Problems while using Moto skip - Moto X Q&A

I like the idea of moto skip to unlock or wake up so much. Now here is the paradox:
If I get the moto skip into use, it is need a pattern or pins or something like that to unlock the phone, and in this case, you will never have the touchless control, for you have to unlock the device after you say "OK, Google now" with your commands.
If there is any solutions to use the skip to unlock or wake up the phone and not to set up the pattern or pins?:crying::crying:

Seconded!!!
I really doubt this will happen though. :crying:

If you don't want a security pin or pattern, what's the point of using a Skip? Not sure what you're asking.

It's faster to unlock compared to hitting power button then sliding to unlock.

If he's asking whether there's anyway for the Touchless Control voice prompt to bypass a secure lockscreen, then no, that's not possible and rightfully so since pretty much anyone can activate it with the "OK Google Now" command.
I think a better option than the Skip is using a trusted bluetooth device like a smartwatch or something.

Yep it would be a security flaw to allow you to unlock via voice and bypass your pin or pattern. Which is why i only used skip for couple days and on the weekends in case i get hammered and lose the phone.
It happens.

Now after I upgrade some apps this morning, we can touchlessly control motor x without unlock the phone...

Skip is a neat idea, but it is far too easy to lose the little leather magnet NFC tag. What would be cool is either a small, tasteful ring for your finger with an NFC tag, or a small NFC-tag equipped nipple ring. Then you could just rub your moto-x on your nipple to unlock.
And unlike Skip, it's rather difficult to lose your nipple or finger.

[DevZay Concept] Lock Screen Concept

Here is a concept I came up with for a custom lockscreen on android. Basically all you do to unlock it is to connect the two rings using multi-touch (basically pinching them together). Of course I haven't made it cuz I'm not to good with making apps and such, I mostly do graphics. If a rom cooker such as Cyanogen, Jester, justanothercowd, kingklik, ccyrowski, etc. wants to try to make it useable in one of their builds feel free to PM me. Again this is not an app or a finished product that can be used right now, but is an idea or a concept of a custom lockscreen. idk if it can actually be made or anything. Please post some feedback and maybe we can discuss a way on how to get custom lockscreens. I will b willing to make some more too.

Nice concept, would like to see this developed.
Free bump for you.
I created something similar with but with only one circle like the ophone unlock. It would not be hard to make work with multitouch if only i had multi touch hardware.

so it is perfectly possible?
Having to pinch those two rings together every time I wanted to unlock my phone would be a nightmare.
lol i like it... but i wonder how close u can truly pinch!... lol..but its a nice idea.. maybe just to have the circles touch...
its like a drunk test lol..
I don't *think* its possible because the G1 is not true multi-touch. The multi-touch we have is emulated and doesn't detect the position of two "touches". Instead, it detects the distance between the two touches allowing us to multi-touch zoom, but not much else. Sorry if I rained on your parade, but I might be wrong!

Is this available anywhere?
It is not. i did not know how much interest there would be, so i never polished it. I guess i could wrap it up for release.
As for the pinch idea it depends on the hardware, it is not possible on the g1 becuase the screen does not support multi touch, only very very crude one.

Excellent find. Thanks.
Was interested in how they actually did connect the battery, if they were just imitating Apple on the outside and put a regular battery in, with regular connectors but sealed the back cover. I see they didnt. Which is something good in something fundamentally bad
yep it's easy to open the back of phone but i was septic for revert the battery . but if it's possible maybe we have a chance to unlock the bootloader with testpoint technic

There is one screw under the sim/mem card slot. Take that out. you can then use something thin to separate the back cover from the rest of the phone.
Its a bit stiff but it will come off.
I have had my cover off.
BUT be careful around the usb port as the plastic there is thin and can and will snap if your not gentle with it around that area.

Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a test point?
Not to worry, we're all learners here! The test point, as far as I am concerned/aware, is a way of unlocking the bootloader through a more physical process than just flashing something. I'm not sure how it works, nor what the "official" use of it is but it's been mentioned several times in other Xperia device forums so I'm looking into them at the moment for a way to unlock my bootloader with rooting status: no.

Yeah, the test point unlock, remember that from my good ol' days with my Xperia Neo V. I'm not sure what its actual use was in terms of its official design, but it was shorted out in the process and allowed for the unlocking without having to go through the official Sony unlocking process, pretty much allowing for you to relock it and still retain warranty, DRM wasn't wiped, etc. But if you accidentally used the wrong point, the phone bricked. ^^"

Review: InfiniApps Magnet Car Mount

Got this a few days ago for $30 on ebay and love it. I honestly couldn't go with anything other than magnetic - it's so easy and convenient to just quickly sit your phone against the mount or pull it back for texting at a light, etc. There really isn't much to say since the concept is pretty simple. The suction base works well on my textured dash and the magnet grips well. I haven't used it on a race track or anything but I don't take corners or always accelerate super slow either and the phone never budges. It's also great that the dock works with any phone so if you share your car or get a new device, you don't have to change mounts or have more than one. The only way it could be improved is if it had wireless charging built in too (though for verizon versions this wouldn't help most). But the phones battery is good enough that it shouldn't need to be plugged in for any trips that aren't very long anyways.
Also, I recommend the free app "IntelliScreen" with this. The app makes it so the screen won't timeout when certain apps are up on the screen (and it does some other stuff too). I made it so the music and maps app don't timeout so that I don't have to constantly hit the screen button while driving to see and control things.

I'm not positive but when the phone is put around half an inch from it or so, it easily sticks to the mount. It's not strong enough where it's difficult to pull off, but I actually believe I could go to a race track and record video from my phone's camera while it is on the mount and not have any problems with it moving/falling. I had seen the imagnet at first on amazon and was going to get that, but this one doesn't look like it's an iphone accessory so I won't have people asking/thinking I have an iphone that I give rides to, if I don't put my phone on it.

I didn't think of the spen because I don't ever really use it. I just tried it out and it doesn't work where the magnet is. However, it's so quick to take it off the mount and imo it's a lot more convenient to write/draw on it in your hand, so it shouldn't be a problem for a lot of people if not most. Navigation and everything else still works though.
I will also get a picture of the phone on the mount tonight.

Little things 4.4 has that you've always wanted stock

I'll start...
T9 dialer, I noticed the other day I don't have to scroll through a list of thousands of contacts or search names, I can just open the dialer press 726 and Ramiro shows as the contact. Or 666 and Mom is who I see. 262 gets me Amanda. Etc. This is something I've been waiting for Google to implement since I got into android, so fairly exciting.
What else have you guys found?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Last check 4.3 and i think even 4.2 had the smart dialer (T9). I guess i don't have "thousands" of contacts in my phone so maybe that's why i didn't really need/use it.
They have upped the ante massively with voice recognition and particularly voice search with it being in my opinion the killer feature of 4.4. Google now while improved is still an annoying intrusion that I disabled after a day. I disliked it immediately but like to give these things a little time to see if they grow on me. The GEL is an embarrassing failure in my opinion and someone should lose their job for thinking it would be a good idea to fix the search bar on any screen let alone all of them. I know 2 others now with the N5 and we all kicked the launcher to the curb in short order.
One thing that I've seen little talk of is the stock dialer. I'm not actually sure if it's kit Kat or Google? I expected to dislike it but I actually like it and have continued to use it. It has some flaws like not searching the call log but the ability to start typing in the name of a local place and have it's number pop up before you can finish is very useful and if it wasn't for the amazing voice search (which also works in the dialer) I would probably list the dialer as the single best stock feature.
