I did a quick hands-on video for this port on my Nexus 4. Everything works (Update: except compass) great with no hiccups or lag. I'm using it as my daily driver, so, if you have any concerns, check the video below to see the performance.

tnQ for this video..
i flashed this rom.. but i think it's not so good for daily usage.. good for fun and experiencing Kit Kat..
but it's not as smooth as 4.3 rom.. (of course it's a port and it's initial version).. there's some stuttering..
Looking good. Thanks for videos!

The version I use works very good, at least for me. I've heard that there are different ports and some of them are laggy. Check the thread I'm linking to in the OP. You might have flashed a different one

Nice, I really like how they removed the black bar from the nav buttons.

hi,
first of all, i want to say that i am not the developer or related by any means to this rom.
I just accidently came across this rom and wanted to share the link to u guys.
Updates-
12.05.2011- v1.85 available through Rom manager.
06.05.2011- Liquid nexusbread ver 1.8
http://liquidsmoothroms.com/node/1
Been running this rom for several days and it's working flawlessly! Love all the options for changing color in the status/dropdown bar, etc. Not sure if these were implemented in CM7.0.2 or not. This rom is really nice, I happened across it on ROM Manager. Lot's of cool features/options and very fast.
I am downloading the rom as we speak. This is very exciting news!
EDIT: This is not the Liquid Metal Tom although I automatically assumed it was. This rom is very fast and the stock browser works almost flawlessly with flash content compared to other roms I've tried. I have my phone overclocked at 1440 Max with the performance governor and I am very impressed at how stable it is. The phone hasn't crashed yet! This might honestly be my daily driver.

I went to high school with the dev of this rom and it was originally made for my nexus s... until I swapped for a G2x. If you get a chance, send him some donations. He's unemployed and could use the support.

Has all the goodies of CM7 and more.
This is a really awesome rom. All of CM7 stuff, plus more. Definitely lots of good stuff here!
why is this posted in a droid/verizon forum? it also seems awful tiny for a rom that supposed to offer as much as cm7.....it's nearly half the size
Pics please
Can anyone post some pics?
Is this better than CM?

The dev had a Droid x and now has a thunderbolt. He made the rom for me but by the time he finished I exchanged my nexus s for a g2x. He's been doing roms for a long time now. Since the og Droid.

just got done with the CHANGES & CREDITS now i m gonna install it
I tried this a while ago. And it seemed nice. But it only had english as language. As i remember the download was only 57mb, so maybe the dev could ad the languages again. So this could be used.
THANKs
another GREAT ROM for Nexus S
Will this rom receive any updates in the future?

This ROM has proven itself far superior to any i've used earlier. Its fluid fast with a exceptional battery life and so many options to mod the ROM.
The rom has been removed from Liquidsmoothroms.com. Maybe theres an update coming.
there are NO gapps included, just a heads up. I believe it said the latest gapps were installed

Hey everyone.
I've tried slim bean and another cyanogen rom, but the problem was the camera quality was really bad, but battery life was , tbh, great, about 30% higher than stock rom, which I am with now..
Does anyone know a good cm rom with good camera quality ?
Also, I dislike the cm UI, is there any cm rom with LG UI ? I know there are some for samsung for example that have touchwiz, does it also exist for our phone?

There is LG Launcher and Galaxy S4 Launcher and Xperia Z1 Launcher for CM 10.1, and Camera Quality is not bad. Download Camera Hack for CM 10.1 and install LGs Offical Stock 20a Camera ported from iodak. Wow you must search very careful (attention "sarcasm")

Slim bean 4.3 with it's own kernel, some apps greenified and used for texting and some tweeting over wi-fi /3g
So now that I finally got it working, it just looks like they changed some interface elements. Which I personally don't think look as nice as in 4.3 (those rounded popups that notify you of, say, when a program is granted root, look awful, as do the icons in the pulldowns now; like they went in the direction of MS and tried to make things more monotone). Is there something I'm missing here? I mean I know on the back end a lot of APIs had changes and additions so I can see it being mandatory for certain programs, but beyond that....better battery? sleeker interface? even more buttery smooth? I mean the user experience....
i haven't received the update yet

I think it feels a bit smoother than 4.3 for me, I wasn't one of the people who had problems with 4.2.2. I think you're right about the interface changes though, they are subtle but in places they changed to the monotone look but left some of the blue holo stuff in there too like they couldn't make up there mind. Waiting to see how battery goes, certainly doesn't seem any worse so far.

Yep, its not going to magically last for weeks with 10+ hrs of screen time lol but it seems grand. Feel a bit underwhelmed after googles 'kitkat for everyone' talk and then we (n7 2012 users) don't have the ART option or the GEL launcher. I know you can install the apk, I actually use nova which now has the transparent top and bottom bars features but found it confusing after updating from 4.3 and seeing the same launcher!

The stock 4.4 was really bad, graphics lag so much its not usable, I was coming from Purity Rom/Franco kernel. Now that I'm on AOSP 4.4 its much better, at least back to the same as Purity before, not noticeably better but at least not unusable like the stock one. Somewhat disappointing I guess.

You can find the new launcher in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47031599
It's called launcher 3. It's the launcher from the nexus 5 build of 4.4 without Google now and the keyboard popup when you press home. If you want the one with Google now you can extract it from gapps(I extracted it from PA odexed).

Me personally, am unimpressed. Seems that Google is starting to follow Apple's upgrade methodology... Make people wait a year, put out a "new" OS that just has some updated icons, leave out features on all but the latest devices to get people to upgrade their hardware and call it a day.
Fail.

Did you look even once through the Original Android Development forum?
We've got CM11, SlimKat, Beanstalk and AOKP.
I know that at least in CM11 and SlimKat everything works, even though you
have to disable HW Overlays for some things.
But you could have easily found that by yourself in a few minutes.

In terms of an actual ROM made by Sony, then No we're only on 4.3.
In terms of AOSP and the like then yea there are a few as some users have already mentioned, 4.4 from Sony should be out soon I would say, there are phones that have it on there which are in development so i can see a leak on it's way quite soon.

4.3 needs a bit of tweaking to be honest, i've noticed my phone gets warmer and it dies quicker when compared to 4.2.2. 4.4 has been rock solid at least on my HTC One, so hopefully the Z1 will follow suit.

Same for a lot of people mate, you do get the odd person who says "Noooooo, I haven't got a single issue 4.3 has been the best ever ever ever"
Well that's great for them but in all fairness i've not done anything different than I did before so it is the OS.
Kitkat has had a fair amount of work put into it, i'd like Sony to take their time with this release and get it perfect, waiting for thing to be patched and optimized is a pain.
As we all know, the AOSP camera and even the Google Camera take horrible pictures on the LG G2 running CM11. I was wanting to hear opinions on what people are finding to be the best solution for a better camera on AOSP ROMs, whether it be the stock LG G2 camera in some form or something else. I've seen a lot of apk's and zip's floating around in the past with mixed reviews. This solution seems to have current active users:

Just wanted to hear people's test results with various solutions. Much appreciated!

I'd love to see something similar on AOSP. His camera mod is that good that it's become a deal breaker for me. I won't use any ROM that doesn't support xdabbeb's camera mod. I'm currently using his ROM. He's got the mod baked right into the ROM. I do miss that AOSP goodness though. What do you recommend for a really stable ROM? I may set one up and make a Nandroid so I can switch back and forth. My biggest pet peeve about Stock ROMS is the lack of Quick Unlock. It's the little things, haha.

Haha yeah I have to say that the LG ROM's lockscreen drove me up a wall very quickly, and the CM11 lockscreen options have been a huge relief. It's such a shame you kinda have to choose between a stellar camera and the buttery smoothness of AOSP. LG's whole UI is like nails on a chalkboard for me. No matter how much I tried to cover it up with launchers, Google Keyboard, lockscreen customization, etc. it always seemed to be like putting lipstick on a pig.
That being said, I recently updated my CM11 nightlies from 4/11 to 5/10 and the stability difference is night and day. 4/11 had several SoDs per day among other random hickups. 5/10 has been steady as a rock. I should also note that I initially flashed 5/11, and the incallui process just would just crash so that was a bit of an issue to say the least, but 5/10 has been great. I'm fairly certain these nightlies require the 12b radios though so just be mindful of that if you've updated to the 24a radios.
I've also read great things about the stability of JackpotCalvin's CM11 based on the 4.4.2 OTA over here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702958
But the flashing process is pretty intense, so I think I'll just wait until CM officially releases a build based on the 4.4.2 OTA.
Let me know if you end up trying any of the CM11 ROMs!
