Hi all. I got a funny question, dont hate or judge me for that but when the Xperia Z gets hot after playing some games or browse the web etc. is it a good idea to cool it under water? the faster way? i knowe it cool"s off quick when stop playin or browsing on it,but can it be done and will i not harm our beloved device thank for the response from all...peace out
I still haven't even tried to put this phone under water. I always have extra bad luck when it comes to these things. But hey I don't see any need to water cool it for the normal running of the phone.
Maybe your phone will get a heart attack hot+cold.

Hehe,maybe
Gangster Xperia Z
If your phone turns from hot to cold too quickly the glass can crack.
Press thanks if I helped

It's never good to suddenly change the temperature of anything - especially something made of glass. So no, i'd say its not a good idea. It is tempered glass, nothing should happen - but you never know.
There is a service running on the phone for overheat protection
So I'm guessing that your phone us nit too hot!
Its a quad core processor and large screen so heat is expected just let it cool naturally

I've been doing this all the time and my phone hasn't cracked. I tossed it in the ice bin at work even lol.
I did think about the possibility of cracking once but figured if it didn't happen yet maybe it won't.

Tempered glass should be almost indestructible by temperature changes, but i wouldn't want to test it myself
I think, It will cause drip in, especially cameras glasses.
When air in Xperia Z contains a little moist, If you quickly cool it down with cold water, It will be dripping.
If the tempered glass won't break, internal component might degradate faster.

I was in the beach 2 days ago and I brought my xperia Z along. I decided that it was a good idea to take underwater videos and pictures above the water. They all looked great. The only problem is that, its been two days since that happened and my speaker is still muffled. It usually gets dry in a few hours, this time I'm worried it might have damaged for good. I believe that maybe little grains of sand made their way through the grill and are keeping the sound low or something else. Anyways, just wanted to ask if anyone can advise me on what to do. I had my C6002 since its release and have submerge it in numerous pools but never on a beach. Any help will be appreciated, thanks

I wouldn't recommend open the device, you could lose the water resistance altogether.
My only advice would be letting the device on rice for a while with the flaps open.
Anyway, my take on this subject is this:
I wonder now why everyone thinks that kind of water resistance will make the phone indestructible.
For me, that water resistance (not waterproof) just makes me feel more confident about my device surviving water related accidents.
Just taking the device to the swimming pool defeats its certification (2 m deep pools are not uncommon, you know), splashing, swimming, just moving around under water, or even worst jumping into the water violently just multiplies the pressure around your device by more than those 0.1 bar.

Good luck anyway.
Since it was salt water, did you ever think about washing it with distilled water? Might help

That would be my suggestion too. Try giving it a bath in nice clean water to rinse off any debris.
Sent from my Xperia Tablet Z
Yeah that was my first reaction. I actually left it submerged for about 15 and after that I rinsed it on the shower with no avail. I havent blow dried it, I've read somewhere that might help. But thanks for the suggestions. I'll leave it with rice tonight and see if I have something positive to report tomorrow.

After spending the night on a ziplock bag full of rise and turned off, I'm happy to report that the speaker is as good as new. I'm super happy. Now, there's one weird issue. Its in another thread, but suddenly I have dead pixels in my camera. See the light switch on the left and notice how there is a black dot on either side. These are persistent around every photo I take. Any thoughts?

Same thing here since a few days and I f*cking hate it! Thought I'm not sure if it's dirt or a dead pixel.

You can only send it for repairs;

Which is what I'm going to do.
FYI if you ever want to dry the speaker out use a can of compressed air to force the water out, i've been doing this for sometime without issue, and restores volume immediately,

You are probably going to eventually destroy the water proof membrane inside the speaker if you continue to do that. Not good advice.

Yeah man, pushing compressed air through there doesn't sound like a good idea. I'll gladly wait 2-3 hours or a bag of rice overnite. That's living dangerously right there

Well it's your choice but it takes a quick spray and it'd back to normal.
If you did it with 10 psi sure but this is can which is like 10 psi.
It's up to you but it's not much dissimilar to blowing it with your mouth

Amazingly, I left the phone over night on a bag of rice and not only did it fix the issue it had another unexpected effect. Now, when I wet the speaker its back to normal almost immediately. I was at a lake yesterday, used the phone to record under water, take photos, and guess what? It was fully loud each time almost immediately after I got out of the water. This phone hasn't seize to impress. I highly recommend to consider the rice. Often times, naturally aspired solutions are the better choice.

I don't know exactly how to describe this. But my Xperia Z1 seems slightly bent at one side. The power button side. Look at the pic. Lying on a flat surface. Compare the power button side and the usb side. In honesty, my phone has been recently exposed to a lotta heat. Abuja, Nigeria is really hot. The phone got so hot that day it actually started damaging the carrying pouch. Should I be worried?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
idk if my eyes are bad..
but isn't that more like a hump on the battery part?
seems logical if it is a hump... batteries are never good with high heat exposure
well try putting i on a flat table and get a shot from the sides while the phone is lying on the back and front
Check this
and yes you should be worried ... more so for your health!
Did you keep it in your back pocket?
I came across two images of Xperia Z1 Bent on Sony Mobile forum. It seems very sad that users are saying that they didn't put it back pocket and not at all sat on it.
so I put up a post here to make users aware of this http://www.xperiaguide.com/2013/11/17/xperia-z1-screen-and-body-bent-appears/ and @dante2086 if I have your permission can I include your pic in above post of mine ?
@zegun Yeah, sorry about that. I actually uploaded four files using the app, didn't know that three failed. But I've uploaded the others.
@ara.armagedon How does it affect my health?
@TheCraig Never put in my back pocket, not even once.
@ImAnurag Feel free to use the pix.

Yeah, but I think I've adapted to it. As for the phone, the problem is Sony mobile, has poor, if not nearly non-existent representation in Nigeria. Most Sony phones are sold via third party representatives in Nigeria, and I don't think too much of them. If it does get worse though, I might be forced to send it in. As u can see from the pics it's not too severe. And I kept the phone in water for ten minutes today just to verify if it was still waterproof, apparently it still is.
incredible pictures.....

Aluminium!
A metal frame!
change its shape in normal earth temperature !!!
u r kiddin!
even water needs more than 80-90C to change its shape!
but for example aluminium body of XZ1 change because of maybe 60C !! (60C for warmest city on earth!)
-
and some users talked about this problem without any reason !!!
no caused phenomena are for quantum world.
in our normal world there s always reason for everything.
and reason of something like this is users misbehaving...

They sat on it or applied some other force to it. The laws of physics disagree with "it just bent itself." As for heat, the melting point of aluminum is 660 celcius... that's over 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. And that's almost how hot it would have to get to start bending "by itself."
Smartass all fo you....
The aluminum frame is fabricated it such a way that IT CAN ACTUALLY BEND ITSELF! If the stress tensor in the alimonum block was highly distorted before the chipping process THE FRAM WILL BENT ITSELF AFTER A WHULE to relive inner materials pressure...
This can defenetly be cause by wrong fabricatimg procedures....
Go atudy your physics before blabbering about physics on xda..!

yeah my z1 seems bent too. i've noticed it shortly after getting it. girlfriend thinks i'm crazy but i'm sure. i did put it off as an optical illusion due to the port covers not being 100% parallel to the frame sometimes, but even on a table it wobbles, so it must be bent.
very disconcerting to say the least.

Could be that the battery is swollen due to overcharging, or the aluminium could have bent, melting point doesn't mean that it can be made into a durable metal at lower heat, but i find that unlikely, i'm putting my money on the battery swelling.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Few people in the world are as careful with their phones as I am. And I definitely don't sit on it. And fabricated aluminium doesn't need to get to it melting point to bend.

Could still be m8, i've seen batteries swell until they literally broke the devices, i have a device for transferring data from any mobile device to any other mobile device, called celibrite, I like i div had it charging all the time and the battery ended up like a massive blue bag (swollen) it broke the front sim slot and pushed the screws out through their threads, nothing was stopping it, in terms of battery life i have to say when it was disconnected i didn't noticed a drop in battery life either, although it was never unplugged for very long, as for my phone I have it on a timer at night so it never gets more than an hour of overcharge.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingavon-24...TF8&qid=1389723209&sr=8-1&keywords=plug+timer
I see. Well the bending doesn't seem to be getting worse, so if it's a battery swelling, its safe to say it's stopped right?

I'm sorry if this the wrong section.
But I was cleaning(just water flowing over ut)
my phone with water all flaps were closed
No indicator is pink all white
Camer Lens is fogged
Images are not clear
Phone is running I can't see water at any flap location.
Should i rush to a service Centre or its because of condenation due to hot water and colder water ?

it will be gone after a while of phone usage.
It's water vapour condensing on the glass cover.
Perhaps you can try opening the flaps and use the phone so it heats up, causing the condensation to evapourate.
Happens to me once, and was gone within the day

Nope, it started condensing, but the power button started going haywire after 2 hours
I started real racing to heat up the phone..so ultimately I took a backup and ran for the service centre.
they've taken it in told me 7 days for repairs.
That has happened to my XZ and my friend. When that happen, my phone was starting to act a little weird, and then slowly died. The glue on the backplate near the camera, where the heat are coming from... Made a little gap. So water could get in. Got a new phone back since it was a flaw by Sony

Hope I get a replacement, they've sent it for repair and evaluation.
Hardly feel it will have any water resistance after they open and re glue it
And there job sheet says warranty is conditional on internal liquid intrusion damage :/ :S

When I look closely to the left side of the phone I can see it is bent down a little means the phone does not lay plain on plain surfaces. This was not from beginning but one week later without falling on the ground or similar. I think it bent due to heat.
Can anyone confirm this bending and is still using it under water, shower and what do ever?

Take photos? If you can see gaps, especially around the front glass or back glass, or if the side covers do not close flush, it's probably not waterproof.

After a week? Send it back m8, that shouldn't be happening, either the phones been heavily stressed or over charged or it simply has chips that overheat. Either way it's bad and shouldn't happen, there should be a 28 day exchange service and a straight swap should be on offer.
Photo?
