[Q] Xperia SP not charging - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
yesterday, my phone got a little wet on the back, but it kept working fine the whole day. In the evening i plugged it in, but it would not charge. I put it in rice over night but it didn't seem to help...
When i plug it in (switched off) it seems to charge (at least the red light is glowing) and then it powers on on its own. It seems that it then stops charging, and as soon as it has powered up, it switches off again because the battery is empty... And the cycle starts again.
I already tried different cables and chargers, but no luck...
Can someone please help me?
Edit: Problem solved. Apparently it was still a bit wet inside the usb plug. I cleaned it with a paper towel and blew in with the hairdryer for about 15 minutes (minimum heat)

Phone got water, does not charge

I read some threads here about not charging, but my situation is different and all stuff mentioned in elder posts do not help me.
So the problem is: some days ago I was fishing and my phone got some water. I kept it in warm place, it turned on normally, but I can not charge it anymore. Orange light is on (so phone says it is charging), but charger light stays blue only for some secs, after it turns green (saying it does not charge the phone). Tried wall charger, usb and even car charger. All the same...
Maybe some of you already had this problem?
Thanks
Water splash and Kaiser TYTN II no longer charges battery
Same issue here. : (
Is it the battery? Maybe you need to replace the usb port probably rusted.

[Q] First problem I haven't been able to fix!

This is completely undiscovered territory for me, as I have been over and under the forums looking for a solution....
Here's the problem as it happened:
Every night around 10pm, I plug my phone in to charge, which I did the previous night. Normally, my schedule has me up and leaving the house at 4:30am except on weekends which I am normally up by 6am.
Friday night at 10pm, I plugged the phone in to charge as usual. The next morning I unplugged and checked the phone as usual and everything seemed fine.
I had left the phone to sit unattended for some time while I got ready to go out for the day, then grabbed my phone, put it in the holdster and left.
My day was quite busy and I never checked my phone for the first 2 hours after leaving the house. When I did it was unresponsive, so I did the customary reset and nothing.
I assumed a dead battery so I just waited until I was back in the car. When I plugged it in, I saw the red light and, assuming the battery was just dead I left it.
The phone has done nothing else since... just the red light.
I'm assuming this phone might be a goner but I wanted to put my feelers out. I have not tried MTTY yet and I'm assuming it probably won't work anyway.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm using a well-used and worn out Kaiser (my back-up) right now, same rom/radio/kernel/etc. to see if I can replicate what happened... (I know, flirting with disaster).
Apparently I didn't look hard enough because I found the thread for the RLoD and followed the instructions.
Charger connected, back panel off, battery out.
Hold power button and rapidly connect/disconnect battery from terminals by holding at an angle (may take up to 100 times to get it).
Red light goes out, green light flashes, phone boots.
BUT!...
Test the phone before you take it for the day.
I was unfortunate enough to not realize that the phone hadn't charged overnight and reset the battery counter to 80% at 3.6 volts.
I was lucky enough to grab a databackup.img and copy everything to the spare phone.
maybe there's a problem with the connection in the usb port.

[Q] Moto X - Alien Green Light and not charging

Here is a brief history of my wife's Moto X
About half a year ago, kid threw it in toilet, wife took it out and decided to use it, it went black later on in the day. Did the whole rice trick and after several days of different methods, finally got it back to working condition without any issue.
Sometime last week, wife decided to use my Acer Iconia A500 high charge USB car adapter to charge her cell phone. Screen went black. No amount of volume +/-/power combo could bring anything up. Plugged it into wall charger, got the infamous green light indicating battery is pretty much crap. Tried charging via computer, wall charger, factor cable etc, all the same.
Went on ebay and bought a replacement battery which arrived yesterday, took a lot of cursing and prying to get the back off of the moto x to change the battery. Everything went smoothly, plugged in charger, no green light/response/nada. Swapped the battery back to the original one, green light came on, swapped to one bought on ebay, black screen. So I left the new battery in and plugged in the wall charger with factory cable overnight, next morning now I see the green light but phone still wont power on.
Any suggestion or ideas on what I can do next other than chuck it into the trash at this point?
Have you tried holding the power button for up to a minute even?
Sounds like the charger may have fried something... Other than the battery.
hold power down for more than 1 min, nothing
Unfortunately it's sounding dead. Or try another cable and charger and leave it over night.
Not much other Troubleshooting to do if it's powered off.
guessed I can leave it on the charger for 24 hours and see what happened. Tried different factory cables as well as wall chargers, all the same results.

Try the solution suggested here (post #6) , i.e. take everything out of the phone, battery and Sim, and hold down power button for ten+ seconds. similar to what you'd do to a laptop to discharge residual charge or reset battery related things.
Tried it, still have Green Light of Death. I guessed its time to move on, thanks for all the suggestions.

Red LED flashes when charging [Solution]

My z1 had a bad weekend and ended up with 1% battery which finally died. It was weird, it started with the phone not detecting when it was unplugged from the charging device, and I figured it was just a one off thing so I reset the phone, reflashed the phone and finally wiped and reflashed the phone (all off the charger since I was on the road at the time). Well nothing worked and it would not even power off. Eventually the phone died with the red led flashing away. Once I got to a charge I then I got the famous red light flashes while charging or no led when plugged in. For me both these meant the same thing. My phone would not charge and would not accept a charge.
I tried: leaving it plugged in, switching to the side port for charging, trying to get it to repair mode... NOTHING WORKED. It all boils down to the fact that the charger on this phone cannot charge a drained battery. Anyways needless to say I was desperate and searched for a solution. I found 3 and made up a fourth
SOLUTIONS
Non invasive
1) If your phone is under warranty bring it to a repair center.
2) Send the phone (to be repaired at your expense) to Sony repair center
OR
The following require a that you take the back cover off, ergo void warranty
3) Replace internal battery
OR
4) Get the battery out, carefully untape the LION battery package from the plastic frame (do not use anything sharp because if you pierce the battery shield you have a fire on your hands). Once the plastic frame is removed from the battery you can see two large connectors going into the pack, attach alligator clips from those to a "MICRO USB 1A Battery Charging Module" (available on ebay). Make sure polarity is correct and plug the charging module in.
I was able to do item 4. My battery before being charged was reading 2.6v unloaded, I left it for an hour or so and it was 3.7v, I put my phone back together and voila it powered up. The battery read 19% charged when it got to the lock screen. The battery is still charging (at 35%) but so far so good
Nz
What also worked for me is to hook Xperia Z1 to a magnetic charger.

Xperia Z won't charge & turns off after waves

I was washing my xperia z like always; but this time some ports weren't completely unreachable by water cause they weren't like the first days, anyway the water went in and i could see a little water under the phone screen, also all the water indicators became pink.while the phone was working for some minutes; and then after minutes xperia shut down. but I could still turn it on; and it shut down after seconds every time.i also couldn't charge the phone. or it will be charging weird!(like it instantly became full charge ...) . and also i did sth silly in this time, i changed the battery and replaced it with a new one(i still don't know why i decided to do this in this situation:/).after that i tried again and this time the phone doesn't boot anymore.after showing those purple waves it shuts down. it also doesn't kind of charge anymore. cause when i plug in, the red light appears , and it charges for one percent then stops...anyway i decided to stop trying.I opened the phone back again and then removed battery, opened all the ports and put it inside rice bag for about two days. now it is still the same story(shutting down after waves) ... what should i do?
well, in short word...you're late.
If that happened to me, I'll turn it off, open all ports, remove the battery and put the device inside a rice bag immediately. We don't know where the water go and what component will break.
If you have another good battery, try it.
If it still the same, then all you need is a new phone.
