts before i may buy this.. I know it removes the necessary of opening/closing flaps again and again so that durability of flaps will last longer with dock charging.. But does charging docks cause any probs in time? I heard the lock in the phone which slides inside when we put the phone in the dock becomes loose after some time.. Anyone using it?

I'm using original one almost a year now and it's great, I didn't have any single problem with it and I'm charging my phone every night.

I've been using the dock for more then a year now, they phone still fits perfectly, there is like a 1mm margin, but that's because I have a glass screen protector.
The only downside that I saw is that when you have a glass screen protector, your protector can break when you put it on the dock. Happened twice to me. I only got a minor crack both times, so it's not that big of a deal.
I'd say buy it. :good:

I also used a matte screen protector before and the dock didn't affect it whatsoever. So you're safe when it comes to that.
it came boxed with my Z here in europe.
I love the dock! Used it for over a year now. and it still works as fine as on the first day.
i couldn't imagine pluging the phone via MicroUSB every time i'd charge it. Ever night i just put it into the dock thats about 1-2 seconds and works while walking by.
The new Z2 has a magnetic dock. So the dock is way smaller, but you have to put your phone in and slide it trought till the magnetic charger connects.
IMHO i liked the Z dock better.
Hi,
My USB port's rubber is practically destroyed after long use and its on the verge of properly clapping shut (not just being water resistant).
How do i fix this issue?
My rubber seal had come off, flap won't stay shut and Sony want silly money to fix. Apparently these don't wear out, it is owner misuse.

Guys it has been almost 5 weeks that ive purchased the device and ive been getting slight electric shock from the metal frame when i use it with the shock case when i charge !!! Also the touch and finger print sensor seems to be a bit messed up while charging ..is it any thing serious? And is every body facing this issue?
And its not earthing issue I've tried it with different wall sockets extension chords and everything
What you describe does not make sense. The stock cover covers up the sides pretty well, so how can you touch metal while with cover on?
Also the fingerprint sensor is built into the screen, so are you saying there is shock when you touch the screen? Also very unlikely as glass screen prevents that amount of electricity being passed thru, it wouldn't be enough to shock you.
Better be safe than sorry, you might want to take a video and return the phone.
ive seen a video on youtube from an indian user who was also getting shocks from the phone and eventually it would not switch on anymore so he had to get another one through the warrant. I am looking for the video but i didnt find it yet.
Lol sounds interesting. Would like to see the video.

I dint mean the sides when its on charge just slightly touch the upper metal portion of the frame!!!most probbaly with out the cover the shock is not noticed cuz a large part of frame is in contact and thus the electricity passes throug!! And i dint mention shock coming out of fingerprint!!! I told the finger print scanner struggles a bit while charging ...not sure if its cuz of any internal shock
Sounds like earthing issue, get local electrician to check your cabling

Chargers supply DC current through the USB cable. 'Earth' makes no sense in a DC circuit, therefore it cannot be an earthing problem.
Also, virtually all USB chargers have a plastic case and so will invariably have no earth connection. Even if the plug for the charger has an earth pin, the chances are that it is not connected to anything.
I using k20.. during charging I feel vibration(current flow)in metal plat..why?? No earthing problem or charger problem

The battery in the phone supplies DC current and requires a DC current to charge. The charging brick delivers DC current to charge the battery.
If there is an AC current going to the phone when charging, you'll instantly kill the phone.
Any electric shock perceived when charging is not a result of a residual AC current on the phone case.
It is NOT an earthing problem.
have you replaced ur handset ?
