I buy an htc one from ebay, and I see the problem with the camera (when facing down only, night picture its seems ok) so, I dont know if return the phone, or if I can get warranty if I buy it from ebay. Or is better to return? I never have a problem with a new phone, s o i dont know what to do. And I must decide tomorrow, because I am not from USA and my brother will send me the phone or return depending on what i decide.
THanks for your time

Have you got any receipt or something to proof you can get your warranty?
I'm from Belgium and we need to proof that we bought the phone from that store to get the warranty.
Just was a purchase from other in ebay. So i think that is not valid for any store, with an ipod iw as able to get warranty without that, that why i ask

Rather replace it while you can, tell your brother to check for all possible defects, including the camera, gaps, heating etc..
Ok, but if he go to att store? (the phone is from att) they can change it? I dont want to go from a lot of process from ebay :/ it will be a lot of time.
And yes, my brother check and say that the phone is perfect. (and he like the camera more than his samsung haha) and he dont know that was a problem because he say that the photo are good, but i see that can get worse, thats why i want to replace it
I attach the photos. One is in night mode an dother normal mode, and the HTCwith the camera facing down. THe photos I see very good, but I fear a future problem

Hey guys, i have a huge problem with my tilt, it is driving me crazy. My keyboard is acting crazy. When i press some keys it will give me a double key, like if i press i or o it will write io, and i know that they are close together and that mite be the problem but sometime if i press R it writes ri or ro, its really only with these 3 keys. I was wondering if anyone out there had this problem (funny i had this problem with the phone i had this replaced with the p990i) and how to solve it. i really hope its not a hardware problem cuz i bougth the damn phone from someone on ebay, brand new.
please help, i have the htc rom installed, sleuth 1.0. thanks guys, i appreciate it alot
I had the same problem. It is a bad keyboard membrane. You will need to replace the membrane or send it in for repair. I had att replace me.
great. i dont have att so that means that i will have to sent it to htc right?
damn i never get anything good on ebay (and i keep telling myself that it will be the last time i buy something from ebay). I mean the damn phone was new.
So can i contact htc and send it to them and will they replace it for free? cuz sure att isnt since i have no account with them.

If you bought it BRAND new, sure!! Forget the bull**** on HTC's website about proof of purchase. The Ebay receipt print off is good enough or your cred card statement for the purchase (erase the rest for anything else!!! ). Just as anywhere else, DON'T take no for an answer.
yeah, im not gonna get no for an answer for sure. i paid good money for this. I think i am gonna get my friend to send it to att so i can get a replacement right away, now i gotta flash it back to att crap rom and hope my friend is up to, i heard htc takes its time to get things done and that would mean no phone for 1 month. damn this sucks, thx for the support guys.

Check this place out first, they deliver anywhere,

Found on a 'Bork'?? thread here.
do you by any chance have htc keyboard+keypad installed?
try uninstalling if you have it in there.
seriously? now peoples keyboards are F'ing up? damn.. what is next
I've already gone through so many I've lost count. Frys Electronics is getting tired of me coming into their store every other day with another problem on a new Tilt, lol
First it was the side scroll wheel, it didn't even work
Second was the usb port, it was so tight that when I went to take the usb charger off it, it pulled the usb port out some with it.
Third and most recent was a dead pixel and a slider that closed too far.
Do I just have bad luck? lol
dont have anything installed, just did a hard reset so no progs installed. it looks like its screwed up and how lucky it is exaclty the sam prob as my p990i (which i thought was software problem) but its not.
phone stuck in demo mode...I got mine from ebay. there is no way of connecting the device to the pc I have pc cable connected and windows mobile device center installed and zune installed. zune detects the device but windows mobile center does not. In order to install a rom you need usb connectivity. I can't get it at all with this device. Am I stuck with a knockoff demo? the guy wont even respond on ebay. he seems legit. I got it within the next day like he said. guess i'll just send this back and wait till monday and get a real one. or if anyone on here can help that would be great.
I put in my sim card. I can send and receive text messages and call people. i can log into my own hotmail account and get email. I can't log into facebook or marketplace or any of the other programs.
okay I figured it out myself. this is what you do. you have to turn the phone on pressing power button and hold down volume button and let it go into the red blue green white screen that shows the radio info and everything wait till usb comes up at the bottom and then install this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810346
I am no longer in demo mode.
OMGsame thing happened to me from Craigslist, can u go step by step on how u installed it.. Thanks so much.
By the way did ur screen turn on every other minute showing the demo screen.
Dude you will be my hero if you can make it work for me.
when you install it will turn off at 11% don't panic it will come back on and finish installing.
i explained how to already.
Ok I get into the blue green screen and it says USB, then what?. Does the download have the program to install from.sorry I'm at work using my phone lol
download the signed rom. double click it. and go through the steps. do this from your pc
Ohh okay. Sorry lol. I'm excited BC I was so pissed that it was in demo mode..
was ur screen turning on and saying touch to see this phone or whatever before? And is it now after the rom
So what you guys have are store demos that someone sold you underhandedly and are most likely stolen? Why wouldn't you wait literally one day and get an actually HD7 from a store with a return policy and a warranty?
I got mine from a legit seller on ebay. not stolen. He sells only phones. he told me today that he is selling them regardless of the nov 8th release date.
If your right than there was just a mix up at htc and the wrong rom was loaded. In that case your seller should express ship a replacement and we can expect a lot more people to have your problem.
But what it sounds like to me is your seller has a store somewhere and htc gave him a couple demo units to display that he put on ebay early to make a few extra bucks. Not your fault, but I would be worried in that case that my phone doesn't have a warranty. No way htc honors any warranty issues with a demo IMEI and your seller isn't going to be any help either.
Im just happy I got a phone that works. All I had to do was replace the rom. I will most likely be replacing this phone in a year or two when a better version comes out. not that big of a deal. my friends are jealous. they have iphone4.
samsung focus
Ok i have the same problem, I bought a focus on craigslist and have the same issue, stuck in demo mode, the only problem i have is there is no rom or clue how to install it. Any help from you guys would be great.

dude, you are not getting it. What the other poster is trying to tell you is that most likely you will not be able to use any warranty on the phone, so if the phone breaks, you are out of a phone. Hopefully you can add insurance to it, but if the imei is flagged, then probably not.
Good luck.
This one worked well for me ! Thanks for posting.

Actually, the DEMO mode is for stores to display. I think we all know that. I heard some TMobile stores actually sold these devices after they ran out of stock. In addition, I have heard that several stores, or more, have had their demo versions stolen. Any of these would generate the situation you are in.
If you purchased one of these devices from a store...take it back. They should exchange it. If you did it over ebay or craigslist....you get what you pay for .....including the warrenty.
Demo mode? It was stolen lol
Hi everybody,
Can you please plz plz showed me how to do it on HTC Surround ? I got that same sh*t .... plase help ...
To Mod: please don't remove, I can't find one in HTC Surround forum... (thanks...)
Thanks u all,
Considering i bought the htc one from ebay with the tester bootload and changed IMEI, would they repair my phone camera if i send it to HTC? Would they keep the phone or would they send it back?

I would imagine since that's a hardware problem they wouldn't do much digging around. As long as you are on stock rom and don't have any obvious changes or root files.

The IMEI was changed probably ba ESN, wont they use the IMEI to check warranty? Either way i dont believe they would keep the phone as its not illegal to change anything on the device (I think).

I highly doubt they would keep it. They may check against serial number as far as warranty but I've never dealt with HTC directly. I want to say HTC's warranty is a year and no HTC one has been out a year so every HTC One is still covered by warranty. If anything comes of it just play dumb and say you bought it on Ebay.
When I had to send my One back to get its screen repaired, I asked the rep I was on the phone with about the bootloader. He told me that the bootloader/ROM only becomes a problem when they can't flash it to stock for whatever reason, in which case the repair center will charge extra for the hassle of reflashing your phone. I was also told that flashing my phone to as close to stock as possible should be fine. I doubt they check your software any more than this. As with the "keeping the phone" deal, they probably wouldn't do such a thing unless it was listed as a stolen phone and some agency forced them to keep it.
My broken (shattered glass) screen wasn't covered by the warranty so they probably didn't check my warranty status. It may be different in your situation, but I hope that this helps.
Its to repair the known issue of the red/blue/green tint on the camera, i just want to play safe and get a new camera or a new phone.
Edit: Funny thing happened today, i somehow fixed my camera.
Anyway i was contacted by HTC in Portugal telling me, that because my phone was modified by Sprint the warranty is not valid in europe....

Please don't even attempt to change the screen yourself. Give the phone to HTC, they'll repair it. They'll charge, but its much better than trying to do it yourself

I can't send it back as it as no screen on it at all the person I bought it off as all ready attempted to open it and when I had a look the cables were broke. I only got it cheap so I thought I would have a try at fixing it my self. You can see where they have tried to force it open and when i got the screen off one of the cables was snapped

Hmmm, I think HTC will just charge extra because the phone has been opened. But I don't think they will deny repairing it. See if they are willing to do it

I have just done that but the best they could tell me was send it in and wait for a quote and either send it back unrepaired for £27 or to dispose the device free of charge. Just dont know if its worth it though as i remember a few years ago sending my sensation in and because the screen had a little crack in it they wanted £200 just to fix the screen
Thanks replaced the screen and working great so far
So... I'm tired of my messed up camera with all the purple gunk. I called HTC to see if they'd repair my phone, and they said they would, however, I just wanted to ask if anyone knows who would be faster/better in fixing the camera. Sprint or HTC? I've got a trip coming up on the 28th and need my phone for it, so I'm kind of hesitant on what to do.
Regardless of either option, I guess I have to go back to stock for either option, right?

HTC Route: You'll definitely get it fixed under warranty, but you'll have to eat the one way shipping and RUU to stock. If you're out of warranty but you're the OG owner, maybe you can fight them. You'll be out of a phone for 2 to 3 weeks.
Sprint route: You must have insurance with Sprint for them to do anything. If you do, they'll swap out your phone no prob; they shouldn't care that it's tampered. No down time. You may get another phone with the same issue (very slim chance), and it will be refurbished. No insurance = SOL.
There. Make your choice.

I do have the insurance with Sprint, so I think I might try your suggestion on their behalf. If I end up with the same issue, I'll go with HTC when I return from my trip.
Also, would you happen to know how to check the camera model? I've seen threads mentioning models of replaced cameras on other forums, but none go into detail on how to tell what's actually in there.
Also, thanks~

You should be able to check on the spot if the camera has the issue. The phone gets fairly hot while setting up, and you should place the camera face down and see if the picture is pitch black. If so, you should be fine. Else, ask if you can swap again.
As I said there's a very slim chance of the swap having the issue at this point.
Lastly, the pictures really aren't that impressive even without the defect. Really had me bummed, but at least it works now.
Good luck.
