Hi,
Starting a couple days ago the camera app on my HTC One will not work. I keep getting the error "unable to start the camera." I have a stock build, recently (about a week ago) upgraded to 4.3.
Now, I have determined that it is not simply the main camera app that is not working as no app that uses the camera (snapchat etc.) work either.
I have tried many things to fix this issue so far, rebooting, clearing the cache, doing a full factory reset, attempting to open in safe mode. I have come to the conclusion that since none of these attempts worked that this either has to be an operating system/4.3 build issue (although I'm not sure this makes sense as I had a working camera for many days after upgrading and the factory reset did not help) or this is a hardware issue.
Has anyone else encountered this or have any suggestions? I have read a couple scarce threads where others had this issue but a soft reset usually solved it. My problem seems to be a lot more severe unfortunately.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
Are you fully stock?
However, if a factory reset haven't help you, you can only send to the warranty...

after updating to froyo using the official OTA EPE54B - > FRF85B - > FRF91 my GPS will no longer lock on in the Google Maps application.. its pretty frustrating has anyone else experienced this and/or found a solution? I feel if it was a widespread issue their would be a big post about this already but I wasn't able to find much when searching the forums any help or advice would be most appreciated!
I have the same problem. I made a thread before but no one responded. Here's what I posted before:
Whenever I use the navigation feature in Maps, it gets stuck on "Searching for GPS." I've left it like that overnight and nothing happened. The entire time, the GPS icon in the notification bar is blinking. I've downloaded the GPS Status app and it can't seem to be able to find my location either.
I've tried wiping everything, installing different roms, reinstalling the radio but nothing seems to be able to fix the problem. Navigation worked fine before. This problem just popped up out of nowhere. I've tried it when I'm outside, in different cities, but that hasn't helped.

I also went back to 2.1-update1 to use the older version of Maps but that still didn't help. I've tried searching for others with the same problem but no one seems to have found a solution yet. I don't think it's a hardware problem though since people with different phones have reported the same problem.
I actually had the same problem with my previous phone which was the milestone (aka Droid) and the problem just randomly resolved itself.. so for sure I agree it can't be a hardware bug just wondering where the problem could be coming from then since by your findings it doesn't seem to be OS specific since your able to reproduce it on 2.1 as well.. and your also saying a factory reset doesn't fix the problem, so that rules out 3rd party apps.. I read on some other forums that some ppl had similar problems with the G1 and some people reported a battery pull as a temp fix. I tried it but it doesn't seem to make a difference.. have you tried this? also is the problem intermittent for you? or has it just stopped working and you haven't been able to lock on since?
just did a factory reset and still the same thing
no one has anything I could try to attempt to resolve this issue ?
Happened to me. Fixed itself in about 4 days.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
im having the same problem since FRF50... my gps is slooooow and inacurate... ive tryed everithing, changing radios, several wipes, flashing all kinds of roms and backups... still the same...
when im in my house, the blue triangle appears at my neighbors house!
When I first got my phone the GPS wouldn't seem to get a fix (OTA FRF91, totally stock), but it essentially fixed itself. I took it outside and let it sit for 5 minutes trying and it eventually did get a fix, and now it gets fixes quickly like you'd expect. I should note that when I got to to make the first fix I had cell tower assist turned off.
Happened to me in FRF83. Went back to CM5.0.8. Started working again. I am on CM6.0 RC1 (based on FRF91) and it is working without a problem.

I've tried that too. I've had the problem for almost two months now but I never had it before. It's really starting to get annoying since none of my other apps can detect my location either [weather, news]. I hope it just magically works again some day like it did for everyone else.
could this possibly be faulty hardware? should I try sending it in for a swap??
Settings -> Location & Security
Make sure that "Use wireless networks" is checked.
I was having a similar problem.
My buddy just got this phone, and whenever he tries to use the camera, the phone reboots.
We tried resetting the phone a couple times with no avail.
any ideas?
EDIT: the camera worked at first, but now it wont.
Well if you did a full software restore I would tend to believe it is hardware related and would suggest returning the phone considering I have not one issue with it and I have used it on and off since release date with no rebooting issue's.
I have an LG Optimus 2x P990, running Android 2.3.4, which is under warranty until 10th October this year. I therefore won't consider rooting or changing the stock ROM, at present, which would invalidate that warranty.
I have done a lot of research and tried many and various 'cures', including those involving GPS settings in the hidden menu, without success. There seems to be a lot of expertise on this forum which I hope may offer some pointers to the cause of my problem.
The problem is the GPS. If I start with a clean system, i.e. after a factory reset, it works as I think it should and gets a fix certainly within 30 secs assuming a reasonable number of satellites. I'm testing with the 'GPS Test' application. The performance then starts to deteriorate over time until within 3-4 weeks it becomes unusable e.g. it will find only a few satellites but not lock to any of them. Midway to that unusable stage it will find more satellites and sometimes the signal bars flash colour, indicating a lock, but then go back to white.
I discovered, in desperation, that a factory reset will apparently cure the problem and it will start working as expected but the deterioration in performance then follows later.
One day I had the OS crash and the phone rebooted spontaneously and then discovered that, once again, the GPS was working properly. That convinced me that the problem was software related and that, perhaps, clearing a cache is the cure although I don't know what cache. Could it be any installed applications or a combination of applications that are causing the problem?
It has been back for 'repair' twice and is returned with the GPS in full working order but I think that's because the phone has been factory reset and not because of any electronic repairs. The GPS performance then inevitably deteriorates.
I have thought of rooting after the warranty expires so that I could at least manually clear whatever it is that needs clearing (cache?).
So, does anyone have any ideas/suggestions please? Is anyone else having this same problem and, if not, why am I?
Hi.
If you still have warranty, this sounds like a job for your vendor, instead of you jumping through hoops to solve their problem.
You can actually root your device, through NVFlash, try different ROMs and if you need to take it to vendor for warranty purposes, Paul Obrien has developed a smart little tool called Smartflash.
Smartflash will bring your device back to original specs and restore your warranty.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
There are other threads to Pauls Smartflash, both here on XDA as well as on Pauls own site MoDaCo and there are quite a few threads with original basebands and ROMs, so dont despair, read and read and try.
I have the NOVA HD ROM (ICS), with NOVA kernel and I have the Navigon 4.1.3 installed and it works like a charm, including google support!!

You might have already tried this, but I had a problem getting GPS lock. fixed it by going into the hidden menu GPS test, then "Get Position", then click the menu capacitive button, and select "Delete aiding data".
first lock after that took a minute, but from then on it was fast.
Hope it helps.
Thanks but that had no effect.
I have since discovered that a factory reset doesn't always clear the problem.
Tried searching around and have seen others with this issue but nothing has worked. Tried a clean flash of a rom and during the setup wizard its still broken.
I have pretty much done everything but done a clean flash of stock and i am gearing up to do that but i dont have high hopes.
are you using a custom kernel?

Nope...
its not that i just cant connect, its like the hardware is broken.
and just did a complete factory image flash.
still broken
I had this happen to my N6 last week. It started after running the battery completely flat so the green LED lit when I charged it. The fix having repeatedly wiping seemed to be draining battery completely again until the green LED lit when I charged it. It has worked fine ever since.

First contacted square trade as that is my insurance, they said contact Moto because it is still under warranty. Did that, Moto said they would replace it. I said i don't want to go without a phone and they said they can charge me 25 and put a 500 hold on my account but they would send the phone first. Said OK phone arrives on Tuesday.
Just as an FYI they did basically say did you factory reset it.... but that is all the trouble shooting.
If anyone is interested in my symptom. Wifi is just always stuck at "turning on" every once in a while it will be off. but when you try to turn it on it just gets stuck again.
When it is stuck you can not turn it off.

Might be worth an RMA. see my previous post.
Don't know if I'm a little too late to this post... .But it happened to my Nexus 6 too, tried everything, wipe cache, factory reset, root, delete /persist/wifi but nothing worked....
However, luck seems to be on my side when I went into Google Connectivity Services under Setting--> Apps... and wipe its cache and tried to disable it (but stopped before I did). Then reboot the phone once i wiped all the data from the Google Connectivity Services Apps and VIOLA! It's working now!
*EDIT... It worked for about an hour (allowing me to dl all the apps) but now it has failed again....
I have the same issue as soon and I unlock the bootloader
any ideas? Im going to root again the device and load a different to see if it makes any difference
I am experiencing this as well. Was working fine yesterday and when I tried to go to Android M Preview 3 this happened. Whats worse is that this is happening right after I switched from Unlimited Data on TMo to Project Fi with 3GB. Making this even more frustrating is that Project Fi support says the preview images are now compatible with Project Fi. Isn't that something they should be telling people up front?!
I'm having the same issue on marshmalow, it suddenly started to happen some weeks ago.
First times was solved with phone reboot.
Then was required to clean cache before restart
Now I've tried reclutance suggestion (delete data from google connectivity services and reboot but the problem persist?
I'm using 6.0.1 stock rom without root
I don't want to perform a factory reset
Any suggestion?
here too...close the wifi
All tried doesn't work,
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache (via fastboot as I do not have a custom recovery neither unlocked the boot or root, my phone is completely original)
Also tried to delete wifi data
Any suggestion?
RMA
I'm continuing to have issues with my Motorola Nexus 6 phone.
It is running stock android 6.0.1
I never unlocked it or rooted (Sadly cause If i do so I were able to backup my apps and settings with titanium backup and restore it before a full device reset )
The problem started some weeks ago.
First symptom was that i was unable to enter on Settings -> Data usage (Every time receives an "unfortunately, settings has stopped" message)
Then some days have difficult to connect to wifi or disconnect (at that moment I didn't investigate the issue, just retry considering the issue was on router side)
After some time I realize that the problem was on the phone, specially cause it started to stuck turning on wifi, but for some days just turning off phone and turning it on again solves the issue.
With the time it becomes more and more frequent and turning it off and on didn't solve anything so I've reboot into recovery mode and perform a clear cache but it doesn't solve the issue.
Looking here and at other forums found that this issue is really common and some people solves it trough ADB with "adb shell pm clear com.android.settings" I've tried it but it didn't solve anything.
Even when many people didn't solve it with a factory reset I want to try it, but I need to be able to backup one app data (If could backup everything will be the best but at least need to backup blockchain app (Also have an issue with them as provider and couldn't log in from another device or website, just this device has a session already approved and open)
Any suggestion?
I've upgraded/downloaded to almost any possible rom and the problem is still here
Looking on forums found that is a very common issue since marshmallow in many devices (Specially Nexus)
Most people couldn't fix it but some could.
the problem is with devices macaddress that shown 02:00:00:00:00:00 and get stuck turning on
there are solutions in forums that seems to be a little bizarre like drain battery to 0 and full recharge (This one works for me once)
,others like deleting Google connectivity services cache, or deleting /persist/wifi folder completely
But I found one for nexus 5 who replaces the full /persist partition with a dump and edit the files and permissions with macaddress information.
This seems to have logic and provides an explanation about why the problem persist after, factory reset or rom changing so I want to try it in nexus 6.
Could someone provide me a dump of it?
There is an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...nam.partitions, that makes the process of making a partition backup easy. The persist partition is on /dev/block/mmcblk0p26
Thanks in advance
Did you solve your problem? Because I have the same. Did you try to change Mac address on device?
Hi, I've got a TMO Galaxy Note 4 for Christmas (It was a hand me down, not brand new). Now, the camera worked fine before I used it, then I was given the optional software update, not knowing that I couldnt ever downgrade, and that there'd be a camera error. Now, I've tried clearing data, force stopping, rebooting, wiping all cache and data in recovery, and even trying root methods by swapping out the rooms (CM13 let me use the front camera, the only camera funtioning). At this time, that is my only issue, and I'm not sure why the back cam cannot connect. If any additional information is needed, please let me know and I'll tell you as much as I can.
This just started happening to me, did you find a solution?
